Once again this vet strikes again. I have a dog that has attended this vet for 14 yrs. I came home from work at 5 am to a house full of blood. I called the vet Sat morning, spoke to cat, explained the emergency my dog was having even the clots of blood he was throwing up the size of my hand and she said that it was Saturday and they were book and didn’t have time to see my dog. After 14 yrs of attending this vet with 3 dogs they could not work me in. They did refer me to an emergency vet “Care” that was great. However as I sat in there for hrs running test on my dog 3 other customers came in that were refused to be seen by them as well. Find a vet that actually cares about your animal. My fur baby Bentley became ill as I was visiting my parents. I searched the Internet for a vet near my parents home with good reviews. Hickory Grove appeared to be a good fit.I called in the morning on Tuesday and was able to get an appointment for the same day at 4:30pm. When I arrived, myself and Bentley were greeted by the friendly staff. I  had to complete a quick info sheet and then we were escorted to an exam room. The first staff to work with Bentley was so sweet. It was clear that she is passionate about animals.  She took Bentley's temperature and obtained a brief overview of what was wrong with Bentley. We did not wait long to visit with Dr. Husky. I can't say enough good things about her. She was genuine and thorough. Although she was unclear as to what was going on with Bentley, she provided me with diagnostic options. I decided to go with obtaining lab work, urine test and having a heart and lymes test done. Outside of him having a fever, slightly high white blood cell count, and a slight UTI - there was no clear diagnosis.  Dr. Husky suggested antibiotics and a vet approved wet dog food. We were in the office for about 1.5 hours and had a bill of $308. The lab work was the most expensive. I think the bill was fair for everything that was done. Additionally, Dr. Husky made sure she provided me with the contact information for the Emergency vets in the area. The following day I received a voicemail message from Dr. Husky. She indicated that she was calling to check on Bentley! This meant the world to me! I called back in, and gave the front desk staff the update. She placed me on hold to make sure Dr. Husky did but want any additional info. Dr. Husky returned to the line. She suggested that I bring Bentley in the following day to get his temperature checked. She told me that she was out for the rest of the week, but the vet on duty would be made aware of what was going on with Bentley. We arrived in the office the next morning. We received another friendly greeting. We were quickly escorted to the exam room. Bentley's temp  was down to normal, which was great news. The vet on duty  re- checked Bentley. He  noted that none of Bentley's bones appeared to be broken. He suggested that he may have a sprain and he could prescribe an anti- inflammatory. Bentley still has a limp, but I am optimistic that the treatment plan will work.  I am certain that I made a good choice in picking Hickory Grove Vet. I wish we lived here so that this could be our home vet! Read Less

Literally the best vet I've been to.. was suggested over Banfield by a Cat Rescuer and I've been taking my cats there ever since. They are extremely patient and truly care for animals. I've taken my pets to this clinic for years. They've always provided exceptional care for my cats and make sure to explain all of my options and how much each service will cost. Dr. Huskey has treated my louis and my Dolce like family. Shes the only vet I will let my animals see. I trust her opinion and her judgement. I initially chose Hickory Grove because of its location, but Dr. Huskey and the staff at the hospital have given exceptional care to my cats over the years.  It meant the world to me when  an illness took one of my elderly cats several years ago. The rates are very reasonable and Dr. Huskey always clearly explains all of your options and how much each will cost.  When I got a new cat, I didn't hesitate to take him to Dr. Huskey to get checked out.  They also have great hours and are open on Saturdays which I've found really convenient.  I also board my pets there when I go out of town.  I sincerely recommend Hickory Grove if you are looking for a regular vet. Hickory Grove Animal Hospital is one of the most caring veterinary practices I have ever dealt with in owning my dogs for the past 8 years. The first Christmas I lived in Charlotte I went home and needed a place for my dogs to stay for a week. My flight was at 7:30 am and having just moved to Charlotte I didn't know anyone that could help me out by dropping my dogs off at the vet when they opened. Hickory Grove was understanding and agreed to open early so that I could drop the dogs off and still make my flight on time. Unfortunately the day before I was due to come back my grandfather passed away and I needed to stay home for an additional two weeks. Again Hickory Grove was very understanding and agreed to keep the dogs in my time of need. I always take my pets their for their routine vet visits and the prices are reasonable as well. Read Less

Hickory Grove has the potential to be a great veterinary clinic, but they are too hung up on "protocol."  I am fostering a dog my neighbor was unable to keep.  I knew the puppy had roundworms, but wanted a stool test done to make sure there was nothing else.  Round worms can be RX'd over the counter, some other things can't.  They REFUSED to test the stool without doing a $42 exam on the dog,  I understand that they won't prescribe meds without seeing the dog, but all I asked for was the stool test.  Upon hearing the results I could opt to RX OTC, or if additional parasites were found pay for the exam and follow up.  It would not have reflected on their clinic either way.  Well, they refused and another vet clinic did it.  Guess which clinic will have my continued business?  I live near to Hickory Grove and would love to patronize a local clinic.  But these times are very hard economically and sometimes using a little common sense saves much $ and in the long run helps save dogs and cats.  In a perfect world, we always dot every I and cross every T, but sometimes we can't.  Hickory Grove-please don't be so anal! I have go there 2 times, unfortunately in those times my dogs were extremely sick that they couldn't make it, but the doctors were very sensitive and caring, also they do have reasonable prices and I even found there a ASPCA booklet about pet health insurance which they accept there so after enrolling i will keep taking my pet there; I had three dogs now I'm left with one :'( Read Less

Dr. Huskey, Dr. Matheson and Dr. Kappers are incredible at Hickory Grove. They have always treated each one of my dogs with personal, professional and customized care and are extremely knowledgeable about veterinarian medicine. I have quite ""special"" dogs and they always make accommodations to care each one of them individually. All staff at the hospital are incredibly friendly and know each owner and their animals by name. My neighbors dog was attacked by two other dogs. It was bad. Hickory Grove is my vet and close to where we live, so I called them and they told us of course to bring him in immediately. We did. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done. The support and kindess of the staff at Hickory Grove made all the difference in making a horrific situation somewhat more bearable. I have 3 pitt bulls most vets would be intimidated but they treat my 3 just like they were poodles. They show much affection and exam your pet very thoroughly. the Drs and staff are very friendly and personable. They know all my dogs by name. Very reasonably priced as well. Several of the staff members have been there a long time. That makes a big difference when you walk in and they know who you are and your pet. The are very thorough, some vets barely look at your pet, my pet got a complete look over for sure. I also like it because the staff is ""down to earth"", able to talk with them very easily, withou feeling like I am taking up too much of there time. Great!!! We took our Jack Russell Terrier on 11-12. The office was clean with a comfortable waiting area. We were seen on time. The vet was good even though my dog tried to bite him. We had a full exam, poopy exam and heartworm test, heartworm medicine, and a sample bag of eukanuba dog food and a greenie for under $100. Dr. Huskey and her staff are fantastic! They are caring, pleasant and very professional. Very obvious they love their work and are kind to not only the animals but the owners, too.
