Always professional and friendly staff. They are caring with animals. The staff who answer phones know how to triage and get things going. For example, knowing when to getting a stool sample or urine sample (appropriately) to help with diagnosis before appointment with the doctor is available. They close at 5 pm, but I received a call from the doctor around 7 pm to discuss treatment plan for my cat after lab results came back. I can't say enough about Dr. Igo and the staff at Lannon's Animal Hospital.  Dr. Igo has an amazing personality as well explains everything, I had a list of questions that I didn't need to ask as she addressed everything. Lannon's is the ONLY place I will take my pets. I love the professionalism of the staff. Lannon's Animal Hospital is the best! I will be forever grateful to them for taking such excellent compassionate care of my precious teacup Chihuahua, Tcup, when he was new to me and just 6 weeks old. Somehow he sustained a serious injury to his little head and the prognosis was bleak but the caring staff at Lannon's instructed me on home care and then kept him in their care during the daytime for three days. When I moved to NC I found Lannon's Vet on the computer. It is right down the street from where I live. Everyone is very pleasant and Dr. Darlene Lannon is extremely knowledgeable and took alot of time with me and my pet. We went over things to do as my dog is old and needs extra care. She even called me at home to see how my dog was doing. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I would definitely recommend them to everyone I know. Read Less

Small Paws said that my cat needed all his teeth removed. Lannon's said that was not the case and was able to save some of his teeth. They took all the time to explain everything to me and answered all my questions. They also worked with the ASPCA to help cover the cost of his dental work. They were very friendly and helpful. We can't say enough positive things about the veterinarians, technicians, and staff here. They do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and we always know our babies are in good hands. Over the last week we've been in here more often than we'd like, but the gals are always welcoming and we know our babies get loved on when they aren't feeling well. We can't thank you guys enough. I have been going to Lannon's since it opened in EC and very happy with Darlene and now departed, Denise Hugaboom. I have to say I put much trust in their decisions as I know they know way more than me, hence me going. One of the kindest acts done for me was in 1994 when my husband had left me and my daughter's beloved sheltie, Dollie had to be put down. I did not ask for this, but Brian Lannon came to my house after sweet Dollie was put down and he proceeded to dig a hole so we could bury her. Amazing hearts these people have! I have always had a very warm spot in my heart for these people....wow, never in this world expected that! Lannon's is the best!!! The couple of times there has been an emergency with my dog, they have taken her without delay. The staff are so polite and compassionate, and Dr. Lannon takes plenty of time to explain the diagnosis and what needs to be done to get your pet on the mend. Very unhappy with this place! I would not advise leaving your fur babies here to board! After advising the staff to leave my pet alone for a couple of hours after dropping her off, they attempted right away to put food in the cage. They called me 10 minutes after leaving telling me to come get her as she (a less than 10 lb. cat) "lunged" at the front of the cage when they tried to open it to put food in. The Lannons are terrible people. I brought my dog in for a uterine infection. Dr. Lannon called me and played on my emotion when my dog was ill. She never told me a price for the surgery. When I arrived to pick up my dog, Lannons informed me that the bill was $520.00. I then told them I only had 100 and could pay 100 monthly, until it was paid. The desk clerk said I needed to pay at least $330.00 to take my dog home, and if I could not come up with this money in ten days they would EUTHANIZE my dog. Then they called the police on me because I asked to speak to the owner after they told me it was out of their hands. I remained respectful and calm the entire time. When the police arrived he had no recourse because I had broken NO LAWS and committed no crime. Finally the owner had a glimpse of reason and decided to allow me to take my dog and pay 100 then and 100 monthly until it was paid off. After treating me like a piece of trash. A month later I call to see if I can bring my dog in for a $10.00 rabies vaccine (that is required by law) and make a $100 payment. They said because I owe them money they will not do anything else for my dog until paid in full. Thats right they accepted a payment plan, that I have held up my end, and they refuse a required by law rabies shot that I told them I would pay for along with my $100 payment for May 2015. They would not give my dog the shot and then rudely told me I should put the $10 towards paying my bill, like I am some kind of idiot for my dog getting sick and not having all he money right then. After clearly making an arrangement to pay monthly. I then asked for my dog's records, so I could get the shot elsewhere and they refused to let me have that too. Until paid in full. Even though I had again made an agreement and held up to it. These are terrible people. They care about money and not about people or animals. The owner who made the agreement with me (Mr. Lannon) did a risk assessment. He assessed that if he kept my dog he would also have to pay to kill it. And if he let me pay 100 and take my dog, they wouldn't have to pay and euthanize my dog and they would get at least the 100 I payed initially. I have never given this company any reason to treat me this way. They even said that if they euthanized my dog because I couldn't come up with money, that it was my fault. They said that right after talking about how they "care" about the well being of animals. They care more about your money. Avoid at all costs. Read Less

Just return from an appointment at Lannon's Animal Hospital. I am so very happy that I choose to go to this clinic. The receptionists are very kind and welcoming. Dr Lannon was amazing. I have been in many different states and gone to many different vets with my pets, but I must say that I have never had as good an experience with a vet as I did today with Dr Lannon. She took the time to talk to me about my new puppy. She explained everything she was doing and what she was checking for. She explained all the flea and tick prevention products and why and when they were needed. Never have I had a vet take as much time to listen to me and answer all my questions. I live in Va Beach and gladly make the trip to Elizabeth City so my cat can be seen by Dr. Wendy Boyce! She is absolutely the best veterinarian I have used in 30 years of taking different animals to different vets. She takes the time to to explain in layman's terms whats wrong with your animal. She answers every question you have and gives you options on treatments taking into consideration the animals quality of life and expenses. She is the first and only veterinarian who has taken time out of her day to call me herself and ask how the treatments are working. There is no doubt that she treats every animal as if they were her own and is not just going through the motions. The staff at Lannon's Hospital is equally as caring. Anytime I call they do their best to set an appointment as soon as possible and answer any questions I have. Lannon's Hospital and Dr. Boyce will absolutely be the only place I take my animals!Read Less

The people in this Animal Hospital saved my dog on more than one occasion, the first time they mended her ear after another dog attacked and tore it off, and the second time when she was bitten by a spider and had a large swelling under her chin. The third time when she had a drop in her blood platelet count following the drain hose surgery for the spider bite. My dog means the world to me, she is my service dog and her health is essential to my existence. I only rate this place 4 stars because of their harsh prices, and billing policies. The dockmaster at my marina that drove us there, was kind enough to cover her visit on his credit card ( as I was not allowed to drop her off without a deposit ) I am disabled and live on a fixed income with no savings, and my dogs emergencies always seem to happen near the end of pay cycle when i am under funded.Read Less

Hard to believe some of the negative reviews here. Having used this vet (Dr. Lannon) for 30 years, I can't imagine a better, or more caring vet. All three current vets are wonderful. The facility is nice and clean. If the staff are not friendly enough, say something to a vet when you see them. I've found most of them to be professional and courteous. I seriously doubt a surgery would happen without the vet personally consulting with the client. Most of the time they spend a generous amount of time with me and my pet. If they have a heavy workload, due to emergencies etc. that might change. I totally understand and appreciate that they would do the same for my pet. Let me add that my pets are like family and therefore my review might carry more weight than some of these disgruntled folks. Read Less

My 1st visit went smoothly. Liked the Dr. & staff. Didn't like my dog having her shots "in the back room" while I waited. Took my dog back about 2wks later because she had a reaction to one of the shots. Told we could not be seen as they were very busy. I was the only one in the waiting room. There are a few reason for three stars instead of five. First of all, I have to agree that some of the ladies at the front desk are not that friendly. They haven't made the mistake of being rude to me yet, but they act as if they are not happy working there. I also know someone personally who went there by my reference and they told me the girls were very rude to them. That made me feel horrible for referring them. I had to make a bunch of excuses on their behalf. Honestly, I should have called them up right then and spoke with the owner. Now, playing devil's advocate a little, maybe the doctors treat their staff badly. I try to think of things liike that and give people the benefit of the doubt AT FIRST. I have to say it is unnerving that one of the reviewers here did not meet one of the Vets ESPECIALLY since her dog had surgery. That is HORRIBLE business practice and I hope they make it up to that customer. I came to Lannon's because my husband used to take his hunting dogs to them years ago and suggested them. I was taking my two dogs to Pasquotank Animal Hospital which was a nightmare. Never ever ever go there. You talk about rude people! I could have literally jumped over the counter after a couple of those A Holes in there. Plus they did not seem like they liked animals whatsoever; that is why I switched to Lannon's. Now, compared to Pasquotank, they are a breath of fresh air. They take appointments which is what normal businesses do, thier facilities are clean and roomy. I saw Dr. Hugaboom when I first took my dogs there and she was really great, took her time with both dogs and with us and a plus - she seemed to love animals. There was a young guy as a Vet Tech or Vet Assistant, I don't recall his name, but he became one of my dog's instant buddies. He, too, seemed like he loved animals and was very kind and compassionate. Here's why I give them three stars so far. Today marks the second time I was told I would receive a phone call back and never heard back from their office. Granted, it is only just after 1:00 PM but I called when they opened this morning. I don't have all day to sit around and wonder if the dr wants to see my dog today for an issue he is having. The other time was this week when I called in a RX refill for my lab who has allergies and never received the call the meds were ready for pick up. I found out by calling for my other dog this morning that the meds were ready. That is not good customer service.They have a chance to redeem themselves. As a business owner, you should be watching online reviews of your company and making things right with people to improve your rating and most importantly to improve upon the reputation of your business. Word of mouth is a powerful thing and you must always assume your customer knows A LOT of people. Why would a business owner want to risk having their name tagged as a bad place? Especially when it comes to a Vet's office. Most people treat their animals like their own children and to some, those ARE their children. I think all Vet's offices need to think about that and start treating their 4-legged patients and their parents a lot better than I'm reading.I'll still continue to go there but I ALWAYS watch customer service and business practices and will make my decision to change the rating here once I see improvement in those areas.Overall, I would say I would recommend people to Dr. Lannon's Animal Hospital; however, I did that before and it didn't turn out so well. I have had the pleasure of going to Lannon's Animal Hospitial many times in the past few years. Not only is it a beautiful facility but the doctors and staff are amazing! From my very first visit to this office I could tell that this was the place for me. Not only did I feel comforitiable but so did my pets. I believe the staff go above an beyond their duties and I thank you for that! I have recommened Lannons Animal Hospitial to everybody! All my friends, family and co-workers also love this office! I have a hard time beleiving that you find the assistants here rude and that they don't provide excellent care for your pets. I have been going to Lannons since we got our first cat in 2007, since then we have added 4 more cats and 2 dogs and I have had nothing but stellar service and would not think of taking my pets any where else. I had to take one of my kitties there to be put to sleep he was so sick they took my right in and were very compassionate and I thank them dearly for all their sercives. I would highly recommend them to any one that wants quality care for their pets, yes they cost a little more than other vets but I feel what I get fom my money is well worth it. Read Less

As a former vet assistant, I was impressed by the initial look of the facilities. Unfortunately, my impression was downgraded over time. I have been to Lannon's three times now (once for surgery) and have yet to meet a veterinarian. Only techs and receptionists. The techs and receptionists were all very nice but I found it strange to NEVER meet the vet, to never be allowed in the back for vaccinations, weigh-ins, etc. My dog even had surgery and I never.met.the.vet. One of the receptionists was rude to me when I came to pick up my pet because he had been &quot;difficult&quot; with the staff. I am sorry, but animals are often unpredictable and it is the job of the staff to handle them in a humane fashion (which I believe they did....I hope so anyway) but the attitude from the receptionist about my &quot;difficult&quot; pet was enough to sour me on the whole experience (in addition to the NEVER MEETING THE VET.) I went there to save some money. I will be begging forgiveness from the more expensive vet in town. He is worth it. At least you actually meet him! Read Less
