I've had problems with my cat for a few years now. She has a large issue with her immune system- she's allergic to fleas and it makes her skin break out to the point of large, gross sores. She also has a horrible sore on her lip that she has received several cortisone shots for, but it has not fixed the issue. Dr. Gill recommended a new drug that is safer for her, and it has changed her completely. She's a whole new cat! I am very grateful for her recovering, but the one star I took away is for the amount of upselling I felt when I came in. He suggested I do a number of tests to determine her issue, which I understand is the quickest and most thorough way to find it out, but would've given me about $1k vet bill, which I verbally told him I couldn't afford, repeatedly. I felt like it was being pushed pretty hard on me, but he reluctantly let me try the new medicine. It put me in an uncomfortable position where I felt like I wasn't being a dutiful caretaker of my cat because I wasn't ready to drop a ton of money on a bunch of tests to figure out the issue with my cat. I had to be persistent in saying no, and I'm glad I did because it would've been money down the drain- we discovered the long lasting cure, and I'm very grateful for that. Dr. Moore & staff took excellent care of my dog. She had cancer & is gone now, but I know Dr. Moore’s excellent care gave her a little more quality time with me. His office staff (especially Shelley) was always amazing at getting us in when we needed to be seen & getting her prescriptions ready. All of that & their prices were always reasonable. After receiving a call, text, and email reminding/confirming us of our appointment time... we arrived (early) to discover that a walk-in/emergency had somehow trumped our standing appointment. I understand that they advertise as an animal 'hospital' and there will be emergency walk-ins... however, they’re clearly not staffed as such. I was there with my 2-year-old daughter and dog for over 2 hours waiting for the appointment to be completed. At no point (because of the delay that they imposed upon us) were we offered a discount, an opportunity to reschedule, and/or a complimentary grooming service. Additionally, we were (of course) offered opportunities to pay extra/up-charge for additional/non-essential services. Considering all of this, we now know that profit motive trumps customer service. We will no longer be a customer of Wilkinson Animal Hospital. Read Less

They have Saturday hours which is great for me. Took my female Jack Russell in for her check up, shots and blood work. Dr Gill and his assistants are very knowledgeable and helpful and took care my my little girl. Also picked up her heartworm and a new 3 month flea/tick chew they have. Highly recommend this vet. Before I discovered Wilkinson, I visited three other vets. The first told me Pippin had gingivitis and his teeth would fall out. The cat was four months old. The second vet, which I asked to look at his gums, said he had pretty teeth. The other only trimmed his claws, and I never met the vet. WILKINSON VETS ARE WONDERFUL AND THOROUGH. On our first visit, Dr. Moore did a THOROUGH exam of my 15-pound part Siberian cat. Yesterday he cleaned Pippins teeth, repaired a tooth, and Pippin is eating well again and back to his sweet self today. I am so thankful that I've found WILKINSON ANIMAL HOSPITAL! All the staff are friendly & helpful. We were just kind of a "wiggle in" as they were booked solid. But the staff made sure we were comfortable while waiting & kept checking in on us. We love Dr. Moore and Staff who have taken excellent care of all of our fur babies lately. We had no reservations in letting them treat each one to Dr.Moore's discretion. Thank you Dr. Moore, and caring staff for helping us as family members to our fur babies to be relaxed while they are in your care. We have been very pleased with each treatment plan for our babies, the consultation before, and after treatment. Worst. Experience. Ever. Recommended this pace to my friends. Took their dogs Joe and Ana to be groomed here. After promising to care for them we get a call that Joe is injured. Their dry cage had ripped one of his dew claws out. They then tried to charge us for meds for the injury. Upon getting him home the foot was bleeding again. Now rushing him to his usual vet to fix the issue. Not to mention....the groom job sucked. Read Less

We chose Wilkinson Animal Hospital based on a vet that respected a holistic approach to care. Every step of the process before we walked in the door was amazing. The ladies greeted Renny and myself with open arms and big smiles....the nurse was great and the Vet was amazing as well. I never felt rushed when asking questions and appreciated the time spent in order to make sure we are on the right track for our puppy. Just had our first visit with Dr. Moore with our 2 shar peis. ALL the staff are super friendly and helpful, from the ladies at the front desk to the vet assistants and boarding staff as well as Dr. Moore. All our questions were answered. Dr. Moore took his time to examine each dog and to speak with us with our concerns as well as his regarding our dogs. I did not feel rushed as if we were on an assembly line. I did feel that I was listened to and thoroughly heard. I am thankful that he didn't want to load my dogs up with medications due to allergies but try a more holistic approach first. He recommended dietary changes first as well as offering us suggestions on bathing to help keep their skin calm. We did end up purchasing a medicated shampoo and ear rinse as both are slightly inflamed from allergies with both dogs. We also got flea and tick prevention and heart worm prevention. We also got a tour of the boarding facilities as we will boarding our dogs with them and one of the reasons we chose them as a vet is because of on site boarding. Once again, all questions answered. My greatest fear is the separation anxiety as they will be staying for 12 days. The dogs will get to have play time with each other and can be placed in same kennel if the anxiety is great, and of course there is a vet on hand if needed. I feel very comfortable with the staff providing care for my dogs and my dogs were well behaved and (mostly) relaxed in the office. They did start getting a little antsy toward the end after they had sniffed every nook and cranny. Highly recommend! Read Less

We have been going to Wilkinson Animal Hospital since 2002! We have had 3 dogs & one cat they have cared for. I would not trust anyone else to help my fur babies! They are so thorough, call frequently to check on your pet, know your name, the pets' names, even your kids' & other family members' names! Staff is always smiling, working hard, but taking time out to pet or snuggle each lil patient, & always professional. Well worth the money! My husband complained about how much I was spending at the vet, so I took our beagle somewhere else once. The bill was higher in comparison!! I did it to prove a point! He has said nothing since! We see Dr. Virgin, who is honest, friendly, straightforward & so caring & compassionate! When we had our beagle put to sleep due to cancer, we got to request our favorite nurse, the whole office cried with us & gave us all the time in the world with her. Dr. Virgin was great at explaining when we needed to make this terrible decision, so supportive & understanding & strong for us! The staff know my pets' personalities, have even kept my children safe if a meaner animal was there & are like our family! My Gilbert purrs when he goes & my Amos just drags me right in the door! If you are looking for the BEST veterinary service in the area, this is the place. I find their prices reasonable and the wait time exceptional, but I never asked about these things at any practice when I started looking for a vet twelve years ago. I met a number of veterinarians, but for two years I could not find one that made me comfortable. My veterinary care standards are extremely high and my dogs (abused rescues) quite difficult. Then I found Wilkinson Animal Hospital and Dr. Gill. He exceeded my expectations in quality care and attention to detail. I question everything and he has answers. While I had two other vets tell me they could not deal with my dogs (because they were stoic and would not show any pain or emotion), no one at WAH ever mentioned their behavior. So, if you are looking for cheap or fast veterinary care, I can't help. However, if you are looking for the BEST QUALITY veterinary care in the Charlotte/Gastonia area, Wilkinson Animal Hospital is the place to bring your pet.Read Less
