To start, I have experiences here behind my reasoning (including the death of a pet due to incorrect diagnosing by one of their vets), but as to not make this longer than it already is, I'm not able to fit all that into this review. So I will keep this to my general opinion of the practice.
In general, I find Clayton Animal Hospital is more expensive than the average animal hospital, which does make it hard when money is tight to give your pet the best medical care you can. For instance, their regular physicals are $59 and even more if your pet is already sick or has a pre-existing condition being seen, vs. my main vet who charges $39 for an exam no matter what you're visiting for. Their other services are also double (if not more) than my other vets services.
On the other hand, Dr. Beam is a wonderful, wonderful vet. She personally takes her time with your pet, is happy to explain everything to you and answer any questions you might have, and is extremely thorough with her care, which is amazing. Unfortunately, due to the prices set by the owner, it makes it extremely difficult long term to afford their care if your pet is sick and/or injured.
If location convenience is important and you want a nice, clean vet hospital, then Clayton Animal Hospital is where I'd recommend if you have the money to do so. For the average person with several pets to care for and keep up-to-date on bloodwork and everything, it's nearly impossible to do with their prices.
My rating isn't a reflection of my opinions of the Veterinarians employed here, I think they are all great. The reason I gave them 3 stars is because again, I want a practice that cares more about the life of an animal than making a profit. I've never been one to turn down care since my pets are my children, but here I've had turn down medical procedures because costs are sometimes triple of what other vets charge. I've rescued a lot of animals in the past, and I've had other practices be willing to work with us to get something done when an animal really needed it and their life depended on it, even when it lowered their profit, because their main concern was for the life of the animal. I'd spend all the money in the world to help animals, but unfortunately reality doesn't work that way and I have to do only what I can. I get that the owner of any business needs to make a profit, but I cannot trust the owner of Clayton Animal Hospital when I feel that he's greedy when it comes to the lives of my fur-babies.
(EDIT: Within days of writing my review I received a call from them telling me that due to my review, I was no longer allowed to bring any pets here. I find this proves even more my feelings that this practice doesn't care about the well-being of the animals. Instead of addressing my concerns and feelings (as you'd think a good business would), they put the animal at risk because the next closest vet is about a 30 minute drive in case of emergency. I will happily drive 45 minutes to our vet of 8 years for their main care, but in case of an emergency the 3 minute drive was in our pets best interest. I find it silly and petty that they'd do such a thing and essentially put the pet at risk and risk their lives if it came down to it because they disliked my review. Therefore, my review is appropriately going from 3 stars to 1 star.) Read Less
