Vash (the puppenoid typhoon!) and I have been coming here since we moved up from Anderson, SC about three years ago.  He's had his wellness/physicals here for a few years, and he's boarded a few nights, think he was sad to come home.  He absolutely adores Mark (vet tech) and Dr. D.This time, it came back not so good.  Mr. Vash had some cancer in his testicles and needed surgery.  Stephanie did the snip, snip -- saved my dog's life.  I know it's not for long -- he's an old man -- but every year she can give me is worth gold.  They did the job, and he came home the same night.  They even loaned me a towel to help him up the stairs at the house.Office area and exam rooms are always clean.  The staff are amazing.  With the current Big-C crisis, I've called probably a dozen times, and they've always been great to answer my most dopey questions.  I actually asked Dr. D about freezing a 12 year old 95lb dog's sperm. . . sigh, parenthood. We've had nothing but greatness from these guys, so if you live in the Oak Grove area or NE Durham in general, good hospital to use! 100% behind Dr. D and her staff.  They're awesome! I've been going to Oak Grove since I came back to North Carolina after grad school. Never posted a review before since I've only had the regular maintenance done (poop, blood, vaccines, give me my heart-worm meds). This time though, Vash came back with the big C in his testes. Ut-oh! Dr. D and her staff did an amazing job. She even loaned me a towel to help him get up the stairs at the house after surgery and anesthesia. Really great, caring, pet-loving people. Vash is recovering well (though a bit stoned on pain meds), and fingers crossed on the pathology report. The office and exam rooms are always clean and nice. The staff are genuine and caring. The resident office cats are friendly and only slightly terrified when you bring in a 95lb+ German Shepherd/Collie mix. I try not to helicopter too much, but they're very understanding if you call over and over and over again :D Dr. D and the staff always give you options, and the pricing is always competitive. It's not cheap, but no vet is. Don't know if they do payment/insurance style stuff. I've always just forked over my debit card and called it a day. They're also really good about explaining things to those of us (myself included) who don't have a DVM. If you're looking for a place in NE Durham to take your fur babies, I highly recommend this hospital. Read Less

Had the worst experience today! Took my dog in for a booster shot and possible skin issue that showed up the night before. The vet was rude and refused to talk to me or look at my dog's skin issue. The walls were thin there and I heard all the rude comments she exchanged with her assistant. They wanted me to set up another appointment aside from the one I was already there for! Total waste of my time. My dog is a shelter dog and doesn't do well at the vet. But let's be honest, who likes going to see the doctor? This vet didn't even bother giving him treats or making him feel comfortable. She didn't even see my dog until after the assistant had him tied up behind the door! She is really rude and unkind to animals. I don't know why she even became a vet! I'm never taking my dog to this place ever again. Had a family cat for over 14 years growing sick who has gone here his whole life. Front desk experience has been great. Vet is all about money and has little to no compassion for the pets or their family in my opinion. All about the money in my opinion. Do NOT take your pet here to be put to sleep due to illness, age etc. if you expect any kind of compassion. Had to use another vet 2 years ago to have an older dog put to sleep. 100% compassion, they told us to take out time and made our pet as comfortable as possible, you can feel when you are valued. I've taken all my pets to Oak Grove Animal Hospital for many, many years. Dr. Dalrymple and the staff are professional, knowledgeable, and obviously care deeply about providing quality health care for all the pets that come to this hospital. My dog even looks forward to boarding at Oak Grove! It is exceptionally clean and she gets lots of attention! Recently, when we had to have our 15 year old dog put to sleep, they showed great compassion and support during this trying time. I'll continue to take all my pets here and highly recommend this practice to everyone! Thanks Dr. D. Read Less
