Coddle Creek Animal Hospital

We have been going here for over 9 years. While all the vets seem knowledgeable and kind specifically we see Dr. Jennifer Long. We bring all our boxers here including our foster boxers. Our fosters our covered medically (financially) thru another great local Concord vet but we pay personally for Dr Long to see all of them. She treats all the dogs like she is a personal concierge vet in a big city.  Just like many breeds boxers have "a lot" going on and we trust Dr Long with all her recommendations but she also knows when it is time to just refer to a specific specialist for the needs past general medicine. She also has been very kind with the unfortunate loss of one of our babies and personally assisted in private with helping her to the rainbow bridge as well as recommended a private cremation company. The front office, technicians and kennel employees treat our babies as their own dogs are being cared for there. So lucky a professional, talented and caring group of folks are located in the Concord/Huntersville/Davidson/CLT area. Read Less

After moving here and having to find a new vet we were so relieved to find this place. They were highly recommended by a few coworkers and they did not disappoint. We loved the techs and doctors we saw, they treated out dogs very well. The front desk staff could be a bit friendlier but they are not the ones we are there to see so we do not care too much. Love this place. My little poodle had breathing problems. They had me bring her straight in. Staff were exceptional!!!! Dr. Little treated her then called the next day to check on her. She got better right away and is back to her old self! I will ask for written prescriptions bext time as the pharmacy would've charged me 1/3 of the price for the medicine. Have been using Coddle Creek for several years I took Vick ( a dog who started hanging around my home for several months) for a basic check up only to learn he was diagnosed with a number of “life threatening” issues. Because of the excellent care of Dr. Little & his referral to a cardiologist (Dr Sayer) for oversight, Vick is still with me today. I would also like to thank Dr Tanner who has seen Vick in Dr Little’s absence. Also the front desk staff (primarily Ashley & Nikki) They are always friendly & helpful. Coddle Creek Animal Hospital has always served my family well. Dr. Little has been a friend to our family! He is very easy to talk to and he is willing to take his time to answer your questions. Loved Dr. Bo Little but don't know if he still practices.  Been bringing our dogs here for 16 years.  Todays visit was terrible!!!!!  Felt like I was getting hoodooed at a side show at the county fair.First, it used to be efficient service. Drop the dogs or dog off for a grooming and a check up. Check them in and off to work.  Today it was a 15 minute wait and a Dr had a dozen questions (the beginning of her sales pitch).  Shortly after my husband gets to work he gets t a call, sure enough the dog has a problem (cha ching cha ching) bump in the sales pitch)I go to pick up the dog and they tell me the doc wants to talk to me.  I'm concerned because our other dog died in December from lung cancer, which Dr Little was wonderful through the entire ordeal, so I'm thinking somethings seriously wrong.   I wait 20 minutes before they put me in a room to wait some more.  During the wait I call my husband and he tells me he already talked to the doc and she was giving him the squeeze and he said no, no, no.  Here she comes telling me the same thing she told my husband.  Needless to say I left paying for what I received and that's that.The desk out front was chaotic at best.  People waiting to bring animals, pick up animals and just plain waiting.  I've never seen it like this before.  Girls at the desk were not happy.I can't believe that I will ever return.  I believe Coddle Creek has been sold to some corporate entity because it's not what it was 6 months ago.  This was worse than Cracker Barrel trying to upsell you with candy when you pay. Very thankful for this place. So close and I always feel very taken care of. They never make you feel rushed and Dr. Long is great! She always presents you with all the options and informs you so you can make the best decision. The other thing that is nice is most prescriptions they will call in to Walmart pharamacy so that you pay much less then getting it at a Vet's. I highly recommend them. Read Less

I stopped going there after several years of not so compassionate care, techs pushing immunizations on my dogs regardless of my questions, and being particularly unhelpful when I called about abandoned kittens found in the street. Moved my pets care to Lakecross where everyone is welcoming, friendly, and when the occasional stray shows up at my house, they always have creative ways to help treat them and place them. Read Less

Coddle Creek Animal Hospital is the best! I especially like Dr. Packan, she is very knowledgeable and helpful. She has taken care of my pets since 1999, when I first moved to Charlotte. I travel out of my way for her to care for my pets because I so trust her and her staff. It is worth the extra time. Read Less

I absolutely love Dr Tanner @ Coddle Creek! We have been going there for several years and he has been amazing with all my animals. In less than a year we have had to put down our dog, Lady, and one of our cats, Cooper, and both times Dr Tanner made an awful situation a little easier. We've never had any issues getting appointments and Dr Tanner is always there if I have any questions! Our dog had a minor surgery on his eye. After a few weeks he had significant complications that resulted in a run to the emergency vet where they discussed seeing an ophthalmologist and the possibility of losing his eye. Dr. Tanner was quick to return our call, and having already reviewed the emergency vet records he shared his thoughts on what might be the issue and made room in his schedule for us to come in. To our great joy he was correct in diagnosing the issue and was able to take corrective measures that day. It is obvious he takes pride in his work and wants to do all that he can to help the animals. He and his staff were great at making our dog feel comfortable even when in pain and agitated. He also did a great job of explaining to me what was going to happen, how it would happen and why we were doing it. Highly recommended.Read Less

If your dog needs surgery or you have an emergency, skip Coddle Creek and go straight to Carolina Vet Specialists. My family has gone to Coddle Creek since the year it opened with two dogs. Bottom line - they are great for checkups, minor illness, and well-visits, but terrible for surgery and emergencies. About six years ago, we pointed out a tumor on our (indoor) dogs hind leg days at-most a week or two after it appeared. They specifically told us it was a "pocket of fluid." Questions about cancer and biopsy were treated as if our family was being overly concerned, borderline paranoid. They told us this a few times more until we stopped worrying. SIX YEARS years later, at a standard checkup, we find ourselves rushing our dog into emergency surgery to remove the same tumor as it was now deemed cancerous when for the past 5+ years it wasn't even worth biopsy. What ensued was a surgery with the worst planning and wound management one could imagine. Our beloved dog endured 5+ weeks of his incision ripping open weekly while on a barrage of medication and on bed rest with 24/7 supervision. The incision was made horizontally across his large muscles on the hind legs, rather than vertically to dissipate stress on the skin.  We have a MD and RN in our family who both confirmed this should've never been cut horizontally. Furthermore, they used staples to close the wound. We had to return 5+ times - where staples were haphazardly placed outside of anesthesia. In the end, they gave up. $2000 and a second major surgery later, Carolina Vet Specialist fixed the situation by making vertical incisions which managed the stress on the wound and six weeks later our dog finally began day 1 of healing. Six months later we returned with a new emergency.After about $500 and two days of observation at Coddle Creek we left without a single answer. It would take between $600-1000 to get those answers. For $100 and about 30 minutes of their time - Carolina Vet Specialist confirmed our worst nightmare. The cancer that had been lingering in our dogs leg for six years had metastasized to the spleen and it had ruptured, causing internal bleeding. We put our dog down two days ago and will forever regret not getting a second opinion six years ago. Read Less

I love coddle creek and wouldn't take my pet anywhere else. They never made me feel like my worries over Tidbit were unfounded. (At times they were). They really listened and explained things to u in a way that you understood. They treat their patients better than a lot of doctors treat humans. They laugh with you and cry with you, you become family. After 13 years of dealing with me, cynthia wright, they get 5 stars! I can never thank you all enough for the love shown to my Tidbit. We just moved to the area from Mi and hadn't found a vet when it became apparent it was time to say goodbye to our precious 21 year-old kitty, Maci. I started going here over 10 years ago. I have cats and dogs. Most were strays and rescues, one even a puppy mill survivor. Several of them have health issues and the doctors have been wonderful. They have been with me through baby shots and the loss of my babies. They have done life saving surgery and diagnosed complicated health issues. A wonderful, caring group of veterinarians and supporting staff. I have been taking my beloved pets to Coddle Creek for over 14 yrs and have received tremendous care. One of my kitties lived to 21 yrs old!!! and I presently have a 14-1/2 yr old labrador and a 20-1/2 yr old domestic tabby. My lab adores Dr Tanner with reckless abandon and looks forward to his visits and getting his licks in. I have been a long time client of CCAH and I cannot say enough good things about them. I have had multiple animals treated there, my own as well as rescue animals and the level of care has been wonderful. The vets are very knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. They are always willing to research and find the best answer for difficult cases. The staff themselves have always been so kind and caring too. I never have trouble getting an appointment or getting a return call from the vets. Took my over hyper dachshund here for a yearly wellness/ shot appt along with a nail trim. Any other vet had to knock my dog out to get her nails done. Dr. Tanner was able to do it drug free, and my little one was at ease with him. The staff was very friendly as well. Highly recommend this vet to anyone in the area. Read Less

Took my puppy here because he wasn't feeling well. Called that morning and they got me in at 9am. Saw Dr. Bo Little and he was great. Didn't make my visit seem rushed and seemed to really care about my puppy's wellness. Give it 4 stars just because it seemed a little pricey. The exam alone was $54 and then he had 2 antibiotics, guess that's the price for good vet care tho. Read Less

I have 3 dogs and just recently switched vets.  My old vet office just got so outrageous on their prices and ridiculous health screening requirements that I decided to find a new vet.  I got numerous recommendations from friends that this place was great.  Indeed it was.  I am always able to get a very quick appointment (even on Saturdays with not much notice yeah) and their prices are much better than other offices I have dealt with.  I have 3 dogs and they worked with me so that I could bring all 3 of them in at the same time to get them entirely up to date.  They did a great job with this and put is in a large waiting room with plenty of room for my big dogs.  They also have a pet portal in which you can access all of your animals info 24/7. (very handy if you board your animals and have to show proof of vacinnations on a holiday)  The doctors were great, the care was great and the prices were good.  They even gave me a discount since I had 3 dogs.  I highly recommend this very clean, friendly and affordable office. Between my parents and I we have five animals (4 cats and 1 dog) that are regularly seen at Coddle Creek. Each animal has always given the proper care and concern by every vet in the practice. The office staff is also great as I frequently overreact and ask to bring my animal in for the slightest symptom. They have always been accommodating and have never told me that they couldn't fit me in. Their pricing is reasonable (especially since I am used to vet prices in Miami, FL) for the quality of care that my babies receive. I have never felt pressured to make any decisions around my pets' care and I am always provided several options to make an informed decision. I would highly recommend their services to any pet owner. My son is in Iraq fighting for his country. I am dog sitting his Great Dane untill he returns. I called to get the dogs shot/medical history as I need to take him to the vet. These people refused to give me any information on the dog without his signature. They are using the fact that they have his records to try to make mm me bring the dog to them. All they have done is insured that I NEVER use their services. Ifg you are in the military or have family members in the military stay as far away from this vet as possible as they have no consideration for those of use who take care of their animals. Read Less

they show a true love for the animals they treat and setting up a convienant time has always been a breeze. i have went to quite a few vets and most treat your animals like they are in an assembly line with long wait times we arive and they take us right in my puppy looks forward going in the door maybe its the free treats or the gental touches. i have never had a hard time with traffic there but i normally pick a time when its not during rush hour.
