I love the staff at Cardinal Animal Hospital!  They always put me at ease when I bring in a sick animal and are so patient with us and understanding.  If one of our fur-babies has to spend the day or go in overnight, they are never mind me calling every 3 hours and are always so good to follow up with us after a visit.  They even put up with my 30# cat that punches them and love on him even though he acts like a demon when he is there!  Love that Dr. Denis knows that I will do anything for my pets and he goes the extra mile to accommodate me and my pets needs. They staff and vet are all incredibly nice, and we bring both of our dogs there, including one that was successfully treated by them for heartworms. I give 4 stars, because on the last two occasions I was there, I was overcharged. The first time, someone came out to review the bill and said it was correct when I questioned it. Nevertheless, I still didn't feel it was right and called back the next day and they verified the error and promptly refunded the amount. Yesterday, included a bill for heart worm medication for which we only got a prescription, not the actual medication. I don't think either of these instances were intentional, but I do caution others to carefully review you bill. I believe that in total the overcharges would have amounted to around $300, and happening twice in a row in unacceptable. Read Less

THIS IS A RESPONSE TO ANTHONY JOHNSON'S REVIEW:I am the manager you are speaking of & you are not being honest with your details of the story. Let me clear this up.-You were here on December 16th for the initial groom. You were not happy with the cut stated not enough hair was taken off. You WERE told to come back for Kathy to fix it that day or within a week. She more than happy to fix a groom that a client is not satisfied with within a reasonable amount of time. -You chose to wait until today, which is 1 day shy of 5 weeks, NOT 3 weeks as you stated. A "fix" is done within a week. Hair is grown out after that long.-When you made the appt last week, you were very rude to our receptionist who was just letting you know that your dog's vaccines were past due & needed it for a groom. You became irate w/ her. She was just doing her job & following protocol. You accused us of being money hungry and hung up on her. Vax are required for all pets to come to the hospital that need to stay for any reason. Every animal hospital is like that.-When you refused to pay the groom bill today, I came to talk to you & politely explained the situation. You became very angry & irate with me. You said "SHUT UP AND GO AWAY.' I told you not to talk to me that way. You then said "I WILL TALK TO YOU ANY WAY I WANT-WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?" YOU THEN CALLED ME A THIEF.-I have multiple witnesses including other clients on how you spoke to me. How would you like it if someone spoke to your mother, wife, daughter, etc that way? -You are NOT welcome back here after the way you verbally abused me & the other staff member. It is a shame because we really do care about your dogs, no matter what you want to accuse us of.-You were never told today would be free.IT IS UNFAIR FOR SOMEONE TO POST A BAD REVIEW EVERYWHERE BECAUSE YOU WERE UPSET ABOUT A LEGITIMATE $50 BILL. I took my dog to Cardinal Animal Hospital on Dec. 19 to be groomed. The front desk staff asked me do I want her groomed like her prior visits. I said yes. When I got by dog back the haircut was not like the priors but left way 2 long. I was not upset at all. I told this to the front desk staff and told them no big deal. I will just bring her back after the holidays to be re-groomed. They then proceeded to tell me that the groomer who has been grooming my dogs for the last 2 y...ears no longer works there and they had a new groomer. Well if I had known that to begin with I would had shown the new groomer past grooming photos. The groomer called me about a week later and apologized and I told her no big deal again and that I will bring her back after the holidays to be re-groomed. I made a new apt. on Jan 12 and took her in on Jan 19. The new groomer was there and I showed her photos and all was good. I just went and picked up my dog and the front staff says to me that the groomer gave me a 10.00 discount off of the haircut. I told them I was not going to pay that. They are now telling me that they told me that I would have to bring the dog back within 7 days. First of all no one ever said that to me. And I mean no one. Otherwise I would have brought her back. It was the holidays and I did make a new apt. on the 12th. Anyhow, after much heated argument with the manager who tells me if I do not pay the charge for the grooming that they will send it to collections. I paid them. I gathered all my dogs files and will never step foot in that place again. Why should I have to pay for 2 haircuts within a 3 week time span?? When I say 3 weeks, the dog was groomed on the fourth week because that is all I could get. But the staff at Cardinal did not care. They just wanted money. They could care less if I have paid 120.00(including tip the first time) in just 3 weeks. I use to like Cardinal. But if they can not at least give a little on this and do the right thing they will never see my money, my dogs or me ever again. Still fuming over this. Dr. Denis and the rest of the staff are the best!!! I can't express how pleased I have been with their care of my three Miniature Dachshunds (Kasey, Lasey, & Kallie) for the past 13 years. They are always so polite and professional and truly care for your pet and you. They have saved Lasey's life several times and we are so grateful!!!! They are not over priced they way a lot of other practices are. I have recently moved out of state but refuse to change vets. I will make the drive once or twice a year for their routine care and only go somewhere else locally if an emergency arrives. That is how much I appreciate them and the great care and service I receive from Cardinal Animal Hospital. My only suggestion to make them better is move to the beach so I don't have to drive. Everyone was so warm, friendly and understanding when I brought Skip in panicked since he had seizures for the first time. I was emotional and felt very supported! I have had dogs all of my life and been through many veterinary offices and boarding facilities over the years and NONE compare to Cardinal Animal Hospital for cleanliness, care and customer service. Everyone was so warm, friendly and understanding when I brought Skip in panicked since he had had seizures for the first time. I was emotional and felt very supported! The financial charges were laid out to me well before I had to make any decisions and never felt pressured to "add on" anything unnecessary. I have had dogs all of my life and been through many veterinary offices and boarding facilities over the years and NONE compare to Cardinal Animal Hospital for cleanliness and customer service. I've always had a nice experience here and the care they give to my pup. The desk/admin staff are always helpful with scheduling any appointments (in advance or short notice). The techs always treat my dog so well and, while nervous, he always remembers them and warms up to them quickly. The docs (I've dealt with both) are always timely and seemingly spot on with diagnosing any issues. I hated leaving my prior Vet, but out of necessity, had to switch to a care provider on the western side of GSO. I was so nervous leaving Northeast Veterinary Hospital but I've been happy with Cardinal since I first walked through the door.Read Less

The staff at Cardinal always goes far and beyond the norm when it comes to insuring that Dan and I are well taken care of. He injured his leg and Dr. Denis diagnosed him with a knee problem so he did surgery on his knee a couple of months ago and he is like a brand new dog! We are so grateful to them. I love the doctors and staff at Cardinal. We have been going there for years and recommend them to anyone who asks who we use. They are all very good to our pets and treat us with kindness everytime we go there. One of my dogs recently was hospitalized for pancreatitis and is doing great. They even called to check up on him the day after he came home to make sure he was ok. I have never been to a vet that does that.Read Less

Bring your wallet and prepare to empty it if you go here. The people all seem nice but this place is full of crooks. My dogs were diagnosed with a health issue that needed medication. Not knowing enough about it I agreed and paid $130 for the medication. I was also told they would need a second dose in a few weeks to follow it up (same price). Come to find out I looked up the medication on 1-800 pet meds and it's only $40 for the amount they gave me (and you don't need a prescription for it), and they totally had the dosage wrong (to little) per the manufacturer's recommendations (guess that's why they needed two doses.) I am done here and going to find a better vet next time around. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Read Less

My wife and I bring our 2 dogs here regularly and the doctors are good but be prepared to check up on the paperwork yourself. We find mistakes on a routine basis we have to correct for ourselves and one of the receptionists clearly does not want to be there. She ignores me and/or shows an aggressive attitude at every visit (usually sits close to the door). There is also a vet tech who almost dropped one of our dogs, banged her head against the table and clipped her nails too short (she was bleeding when he brought her out to us). Avoid these two people for better service. Read Less

They are now telling me that they told me that I would have to bring the dog back within 7 days. First of all no one ever said that to me. And I mean no one. Otherwise I would have brought her back. It was the holidays and I did make a new apt. on the 12th. Anyhow, after much heated argument with the manager who tells me if I do not pay the charge for the grooming that they will send it to collections. I paid them. I gathered all my dogs files and will never step foot in that place again. Why should I have to pay for 2 haircuts within a 3 week time span?? When I say 3 weeks, the dog was groomed on the fourth week because that is all I could get. But the staff at Cardinal did not care. They just wanted money. They could care less if I have paid 120.00(including tip the first time) in just 3 weeks. I use to like Cardinal. But if they can not at least give a little on this and do the right thing they will never see my money, my dogs or me ever again. Still fuming over this. I took my dog to Cardinal Animal Hospital on Dec. 19 to be groomed. The front desk staff asked me do I want her groomed like her prior visits. I said yes. When I got by dog back the haircut was not like the priors but left way 2 long. I was not upset at all. I told this to the front desk staff and told them no big deal. I will just bring her back after the holidays to be re-groomed. They then proceeded to tell me that the groomer who has been grooming my dogs for the last 2 years no longer works there and they had a new groomer. Well if I had known that to begin with I would had shown the new groomer past grooming photos. The groomer called me about a week later and apologized and I told her no big deal again and that I will bring her back after the holidays to be re-groomed. I made a new apt. on Jan 12 and took her in on Jan 19. The new groomer was there and I showed her photos and all was good. I just went and picked up my dog and the front staff says to me that the groomer gave me a 10.00 discount off of the haircut. I told them I was not going to pay that. Dr. Denis and the rest of the staff are the best!!! I can't express how pleased I have been with their care of my three Miniature Dachshunds (Kasey, Lasey, & Kallie) for the past 13 years. They are always so polite and professional and truly care for your pet and you. They have saved Lasey's life several times and we are so grateful!!!! They are not over priced they way a lot of other practices are. I have recently moved out of state but refuse to change vets. I will make the drive once or twice a year for their routine care and only go somewhere else locally if an emergency arrives. That is how much I appreciate them and the great care and service I receive from Cardinal Animal Hospital. My only suggestion to make them better is move to the beach so I don't have to drive. I've always had a nice experience here and the care they give to my pup. The desk/admin staff are always helpful with scheduling any appointments (in advance or short notice). The techs always treat my dog so well and, while nervous, he always remembers them and warms up to them quickly. The docs (I've dealt with both) are always timely and seemingly spot on with diagnosing any issues. I hated leaving my prior Vet, but out of necessity, had to switch to a care provider on the western side of GSO. I was so nervous leaving Northeast Veterinary Hospital but I've been happy with Cardinal since I first walked through the door.Read Less

Bring your wallet and prepare to empty it if you go here. The people all seem nice but this place is full of crooks. My dogs were diagnosed with a health issue that needed medication. Not knowing enough about it I agreed and paid $130 for the medication. I was also told they would need a second dose in a few weeks to follow it up (same price). Come to find out I looked up the medication on 1-800 pet meds and it's only $40 for the amount they gave me (and you don't need a prescription for it), and they totally had the dosage wrong (to little) per the manufacturer's recommendations (guess that's why they needed two doses.) I am done here and going to find a better vet next time around. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Read Less

My wife and I bring our 2 dogs here regularly and the doctors are good but be prepared to check up on the paperwork yourself. We find mistakes on a routine basis we have to correct for ourselves and one of the receptionists clearly does not want to be there. She ignores me and/or shows an aggressive attitude at every visit (usually sits close to the door). There is also a vet tech who almost dropped one of our dogs, banged her head against the table and clipped her nails too short (she was bleeding when he brought her out to us).
