I can't possibly begin to express to whoever reads this review what a horrible nightmare we experienced with Hight Veterinary Hospital located at 9628 N Tryon ST. Charlotte NC. We made the tragic mistake of taking one of our dog's to this practice that suddenly became sick and needed help. When we got there and taken back to a treatment area a Tech came in got our history as to what was going on with our dog. Shortly after, Dr. Hight came into the room and started talking to us. He ended up doing some lab work which indicated that our dog's Kidney and Liver functions were abnormal. He really gave us no indications what might be wrong and suggested we might want to go to an animal emergency hospital which is probably what we should have done to begin with. The visit to animal emergency hospital resulted in them telling us she had be exposed to a very dangerous bacteria called Leptospirosis. She was admitted into the hospital and they started treatment for this disease upon discharge from the hospital, were instructed to take her back to Hight Veterinary in two weeks for a follow up and more blood work. Meanwhile we ended up taking our other dog into Hight Vet to be vaccinated for this horrible disease. Dr. Hight vaccinated him and set another appointment for him to come in to get a booster vaccine as well.
Sadly after two weeks of helping our dog to try to fight of this terrible sickness on the morning of Saturday April 8th we woke up to our baby girl in a state of semi consciousness and in the process of dying. She was crying and definitely in pain so I immediately called Hight Veterinary Hospital to request if we could bring her in for Euthanasia to help stop her pain.
To my amazement and shock, I was told that I could not bring her in because they were busy and did not have the time to see her. I was told by a receptionist very coldly that if she could make it through the weekend they MIGHT be able to see her on the following Monday. After a heated conversation took place with the receptionist Dr. Hight got on the phone and told us he would not see our dog and to take her to the animal emergency hospital have her euthanized that he was busy and that the very fact he was talking to me on the phone was putting him further behind. I tried to explain to him that he was just right up the street from where we lived and begged him to please let us bring her in so he could humanely help her end her pain and suffering, again we ended up having a bit of a heated conversation and he told me not to come back into his practice again. I told him that we had an appointment to bring our other dog in for a booster shot to the vaccine that HE had administered to our other dog and he said he was not going to give it to him. Their lack of empathy was nothing short of astounding. I have since called and ask for the information regarding the vaccine be sent to me so I can try to find another vet to administer the booster shot my other dog needs and they told me they would email me the info but I have received nothing from them. I will be contacting the board that governs the Veterinary service and the Vets in the state of North Carolina to let them know that he should be ethically bound to not withhold the booster shot my dog needs.
In my opinion, I highly recommend NOT letting Hight Veterinary Hospital treat you animals. They lack empathy and concern for their well being.

Dr. Hight, his colleagues, and staff have cared for our cats for 18 years; they are thorough, compassionate, and care about the pets they treat. Their prices are on high side of reasonable, but their service and personal touch merits the additional expense. They are up front about all costs and provide several alternatives when appropriate.

Reasonable prices and a very friendly and thorough staff. They understand that for many pet owners, price can sometimes be preventitive for in depth testing, and offer multiple possible testing routes at varied price points while explaining the benefits and drawbacks of each. They also offer grooming services, which we used once and were happy with. Overall a quality establishment offering top notch service.

I have been going here since I brought my cat from NY to NC in 2015. I have a three strike rule and this past weekend was the last straw.
• The first time I took my cat here I was told she could not be on a leash (unlike my previous vet in NY where carriers were not mandatory) and had to bring her in a carrier. No big deal. During that initial exam I was advised of what tests they recommended. I asked the vet tech for a bill summary for all recommended tests before I made my decision. When I asked her if this was for visit one of two, or a total cost I was informed total. Yes they have signs everywhere that you pay for what you get each visit. But that was not what I had asked for. When faced with the second bill it was put on me (rudely) that I misunderstood and the vet tech informed me correctly.
• I brought my cat back a week later for part two and the same vet tech in a fake sweet voice said to my cat "omg why did mommy put you in such a horrible pet carrier. She needs to get you a new one". I could not believe she had said such a thing. She was in the airline soft pet carrier I had bought from Delta and used to transport her from NY.
• The last straw was this weekend. I adopted a new cat a few months ago and was told to bring him to the vet within the next year. I called to set up the appointment hoping to align it with my other cats appointment since I work and travel a lot. When I called I was informed my other cat was not due until 2018 and they could get my second cat in two weeks from now. I am glad I asked at the end of the appointment because she is actually due in Sept 2017.
So I can no longer trust the financial information I am given to be correct, that the vet techs (at least one) will be respectful and professional, and that the general information I request is correct. Be warned.

I am new to the area and was worried about finding a vet. My first visit here, I had to put down my cat of 19 years. Dr. Hight and his staff were unbelievably caring and made a heartbreaking event as good of an experience as possible. Dr. Hight did not make me feel pressured and made sure I was well-informed about all of my options while also being very realistic with me. I wasn't charged outrageous amounts for arbitrary things, and I would certainly recommend him and his practice to anyone looking for a vet.

I have been a customer of Hight Veterinary Hosp. for more than a decade and cannot speak highly enough about their quality of care and compassion of the staff. They have taken care of my dogs from puppy through senior and only ever been excellent. Their prices are reasonable and my dogs don't hesitate to go to the vet. I have used their boarding services at the last minute due to family emergency and it was never a problem. Whenever I'm asked about veterinary service in Charlotte, my answer is always Hight.

I've had a fair amount of experience with Hight Vet over the past year due to my accident prone Lab, and have had only positive experiences. Their incredibly friendly and helpful staff have even gone out of their way to accommodate the fact that my dog doesn't always react well to other dogs and they've always been willing to answer simple questions over the phone for us.
Every vet and tech I've experienced at Hight has been pleasant and helpful, but I must give specific kudos to Dr. Melanie, who has been so helpful and sweet in all of her dealings with us and our dog. She has gone out of her way to see that our pooch is cared for and has secured some life-time patients as a result. I cannot recommend Hight Veterinary and Dr. Melanie enough!

This place has been my family's vet for years. Now that I have my own dog who seems to be accident prone, I've had experience as the dog mom. All the vets here are wonderful, but Dr. Melanie has gone above and beyond to take care of our girl. They put the animals first here, and will work with you on the rest. All staff is extremely kind and helpful. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

At first I was slightly disappointed with the receptionist. Wasn't very friendly and didn't make me feel welcomed if you will like I did back home in NY. I had my appointment early in the morning and had to wait in the room for about 30/35 minutes before the tech came in, but was exceptionally nice as well as caring and understanding about my cats issue. Doctor came in a short time later and within 2 minutes determined it was fleas he picked up from the apartment we moved into. Prescribed steroids and vectra medicine and he's already feeling much better! I was shocked at how inexpensive the visit was, under a $100! I would recommend this vet to anyone for their loved ones to get the care and help they need! They were very intelligent and great! Thank you so much!

I was really worried about finding another good vet after moving to the area; my pup has always loved going to the vet, and I want to keep it that way. On her first visit, it was hard to get her back in the car! The staff was friendly and very accommodating; we needed to be seen quickly for an emergency reason and they got us in promptly. Prices were very reasonable, and they were so thorough in figuring out what was wrong with my pup. I'd definitely recommend this vet to any pet owner. My dog can't wait to go back!

Every vet and tech I've experienced at Hight has been pleasant and helpful, but I must give specific kudos to Dr. Melanie, who has been so helpful and sweet in all of her dealings with us and our dog. She has gone out of her way to see that our pooch is cared for and has secured some life-time patients as a result. I cannot recommend Hight Veterinary and Dr. Melanie enough!

This place has been my family's vet for years. Now that I have my own dog who seems to be accident prone, I've had experience as the dog mom. All the vets here are wonderful, but Dr. Melanie has gone above and beyond to take care of our girl. They put the animals first here, and will work with you on the rest. All staff is extremely kind and helpful. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

The staff at this veterinary hospital is the best I have ever dealt with. The level of service is outstanding and it is very obvious they love and care about your pets! Dr. Melanie is wonderful, as are the rest of the staff. I'll never take my dog to another vet except here.

The staff was excellent and extremely friendly. They made my dog feel right at home. Gave him little treats and even gave me a student discount.

At first I was slightly disappointed with the receptionist. Wasn't very friendly and didn't make me feel welcomed if you will like I did back home in NY. I had my appointment early in the morning and had to wait in the room for about 30/35 minutes before the tech came in, but was exceptionally nice as well as caring and understanding about my cats issue. Doctor came in a short time later and within 2 minutes determined it was fleas he picked up from the apartment we moved into. Prescribed steroids and vectra medicine and he's already feeling much better! I was shocked at how inexpensive the visit was, under a $100! I would recommend this vet to anyone for their loved ones to get the care and help they need! They were very intelligent and great! Thank you so much!

I was really worried about finding another good vet after moving to the area; my pup has always loved going to the vet, and I want to keep it that way. On her first visit, it was hard to get her back in the car! The staff was friendly and very accommodating; we needed to be seen quickly for an emergency reason and they got us in promptly. Prices were very reasonable, and they were so thorough in figuring out what was wrong with my pup. I'd definitely recommend this vet to any pet owner. My dog can't wait to go back!
