We have taken our cat and dog to the Animal Hospital of Cornelius and always very pleased with front staff and Vets. I had a cat that would have been 22 this Christmas. My dogs have always gotten the best of care there and when I board my dogs at their facility I always know that they are safe, well cared for and medicine/food instructions are followed with great care. If your pets are your children, bring them here. I have been taking my dog Sammy here since he was 8 weeks old. I have always had the best experience with them, they always remember Sammy and can always seem to fit us in during our busy schedules. Sammy loves going there and a couple of times he weaseled his way out of his collar and behind the desk just to get more pets. Last year we moved to New York, and found a vet up here (for emergencies) but we still make the 12 hour drive 2x a year just to make sure Sammy gets looked at by his favorite place. Brought my husky in today (Sunday)for the first time for an injury under his eye. Great service from start to finish. We were Checked in and seeing the vet within 10 minutes. Her and her assistant were very professional and explained our options and recommendations. They took very good care of our dog having to stitch his eye lid and we can hardly tell where the injury is now. After they were done stiching him up They took the time to sit down and explain the medication and cleaning process to us. I have never in my life had greater service than I have at this vet! The entire staff treats me and my dog Dodger like family. Reception is so kind and greets me with smiles as soon as i walk in. The technicians are incredible and Dr. DeGraaff is extremely nice, thorough and takes time explaining to me what is going on with my pup. I will never take my dog anywhere else, this entire staff truly goes above and beyond providing the best care I could ask for!Read Less

WARNING! I do not recommend and would never go back to this vet clinic. I went in to have my beloved cat's toenails clipped. A simple enough task that should have been uneventful, however, it was very upsetting. I wanted to go in and be with my cat, who was naturally frightened, but they said their policy was that they didn't allow customers to be in with the technician and patient. I persisted as I wasn't about to let them take my precious cat, my best friend, without me by her side to reassure and comfort her and they begrudgingly allowed me to. They had suggested I stay and pay the bill, while her nails were being clipped! (This supports the comment elsewhere that all they care about is the money). The technician did a great job and was very nice and friendly, unlike the 2 young girls at the reception desk. One of them just stared and watched, while the other one did all the talking. I asked if I could go in with my cat in future for nail clippings and they said it's not their policy to allow customers in with their pets. I asked why. They said, well there could be another animal in there and there could be a fight! What? There was no other animals wandering around and there shouldn't be. They said if my cat was in a fight with another one, something serious like that they wouldn't allow me in there either. I have been bringing my pets into vets with me by their side all my adult life and I am not about to stop now. What are they hiding? What are they doing that they don't want the customers there to witness? I told them I don't agree or like this policy. They were indifferent. They also questioned why I had a 3 year rabies vaccine, because they prefer to give only 1 year vaccines as the 3 year ones cause "cancer" Sounds like they are trying to make more money again, office visit, vaccine each year instead of 3 year. They said I would have to sign a waiver accepting the risk of cancer if I wanted a 3 year rabies vaccine. I have news for them. if the 3 year vaccine causes cancer, so does the 1 year one. All the time, one gal did all the talking, the other one just staring, very strange situation. I thanked them and walked out, they never acknowledged my thanks, not saying a word. Very odd young ladies there. I was so upset that when I got home I phoned and told them I didn't agree with their policies and would never come back there and asked them to destroy the file they just made up. The girl said, "sure thing, we'll take care of it. Have a great day." By the way they charged $19.18 for the toenail clipping. About $5.00 more than what I have paid elsewhere. $20 bucks for a nail clipping? Gouging. There are so many good vets in the area, why settle for this group? Competent and CaringWe've been going to Animal Hospital of Cornelius for 18 years now.  First with a Chocolate Lab and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and now with a very allergy prone Pembroke.  We normally see Dr. Kevin Jones who is phenominal. When I say, phenominal, I am referring not only to his medical expertize but also to his concern for the animals.  Lexi the Corgi has had two life threatening reactions before.  The last time, he ended up at an Emergency Vet for a week till he regained strength and he recovered enough to come home.  Unfortunately Animal Hospital of Cornelius does not provide 24 hour care for Critically Ill animals ( I wish the did ) so we had to use the Emergency Vet.Each time we went to the Emergency Vet while he was recuperating, the staff would tell us, Dr. Kevin called to check on him at 6 am this morning, or he called at 11pm last night.  He probably called 15 times while Lexi was there.  He even went to the point of giving his private cell phone number to my wife with instructions to call if we ever had any problems.We're up there a couple of times a month not that every time is for medical reasons but because they also groom him and trim his nails and if we go to Atlanta to see the new Grandson, they also board Lexi. Last time was just this past week to get weighed and groomed.Would I recommend Animal Hospital of Cornelius to anyone?  I've probably recommended them at least 2 dozen times over the years and everyone I've referred have loved the service. Best surgeon ever, my german shepherd had to have a corrective knee surgery because his knee was loose, it's called tta. batista my shepherd could not put any weight on his left leg. it has been 5 months now and he has not limp a bit. I am so happy that dr jones could fix his knee. he runs and plays again, he's 5 now and I couldn't bare the thought that he would never walk comfortably again. the prices were good too. Read Less

Amazing office. Just moved here from New York, called yesterday and they had availability for today.  We walked in and immediately met with a pleasant staff.  We went into the examining room and the assistant took my dog in a separate  area where she weighted her, did blood work and clipped her nails.  The doctor then came in and finished the exam and administered the vaccinations my dog loved her didn't even wimper.  Great experience I would highly recommend this vet. Very easy to make appointments, especially if its an emergency. We see Dr langford, she is the greatest with the dogs. Everyone who works here is always very nice and are obviously animal lovers. My only complaint is their meds are a little overpriced (as most vet offices in nice little suburban areas are) and on occasion, I've waited a good 20 minutes after being put in the examination room for the vet tech to even show up. At least they take the time they need with each animal I guess. Also like other clinics, each doctor has different pricing for examinations and procedures. It can vary a bit at this location since there's quite a few vets (six maybe?).Patients can also always swing by to get weighed, which is especially handy for jumbo puppies you can't lift onto the bathroom scale at home. These people that call themselves animal lover's or at the very least animal care giver's uh no. I was about $25 dollars short on treating both of my dog's who had been poisoned. $25 dollars I told them they could hold my atm card until the money hit the next morning. They are the closest 24 hour Vet to me. They told me no flat out NO! I had to either PICK 1 OF MY DOG'S OR PUT THEM BOTH DOWN! THEIR WORDS HERE ""YOU WILL HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY A NEW DOG! I didn't want a new dog I wanted mine! Luckily by the time I finished crying I found my regular vet's home number which i do not recommend. She was upset, but she saved both of my dogs for $100 less and said she would have happily take part of the payment the next day it was only 3 hours. I work as a registered veterinary technician for a vet clinic on the other side of the state. My parents take their cat here. The Animal Hospital of Cornelius is not very big on client education. They left my cat's hyperthyroid undiagnosed for about 3 years when she had very obvious clinical signs. Not once did anyone explain the importance of bloodwork to my parents and how it can test for abnormalities within the body. I was not a registered technician yet or else I would have. She has obvious teeth problems (possible resorptive lesions) with a significant amount of tartar on her teeth. They said the teeth were fine and nothing needed to be done to them, not even a cleaning. Needless to say, good luck finding a good vet who will be able to diagnose problems accordingly. I have to write down anything I think will help my cat and have my parents bring it up at the appointments now so the vet and techs will say ""ooh yeah, lets try this"". I should not HAVE to do this every time she goes in. I would NOT recommend this vet hospital to anyone. Read Less

This is the best animal hospital. They took in my kitten, Jude, for a whole week when he got a tear in his colon. They stitched him up for free because they'd never done the procedure before and only charged me boarding fees since he was ""such a good boy"" and didn't require much tending to. However, they kept his wound clean and gave him antibiotics and played with him daily, so I know he was well-cared for. Dr. Kevin did a wonderful job of giving Jude a chance at life when I was pretty sure we were going to have to put him down. And Dr. Bucy called me almost daily to give me updates on his progress. Both were tremendous throughout the whole ordeal. My total bill after a whole week's stay: $250. I am impressed and will refer all my friends to them! Read Less

I've used this Animal Hospital with 3 pet's of mine. Whenever I had an emergency they took me right in. Over the past 5 years I've had the pleasure of seeing 4 doctors and they all were exceptional with my dogs. When my River dog was sick, the bills were growing, they still saw my dog, Dr Jones even waived the visit fee, he knew how much I loved my dog. We take our Beagles to Dr. Kevin and found him to be extremely gentle and caring with them. He handles our pets like he's taking care of human babies. Dr. Kevin is obviously in the right profession. I've taken animals to other vets and there is no similarity. The others were rough and uncaring; the opposite is true here. I've seen Dr. Kevin interact with his own children and children of others and he treats animals in the same meek, mild, and respectful manner. The staff at the office have always been caring and are very professional. If someone feels ""wronged"" by this practice, take it up with your offender and don't slander a great professional like Dr. Kevin Jones. Read Less

I love this place, Dr. Kevin Jones has been so helpful since finding out that our 10 year old lab Ubu is experiencing liver failure-I can not tell you how important this animal is to our family. she is my best friend. Dr. Jones has been very informative on what to look for as she nears the end, he has taken the time to talk with me, he was there on the weekend to provide us with liver specific food for Ubu. He is very caring and always puts me at ease when talking of Ubu's sickness. I will continue to take our Black Lab to Dr. Jones, the dogs love him and thats all that counts--as far as the financial part-you can not put a budget on your pets welfare. The one-star rating is VERY puzzling becuase if anyone could witness how they have lovingly taken care of our three ""kids"" (adoraable cats), it would be impressive and then some. They are hand-holding compassionate, gentle as can be and patiently understanding. In our 9-plus years with them, I can only consider them as a model veterinary agency. Both Dr. Joneses - the elder (owner) and his son - are outstanding examples of professionals in their field. I would unhesitatingly recommend them to anyone with ""non-human family members"". Dr. Kathy Halada is also an awesome professional! (I know of but one finer 'vet' in the area and she has retired.) In fact, the entire staff at Animal Hospital of Cornelius (NC) are SO professional and care SO much about both pet and owner that they will recommend ""patients"" to extreme veterinary specialists in the Charlotte area if they realize they're not able to diagnose something accurately or treat it properly (oncology issues, for example). That certainly ""flies in the face"" of the claim that they are nothing but a money machine. I don't take my ""kids"" to the doctor because of the lowest price; I'm after their best healthcare. I have been a client of the Animal Hospital of Cornelius for over seven years. They have become increasingly worse over the past five years. There are a couple of good vets there...however, outside of these caring individuals the practice is NOT concerned with the animals...only the profits. I have three dogs - and have been a great client for years. I left because of the office manager PAM and the vet owner Dr. Jones. TERRIBLE BUSINESS...BEWARE.
