Dr. Feiste along with her staff/team have gone above and beyond for our yorkie mix, Brody. We appreciate all that they have done and are continuing to do in our fur baby's treatment. We were referred to this facility by our local vet. We are so thankful both offices are working together in aiding Brody's full recovery. Brody has been dealing with bladder stones. He has shown immediate signs of improvement (which has been an answer to prayers) but is not out of the woods yet. We are still praying he can make a full recovery without any further issues in the future. So grateful for Dr. Feiste and her team as well as our local vet, Dr. Wheeler and her group for taking such good care of our Brody. The Dixons Read Less

I would only recommend this place for last resorts. If it really is an emergency, its after hours and your pet cant wait to see their regular vet then and only then should you go. My dog got a 2in cut on her head and was bleeding really badly. The front desk assistant was no where to be found when my husband and I rushed her inside. After yelling for help in the lobby did the clerk come and tell me to fill a clipboard out and wait.. 15min later she finally came back to collect the board to inprocess my dog. We wait in the examine room for literally an hour and a half before I was too frustrated at went back to the front desk and reminded them my dog was literally bleeding out from an open head wound. About 15min later the doctor came to see my dog, she gave her staples and sent us on our way. The price was pretty expensive as well. Like I said only go here if its literally an emergency. But I would also look around for other establishments for alternatives. Read Less

money over well-being. my visit here cost my kittens life. will never be visiting again. i had asked if there was a payment plan to a vet behind the counter and she replied no, that everything had to be paid upfront, so reading some of these reviews has me confused as to why it was offered to some people but not me. i had found a kitten around four in the morning, clearly she was not well. obviously i couldn’t bring her to my regular vet, but had no choice since she wasn’t breathing right, etc. the kitten had what they told me was an upper respiratory infection and swollen eyelids. i told them i would do anything just to save her. we waited two hours, and then she said she’s good to go, and told us to let her see a vet once the respiratory infection cleared (in about a week). i had planned on going to a vet sooner, but used all of my money because i had to pay for her meds/bills upfront. four days later, she passed away in my arms, i was an emotional wreck, and more so confused. i asked a vet friend of mine soon after if there was any chance of her survival, and she said it was slim to none since she had been in the wild and had the infections for so long, and said she was confused as to why i was never told that in the first place and gave us a false sense of HOPE (what we named her). im very upset at this place, and how everything was handled. they had no intention on saving this poor, blind animal, just making us pay a ridiculous amount of money and getting us out as soon as they could. I am so grateful that this place exists!  My Greyhound had a slightly rough day but took a turn for the worse late Sunday night.  At this point, he wasn't eating and refused to get up for his bedtime snack.  While the vet wasn't able to figure out what exactly was wrong with him (it would take my own vets and I another two weeks and a hospitalization at his regular vet), she was able to put my mind at ease that his Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever had NOT returned, he was NOT dehydrated, and his blood, urine and fecal tests were all within normal specs.  By the time I called my own vet the next morning at 8:15am, they already had the reports and test results from here!  No, this place isn't cheap but it's also not the most expensive I've visited.  It is for emergency and think about how much you will spend in a human ER!  One item I would like to point out is their triage system.  I knew my dog wasn't critical so I was okay knowing I'd have to wait.  A snake-bitten dog came in after us and was immediately taken in as it was obviously in serious distress.  Then, an older couple came in with a small white dog absolutely covered in bright red blood. Within 30 seconds, a vet tech was in the lobby taking the dog to the back (turned out to be a partially broken nail but with massive amounts of blood on him and the white blanket).  I applaud this place for putting the needs of the individual animal first and for their repeated apologies that I had to wait. I hope and pray that I don't need to return here but I'm grateful to know it exists and is a great clinic for ER vet visits. Read Less

Our dog cut his shoulder open and required staples to close the laceration up. This was the first time we’ve ever needed to see an emergency vet and were unsure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised that we were seen immediately, the price was extremely reasonable, and the staff was very kind and patient. Our dog is usually extremely anxious when being handled by strangers and we appreciated how understanding and patient the staff was when dealing with a difficult dog, and their effort to make him (and us) feel at ease. I only gave one star because they won't allow me to put a review if I don't give a star. I took my fur baby here last night because he was in pain and I didn't know why. I waited for 10 minutes for them to put him in the system, and talked among themselves, as my dog yelled in pain. I was so frustrated ready to take my baby home. They told me they were unsure and would need to do blood work and xrays which will be $318. That did not cover if something was wrong, it would be more. I said no and told them I will take him to his Dr in the morning. The total lack of concern and nonchalant attitude of the staff really bothered me. I will never, ever go to this place again. The time came for me to end my dog's suffering. He had been diagnosed with cancer just one month before. He was 12 and because of my experience with chemo with my previous dog, I made a decision not to do chemo. His condition went from bad to worse over the weekend. I knew one more day would have been unbearable for both he and I. I have a vet. I did not want to use a stranger, not a doctor that didn't know my dog. But what was my choice on a Sunday? And after reading the previous reviews, I really did not think I was going to take him to this vet. I do not regret the decision that I made and in fact I am very pleased with my experience with Animal Urgent Care. It was peaceful in the office, the office was clean, the staff were kind, they were considerate and they were compassionate to my family. He was cremated through a private company, Eastern Carolina Pet Cremations. I believe they treated him with care. The company created a paw print keepsake, never knew that was included. That was a very touching and thoughtful act. His urn is beautiful. A personal card was included with his remains to assure me that they were careful with him. Thank you for all that each of you did for me and my family that day. Read Less

If you know what’s good for you just keep driving before you turn in that parking lot. I took my dog there because he was peeing blood and vomiting. I was told that he had kidney stones and was so bad off that he would die if he did not get surgery so they begged me to put him down or get surgery which was over $2000 and it wasn’t guaranteed. If you noticed I said “begged” I have never been begged to put my dog to sleep. My dog was in pretty bad shape that night I said NO and paid the bill which was for nothing and left. I took him to his regular vet that Monday and what would you know my dog is nowhere near in the condition that they said of needing to be put down and due for surgery tomorrow morning and it definitely was not that cost. Only thing I can say is look at other options, go to Vass before going here or if your dog can hold off until you can get to your regular vet please do it. I was almost brainwashed into doing something I would of regretted doing by someone who is licensed and you would think that they can be trusted but for some odd strange reason they just want bodies she begged like it was an obsession. I will be working on getting this place blacklisted. Read Less

While traveling to Florida my dog was getting ill in North Carolina so I found this hospital by using Google. They told me to bring him right over. At 11:30pm, very dark out and in a strange place, my dog and I made it to this facility. They put my baby in oxygen right away, administered medicines and took x-rays. He was kept the night and we picked him up the next morning. Since I was heading to Florida I couldn't leave my dog there so we left without any concrete answers but the doctors were very nice as was the support staff. They at least made me feel comforted and they treated my dog with care. I would recommend this facility. They were very compassionate and in a situation that just got worse that's all we needed at the time. There fees were very reasonable too. Read Less

A month ago our miniature wiener dog was attacked by two pitbulls while we were on a walk in a friends neighborhood. We rushed him to this animal hospital and they promptly gave him pain medicine and conducted the X-rays and necessary tests. Our dog was in such bad condition that we knew he would not be able to make a recovery. We had to put our dog down. We chose to get him cremated and this hospital was compassionate from the very beginning. They explained the extent of his injuries and kept our puppy comfortable to allow me the time to stay with him and wait for my wife to make the 6 hour drive to stay goodbye. The doctors and nurses were helpful and kind, but not overbearing. After Dougie passed, they took care of his remains and cremated him. The service was prompt, and he was returned to us in a lovely wood box with a letter and a clay circle which they put his footprint on before cremation. The tender way they handled our dog was more than we could have asked for. They also sent us a letter in the mail this week offering condolences (a month later)I would recommend this hospital to any animal mommy/daddy within an hour of its location. I am so grateful for everything they did for our boy. Read Less

To be honest i think the little guys wound hurt me more than it hurt him. I didnt feel any judgement, they were very understanding and were great at their job. Ok so this place is terrible do NOT take your pet here!! So me and my family went into this place at 1:30 in the morning for my cat that was really sick. It was almost a 2hr wait to just see what was wrong with him and they told us that it was a accidental drug overdose. So they told us that they would keep him there and would put him on fluid all morning long or until we got him in the morning. When we went and got him they said that he was doing A lot better. We where on the way to are vent (because the urgent care close at 8;00 in the morning) and it is a 45 min drive for the urgent care to are vent. Are cat was not even in the car with us for 15 min and he flate line in the car when he finally came back and was breathing we were already at the vet. I was running inside the vet with my cat and the vet took him straight back. When are vet came and talk to us she said that it had to do with his birth defect because he had pink ears A pink nose and Pink Paws and they were supposed to be all brown so are vet told use that his Red blood cells in platelet counts were in the 18% and for a cat they are supposed to be in the high 20s. So she asked use to go home and get are other cat that was his bother and that he would be his blood donor. It all went by successfully but when we got to the urgent care again because our vet was closed for the weekend his temp went from 97.5 to 92.5 and 97.5 is low for a cat. So eventually in half an hour later the vet on call now this was a different vet then we had saw at 1:30 in the morning said that he had something wrong with his liver and it was like a corrosives of the liver . And that it was part of his birth defect they asked us if we wanted to do exploratory surgery on him but we didn't and the only way that we could've saved him was traveling up to Raleigh and and getting a ultrasound done of his stomach which him would not have made it up there so the only other choice was exploratory surgery or putting him down we ended putting him down and if this would've been caught sooner he would've been saved. At that time the vet ask us if we want to do an autopsy on him we said yes and when she said that she opened him up his liver was shredded in pieces. The last doctor we saw at the animal hospital was the greatest vet ever when we did have to put down are cat she was the one there that Comfort my mom and family. The people on call at that time or very very nice but that's the only thing that was nice about that place so if I was you I would not take my pet here ever!!!!! Read Less

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. I went in on a Saturday I noticed my dog was not eating. She had diarrhea and was vomiting. So we took her in. We filled out the paperwork. Then after waiting an hour. They took us back. They had told us that they were going to run blood test on her. So then the vet comes back telling us that she ran the blood test multiple times to make sure the blood test was right. She said that my dogs body was destroying her own red blood cells. That she had cancer. And that she would not survive until morning. I was a mess crying because my baby was sick and I thought she was going to die. I took her home. And just let her sleep on the couch with me if she did pass away during the night. So the next day comes around. And I decide I'm not going to give up on my dog. So I make an appointment at my vet clinic. They take her in that same day. They tell me that they had heard bad things of the urgent care vet clinic in Fayetteville. And they told me that my dog did not look ready to give up just yet. They sent my pet home with a few medications at my vet. They ran blood test. And now she's doing better. It turns out she just had autoimmune were her system destroys the red blood cells. She will continue to to take her pills life long. But now she is back to being herself again very happy and playful. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. It seems that the day I received bad news on my dog. Everyone in the urgent care vet was receiving bad news as well. I saw multiple people in their cars crying and even in the waiting room a few people crying there. Please prevent yourself a heartache.Read Less

My chihuahua was cold, stiff, barely breathing. Vet on duty Dr Hudson. very negative! Said he was breathing & blood work was "normal" but sugar was low & brain swelling. Temp was low, said its to late, he was gone! I begged her to try! One hr later, shift change, Dr. Jenson took over. She spoke to the first Dr. could put him on oxygen & meds overnight for brain swelling, but wouldn't wake up. I begged her to try!!I called every hr & was told stable with breathing & temp, not waking up but pupils were responding. Morning came, breathing but, pupils were no longer dilating, non-responsive and brain dead, they said. Needed to euthanize. I'm bringing him to NC State. Dr Hudson who was now back on duty, said should be moved on oxygen, but she wouldn't provide "no point, he was in the grave". A fire fighter had sympathy, gave us oxygen to transport. Arrived to get him, again told non-responsive, brain dead, euthanize. They opened the door & his eyes were open!! I leaned to him & he licked my nose! NON-RESPONSIVE & BRAIN DEAD! NC State vets were waiting on standby, i called (no assistance by this office). Dr on duty at NC took one look at blood work & said not normal, not brain dead or non-responsive. Already an idea of 4 things it could be & began testing, very optimistic! He was sent to ICU internal medicine. Diagnosis, Snickers has Addison Disease. His adrenal glands don't produce steroid & electrolytes to control sugar & proteins. Simple fix.. we give him meds daily. They said any vet should have recognized signs, common in small dogs. Immediately responded to meds & is now home! But, because of failure to treat promptly & lack of care from first 2 vets, wanting to euthanize. He has damage in optical nerves & blind. Office manager of Urgent Care called with many apologizes & refunded their bill. She offered to submit claim for $4000 at NC State to the malpractice ins. We take our dog to the dog park all the time. This last Sunday, we came home after the dog park and noticed a bit of blood on our pups armpit area. He was a bit too bouncy and wouldn't hold still for us to look at it, so we sedated him with pills we had already from our vet (we have to sedate him when we do his nails). After they kicked in, he was sluggish enough for us to look at it. He had three cuts, the middle one was pretty deep and about 1cm long. I'm a nurse and knew it needed to be closed with stitches to prevent infection, and it just couldn't wait til Monday morning. Our vet's answering machine suggested Animal Urgent Care. We got to Animal Urgent Care, waited about 5 minutes in the lobby, and then got into an exam room. The secretary and tech were amazing with our squiggle puppy. We told them about the cut and sedation and his tendency not to hold still. I suggested a muzzle (he doesn't bite but does move hands away with his mouth when being examined) and the tech got one for me right away. They took him in back to examen him and the plan was to try not to sedate him since it cost more and he already had sedation. I was doubtful they would be able to do what they needed without sedating since he never sits still. Less than 5 minutes later, she brought my precious puppy back, site shaved, and two staples placed to close the cut! I was in AWE! She said he did great once they covered his eyes with a towel. A TOWEL! We've been to our vet several times and he's always been anxious and squiggly and they never once tried a towel! Then the vet came to talk to us about his injury and aftercare. The bill was very reasonable too. $70 for the emergency visit, $30 for hair removal, $25 for doggy pain meds, and $50 for antibiotics. No charge for the staples! I also saw they accept Care Credit, a credit card specific for human and pet medical expenses. I already have one, but I bet anyone who doesn't could apply if they didn't have the money right away, since it is an unexpected expense. Overall, I thought the clinic was very professional and went above and beyond with our 1.5 year old GSD mix. I'm still in awe how amazing they handled my squiggly bouncy anxious dog when my regular vet never did half as good!! Read Less

Worst place ever. It's better to call your local vet or if your local vet recommends this place after-hours, find another after-hours vet. We went here and the front office was empty. We waited for a worker to come to the front and after a few minutes, the girl comes up texting on her phone and sits at the computer still texting. I was filling out the paperwork that lay on the counter because I thought they would come out and ask us to do that. As I stood there, I could see over her shoulder as she typed on her Samsung phone. She went to Instagram too. So, while my husband stood in front of her at the desk unacknowledged, I stood on the other side of the desk as if I was invisible. After a few minutes he got her attention by tapping on the window and she said "just a minute" and kept texting with one hand as she opened some portal on the computer. Then another worker came from the back with two huge boxes of donuts, she was very happy and laughing with someone else in the back. It sounded like a party. Again, no one tried to check us in or ask what we were there for. We called another vet and had him come into his office to help our dog. Even though my dog passed a few days later, I still didn't mind paying the vet more to come in during off-hours. This place is supposed to be an urgent care but no one acted as if anything was urgent. These people acted as if they didn't care and we were interrupting whatever celebration they were having in the back. They need to know that without people like myself, your clinic will cease to exist. We pay you. If the workers do not want their jobs they should maybe go work somewhere else. This job isn't for people who don't care. Nobody would bring their animal to this place if they didn't care so the workers should care too. This place is horrible and I will make it my mission to tell everyone to stay away from this place. Worst place ever!!!!!!!! Shame on you! I'll start with posting this same post to the military social media pages. Read Less

After a few hundreds of $, she said he was going to be ok, just to follow a strict diet for a few days and to give him the medication she prescribed. Well, My baby passed a few hours later during that same night. HEARTBREAKING!!! Great service. I have brought My dog in twice and called for advice once. The first time he was sick and I was told the prices upfront with the opportunity to decline any test. They gave My pup a shot and some meds and he was good to go after observation. Second time was a physical problem, which they helped Me with at no cost. Thirdly, I called today for some advice and the lady was nice enough to offer some tips and things to watch for before deciding to bring My dog in or wait until My regular vet opens. I have always had a pleasant experience with this vet. Please do not write them off due to being flooded by negative reviews from one experience. Yes they want payment for services rendered and do not have a payment plan within their business but they do offer a credit card which can be used by many vets to cover the cost. Read Less

The front desk staff certainly need training in service delivery. They saw us walk in and simply continued to carry on with their conversation ignoring our presence. After 5 minutes, one of the females turned to acknowledge my presence and then simply walked away without informing us of the next steps involved for our collection of our pet. Their medical services are basic and approaching decent standards, but extremely expensive and make the most of any concerns you may have. In an emergency you have very few options and this place certainly makes the most of that vulnerability.  Use in emergency avoid under any normal circumstances. Read Less

First let start by saying I'm extremely grateful to have this facility available for my pets, but...there front desk customer service could use work. I have visited this clinic a half dozen times over the past few years and each time I've always had to force someone to even acknowledge I'm there needing assistance. On my most recent visit the lady at the desk gave me the forms to fill out after nearly ten minutes of me standing at the window (and being the only one in the waiting room to boot) then walk into the back not to return for close to 45 minutes later. The entire time I heard her and two other individuals chatting away in the back. Now obviously I do not know for sure what was happening back there but as far as I could tell I was the only person with a pet at the place because the parking lot was empty. Now on a positive note once I got back to a room the staff was prompt, attentive, professional, and very kind. The quality of care is excellent. Which is why I do try to overlook the upfront customer service problems.I do recommend this facility to all pet owners with the need for emergency care. Read Less

Sign in, you have me right down my social, why can't you do everything you can to save my pet not discuss funds. I was woken up by a baby kitten 2:53 in the morning shocked hurting crying that the baby was in pain. I expected the vet to do everything they could then charge me the large amounts you charge. I expect hope when I come to an emergency room. I'm not in the right state of mind that early in the morning. I regret putting my baby kitten down because you weren't sure what was wrong with him or wanted to discuss funds before attempting to rescue him. I'm so hurt right now with the decision I made. I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. That they would be more kind and sensitive to how someone may be feeling or how they are emergency vets you have my social for a reason don't discuss funds with me telling me my kitten is probably dead while you are talking to me instead of saving him. Had a great experience at Animal Urgent Care. I took my Dobie on a Sunday morning due to having an allergic reaction to something and developing hives all over her body. We tried Benadryl, which helped, but did not eliminate the issue. I debated on waiting until Monday to take her to her normal vet, which I LOVE, due to the reviews posted, but became concerned that her condition may get worse and would possibly affect her organs, so I thought it was best to get her checked out. From the moment I arrived, the receptionist, the 2 technicians, and the doctor were GREAT, friendly, and helpful. Trust me, I have had a number of dogs over the years and have experienced sub-standard service. That was not the case with Animal Urgent Care. The price was reasonable for an emergency weekend visit. I frst went to Animal Urgent Care several years ago and then again about 5 years ago. Neither experience was pleasant and was very costly. I can't go into detail becaue you can write only so many words. The real INJUSTICE is that THEY ARE THE ONLY AFTER HOUR URGENT CARE IN FAYETTEVILLE!!!! Then in January of this year my poor little chihuahua, Rocky, was attacked by a pack of wild stray dogs. I have to make this short also because of limit of words. We rushed him to Animal Urgent Care. The vet on duty took x-rays and found that Rocky's abdomen had been punctured. They did not do the surgey until 6 hrs later. THIS IS THE WORST PART!!!!! I had to pick him up at 8:00 am monday morning and transport him to his regular vet and THEN I had to pick him up at 6:00 pm when the regular vet closed and transport him to Animal Urgent Care. This went on every morning and evening until Wednesday night when he died at Animal Urgent Care. The place was chaos. There was a lost of seriously ill and injured animals. They called me to a room about 1 hr later and told me that Rocky had crashed and did I want them to take ""extraordinary measures?"" Yes, Yes, Yes. I waited and waited and prayed and prayed. Rocky was such a sweet adorable little guy and he had been my best friend for 6 years. He had a lot of living left. A tech (not the vet) told me they ""couldn't save Rocky."" There is more horror that I have to leave out but most important I want all to know is: Rocky's little body was so tortured. As I write this I am crying again. I did research on Rocky's type of injury and found out that only an experienced animal surgeon should even try that kind of surgery and that it was almost always fatal. We had charged over $3,000 on our credit card trying to do everything to save his life. The worst part is how much my sweet little boy suffered before died. It is not only Animal Urgent Care to blame. It is all the V ets in Cumberland County. I tried to find 1 vet that kept sick and injured animals over night. They all only board healthy animals that don't need medical supervision. Look in the yellow pages and you will find that all the Vets' offices in Fayetteville list Animal Urgent Care as the emergeny/after-hour number to call. I also researched the vets that work at Animal Urgent Care. I found out that they are all fresh out of college and have very little experience. They are all low-man on the totem pole. Also, they don't even have an experienced vet oncall for emergencies they are unable to care for. I learned that Rocky had only a 15% chance of survival even if he had been treated by the best vet in Fayetteville. I loved him so much! Can you imagine having open heart surgery or some other major surgery at Cape Fear Valley Hospital and every morning and evening a family member would have to come and pick you up and transport you to a different location? I am so outraged. It took me 8 months to finally decide to say and do something about this travesty, I am first going to find another Urgent Care even if it's miles away and I'm also going to try and find a vet in another county. I blame them all for Rocky's death. If you have had a similar experience, please write me as ""Loves Animals"" at P.O. Box 64848, Fayetteville, NC 28306. They won't let me publish my email address. I intend to contine research, notify all the animal protection societys, and present the information to the Fayetteville Observer. This has to stop. Animal Urgent Care's first priority is to get as much money as they can. Maybe the vets in Cumberland County don't know what their practices are but trust me they will soon! Read Less

We had a cat that was bitten by a stray dog on a weekend. She had a minor puncture wound on her abdomen that we wanted to get looked at. We took her to Animal Urgent Care of Fayetteville because we thought it was the only option. We were made to wait over two hours (which for the last 30 minutes we were the only people in the waiting room) before we were even seen. While waiting a puppy was brought in that needed to be seen instantly but the people were made to wait while the receptionist tried to run their credit card before they were seen (standard practices a AUC). The people were made to wait over 45 minutes in which time the puppy passed away in its owners arms. The receptionist then came out from behind her window and immediately began talking other payment options while the owner was sobbing. When our cat was finally seen the vet spent less than two minutes looking at her and said she needed to do exploratory surgery to see if any damage was done on the inside. We questioned this because the wound did not seem to be that deep but trusted her judgement as a vet. We picked her up two days later and took her home. We were not given any medication for her or any instructions for care. We were shocked to see her abdomen which had no bandaging. It looked like a child had done the surgery and stitched the wound closed. Needless to say part of the stitching came out within a few hours and we could see inside of her abdomen. Luckily we were able to take her to her normal vet and he was forced to do another surgery to fix the mess. Afterwards, he told us that AUC had done more damage than good. We recommend driving the extra hour to take your animal to one of the other options for emergency vets. Animal Urgent Care of Fayetteville shows no compassion towards animals and only cares about getting paid for the shoddy services that they provide. Read Less

One day my Rottweiler tried to alert me of a hurt animal just outside my backyard fence. I ignored her at first because I saw it was a cat sitting in the dark distance and figured my dog just wanted to chase it. The cat appeared unafraid and I assumed she was being a tease for my dog. My dog would not stop trying to get my attention and would just stay right there next to the fence where the cat was and began to wimper. I did not see the cat anymore, so I figured the cat left, but why was my dog still trying to get my attention and crying? Finally, I walked out there and got closer. I discovered that that the cat was still in the same position, but now laying down. It appeared to have been mauled, maybe by another dog. It was still breathing. I quickly got together what I could to take the cat to the Animal Urgent Care I had passed by so many times before. By the time I got there, the cat had stopped breathing. I took the cat out of the car, but noticed there were children waiting inside the building. I laid the cat down and walked in. I whispered to the woman at the desk about the cat. She came with me outside to my car and verified that the cat had passed. She picked the cat up and to my surprise cradled the cat as if it were still alive. She asked me, does it look like I am holding her in a blanket (and still alive)? I said yes. She didn't want the kids inside to see the dead cat that way. We walked back in and the kids did not know the difference. They assumed the cat was just sick. When the woman returned, she told me not to worry, they do not charge for situations like this and thanked me for trying. This really left an impression on me how humane and thoughtful they were. I only hold guilt now that I had not responded sooner when my dog was trying to warn me. Read Less

The weekend before Christmas, my dog seemed dizzy, stopped breathing &went stiff as a board. My husband & I do not have kids, so this is our one & only baby. Our regular vet was not open, so we rushed her to AUC for the 1st time. On the way there she began to breathe faintly, but was not responsive at all. As she lay motionless in my arms, she lost function of her bowels. As we arrived we were greeted as like it was a regular appt. We sat in the lobby with her in our arms for 30 mins before being called back. A ""tech"" came in approx 20 mins later & advised they needed to run a series of tests & keep her over night but had no clue of what the prob was. The lady was very nice at first. She had an estimate (included 2 nights stay with 24 hour care ""just in case she had to stay more than 1 night."") in hand, told us the cost & insisted we pay in full. We could not pay the amt she was asking in full that day, so I asked for a pmt plan, or to pay half today & the other 1/2 Friday when we got paid. I told her I could show them our stubs, or leave a post dated check. She was very rude & quickly told us no. She never left the room to ask anyone else if this could be an option. She bluntly told us no & said we needed to go ahead & pay for the visit. I told her our dog needed to be treated & she left the room. 20 minutes later she came back with another estimate in hand & told me they could only give her charcoal ""just in case she had eaten something."" I insisted my dog receive sufficient treatment &asked about the pet credit info on the wall, that she failed to mention. I told her I could pay 1/2 in cash, and the other 1/2 on the card. She told me she would get us an app, but we probably would not be approved. No, I was not approved for the card. I had absolutely no credit. We were given the option of charcoal & a hope for the best. The lady told us we had to leave the room & ushered us to the lobby. We politely asked the lady at the front desk to speak with someone that has the authority to approve a pmt plan & pleaded for proper treatment. She told us there was no one we could speak to, absolutely no exceptions, & we should not have an animal if we cannot take care of it. She said to pay $380 right away or no charcoal. She said they would not do it until funds were in hand. Meanwhile, I already had my debit card out. As we sat in the lobby waiting on our ""baby"", several things happened. 1at, a man rushed in with his puppy that had been ran over. She was bleeding everywhere. He cried & begged them to take her back, but the said take a seat. She died in his arms. 2nd, a man came in with a larger dog that was bleeding from a detached ear all over the floor. No bandage or gauze were even offered. He was still sitting there when we left. 3rd, a lady & her daughter with a smaller dog. She had a very bad infection where she was taken there for a procedure the prev week. When our dog was brought out to us about 45 mins later, she was cover in charcoal. It was splashed all over her & it was dripping. They did not even wipe her off. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone AT ALL. If you are in this field you need to be an animal lover. You need to understand the bond between a normal human & their pet. You also need to understand that unexpected events occur in peoples lives every day. We do not always have extra funds on hand for emergencies, but that does not mean we are unfit/bad people. It is not professional to treat people like they are scum. If you don't like your job, then find another . My experience may not be a reflection of the doctors, but we never even saw a doctor to begin with. I would drive my dog hours away before I took her back to AUC of Fayetteville. Read Less

As this is the only Emergency Vet located in the Fayetteville/Lumberton area there are not a lot of options when it comes down to chosing a place to treat our animals in the event of an emergency. Both times I have had no choice but to use their services I have been highly disappointed with just about everything! In one instance I thought my dog had a UTI because he was urinating a lot. So I took him in filled out the intake form, which I am fairly sure is just to collect funds and not to actually read the animals issue or history! I listed that he was on prednisone due to an allergic reaction earlier in the week. No one read this to include the doctor. He went through several tests and x-rays and was about to be put on Rimadyl. Luckily I asked the doctor if he could take that while on Prednisone. His jaw basically dropped, b/c evidently these two drugs together can cause problems according to them like stomach ulcers. So rather than reading their own forms they almost caused my dog more harm. FYI Prednisone does casue excessive drinking eating and urinating. Try to educate yourself on everything possible before using this facility! They do not pay attention to detail! Read Less

Read Less

This was the first time we’ve ever needed to see an emergency vet and were unsure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised that we were seen immediately, the price was extremely reasonable, and the staff was very kind and patient.

While traveling to Florida my dog was getting ill in North Carolina so I found this hospital by using Google. They told me to bring him right over. He was kept the night and we picked him up the next morning. Since I was heading to Florida I couldn't leave my dog there so we left without any concrete answers but the doctors were very nice as was the support staff. Read Less

Read Less

Got home from work to find my dog pooping blood, an hour later I was at this vet, Dr CAROL WATKINS took a look at my baby, ran a few test, and said it was not life threatening, he only had an inflamed colon.

Read Less
