We absolutely love Tyson Animal Hospital! We have an indoor/outdoor cat who loves to roam our neighborhood and occasionally comes home with scratches and bites. We've had to make several impromptu visits to patch her up and Tyon's has always made the effort to fit us into their busy schedule. Additionally, all of the staff are very friendly and the vets are super knowledgeable and just all around great pet people. In a stressful situation, they do a great job putting us at ease which is a huge relief when it comes to the safety of our animals. We trust them 110% and feel very confident in recommending them to others! Read Less

The staff is wonderful. Very welcoming. Helpful and patient. My husband and I dropped off our Camero baby for her surgery. They assured us our camero will be fine. I was thrilled to see at least 3 office cats lounging around. Oreo, the sweetest cat, must’ve sensed how worried and anxious I am for my camero. She sat with me, purred and comforted me for a while. Apart from this facility being completely run down, I would not trust this vets medical opinion nor would I trust her integrity. I had a terrible experience with Dr. Tyson and when I questioned her about the treatment she provided my cat she got extremely defensive and completely made up a story about my cat being unhealthy, aggressive, and difficult. All completely false statements.I have decided to take my pets elsewhere, hoping no one has to put down their beloved pet unexpectedly and then be met with a fabricated story line by this vet. I've gone here for nearly 10 years. They give my pets the best care. Dr Tyson and her staff really love the animals they work with. Lynn at the front desk is an absolute delight. Earlier this week, we said goodbye to our 15 year old pug. He had been seen a week prior by Dr. Luke for his old man checkup but soon started declining a couple of days later due to old age. I knew it was his time and called to have him seen. They were able to work us in knowing that he was declining with the possibility of having to say goodbye to him. The love, support, and compassion shown by the entire staff was amazing. The staff took excellent care of my fur baby a...nd me. The decision was not an easy one to make and I said goodbye to my little buddy. I was able to pick the pace as to which we proceeded and I was never rushed after the procedure. I picked up his ashes today and although she was busy, Dr. Luke took a couple of minutes to check in with me and see how we were doing. Dr. Tyson is a skilled and compassionate veterinarian. She's built a practice staffed with warm, caring, and efficient personnel. I've never been made to feel rushed when at an office visit and in turn always receive thorough explanations of diagnoses and treatment plans. Phone calls are returned on the same day, unless one has been advised otherwise. Fees are fair, and she's worked with me to provide the best care for my dog that I can afford. I'm so pleased with Dr. Tyson, that even though I've moved out of the area, I continue to return for my pet's care. Most impressively, Dr. Tyson remains current in her veterinary medical education, cutting-edge surgical techniques, and the latest advances in medical treatment. They have a small retail area stocked with foods for special diets, leashes and collars, and they dispense medications common in veterinary care. Kenneling is available. Office hours are intended to be accommodating, and the outgoing after-hours phone message includes information for an emergency clinic if necessary. This practice is housed in a very unassuming little building that was formerly a home. While it could be said it might benefit from some updating and renovation, it's worn by the years of traffic that comes with caring for many, many beloved pets. The reception area is decorated with photos of patients accompanied by notes from grateful pet owners. Parking is limited. Read Less

Took for a dog bite and Dr Lucas said that it might need a drainage but it that point didn't look to be sever!! Newsflash had to give my dog up cause his wounds were so infected and I had no idea they were that bad till a bad smell! Now I had to give my best friend and sweetest little soul up cause I couldn't pay 1500.00 to have let off!! Didn;t even know what I'm dealing with and how he was helping me through everything!!! I miss him and don't want to go on, gave my other dog to good home so now I can go home. Tried I so tried..I hope Dr. T really didn't put him down and kept her word I hate she did see him first.I'm so lonely and have cried a thousand tears. I can't say enough wonderful things about this vet. They are 100% dedicated to their clients and go above & beyond to provide amazing customer service. We have 3 dogs & moved to this area about 7 months ago. We originally tried a vet near our home & had a horrible experience. Then we found Tyson and I am forever grateful we did. One of our senior pets had a terrible cough so we took her in. They took X-rays and did tests but were unable to fully identify the cause so they sent us to a referral hospital which I'm so glad they did. Long story short it turns out our dog has cancer. Dr. Luke has been so supportive through this process. She calls to follow up regularly and goes above & beyond to help is with any questions or support we might need. Both vets here have provided amazing care in both routine and emergency situations for my cats and dog.  Dr. Tyson recently took the time to discuss treatment options over the phone with both my husband and I, so we each understood.  Whether it is accommodating me when I need to pick up prescription food 5 minutes before they close on a Friday, or answering all my questions and discuss behavior issues during each visit, they really go the extra mile.  I can highly recommend this place! I cannot say enough good things about this office. I brought my sweet 3 lb chihuahua in for a spay consultation and a check on a growth I noticed. It was close to closing and the staff stayed later to explain options and medications in detail and with care. Dr. Luke called me over the weekend to touch base w me about the status of my pup and when I returned the call today Lynn answered and was not only super friendly and warm, but was great at explaining the recovery and validating my concerns! Hard to issue a review based on criteria outside of the care, but felt it needs to be said. We have decided to stop using Tyson for one primary reason...the physical condition of the facility. Maybe at one time it was a charming, re-purposed home that is now a clinic, but it has fallen into such a sorry state of disrepair that we're concerned how it reflects an the attention being paid to things INSIDE the clinic.Overgrown grass, shrubs and weeds, peeling paint, rusted and disconnected gutters, just generally ugly and dilapidated for a animal medical facility. This place almost looks like an abandoned, post housing crash foreclosure home. It is truly well below the standard I would expect for any place, much less one that I am entrusting to care for my pets. The standing water alone is a mosquito haven.At some point you begin wondering whats happening to cause a practice to devolve into such a condition, and we no longer felt comfortable walking in the front door. I certainly wouldn't for one second go to a (human) doctor if their office looked like this, so..... Dr. Tyson...do what it takes to overhaul your facility and I suspect you'll see more business...we just can't give you ours anymore until conditions improve dramatically. Read Less

ABSOLUTE BEST Vet I have ever been to. I started with Dr. T and had to move to Mebane, when my dog developed allergies to almost everything living thing in NC. I took her to a vet in Mebane and only got nothing but the run around and expenses continued to increase. Knowing that Dr. T is a awesome vet, I contacted her office for help and they immediately got my dog in, assisted with financial constraints and my Dog is now a happy girl, with minimal flare ups. Dr. T got right down to the bottom of the issue and treated it as if Bella were her own dog. We LOVE Dr. Tyson and highly recommend her clinic. I love this practice and everyone in it. They have been taking care of my cats for the past four years and I won't take them anywhere else. Great experiences with each visit. Recently Simon,my dog, would not open his eye. They took him immediately and performed all the tests that would have been done on a human with a cornea injury(IMHO-I am a nurse). Tyson animal hospital is the best Vet in town.  I highly recommend Dr. Tyson, she is very knowledgeable and personable at the sametime.  My dog had to have emergency surgery and she gave me the best options and kept me informed while he was healing.  In addition she came in while the office was close to check in on him and update me.  This type of personal touch is not typical and so glad I have found Tyson animal hospital as my vet.  In addition to Dr. Tyson the staff there is very friendly.  The prices are also very reasonable so you will not need to take out a second mortgage for your vet bills. Our Charlie cat had an extremely upsetting experience with a vet near us, and now he must be gassed for a simple, routine procedure. Dr. Luke has been so gentle with him and has answered all our questions. The whole staff is professional and friendly. I've been taking my dog April here for the past could years now. They do an excellent job, are right around the corner from my house and one of the cheaper places you can board your fur baby while you're on vacation. They always get me in right away and don't gouge me with a bunch of silly fees. Highly recommended. Read Less

When moved to the area last year, I had to be out of town a lot, so I needed a good place to board my very nervous yorkie-poo. I actually picked Tyson Animal Hospital because it was convenient to drop him off on my way to the airport. It turned out to be the perfect choice. Both times we were encouraged to call with questions or concerns, we didn't have to because Dr. Luke called us everyday to update us on our rotty, and the ortho surgeon called us about our chi. Wow! I can't believe I've never reviewed my awesome vet, Dr. Donna (Tyson) Dishman! I have been bringing my two fur babies here since we moved to South Durham in 2008 and the entire crew at Tyson's have never failed to provide caring and affordable medical care. I came here initially on a recommendation and stayed because they are amazing. The tech staff is extremely friendly and helpful, even when they are busy (stressed) and I'm trying desperately to get my fat log of a dachshund to sit still on the scale and not chase the office kitty. They are also very sweet to my pups before/after they get shots and try to keep them calm. I like that they don't try to push services or medications on you. I've done routine exams/shots here as well as a dental cleaning for the weenie and just this week my mutt Casbah got a tick burrowed in that I couldn't get out. The staff got her right in, removed the tick, gave her some antibiotic, and a rabies shot she was due for and it was like $45 bucks. Not too bad. They do boarding here as well which I've never done, but I would not hesitate to leave my babies here. Read Less

Tyson Animal Hospital has been caring for my many pets for more than a decade. They've helped us through the good, the bad and the sad. I couldn't ask for a more understanding and kind group of people. My dog loves being boarded there. I ask her if she wants to go see Lynn and she responds with excited wags and heads for the car. I never feel that the decisions I make regarding my pets and their healthcare are being judged. I only receive fantastic support and guidance in making those sometimes tough decisions. I moved here from Coloardo and needed to find a vet for my wheaton terrier. After reading the reviews on yelp I decided to try out Tyson and I'm so happy that I did! The office and staff is friendly and its nice to see passion in the work place. We adopted two of my brother's cats and one had a weird psychological reaction that caused her to break out in blisters/scabs all over her head. The doctor walked us through everything and after around of antibiotics and steroids she was good as new! Super affordable and reliable, highly recommend! Read Less

We went to Dr. Tyson with our very old dog and she was fantastic. She explained everything multiple times to my boyfriend who wanted to be sure he understood the nature of all the medication our dog was receiving.When his time came, she and the staff were very compassionate about our withes while putting him to sleep and not adding to the emotional distress of losing our dearest friend of the last 16 years.When it comes time to add a new four legged member to the family again, this is where we will be taking him. He especially enjoyed the cats at the front desk. I really like how they gave me options. They didn't push anything on me. Simply the best.  We've been in the area now for almost 2 years and we have been taking our rowdy golden retriever to Dr. Dishman for a little over a year now.  She has been fantastic and her staff is top notch.  They know Ovie by name now and are excited to see him every time we drop him off.  We love that we can also leave Ovie with them to board if we have travel plans without Pet-friendly hotels (Hate non pet-friendly hotels btw).  He receives a lot of attention and is always happy when we return.Another exiting aspect of Tyson's location is that in November there will be a indoor pet pool opening up across the street called Lap it Up lapitup.biz so I'm  really excited for that as well! Dr. Dishman and the rest of the office are awesome.  My dog gets so scared at the vet, that just getting her back to the room is a challenge.  They are so patient with us.  Dr. Dishman will sit on the floor with us so I don't have to put her up on the table.  My dog was a rescue and had a few health issues, like heartworms and whipworms.  This has made me appreciate having a great vet even more.  They will talk to me about all of the options, my concerns and answer my list of 100 questions without making me feel silly.  Prices are very competitive and the service is excellent. We love Dr. Dishman.And as I write this review, Ovie is getting neutered.If you're thinking about this office, you will not be disappointed. They staff are very professional, they love your dog (or any other animal i'm sure) like it was their own. They are thorough with their work and great with following up. When Ovie was a puppy, he was having trouble with the diarears and food and all kinds of stuff. They called a few times to follow up to see if things improved and even offered some suggestions to help (pumpkin apparently is good for that kind of issue) and kept all of the talking notes on file.The prices are VERY reasonable, especially for the great service.We love this place, Ovie loves this place, you will love it. We brought our dog Ruby to Dr. Dishman for a torn ACL. A diagnosis and various treatment options were offered promptly, even though we had not been there before and had not had an appointment. Let me say first, my dogs are not a patient of Tyson's, but I write this review based on a scary Saturday with a friend's Dalmation. 32, the dog, had an emergency when they were closed, and his owner was working. We were called and asked to go to the hospital, because they were talking euthanasia, and no one wanted 32 to be alone. We got there, and knocked when the door was locked, and were immediately let in to see him. Long story short, hecwas doing just fine, and the staff was so kind and compasionate. If I ever have a need to switch vets, it's my first choice to go! Read Less

I am beyond delighted with the care and service I receive when I take my pets to Tyson's. Dr. Dishman is so genuine, caring and thorough. She is also very respectful about an individual's pet care beliefs (i.e. indoor/outdoor cats vs. indoor only). She and her staff have helped me through sad times as well as the joyous ones. I board my dog there and Molly wriggles with joy when we pull into the driveway--she loves Lynn more than she loves me ;-) An extra added bonus is that the fees for service at Tyson are very reasonable and I have not felt that any service suggested was to increase sales (and I've had that experience elsewhere). I highly recommend this hospital to anyone who wants to find a Vet that treats your animals as they deserve to be treated; with compassion and care! Dr. Dishman gladly opened her door to me and to my pooch, even though the clinic was totally booked on a super-busy Saturday! Dr. Dishman took her time and was extremely gentle with my dog, and was truly caring with how he and I felt. She treated him as gentle, as possible. The two assisting nurses were also extremely gentle and understanding towards my dog's feelings and genuinely sympathized with my worrisome nature, which made me feel better. The final bill was more than I expected after the conversation with the doctor on what needs to be done to help my dog. I don't mind paying extra $$, because the service was excellent, and it was truly worth it, however I just wished it was indicated to me how much it might cost, so I'm more aware of it and understand it better. I wasn't impressed with the receptionist as much as with the rest of the staff. Although polite and smiling, she wasn't that accommodating with the customer service. When I asked about the bill, she replied with a short response and impatient look. Maybe it wasn't her best day, maybe she was tired, so I'm going to ignore that. I started taking my dog to Dr. Dishman after trying other vets in the area. The other vets weren't bad, but my dog never seemed comfortable there. She loves going to Dr. Dishman however! The staff are always very friendly, and truly show that they care about your dog as an individual. They remember her quirks when she comes back. They'll help you get the occasional stubborn tick out. I've been taking my dog to Dr. Dishman since I got her as a sick puppy 1 year ago. She and her staff have been polite, professional and a joy to do business with. We recently got a dog from an animal shelter and I wasn't sure how she would behave at an animal hospital since I hadn't taken her to a vet before. She had been through a lot lately and I wanted to be sure she had a positive experience, so I tried Tyson Animal Hospital because a friend takes her dogs there and loves it. I noticed the landscaping was pretty & welcoming which I think even made my dog happy because she smelled flowers and plants on the way in rather than the typical ""vet clinic"" scent. Inside, it looks so warm and friendly and really feels like you are at home - very cheery and inviting. The people that work there were also very friendly and professional. I'm not sure who needed the friendly and welcoming atmosphere the most - my dog or me. :-) The veterinarian & the technicians were very thorough with my dog's exam & took the time to answer all my questions. Most medical places these days seem to want to rush you out of there, but I never got that impression from them. They really seem to have a passion for what they do & have sincere compassion for the animals. So Refreshing! I was touched by the way they treated my dog with such love & care during the exam, even petting her & talking to her. She had an ear infection & had to get her ears cleaned out; I was amazed at how they were able to do this so thoroughly, while making my dog feel as comfortable as possible. My dog was very relaxed the whole time, and she acted as though she was getting a spa treatment rather than medical care. When I got her at the shelter she was shaking & terrified so I thought she would be terrified at the vet hospital, but she never shook once there. They made us all feel right at home. My dog's ears now look clean & I can tell her ears feel better. The cleaning and the ear medicine Dr. Dishman prescribed has really helped. Greenwood vet has been a lifesaver to my kitties on more than one occasion. The staff is very caring and attentive. The office is always spotless. I've had a few 'crisis' appointments and have never had a problem getting in right away. My cats are my children and I wouldn't trust them to anyone else! While Dr. Paula, the best Vet in the WORLD, is not seeing patients regularly, I feel just as confident in the rest of her staff as if she were seeing my babies personally! Read Less
