I had been coming here for awhile, but always felt they were overpriced.  Sometimes I felt like I was getting fleeced.  Also, you are going to be waiting.  Even if you had an appointment, you are probably going to be in the waiting area for at least 30 minutes.  I feel they didn't value my time.  The kicker came when I had come to the hard decision to have my 15 year old cat euthanized.  When I called, I was grilled about why i wanted to do this.  I felt again like they were looking to get some more cash out of me.  After I justified my decision to them, i was told there would be an examination costing $52 before they would euthanize her.  Really?  This is a bit much.  I found another vet that day. I can't say enough good about Sedgefield Animal Hospital! My boxer girl Winnie's (she was a rescue from deplorable conditions) mouth was a total wreck! Dr Banker & Heather did such a very long great extensive dental on her, they kept me updated constantly! His wife Mary & the rest of the staff were wonderful also, tolerating me being there most of the day.. I am very very thankful!! Dr. Elaine Poore is the best. She diagnosed my Shih Tzu's rare condition when other vet had missed diagnosed. She thought about Sasha's condition and called me 2 days later with the diagnoses. I live in Durham, and have brought both of my dogs to see Dr. Banker for dental care over the years. The entire team at Sedgefield is friendly, warm, and extremely helpful. The front staff are kind and professional, the nurses and techs are caring and insightful, and I know my dogs' dental health could be in no better hands than Dr. Banker's. During consultations before procedures, he provides a very clear assessment, diagnosis, and rationale for the plan moving forward, and answers all questions I have. During the procedure itself, the nurse will kindly call me, and let me know everything is going fine. (Of course, it's always a welcome relief to hear this, and I really appreciate this courtesy.) In follow-up meetings after procedures, Dr. Banker clearly explains what was done, provides helpful photos, and again, answers all questions. Honestly, I don't often write online reviews, but I feel compelled to do so in this case, because my experiences at Sedgefield have been so overwhelmingly positive. It's an understatement to say, these folks are total pros. I feel fortunate to live so close (only ~ an hour away). Definitely overpriced! $500 for x-ray and worm test Worm test was supposedly negative until I went to another vet the same week who found worms and showed me them. I will never go back to this vet again! Read Less

Dr. Banker and his staff, are the very best. he is a renown dental vet and people travel from all over to see him. he has done wonders on my 3 gals, root planing, gum graphs, fillings, and saved many teeth. his staff is so caring. they help out with rescues and saving all pets. i travel 180 miles to see Dr. Banker and i would travel further if necessary. he is extremely knowledgeable as well as his entire staff. i love the way they care for my 3 gals. It's hard to capture in words as to how extraordinary this place is! We brought our nearly six month old dog here after spending the weekend at Carolina Veterinary Specialist  due to an unfortunate accident where our 12 year old daughter unintentionally hit the dog in her upper jaw with a bat from practicing her softball swing.  This was horrible and traumatic for our family especially our daughter. We didn't know if we could financially afford the care to keep our dog. That all changed after learning of Sedgefield and the great amount of expertise that DR Banker has as a Vet dentist. I learned that he is only one of two in the entire state that performs advanced dental procedures to include repairing mouth related injuries. DR Banker and the staff at Sedgefield are truly committed to caring for your pets. They are absolutely professional, upfront and honest with you from the start. It is uplifting to know that this is their passion to ensure your pet receives the best care and not just a profession to make a living. Dr.Banker and the staff are excellent. I searched him out after looking at my dogs teeth in dismay and googling canine dental problems and realizing they get the same things we do. I don't let my general practitioner treat my teeth, I go to a dentist, so from now on only Dr.Banker will be working on the teeth of my four-legged fur-babies. Read Less

I'm really pleased with this veterinary hospital.  I'm relatively new to the area and had had a bad experience with a previous vet who did not seem to care at all about my pet.  I searched reviews for excellent veterinary care, found Sedgefield  and decided to give them a try.  I'm very glad I did!! Our kitty had to get most of his teeth removed.  We were referred by our regular vet to Dr. Banker.  He has a ton of experience and his philosophy is a perfect mix of new and old school.  He was very good about sitting down with us and answering all of our questions before and after the procedure.  In the end, he took great care of our kitty and the total cost of everything was less than expected.  The only minor negative: They need a new building.  It looks kind of old and run-down, especially on the inside.  I would definitely recommend this place if your pet needs dental care. i was unhappy with my current vet, searched for a dental specialist, and i am soooo glad that i found Dr. Banker and Sedgefield Animal Hospital. although it is a long drive, 3 plus hrs round trip, i am willing to drive to this hospital b/c they gave such excellent care to my girls. Dr. Banker is amazing w/ his dental knowledge and techniques in dealing w/ dental problems.  the staff is wonderful. everyone is so nice and thoughtful. i love that they rescue pets. on top of all of this, their prices are extremely reasonable. i have already referred several of my friends who's dogs have dental problems. people drive from many different states to seek his knowledge and help. so you know that he is one of the best in his field. Dr. Banker and his staff are outstanding. He's performed extensive dental work on my pets with great success. He does a lot of work on police dogs such as crowns. If a police department invests a lot of money in a working dog they have to have teeth repair to continue working. Dr. Banker was able to save my dog's canines and counsel me about toys and habits. He went out of his way to make sure we had a clear view of what do to in order to minimize further damage. Also, he provided pictures taken throughout the surgeries, which was valuable for any future work needed. I've had a pleasant and attentive experience with each of his staff members. They are professional at all times and will go out of their way to see that a pet has a high comfort level. I recommend him, and would trust him to do a great job with any serious health issue.
