Dr. Lapham is my favorite veterinarian I have EVER been to. Dr. Lapham truly CARES about each and every single pet that walks into his office. He provides all natural ways to cure your pet, the best advice to keep your pet healthy and around for a very long time and for crazy dog mamas like me he provides knowledge backed by science as well as his own personal experience to give you the confidence needed to heal your pet. Could not recommend Dr. Lapham enough, I wish he could travel wherever we go!!! We are a military family and moving a lot causes us to find new vets all the time. Even when we moved to the Richmond area I drove back to see Dr. Lapham, because our vet in the Richmond area was so terrible. If you're in the area you and your pet must see him! Also the staff at the hospital is super friendly and helpful, AND they're very affordable!! All around five out of five stars. Read Less

We have been coming to Southpoint Animal Hospital since it opened. We were new dog owners then, and hadn't met a vet we really trusted. Over the years we have worked predominantly with Dr. Lapham and Dr. Doyle, both of whom have given our dogs amazing care. Our first dog got old, had a lot of medical issues and eventually needed to be put to sleep. The vets gave us good, caring advice. They helped us make the right decisions for our dogs. I will always be grateful to everyone at SAH for taking such good care of our dogs and of us. Read Less

I'm new to Durham & hadn't established a primary vet for my cat April. I was concerned when my cat wasn't acting like herself. Southpoint Animal Hospital was the closest place to my house so I took her there. Immediately they treated me like family and examined April. Unfortunately she was sicker than I originally thought, but Dr. Elise and her staff treated her with the utmost respect and helped me say goodbye to my sweet friend. Thankful for their time & concern. They treated me and April like family from the very beginning. I'm not ready for another pet right now, but when I am - they will be cared for at SPAH. Read Less

I hate to give this place a 1 Star because the people there were just as nice as can be and thoughtful durning the hardest time ever, but the lack of responsibility they took in there miss handling of paper work is un forgivable. I had to have my Great Dane put down after 11 Years she fell and broke her hip, I wanted to have her ashes so I could keep her with me. My father and now husband filled out the people work and I made SURE they put her to be cremated, the doctors even said I see we want her cremated. I reach out to them as I haven't heard from them in a week, and was told there was a mistake and they had buried my dog and wouldn't be able to get her back It was devastating and heart breaking, and I didn't get anything, not an I'm sorry or anything. I won't go back which is sad because they staff that helped me in my horrible time of need was amazing but for the lack of not paying attention made everything that much more worse. Read Less

Forced to pay a doctors visit when you're going to put the animal to sleep.  $over $200.00 to have her cremated and get the ashes back. What a scam at a time when you're grieving.  Tyson animal hospital is $35 for euthanize and $150 to get the ashes back. Most expensive and unreasonably priced vet I've ever been to. Brought my dog in for a senior exam and walked out with a $250+ bill. Since my dog didn't go to the bathroom while we were there, I took home a collection kit, no big deal. The next day I get an email saying that I had to drop off the sample within the next few days or else was going to have to pay an extra lab fee. I wasn't planning on driving the 45 min to Durham that week, but had to go out of my way to drop it off. For the expensive visit that it was, they should absorb such fees.During the original appointment, I had the vet take a look at a small - 1/4 of an inch growth on my dogs foot. She explained the different options for removal. They emailed me an estimate to have it removed two weeks later and it was almost $1k!! Since this appt. I've found a more realistic vet who advised that she's an old dog, the growth itself probably won't cause problems before other things pop up since it's slow growing. But if I wanted to play it safe the estimate was two-thirds the cost as Southpoint. Read Less

I went to this vet because it is the vet of the stud dog I was going to breed with my bitch. This office was clean and nice, and the vet was competent and helpful. The office staff was polite (until I expressed shock at the bill). I was even offered a bottle of water while I waited! I also received my results promptly along with accurate breeding suggestions. However, the bill for a simple follow-up progesterone test (I had done one at home before I left CT) was $278! this same service at UNC Repro the year before (and note that UNC is in the same geographic vicinity of Durham, NC) was under $150 with exams by multiple students - in CT the service would have cost between $125 and $160 - in OH the same service costs around $70 - in VA the same service is around $70. So in my fairly extensive experience, this charge was WAY out of line! My warning is to get pricing information prior to utilizing this vet - I would certainly never use this vet for any kind of reproduction work - can only imagine their pricing for an AI or a C-Section - If I ever go to this area and need any kind of breeding assistance, I will go to UNC! Buyer Beware - I stupidly did not ask them their fees ahead of time, mostly because they were the vet of my friends. Live and Learn. Read Less

I've gone to this vet for years.  I've always liked the practice until I recently saw Dr. Rachel Blackmer.  My dog had a UTI for over a month.  They wanted to keep doing additional tests (for example, a $220 bacterial culture) even after his labs showed that he had a UTI. It wasn't until another vet from outside this practice reviewed my dog's history that I knew that he had one and they chose to ignore it.  Dr. Blackmer told me that his labs were all normal and to give him these cranberry tablets to prevent future UTIs.  Because she ignored these results, my dog suffered for over a month until he couldn't control his urination.  Along the way, I called them several times stating that it appears to be a UTI and asking for an antibiotic. The outside vet immediately prescribed antibiotics and my dog's condition improved within hours.  I asked for a refund of the additional tests that they did after my request for a therapeutic trial of antibiotics and they told me they would.  The next day, they changed their mind and didn't.  After all this, they told me that Dr. Blackmer is a holistic vet and chooses not to prescribe medicines as she prefers herbal remedies and supplements.  They never disclosed this to me and they chose to ignore the availability of antibiotics to treat an infection! After taking her to another practice, that only gave her nausea medication and yet cost me $150, I decided to call Southport. Boy, I'm so glad I did. Even though they had no records on Bella, and never met her.. they still saw her 2 hours after I called. I was greeted by the staff and they made sure we were seen as soon as possible. They even provided a blanket for Bella that had calming pheromones on it. They were so good to her, and did way more for her than the previous vet. The 45 minute drive from Fuquay is worth it and my animals will never go anywhere else. The doctors look at the whole picture of an illness, not just individual symptoms when making a diagnosis and are always available (gave me a cell phone #!!). They are extremely knowledgeable and seem current with new information. Staff is compassionate and treat each animal as if their own. Appointments are punctual and I have never waited more than just a few minutes to be seen, and the facility is very clean. Client interaction is amazing - I recently had to euthanize my cat and the staff was quiet, professional, and respectful of the situation. They gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes and took each step only when we were ready. They wrapped our pet in a blanket (other vets often use a garbage bag) before putting him in the coffin, dimmed the lights, and gave us hugs and even a card. I worked as a vet assistant for many years in the past and have high standards for doctors, staff, and facilities. Southpoint Animal Hosp. exceeds expectations. I would give 10 stars if I could. We've had good experiences here in the past, but recently I was given wrong info and it led to us leaving the practice.  I'll start off by saying the staff always seem to take a genuine interest in our dog, Noah.  Everyone greets him when we enter, which makes us feel welcome.  Noah saw Dr. Elise for the first time 3 wks ago and she recommended a dental cleaning.  She said the cost would be around $250, but more if extractions were warranted.  I asked for an estimate and she said it would be emailed.  After asking twice during the following wk I was told they send them out the wk of the procedure.  I received the estimate of $725-$1096 the night before the cleaning!  That's quite a drastic difference.  I asked to speak with Dr. Elise and was told she would call me, but I have yet to hear from her.  We'll be seeking out a new vet. I have a service dog who has been seen by both Doctors Doyle and Lapham.  They are excellent veterinarians, and their staff is attentive and professional.  I live in Cary, and have visited many vet hospitals in the area....Preston Animal Hospital, Town & Country, Kildaire Farms Animal Hospital, and SOUTHPOINT ANIMAL HOSPITAL is far superior to all of them.  Veterinary fees are expensive, but owners usually will go to the end of the Earth for their pets; Southpoint has reasonable fees, but most importantly, the vets do not suggest unnecessary tests or medication to increase the cost of the visit (many others in the area unfortunately do).  I have recommended this facility to many friends, and their reaction is always the same....."Why didn't you tell me about this place sooner?!"  I will never go any place except SPAH...they are the best! Buyer beware:I thought it was a good idea to switch my pets over to Southpoint Animal Hospital because the office is close to my new home.  Also, I admire the work that Brian Lapham does for German Shepherd Rescue. My cat had an abscess near one of her mammary glands that had gotten infected.  I brought her to see one of the vets, Dr. Rachel Blackmer, who immediately did blood work, some of which didn't pertain to my cat's immediate needs.  One was just to check her liver and kidneys which I knew were good, despite her age and would have refused been given the opportunity. The vet asked all the typical questions about her appetite and activity level, all of which were good.  I explained that my cat's energy was great as was her appetite.  The vet shaved and cleaned around the abscess and indicated that while she hoped it was just an infection she suspected cancer. I was billed $250.Almost immediately, she recommended surgery to remove the "mass", anxious to get my cat scheduled and indeed wanted to schedule the surgery two weeks out that day. Before I brought my cat back to be seen after she finished the course of antibiotics, I received an estimate through email with a ridiculous range: $500 - $1000.  I've had a lot of animals, all of whom have had surgery of one kind or another and never did I see a surgery range like that. Even the Veterinary Specialty Hospital who did surgery on another of my cats a few years back gave me a flat cost. Given my experience, I can only guess it would have been in the upper range. Maybe the lower range is just to encourage people to have the surgery done, futily hoping that it would be on the lower range. When I saw the estimate, I felt outraged and brought my cat to her previous vet who is wonderful, but whose office is an hour from my new home. As it turns out, my cat didn't have cancer, the "mass" was gone.  It turned out to be an infection that the antibiotics had cured.  I suppose had I agreed to the surgery, they would have gone in, seen that the mass was gone, closed her up and charged me anyway, just for their trouble.Aren't vets held to the same standard of "First do no harm"?Buyer beware. The vet technicians and vets at Southpoint are wonderful.  I can't say enough about the quality of care.  However, the front desk staff could use some customer service training.  I am not sure if I tend to catch them on bad days or not, but two different times I was treated like they didn't want to be where they were/I was interrupting whatever it was they were doing.  Customer service is the most important thing a business should be on top of and Southpoint missed the boat. The other issue I had with this practice is they are really busy all the time.  Of course, that's because the vets are great, but generally my pets can't wait 3 or 4 days for an appointment.   To sum up, while I was mostly happy with Southpoint, I found another vet where the front line folks are great and so are the vets and they can always fit me in. Terrible experience. I am brand new to this area and my senior dog developed a cough and lethargy so I called to schedule an appointment to get her checked out.  They scheduled her for 2 days later as they had no appointments prior to that.  Because she had a cough they asked that I call when I got to the office to have someone bring her through a side door as to not infect any other dogs (totally appreciated this).  When I got there I called and waited 20 minutes outside for someone to come let us in. The doctor did x-rays for pneumonia which she ended up having a small case of so they gave me 2 antibiotics and cough meds.  Someone from the front desk came to collect my payment but did not know how much I owed.  It ended up being $327 which I understand with exam, x-rays & meds but they should have known how much I was being charged prior to asking for my payment.  Finally, I got home and realized I was to give her 3/4 of one pill and 1/2 of another pill only to find the pills were not cut. I went back to the office and asked to have the pills cut.  The receptionist came back and said they were unable to cut them but that he could sell me a pill cutter.  Needless to say I was less than impressed.  I had just spent a good amount of time and money and they couldn't cut the pills or give me a pill cuter. Ridiculous.  Needless to say I will never be returning here. Read Less

I love Brian (Dr Lapham) hands down. He is the best veterinarian in Durham. He is very kind and patient. Even with my deaf cat who tends to get a little hissy in strange places. While I can't always get squeezed in in a pinch that's fine. Brian is always responsive to my emails and does not mind that I have a backup in an emergency. I simply have the records faxed to him after the fact and we discuss continued care. I do not know what my pets would do without him. Besides, it would be really inconvenient to drive to the mountains to visit his predecessor Dr Jeff Todd (also amazing). Read Less

I've been a devoted customer for the past 2-3 years (NC resident for 3 years), but as of our latest experience, I will not be returning. I referred my boyfriend to Southpoint who just rescued a pup who was heart worm positive. He got an appointment quickly, but based on his full workup exam said he was highly disappointed in the friendly of the staff, and how informative the doctor was. Ontop of that, his dog needed a followup appointment for a 2nd vaccination and was told they would call to schedule an appointment, never contacted. Ontop of that, the office said they would followup with a heartworm treatment quote, never contacted. Ontop of that, my dog was needing a followup to get renewed for her vaccines, and I mentioned never getting a heartworm quote, I was then told that the doctor he saw has been On Leave, and another doctor will be following up with a quote, never contacted. It has been about 3 months of waiting for a reply back from this place with quotes and have still not been contacted. Neither of us will be returning for either of our dogs health care. No longer recommended. Read Less

I brought my dog to Southpoint Animal Hospital during the Memorial Day weekend. He was brought there on a Friday, and was to be picked up on Sunday. I was told I had to pay up front for boarding. I asked the person at the counter how much, and she said $50. I proceeded to hand her my credit card, and she swiped the card for $50. She then realized she made an error, and said it was $55 instead of $50. I offered to give her the $5 in cash, and she said no worries, I just got a $5 off my bill due to her error. I again offered to pay the $5 before I left, and again she told me not to worry. When I returned to pick up my dog on Sunday, I observed someone paying to pick up their dog with their credit card. I was a little confused, because they insisted that I pay for my dog's boarding before I left. Then I was told I had a balance of $5, when the young lady who charged my credit card for $50 said she made an error, and refused to take the $5 in cash due to her error. I have 2 issues, first, don't tell me that there are no worries regarding the $5 due to your error, and then turn around and press me for $5 when I offered to pay, before I left. When I asked about their policy regarding paying for boarding up front, I was told by one of the clerks over the phone, that it is their policy to pay for boarding for Sunday pick ups, because the cash register is not open to conduct transactions on Sunday. That clearly is a blatant lie, because when I picked my dog up on Sunday, another customer was picking up their dog, and the attendant used the cash register to process her credit card. It appears to me, that there are double standards for some customers, and clearly poor business practices. My advice is to train your clerks on the appropriate fees, so you are not hounding someone after the fact over money, that was due to your attendants error, and if one person can pay for services on a Sunday pick up, then all customers should be able to pay on Sunday. $5 won't make or break me, it's the principal, and integrity goes a long way. I will definitely not use your services again.Dissatisfied Customer Read Less

Two 80lb dogs cost $500 together for a yearly wellness exam and 1yr supply of Heartgard. What I didn't like: They charged me for samples! I'm pretty sure someone lied to me on the phone about what the wellness exam included too (the heartworm and fecal tests), so what was originally estimated to be about $170/ea (60 for wellness, 100 for Heartgard) turned into $260/ea give or take taxes. What I liked: The exam itself was great, and the staff does a great job. Great facility, knowledgeable vets.Bottom line: It's a great place for your pets, but if you're cost-oriented then you'd better have them itemize the costs BEFORE you go in so it's clear what to expect when you come out. In my case, they found an ear infection which cost an additional $100; I expected to leave at $400 but left at $600. Durham vets are expensive, so you won't get away cheap anywhere. Read Less

I couldn't be happier with the care that this hospital provides for my cat and dog. We usually see Dr Doyle, but have also been seen by Dr Farling. Both of them were great. I've never felt rushed - something that I've definitely experienced at other vets. Either they have great memories or are great at keeping track of the pets that come in, but they are always up to date on past events with my pets, even asking about my dog when my cat is being seen or vice versa. Dr Doyle in particular is very patient with the animals. He takes the time to interact with them to earn their trust - that goes a long way in putting them at ease. They're also extremely knowledgable and have a knack for explaining any ailments thoroughly (not dumbed down) and in an easy to understand, eloquent manner. After taking my dog to the same vet in Raleigh for 8 years (had no complaints in particular, just wasn't ever wowed) I'm so glad I moved to Durham to discover this vet so close to my house. It's truly been a blessing in disguise. Take your loved fur ones here and you won't be disappointed. Read Less

The first time was alright. They tried to push medicines on me I didn't need, but were decent when I said no. Still cost me a cool 200 dollars for a "pet exam" and one vaccination when moving my little guy to this new vet hospital, even with his completed vet history. When my dog needed minor, basic surgery, that was another story. The estimates were easy 25% higher than the area norm, trust me I got other estimates. Still, this was the closest place to my house and with a discount from my employer it came down to a reasonable rate as compared to others. In addition, my dog did seem to like the vet and techs. However, I soon realized they would start charging me for things not NECESSARY under the guise that they were concerned about "animal welfare." I was concerned about the amount of pain medication they would be giving my pet. I discussed with a few other vets and they were in consensus the amount was high. SPAH changed the amount /dosing and cost at least 4 times afterwards! It wasn't until I dropped my little guy off for surgery I was hit with another estimate, which I didn't notice until after I dropped him off. After I called, the manager proceeded to argue with me that this was the same estimate. She said she couldn't "find" the original estimate. Mind you it was sent via email, so I pulled it up and sent it to her. After she got it, she refused to accept it. I had already dropped my kiddo off so I told them I would come back and get him. Then, they said they would "work with me" and sent 2 different, more EXPENSIVE estimates. Finally they agreed to honor the first estimate. But they DIDN'T even honor it. They charged the cool extra 25% they allot for on the bottom of their estimate sheet. I was actually scared they wouldn't release my dog without paying this new amount. Ugh it was horrible enough I didn't trust leaving my baby with these guys but they "had already started" and since it was one of the most basic, minor, uncomplicated surgeries I dealt with it.With all this nonsense about them caring about animal welfare, they didn't even offer my dog a cone! When I asked for one they said they didn't have one. Secondly my dog became ill from an over dose of medication. I understand their exorbitant prices because when you walk in you are paying for their nice furnishing and amenities but the treatment my little guy received during a minor surgery was cause for concern for me to not use them. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the Veterinarians at Southpoint. They have taken care of my animals for years. Recently my cat had a terrible bout with Bladder stones and required frequent and intensive care by Dr. Doyle. He guided me through some very tough times with my very sick cat but he believed in his method and stuck with me through it all. It even came to the point that it looked like my cat would need surgery to make an incision to make the opening larger for him to pee. But the morning of the surgery my prayers and all who were praying for my cat were answered with a 7:30 Am call by Dr. Doyle to me. He said " Flower has just peed a whole litter box of urine so I cannot say that I should go ahead with the surgery in light of his progress this morning." I will always be grateful to Dr. Doyle for he could have chosen to make money and ignore the situation at hand especially since he had taken so much time with me on phone calls at no cost to me. It would have been so easy to go ahead with the surgery anyway and not tell me he had peed, make the extra revenue and rid himself of the problem. But he did the right thing for my cat,,,not for himself. He earned my total trust that day. I will say that Flower is now totally healed with the right diet and care as instructed by Dr. Doyle. I have an older dog with arthritis issues, and they have been such wonderful resources...I feel like we are navigating my pets pain management journey together. It is not uncommon to get a call checking in to see how one of our pets are doing after an illness or injury. Due to our crazy work schedules, we have had to be flexible with what doctor is available on the date/time we need...they are all amazing, and keep each other updated. Each room has a computer in it where they can access any information they need for the visit. I cannot recommend this practice enough. They are part of our family.Read Less

I don't have extensive experience with various vets. Prior to SAH, I had only been to the one in Carrboro Plaza, but I like SAH much more. Details below. Here's what I liked: - The building looks cool!- My dog was a new patient and the whole process was EXTREMELY easy. I didn't have to do any paperwork whatsoever and they told me exactly what I needed to do/bring beforehand. (It wasn't this easy at CP)- They have a little board where they welcome the names of all the new patients which was really cute. - Check in was a breeze. Staff gave us attention immediately.- The entire staff was great with our little dog and I felt completely comfortable with him in their care- Dr. Doyle is great! The majority of my visit was spent with the vet himself, not a mere 5-10 minutes. He is so thorough in his explanations and really tries to help you understand what's going on. He also does not make you feel bad or judged in any way if you're not a perfect pet owner. I feel that the vets at CP did not spend as much time with me or explain things as well to me. I have left CP in a state of confusion before.- Prices are fair! About the same as CP. - It is so easy to get medications here. - They are accommodating. Another client had their appointment time wrong and, incidentally, came during the time of my appointment. Dr. Doyle squeezed them in anyway!I will definitely return to SAH for future vetinary needs! Had a bad - and sad - and VERY expensive - misdiagnosis experience with this vet. My cat was diagnosed by Dr. Lapham with a deadly almost always fatal disease. The only hope was $350 a month experimental meds that wouldn't cure, but would keep him alive. After doing research it didn't seem like my cat had this disease but the vet insisted - said he was 100% positive - and that if my cat wasn't treated immediately he'd die. I was so distraught I'd have done anything so I went along with all of it.In the ensuing months, no one ever called to check in, schedule another visit - nothing. When I called, I was told the same thing: keep the cat on the meds or he'll die. The vet talks so fast that you can't even get a word in - and I trusted that that amount of confidence translated as knowing what he was talking about. Well over $3000 later - and still no corresponding symptoms - I took my cat to another vet. It took a week of harassing - two calls from me - four requests from the new vet to even get Southpoint to transfer the lab results and other documentation. New vet does a new round of blood work and the result: no trace of anything - 100% healthy - no markers of any kind of the supposed deadly disease which once infected, never leaves a cat's system. Three months off the meds and my cat is still a happy, healthy dude, no illness detected of any sort. Read Less

I recently was looking to switch vet clinics, and a friend recommended Southpoint Animal Hospital.  After my first visit, I was so impressed that I felt compelled to write a review.  First off, the facility is in a very convenient location with easy parking.  It's also a beautiful building with coffee and tea in the waiting room and very clean overall.  The staff is friendly and courteous; and there is virtually no wait.Once taken to the exam room, they took some history and then asked to take our dog for bloodwork.  Our old clinic would make me hold our dog while they drew blood- so this was a definite upgrade for me!  Dr. Doyle took care of us, and he was absolutely fantastic.  He took his time and explained every part of the exam, and was very thorough.  Even better, he spent a lot of time on education and even demonstrated how to brush our dog's teeth.  We had never been shown a good technique for this, and I was amazed that she sat still for it!  Finally, after our visit, Dr. Doyle called (on a Saturday no less!) to let us know about our dog's bloodwork results.  He explained each lab and its significance.  I was so impressed.  I really wish I had come to this vet clinic sooner- what a great place with excellent service! Let me start by saying I found them via Angieslist and had my German Shepherd's puppy shots done there which went fine. About two months later my dog jumped and landed wrong and broke his rear outside toe. In the past I had been seen by two of the three vets there and they were average to above average, however, on 2/25/2013 I saw the third for the toe being broken. This vet tried to grab his foot with the obvious broken toe and when jumped she wanted to put a muzzle on him. Then a tech and the vet tried to wrestle him to submission to inspect his foot, which went very poorly. In the end the dog was sedated and a splint put on. The estimate was off by $150.00. The vet complained the dog had diarrhea while under sedation and again waking up in the kennel. The vet said he was wild and untrained. My dog will sit, stay, down and plays with kids at soccer games, however, he is a puppy and wil move around. The puppy had stress diarrhea from the break and a vet who did not know better than to add tenfold to the stress. Instructions leaving were to change the outside wrap due to diarrhea and that was it. I was supplied the take and one roll of stretch wrap. Direction was to change the outer layer, come back in three weeks for xray and splint to be romoved. I found out that xrays at 3 weeks would have been of no use, as the bone would likely have have solid bone tissue growth that can be seen on an xray. There are a host of other issues like leaving a message for me on the wrong number, using some other patients name when talking about my dog. I cannot understand how this vet got such great reviews other than maybe others just got vaccines there. On 3/2/2013 I had to take him to the emergency vet due to the poor dog had sores from the splint being put improperly and being retained by tape to his fur which he developed a severe reaction to. The emergency Vet said that had I not brought him in when I did it could have been much worse and could have been a lose of a foot. The emergency Vet could not believe that I was not instructed to change the whole splint bandage every 4 to 5 days. In addition, I was told that they do not use tape there for this very reason. Do be careful in selecting a vet there and if you must see another other vet than the one you select at the office you may want to consider going to an urgeant care vet. Tried talking to them but they seemed more interested in avoiding any implication that they messed up. I asked the emergency vet, who was great, for vet references to locate a new primary vet. Total cost of the ordeal was around $800 due to the complications resulting from the lack of follow-up care direction and poor splinting. My wish is no other dog has to suffer through this type of pain which could have and should have been avoided. Read Less

My two pets were both patients of Dr. Lapham when we lived in Durham. He and his staff always have provided excellent care to my dogs. Dr. Lapham is very competent in what he does and truly cares about the patients he sees. Dr. Lapham diagnosed a problem with one of my little one's kidneys. The facilities are very clean and the staff and doctors wash their hands prior to handling your pet. All the staff are caring and gentle with the pets and my pets were always at ease with them. Dr. Lapham has gone above and beyond in caring, he has made himself available to talk even when we moved to Boston. I consulted him about labs and diagnosis when I moved up here and he took more time to explain them to me than the vet that presented the results up here. I REALLY wish we still had access to this wonderful Animal hospital. We already miss Southpoint! Read Less

Read Less

Dr. Brian Doyle is AWESOME! After searching for over a year for a place for my sweet Oliver Flynn-Cole, I finally found it. Oliver became over ill over the weekend and the only appointment was with Dr. Doyle--I was at first a little hesitate, but my baby was so sick. They say everything happens for a reason--well I truly believe that. Without Oliver becoming so ill I would never have tried Dr. Doyle. He's been nothing short of a God Sent!

Doyle.

I moved to last summer with my family of two cats and one dog and couldn't be more pleased to have discovered Southpoint Animal Hospital. Dr. Farling and her staff provided courteous, professional service and went out of their way to answer my questions and address my concerns. Unlike with other veterinary practices, I never felt hurried or rushed in any way, nor were our wait times at all excessive. Their facility is top notch as well. I would recommend Southpoint Animal Hospital to anyone looking for excellent care for their four-legged loved ones. Read Less

Well, I finally found a ethical, and caring veterinary hospital. Southpoint Animal Hospital is one of a kind. My current vet was busy so I called Southpoint AH and they got me in the same day. My cat was vomiting and just wasnt feeling good. After the exam, I received an estimate for services because my cat needed to have fluids and stay in their hospital for 24 hrs. They called and gave me update.. which i loved ( my cat is like my child). When I picked up my cat.. the actual bill was $25.00 lower. I was very pleased with the care, and service from all of the Southpoint team members. I am switiching my pet records over to them. AWESOME!! Read Less

Read Less

Love the location, the staff are so friendly and what a calming atmosphere they have! Prices are lower than my previous vet office and they don't overvaccinate which is better for my pet.

Read Less

I've been taking my dogs to Dr. Lapham since before he opened this practice, but he's totally worth following. I've been through two new puppies with him, a cancer diagnosis in another dog, and eventually, euthanasia. He has been wonderful in every situation. Dr. Lapham is incredibly kind and compassionate, takes the time to explain things, and it's obvious he genuinely loves animals. I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else! Read Less

Southpoint is a great vet. I highly recommend them. Their prices on meds are a bit high so I recommend buying then at 1800 pet meds instead.
