Love the convenience of a local Animal Hospital. We take all our dogs and cats here for their routine medical care. There is only one doctor here to my knowledge. Every one that works here is very nice and knowledgeable. I didn't give the 5th star because they have their limits. We are lucky on the West side of Lake Norman to also have a after hours and weekend vet. Read Less

Very pleased with our vets for our 52 lb dog and our cat. We have used thrm since summer of 2016. They are full service vet clinic and hospital, plus boarding. Because they have no 'runs' for dogs, we only board dog for short stays ( she goes to Denver Canine Club for longer stays) but they always love her and she is sociable and happy, but we board the cat for longer stays when needed. After feeling ignored by the front office at East Lincoln Animal Hosp and having prescription error for my dog with cancer and paying exceedingly higher prices, I’m so glad I decided to move all my pups’ care to Dr McLean and his wonderful caring staff. The prices are dramatically less, the attention you and your pet receives feels much more personalized. When I call, I speak to a human right away who listens and can actually answer my questions. I have recommended some of my friends with same ELAH frustrations to transfer their pups and they have likewise been pleasantly surprised by the more caring West Shore experience. Read Less

The care and love they showed my badly injured cat was amazing!! We had to go twice a week for bandage changing and wound care for about a month (the ER Vet didn't give us much hope). I have no doubt West Shore saved Mouse's life! He is now as normal as any other cat and you can't even tell his whole leg was de-gloved. To me and my house - they are amazing!!!! Read Less

I love the Vets here at West Shore Animal Hospital they are very nice! Most of the tech. are very nice the ones I have met. But I have heard people stating they need nicer receptionist. I agree! If I did not like the vets so much I probably would not drive that distance since I live close to Maiden and I drive to Denver to the vet. It don't hurt to be nice and kind and show a smile every now and then! I have yet to see a couple of the receptionist smile! They sorta make you feel like they don't have time for you and could care less if you speak to them or not. So with that being said, the only thing that keeps me going back to West Shore Animal Hospital is the nice kind Vets! Read Less

I live here in Denver NC, and my dog Dusty was fifteen and half years old. When it came to put him down we really didn't know where to go. My husband stopped in the office and talked to the ladies at the desk. They were so compassionate to my husband who could barley get out , that we needed someone to put Dusty to sleep. They took care of everything ,the ladies helped my husband fill out the paper work and have everything ready for us to bring Dusty in the next day. The next day we took Dusty our dog in they gave us a private room , and the vet came in and told us what would happen. They took Dusty in the back and started his I.V. When Dusty came back to our room the vet gave us a few more minutes with Dusty to say good bye. When the vet came back he gave Dusty his shot and Dusty went right to sleep. I'll never forget what the vet said as Dusty laid there, he said for a dog to live that long he must have been loved so much.. That was the kindest thing he could have said to us. Couple of days later the West Shore Hospital sent us the nicest card , with a personal message to us. But the best thing was inside the card was Dusty paw print ,which I never thought about doing. Picked up Dusty one week later in the prettiest craved box . The best was we got a clay paw print for me to put in the oven and I'll have forever. Also they added Dusty to the Good Shepard pet services where they did the cremation and now I can go to the web and I already added pictures Of dusty. For one of the hardest thing my husband and I ever have done . Thank God we found the best West Shore Animal Hospital to go to. Read Less

Vastly overcharges for drugs!!!! We were charged $83.00 for a box of FortiFlora - regular change at our great vet in Hickory - $34.00. Also will not dispense drugs ordered through our vet - wants to check the dog - another way to make more money. Read Less

Our family had an older dog that we took to West Shore for grooming. We thought that the staff as caring and nurturing. Unfortunately, when we went on a weekend vacation, we left him under West Shores care. When we returned from our holiday, we were informed that he was passing away and needed to be put down, as many old pets must. During his stay he suffered from a stroke and became paralyzed. Before we left for the weekend, thinking our dog was healthy and would come back home, we asked West Shore to bathe him. They never called us and asked if we still wanted him to be groomed since he was paralyzed and was experiencing intense pain. Even though West Shore knew he was paralyzed, they forced our innocent dog to stand for hours on end and tortured him by bathing him, blow drying his fur for hours, cutting his toenails, trimming his fur, even though they knew he was to be euthanized immediately. They used expensive soaps and shampoos. Had they not done this, we would be able to afford to take his body home. To this day, sadness still reverberates in our family over the inability to pay for his body, because we had to pay for the cruel and unnecessary grooming. West Shore is just a business. Our dog was our friend and family member, more than any human relative. However, West Shore does not think of our beloved pets and friends as loved ones, but as cash in their pockets. They do not care if ones pet is suffering, if they are in pain and passing away, they just want to make the last few bucks. We were never even given an apology from West Shore. Best vet you're going to find in the area.  Dr.Reed is very good and has a lot of great suggestions.  He will only vaccine what's necessary, unlike many others that just want to upsell you.  Awesome staff as well. Read Less

Do not board. Have been going to West Shore for about 4 years now. Dropped off dog for boarding and she needed heart worm test then a shot. Ended up being charged for things I did not request and their answer to me was "Well she thought you meant whatever". Well here's one for the record, NEVER ASSUME!!This was the first time boarding our dog there and she smelt like pee when we picked up and had to give a bath. Which makes me wonder how many times she was let out on Sunday. They also said she had a stomach problem but never gave me a call to let me know, nor did they tell my daughter who picked her up. Very dissatisfied with Hospital, will go to Mountain Island on 150 from now on. Read Less

I have two dogs that look forward to going to this vet. The service is great and the prices are not only reasonable but much less then vets I have used in the past. My one dog tore both her acl tendons in her hind legs and Dr. Reed and staff helped make this process and great as you possible can. As vets go, I'm generally not a fan. They always want to push their high dollar dog food on you or want you to schedule office visits for your pet that really are'nt needed. This one is diiferent. Yes they will make suggestions of their products, but if you decline, they wont push them on you any further.All of the staff from the vets to the techs really seem concerned about your pets well being. They must be doing something right because all I have to do is say "Ya wanna go to the vet?" and my dog is at the door ready to get into the truck an go!  As long as Buddy likes 'em and they treat him well, thats good enough for me.They also have boarding at very reasonable prices. I cannot say enough about this Animal Hospital. THEY ARE AWESOME!! I am traveling across town just to go to this Veterinarian's office. The distance doesn't matter when you are so happy with the care. Dr Reed is just so compassionate about helping your pet, and the staff is phenominal....they are absolutely an extension of his passion to help you in every way. I cannot say enough about the concern and care they give and how prompt they are to your needs. You will not be disappointed in anyway when you come to Dr Reed.
