This office staff, Dr George senior and Jr, his wife Sue are all amazing people. They take care of my children ( pets) , and my human family like nobody else has ever done. Their love, support, care and the way they explain everything are only half of why I will only bring my pets to them. My daughter comes home from Baltimore to bring her pup here as well . They have been through hell and back with my family and my only wish was that they were also human doctors too so I could have them as my health team. I went here based off the reviews. It is close to my house and they were open surprisingly late. I will say that everyone who worked there was very nice. What I was not thrilled about was the price. My dog needed antibiotics so I assumed it would be just an office visit cost. Instead that became $95 because they looked at it under a microscope.. I was never informed prior to them doing that or told of the cost until I checked out. Wow. I have never found a vets office I love, mostly because I never get the feeling I can trust them and they aren't just in it for the money. I recently moved to Charlotte and my pup got an ear hematoma. I took her to a vet close to my place and was quoted laser therapy for $200. That treatment did absolutely nothing. Then it was a quote for $1500-1700 surgery, and placing my dog on medicine I repeatedly told them she does not handle well. I decided to get a second opinion. I used Yelp and found this gem. Quoted under half the cost for the same surgery and not forced to put her on medicine that makes her miserable. Matthew actually LOVES the animals he treats and warmly remembered Lilah each time we visited for follow ups. They don't take appointments but honestly it's never been an issue. Took my two male cats in to get their yearly check up and for a fecal round worm test, they saw me quickly and were extremely friendly and helpful. They were very gentle with my cats and explained everything to me as they went through their check up, they gave them a topical dewormer and gave me the preventative meds as well (at the normal cost, I checked online and it was the same price so I know they aren't overcharging) 10/10 will be bringing my cats here from now on. We were referred to them by someone on yelp after we had posted a complaint about our previous doctor. We have an aggressive rescue dog and the previous doctor, who had seen her for 11 years, refused to give her a yearly checkup. Left without a vet, we were frantically searching. We did a walk in and they were amazing. Our previous doctor would make us sedate our dog before we brought her in. Here, they were able to care for her without having to sedate her and they were wonderful with her. She was very comfortable and not at all stressed. She usually hates the vet, but for some reason she was completely relaxed. They were able to give her her vaccines and do a full check up, also at a really reasonable price. We are thankful for the caring doctors at this hospital. I believe my dog was able to pick up on the kindheartedness of these doctors and that's what made her feel at ease when she was there. We were referred to this hospital by another yelp reviewer. We had posted a complaint about our previous doctor and someone messaged me and told me about this place.We took our dog here and it was the most wonderful experience we've had so far with any vet. Our previous vet of 10 years refused to see us this year because our dog is aggressive and they were unable to see her, despite the fact we had been going there for 10 years. They even required us to sedate her before we brought her in to them. When we took our dog to this place we were not required to sedate her and she was great. She was so relaxed at this place and the doctors were able to fully examine her without any issue. I am so glad we were recommended to this hospital! Our dog is very aggressive and even worse at the vet. Her previous veterinarian told us out of nowhere that she is too crazy for them to deal with, leaving her without any care at her old age. I was recommended Archdale Animal Hospital from a stranger and I am so happy I have them a call. The people at Archdale Animal Hospital took the time to make our dog feel comfortable and give her the care she needs. We've never had such a painless and quick visit to the vet, and and we got everything taken care of. I am sure most people feel the same way in that their pet Is more than a pet. My dog Dakota is a part of the family and we want a place we can trust. Here at Archdale we have found that. When it comes to regular check ups and shots they are efficient and caring. An important thing to know is they do not take appointments. At first, I found it hard to believe as that's how I plan my day at work and felt it is best. With that said, I have yet to have a long wait dropping or picking up out fur baby. The staff here is awesome! We brought our cat here after our usual vet, the Animal Medical Hospital on Monroe quoted us a very high price for the services our cat needed. I am so happy we found this place! They were extremely helpful and even stayed late on a Friday night so that my cat could be seen! This is a family run business and you can really tell that they care and love what they do. Dr Matthew talked us through everything thoroughly and made sure we understood our cat's situation, which I appreciated as we often are rushed through this process at another vet and felt uninformed.I felt totally comfortable leaving my cat in their care for four days. We were given updates twice a day by phone from Dr Matthew himself, which we appreciated a lot! They even monitored my cat for an extra day at no cost just to be sure he was okay. They are honest in their pricing, and reasonable! My past vet quoted me $1000-$3000 for the services we needed, and here we only paid $600, for comparison. We will definitely be coming back! They don't take appointments but I've never had to wait long at all.  Sometimes we are able to wait less than 5 mins when it's something as simple as a routine should. I have a golden retriever puppy that I consider my child. Unlike my fellow millennials, I am not all about the "raw diet, allergy panel testing, my dog has better care than me" BS. If you are like me, then bring your pet here. The doctor and his son are the BEST! They do not try to talk you into buying nonsense things or really anything that your pet doesn't absolutely need. Dr. George is so kind, and you can tell he loves what he does. They believe that dogs are dogs and that tap water is perfectly normal for your dog.....(sorry to people that provide better drinking water for their pets than themselves). Very happy with the experience from the front desk to the cleanliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the very short wait time. The vet, Dr. George, was professional, informative, and friendly. Update: My lil buddy ingested supposedly fatal amounts of chocolate (if left untreated) at a pet sitter's house (just a puppy being a puppy, not entirely the pet sitter's fault). I was near freaking out as I rushed from the office to meet my puppy here. By the time I arrived, they had already done the toxicity calculations based on his size and how much and what type of chocolate he ingested and they had started the first round of treatment to get him to throw up.  Throughout the process they were super calm and informative. I was freaking out a little and they never once seemed concerned (I mean that in the best possible way). They passively instilled calm in me. This clearly was not their first time making a dog throw up chocolate. They answered every question I asked and took great care of my puppy. After the first wave of throw up to confirm chocolate consumption, they decided to hang onto him for the rest of the day to complete treatment.  At the end, my puppy was his normal self. The vet bill was very reasonable considering the emergency nature of it. As you can see from my initial review, I was already a fan of this place. Now I'm a walking advertisement for it.  Original review:I started taking my puppy here almost as soon as I got him based on a ton of recommendations from Next Door.I have not been disappointed yet. The vets are a father and son team and I'm pretty sure the grandfather started the practice making it family owned for three generations (don't fact check me on that).My puppy gets excellent care and seems always excited to be there. The vets handle him with care, give him treats during shots so he never even notices the prick, and offer up great advice on caring for him.They have never been invasive in their advice. Meaning they don't micromanage the care of your pet once you leave or tell clients how to raise every pet the same.They are just super friendly and very knowledgeable and I have great confidence bringing my dog here for the entirety of his life. Amazing staff and Dr. George really loves his job. Best vet I've ever had out of all my previous 4! He is so dedicated to my cat. He goes to great lengths to explain your pet's conditions. Both he and his son seem very passionate and honest people who really care. I used to go to Carolinas Animal Hospital, but Dr. George and his staff blow them out of the water. My old vet visits would only last approximately 5-10 minutes, but every single time I've gone to Dr. George, he literally spends as much time as you want to go through labs or questions. I also had trouble reaching my old vet at Carolinas and would just be referred to a staff member for questions. I was surprised that Dr. George literally just jumps on the phone when I called about my cat and literally spent 40 min explaining my cat's condition. On top of that, my first visit was 1.5 hours long! That's unheard of! It's also cheaper than Carolinas! Highly highly recommend Archdale! Read Less

Taking my animals here has been the best decision I've made in Charlotte! Archdale animal has absolutely been amazing. They provide all types of services (from annual vaccination, normal clinic visit, surgeries, to medical boarding, you name it!) The doctors and staff there amazing and genuinely care about the animals. My cat has been receiving treatment and medical boarding for over 16 months now since he had a big surgery and got diagnosed with Lymphoma. They have always done a fantastic job! Highly recommend! My animals and I love both Dr. Georges (father and son). I started with taking my elderly cat there last year, and eventually my puppy this fall. While they don't schedule appointments, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes to see the doctor. They explain all treatment plans very thoroughly and give estimates up front. Prices are very reasonable without sacrificing quality. You can tell they care about their patients and were great about offering practical advice to a first time/slightly neurotic dog owner. I am so glad I found Archdale Animal Hospital. After my long time vet could not fit my dog in when she was very ill I called Archdale and she was seen, diagnosed and home by the end of the work day. What I love most is Dr George always takes his time to explain everything to you when it comes down what what is going on / what happened to your pet. Just yesterday he took my husband and I back to see the x rays he had shot when we suspected a broken toe. Not only did he confirm the broken toe, he showed us the rest of her x rays which showed all good signs in her bone growth. They are respectful of what your pet needs and never try and sell you on anything unneeded. You can tell all of the staff truly love what they do and it exudes in their work! Really am impressed with this vet clinic. Both the doctors are so caring for the pets that they see. We have been seeing them for a few months with our new rescue dog and brought him in for an emergency. They appropriately send us to a emergency clinic where  we had to have an involved surgery and long recovery.  I don't think our little dog would be alive without their assistance. Switched from another vet in the Steele Creek area to here for a second opinion and Archdale gave us options that the previous vet did not, which are working great for our boxer! I love this office.  The whole staff is wonderful and Dr. George is super thorough. Awful Care!I think that Dr. George is the worst Vet doctor I've ever been to. I took my cat to him after it had a terrible accident where his tail was broken and separated from the bottom part of the spine. The tail was too swollen to really get a good idea of the damage. After seeing that I was obviously in pain about my cat, he continued to tell me that the prognosis for my cat is horrible and that I should just put him down because he would be a headache to take care of, and that with his schedule he certainly wouldn't want to take care of a cat in his condition. And he also let me know that no one else would want Sammy. What the heck do I care if no one else would want him?!! He is my cat!! But here is where it gets worse.......I'm grieving over my cat and the news that Dr. George told me to just kill him. I called around and spoke to a Vet at Long Animal hospital that was very caring and told me what to look for in my cat that would tell me whether he would be able to put through or not. One of the things that Dr. George said was that he does not think that Sammy would regain the use of his bowels, and it would build up in his intestines so for that reson I should kill him. Well, the next morning after getting his records from Dr. Georges office I was on my way to have my cat put down thinking that he would not be able to use his bowels, but as I was driving I smelt something and realized that Sammy had moved his bowels. Which according to Dr. George was inpossible with his injury. It's a good thing that Sammy moved his bowels at that moment because if he had not, I would have put down a healthy cat. Not only that but he has been doing better since he has been home, and it's only been a few days.I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. If you are someone that wants a professional, precise, and completely accurate diagnosis of your animal, DO NOT go to this hospital, and DO NOT let Dr. George examine your pet. This has been my very horrible experience here at this hospital. I will be taking Sammy to Richland animal hospital for the rest of his care, I'll never return to this hospital again. And I get the feeling that the staff are just as rude, and unprofessional as the Dr. was. Read Less

Absolutely the best vet we've ever had the pleasure of seeing! Every person in this office is friendly and treat your pets wonderfully! You can always hear them in the back ooohing and ahhhing over your babies! They are always reasonable in price; Dr. George always explains each treatment option thoroughly and takes his time with you and your pet; you are always made aware of cost before they do anything. Hours are convenient, and you don't ever need an appointment. Dr. George treats exotic pets too, which is how I found him (I found a Quaker Parrot and searched for a vet to see him ASAP). Worst Vet I have EVER been too. Why do you work for a vet and as a vet if you have no compassion what so ever???? To make matters worst my dog passed as he had an illness that he didn't recover from. YES the vet knew this, they told me chances were VERY slim he would survive. SO why did you e-mail me a birthday card the very next day?? I have been taking my two rescued beagles there for several years now. Dr George will stand and chat and tend to the dogs properly and advise of anything necessary. I was shocked to read the ""Terrible Practice"" review written about Dr. George. He must have the wrong doctor! Dr. George has always been thorough and takes time to answer any questions or concerns. We had a Chocolate Lab who saw Dr. George since he was 8 weeks until we had to put him down when he was 14 b/c of cancer. I absolutely love this place. They are the most compassionate people. Even on the sign in form for new patients they ask "is this a pet or a part of your family". They really helped me out alot. Working with a very tight budget can be a real headache, especially if your best friend is hurt and needs immediate attention.
