Dr. K & his staff took excellent care of our greyhounds, Sophie & Bacchus. Sadly we lost both of our joys in the last months. During their lives they were treated so well. This is a WONDERFUL group of people! They immensely care about your animals. We came to them after using another local vet and Forest Oaks made us (and our pets) feel very, very welcomed! We have been with them now, for over 4 or 5 years and I can honestly say that we have never had any issues at all! I feel very confident that they are doing the very best for our animals and are truly looking out for them. We have two pit bull mixes and one Heinz 57 and never once did they make us feel like we have "bad" dogs. As a matter of fact, Dr. Coble was so encouraging to us about our Pit mixes in saying that they are great dogs (which we already knew), but it was nice to have heard it from him. As an unashamed "cat lady", having a terrific vet is very important. The folks at Forest Oaks Vet have been amazing with all of my babies. They know that when I find a group of kittens and tell them that I am just getting them checked out...well, they know I will keep at least one. We use to get to go back in the exam room with our pets now they just take them from You tell them what is wrong with them and I guess Tara tells the doc. I like the old ways topi get to go back with them and you can tell. Tara has her mind somewhere else. She forget to tell the doc what is wrong cause they get really buse up front.I have had another pet that lived to be 20 and had to put him down. Was not charged a 63.00 owner fee to go back while they did it. How do I know that they would not wait until after they closed to do it. If yall say yall love animals that much you would layou of the 63.00 fee cause owner wants to be there. Read Less

The staff have always been kind and understanding, even when it comes time to make hard choices. The Vets and Vet techs are likewise kind will take as much time as they need to make sure I understand what is going on with one of their patients and what I need to do to be involved in my pet's care. As far as prices, yes, there are cheaper places to get care for one of my pets, but I am willing to pay a bit more for the fact that the staff is friendly, flexible, and will take time to help me understand the problems and solutions that are present with the patients. Most of the staff are very friendly but Tara is rude and she obviously does not care about the animals that are left her care. If she did care then she would not repeatedly ask questions that had been answered time and again. Because of her, we almost lost our dog. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and continued care there but ultimately they blamed everything on me. Finding a new vet!! Kay was incredibly sweet and she genuinely loves the pets but she is the receptionist and unfortunately, Tara is the person you have to deal with on the clinical side of things. My dog Reaper broke his leg this past Sunday had to take him to Carolina vet in Greensboro being a weekend they told us it would be over $3500 for the surgery an if we couldn't afford that they could amputated leg for around $2200 keep this is a 2 year with a lot of energy so that made it worse thinking he could loss his leg over a broken bone an they also said it would be $700 for his over night to wait for surgery the following day feeling hopeless I said let me have soom pain medicine for him an I would bring him to my vet at Forest Oaks so the next morning call them an they got me right in with consultation with Dr. Kleeisch his was absolutely wonderful welcome me in with a hand Shake met Reaper an started by explaining about the break and how he could fix it with drawings and even brought out the medical book to show me when I left that day I know in my heart my baby was in great hands they called me at the time they told me they would letting me know he was doing good I got to pick him up the next at 3 an the Dr came back in to see me an let me know how it all went as planned got to see the after x-rays an more explanation on what he did I highly recommend this office the whole staff has always been sweet an out for the animals best interest . I walked out of the office with my dog an still had money in my pocket an did have to try to get a loan for the vet bill like I would have at Carolina vet not counting the 75 percent I would have had to put down for them to do the surgery. I had to bring in my sweet cat because he was sick. Everyone At Forest Oaks was so kind and cared so much about my little guy. They were very knowledgeable on everything and ran tests that needed to be done. I went for the first time today. I was greeted 5 mins after I walked in then the lady who took my call the day before and another lady were behind the counter we must have had a miscommunication that I needed both animals looked at so instead of being like we can go ahead and see them they said I didn't say anything about the other dog and then proceeded to comment on the fact I was 5 mins late to being 15 mins early. I proceeded to thank them and tell them I will go somewhere else. I have two amazing puppies and I only want the best for them but I don't want to inconvenience they ladies that work there. Today was my first visit at Forest Oaks.All the staff I observed were very kind. It was obvious that they really cared about all the animals in their care. A young vet tech patiently waited for a gentleman to finish his paperwork as she held his fur baby and then helped him to his car. Dr. Kleisch has been Andy's doctor since we adopted him. Wouldn't trust anyone else with my 4 legged babies. I knew I was at the right place when I had to find a new vet for my last dog. When we got there Dr. Kleisch ask if he could hold Amos. He just stood there talking and rubbing Amos and said "I wouldn't want a stranger poking on me without getting to know me first". I will never forget the first time I meet Dr. Kleisch. It was behind the grocery store too. I brought a baby rabbit in that I had keep alive for a month. Then he started going down hill very fast. I ran in that door with my little bunny and praying so hard. Of course little bunnies don't do good without their real mom but he worked and tried to save him. After I finally got myself together and thought about the day, I realized I had just meet the most compassionate people in the world. I must have looked like a fool balling over a rabbit but they never said a negative word or gave me a strange look :) He is a great Doctor and Never rushes me out, I love all of them. As a breeder I feel like they don't get any better than Dr Roger Kleisch and David Kleisch. They don't know how much I love and depend on them. I have never taken my dogs here, but last Saturday they called and said they found my dog that left on Christmas Day. Someone brought him and scanned him. They people at Forest Oaks kept Lucas until I could get there (two hours away from home). They were so sweet and it was so obvious they took amazing care of Lucas. I've been taking my 4 legged kids to Dr. K. and Ellen for 20+ years. Found this "Prince Among Men" when his office was down behind Winn Dixie at Forest Oaks Shopping Center. He has cared for my babies like they were his own. He has never lied to me ~ no matter what HAD to be said. And he has always been gracious and gentle when it was time to set them free from pain & suffering. I live out by the airport which makes it a bit of a drive to Dr. K's. I have been with Dr. Rodger Kleisch @ Forest Oaks Vet for 20 + years. He has not only provided the very best medical care for all my Babies over the years, but I feel like Dr. K. and his staff have become my friends. He doesn't order unnecessary test or procedures to inflate my bill. He even gives a discount if you have more than one pet. But most importantly of all to me; when the time comes that the "hard decision" has to be made, he doesn't drag out treatment unnecessarily. He tells me in the gentlest way possible what we have to do. And he reminds me that this too is an act of love....quite possibly the ultimate act of love. He knows how painful this decision is and he shares that pain with me. He and his staff are some of the kindest, most compassionate folks I know. Even the other Docs he has that cover for him on his days off are extraordinary. I MUST specifically mention Dr. Randy Lynn. Dr. Lynn worked tirelessly with my Irish Setter; Shayne O'Malley for 19 long months waging a war against the diabetes that ravaged his beautiful body. We won many battles but ultimately lost the war. He never left our side and was always available via his personal cell phone no matter the time of day or night if we needed him. He truly went above and beyond in his efforts to save my Son. However, Dr. Kleisch and Ellen Brown, our Angel, - cleverly disguised as a Vet Tech helped me release Shayne from my arms into the arms of the angels. Without those two by my side I don't think I could have made it through that horrendous day.I could type for days and never come close to saying how wonderful this practice is. Forest Oaks Animal Hospital is as good as it gets....period. Dr. Rodger Kleisch and his staff (Steve, Tera and Ellen the dachshund expert..forgive the names I missed...) are family to us, and our furry friends LOVE TO visit...there is no hesitation, tail between the legs, or wrapping their leashes around any and every object nearby. We have such a history with them from the Winn-Dixie Shopping Center and Joe's family (Ringo, Satchie, Kitty Sam, Kasey) before we got married, to the state-of-the-art facility on Alamance Church Road. When we have had elderly dogs, we trusted Dr. Kleisch to guide us through this process too. I am convinced Dr. Kleisch's dedication to our Great Dane, Dee Dee, helped her live to 11 years. When her quality of life was so low, Dr. Kleisch made this as easy as possible by letting Dee Dee just lay down near the shrubs on the side of the hospital in the sunshine, with me sitting by her side, as we had done many times before. (She was weak and it would have been more traumatic putting her on a stretcher to go inside) Dr. Kleisch rubbed her head and told her what a good old girl she was, then she just drifted off. He did what to be done,but he grieved right along with me. They allowed me to stay out there as long as I needed, hugging me and fully understanding my loss. This is the kind of treatment I have received, whether picking up medicine, an abscess on the cat, consistent professionalism and genuine care.
