South Granville Animal Hospital

I did like south Granville animal hospital since they took good care of my lab, but I realized they were just in it for the money!! I recently let them care for my chihuahua pup but they did a terrible job bc my pup died!!! After all the money I spent with them she still died! I googled the medicine they gave my pup and it said to not give it to dogs under 16 weeks mine was only 8 weeks. And it also said not to continuously give that meds to a dog which they gave to mine 3 straight days. My pup was doing better until I took her by there to get a shot of fluid and nausea meds and a few hours later my pup was dead. She was doing better until I took her up there for those 2 shots the vet said she needed. I will no longer take any of my animals there again!! My lab will go to a new vet rather than a vet that doesn't even have an on call number. I called both the numbers on their voicemail for emergency's and they dont work with South Granville animal hospital. I believe they overdosed my poor pup and I'm devastated she died!! South Granville animal hospital can take their fake smiles and serve them to someone dumb enough to believe them!! Read Less

I am not pleased that I was not given the option to find my pet's medication at a lower price. If I ask for a prescription, give it to me...don't tell me that you can fill the prescription and then charge 40% higher than other vendors. I am not happy right now. Read Less

Dr. Dudley is wonderful! She is the best vet ever! She saved our pet's life a few years ago and is taking wonderful care of the one we have now. She is professional, personable, proficient and passionate about what she does. Miriam at the front desk is so warm and friendly. The staff is very kind as well. Awesome! Dr. Dudley is the best vet ever!! She saved our pet's life several years ago and is presently taken care of our new pet's needs and doing a fantastic job!! She goes above and beyond and lives out the saying, "People don't care how much you know - until they know how much you care". The staff was very nice and friendly. Brought my healthy dog for boarding. They took her in on no notice which is wonderful and boarding costs were low. I called regularly to get updates and every day it was fine. When I picked her up I noticed she was very skinny. I weighted her myself in the office scale to find out she lost 5lbs in the 2 wks she was there. They also told me that the last few days she was having bloody diarrhea due to stress of being boarded. What upset me was the fact that no one ever called me to tell me until the day I picked her up. They even examined her & gave her medicine without informing beforehand. I don't think their care was neglible at all but quite insensitive to caring owners who want to be in the know especially since I called just about every day or every other day for the 2 wk board. I also found out on the bill only that I was charged for flea medicine they gave her that I did not agree or consent to. When I questioned the charge I was told that the medicine is per the policy for boarding on the first & last day of boarding. Again I would be ok with it if I was at least informed beforehand. I'm not sure if this practice is not used to attentive owners but this greatly inhibited my trust in the clinic. When I brought my dog home the "little bit" of diarrhea was copious constant bloody diarrhea and vomiting of blood as well. I immediately called back and they said it was from boarding stress. I have boarded her for many years for extended periods and she has NEVER had this before. In the one day of being home she lost another 4lbs and the next morning was totally lethargic and her gums pale and was unresponsive. I truly believe she almost could've died that day. I brought her back to the vet as an emergency. They checked her stool for parasites that was negative and couldn't explain why she was so sick other than boarding stress. They also mentioned she needed her teeth cleaned with a possible extraction. Cost would be anywhere from $800-1,000. They prescribed her a fungal medicine that fortunately coupled with plenty of my tlc she made a full recovery! This was the first time she has ever been this sick in her 7 yrs of life. In my heart of hearts I know in my bones that she caught something or some virus at the hospital or maybe she drank some contaminated water from the field they walk the dogs behind the hospital. I was a little upset they charged me for the office visit the next day since she became sick under their care, but I understand they need to make a living. Again the vet & staff were extremely nice but the whole event bittered my experience. On top of that,I brought her back to her old vet to get her teeth cleaned and yes she did have tartar build up but her teeth were in perfect condition and the vet said it was absurd to say she would need an extraction. I paid a fraction of the cost. These two experiences has impaired my future trust in bringing back my pets there. Read Less

After dealing with the big chain vet hospital, I was very unsatisfied with their care and decided to come to South Granville Animal Hospital. I have only ever dealt with Dr.Scappino, and she is absolutely fabulous. The staff is super friendly and very helpful.  On several occasions Dr. Scappino has gone out of her way to help my pets.  In fact, I would say she goes above and beyond. It's apparent that she cares about animals, she loves what she does, she KNOWS what she's doing, and she's not out to make a quick buck. I will always advocate for her. Read Less

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! I took my 7 year old Chihuahua to see Dr. Dudley two weeks ago for breathing hard and coughing. She looked at him for only a couple of minutes after she complained about being bitten by too many chihuahuas. (My chihuahua does not even have that temperament). She quickly diagnosed him with allergies without running any other tests. She also said he needed his teeth cleaned and then left. (His teeth had no tartar build up, but is a service I'm sure she makes the most money on). My dog died of heart failure yesterday. After doing some research, I learned that the symptoms he had were an exact match for the symptoms of heart failure. I spoke to her and she then lied about recommending to my family additional tests and scheduling a recheck. We would have definitely opted for the additional tests if they were needed and brought him a week later if she had recommended it. She does not care and was not sympathetic, nor offered a refund for her few minutes of time and unrelated diagnosis. MY DOG IS GONE and I blame her for not being a caring doctor, but instead, a crooked doctor after your money and NOT your dogs well being. Read Less

Friendly staff and knowledgable.  I didn't take any stars away for this but the place has a little bit of "ripe" smell to it (hehe).  I know, I know - it's a vet's office - it's supposed to smell like animal.    Maybe I'm just used to them not smelling as strong as this one.  I almost walked out my first visit.   I'm glad I stayed because this is as good as it gets for Creedmoor.  The entire staff is good to my  pets and make me feel that they love my furbabies as much as I do.   Good doctors but above all knowledgeable.
