Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT bring you cat or cats to this vets office. I came here on a recommendation from one of my patients, big mistake! The vet was mean to my cat and put medicine in his ears that was supposed to treat yeast but actually made my cat deaf. My baby now is so scared to go to the Vet that I have to medicate him when that was never the case before! Friendly staff and Dr Wood always give my dog the attention and concern like she was his own dog. I never feel rushed at my visit and if my dog has an issue, the treatment is always explained to me and other post things i need to do or watch out for. Read Less

These people are the most caring and knowledgeable about domestic pets... Dr. Michael Wood (Veterinarian) is one of the Best Vet's that I have taken my dogs and cats too....as a matter of fact I won't take my boys anywhere else but here.... the receptionist Carla is extremely proficient at her station and all of the staff treat your pets as if it were their pets they are all extremely incredible... I was very impressed with the care Dr. Wood and his staff provided my two dogs recently. I'm fairly new to town and took the pups in for routine vaccinations and check-ups. Dr. Wood was quite thorough and took a great deal of time explaining new options for flea control, suggestions for a behavioral issue I'm having with one, and answering all my questions. Very nice guy. He discovered a growth in one dog's gum, and operated a few days later to remove it. All was well, my dog healed right up, and I appreciated that they sent her home with sufficient pain meds. I was also glad they sent me a full copy of the pathologist's report rather than just a note indicating that the findings were negative. Finally, his prices seem very reasonable - as these things go these days. I'm looking forward to having Dr Wood and his staff take care of my little guys for years to come. Read Less

.Dr. Wood is a compassionate doctor and he is very dedicated to find out what is going on with our cat. I hope he can save our cat Phoebe. He is keeping her over night and doing blood work and giving her IV in her because she is very dehydrated and her kidneys are shutting down. I just hope and pray she will not pass away! Read Less

They're lovely. I'm very picky about the businesses I support nowadays because I find so many people (especially doctors) to be impersonal and  rude and apathetic about their job, etc.Americana has everything I love about small business--personable employees who make you and your animal feel comfortable, safe, and welcome, and the main DVM (Dr. Wood) is truly an esteemed medical professional who can give you solutions from household remedies to proper prescriptions. He really brings life into a room when he walks in, and has such a way with the animals he treats. He's got a goofy sense of humor but extremely professional and clear about procedures and diagnoses. He made me and Snowmonkey (my Yorkie) feel very comfortable! He's a very knowledgeable and compassionate veterinarian. I received a recommendation from a friend who has 3 big dogs and has been going to Americana for over 10 years. Best part--the prices. SO reasonable. Dr. Wood gives quality care that everyone can afford. Everyone I know complains about vet prices but Americana has the best I've come across in Greensboro, and every few months they'll have a vaccination clinic with great prices. I wish I could still go to Americana, but I've since moved to Brooklyn and believe me, pet care here aint cheap!!!You can trust Dr. Wood and his staff with your animal, and that is what is most important to me as a pet owner. This vet saved my dogs lives. They caught a bacteria infection and he stayed with us well after closing to figure out what was wrong. The next week my dogs and I went on vacation and I forgot the medicine, this office was nice enough to call in a prescription to a local pharmacy. Good damn people!! Read Less

Dr. Wood explained he will administer oxytocin to create contractions for her to push the puppy out. He read a vet dictionary page on administering the drug, and He told me it states 1 shot every 30 mins. (It wasn't until later I researched that it should not be administered more than twice, and if still unsuccessful, perform a C section. ----Here is a link you can read more about this, and there are so many places to read on this subject. (countrysideveterinaryser…)Regrettably Dr. Woods administered four shots of oxytocin in 1hr and 30 minutes. My dog was able to push out 3 dogs on her own, after two shots of oxytocin. The fourth puppy was breech (feet first). He tried to go inside of her vagina and pull it out. He explained it was out of it's sac. He did this for an hr. I can barely hold back tears reliving this panic of my 8 year old son, and wife watching this doctor forcefully go inside of her with his hands, than metal forceps. Dr. Woods explained he wanted to give her a rest after she delivered the fourth and he was gna send me home with her, And 2 More shots of Oxytocin !!!!!! He even explained where to administer it, in between the muscle fibers. I finally had enough and insisted on a C section. Needless to say, she delivered 3 pups vaginally, 1 in C section, and 4 died. Dr.  Woods refused to even be compassionate about what happened. He even said he was crazy to even have a conversation with me at 10:00 on a Friday night. After I questioned him about dosage and recommended dosages of the oxytocin, he instructed his wife to called the cops. I researched the drug when the C section was taking place, more than 2 doses of Oxytocin turns contractions into constriction. Think Boa Constrictor! Those poor puppies were suffocated in the uterus.THIS DR. WOOD IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED!
