My cat was ill for a day. I took him in for a check over....we were seen quickly. Great testing, and left with lots of meds and information. My sweet cat is almost back to his normal busy self. My dog is a hot mess in all honesty, especially at the vets! He had his first visit here as we are in the process of finding a new vet! Despite numerous potty breaks before entering the office he still decided to poop all over the floor and the doormat. The front desk staff were extremely nice, welcoming, and understanding about his nervous poops and cleaned it quickly and without furthering my embarrassment at his behavior. Kovu usually HATES the exam at the vets office but Dr. Clark and Alayna were super sweet with him. They sat on the floor and spoke softly to him, offered him treats, and just generally loved on him. He was super relaxed compared to past vet visits and didn’t drool or pant like he normally does. He even licked all over Dr. Clark’s face which he NEVER did to any other vet we tried. With simple patience and love Dr. Clark and Alayna were able to help Kovu relax whereas his previous vet had me medicate him prior to the visit. They were also very willing to listen to my concerns and explain their reasoning behind any/all recommendations for my dog’s health. I’m confident in their ability and decision making and we will definitely be returning to them for all his future Veterinary needs. I absolutely can’t recommend them enough. I have been with Southwood for years well decades. My two maltese babies go there and I enjoy that the vets take their time with them and explain any changes or products needed for my fur babies. The vet assistance always spoil them with HUGS and KISSES. I was going to look at Banefield because of the imsurance that would be a saver $$$$  BUT after reading the reviews I am reminded why I have been with Southwood for so long... We have been taking our dog here for 3 years and will continue to take her here. We drive about 25 min to get there but it's worth it. The doctors and staff are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and know my dog so well. They cater to her and her needs and are so gentle. I took my dog to one other vet and didn't feel nearly as welcomed and she seemed more on edge. Another plus, their waiting area doesn't smell like multiple dogs and cats walk through there. I have allergies and am sensitive to this and have had no issues while waiting there. I honestly couldn't say enough nice things about Southwoods and highly recommend them. My dog is very picky about people and would rather stick to her self but when we come to the office she is always happy to see our same vet tech and doctor! She hates going to the vet but she loves the people and does awesome with them every time! We have gone here for 11 years. When my cat and other dog passed away they sent sympathy cards. Been there twice. Most of the staff is great except one woman who didn't think anything of slamming her clipboard on the desk 4 times within 10 minutes in a lobby of stressed animals. Everything went well with my dogs acl surgery. I'm so thankful for your experienced staff! Everyone was very helpful through the whole process. My dog popped several stitches 2 days post op. We moved here from Georgia over the summer, and when it came time for one of my dogs to have their yearly check-up I found Southwoods Animal Hospital. Before I choose a new vet I always check out their website and read the vet bios to see if I think they'll be a good fit for us. I also did some research and found out that they're one of only 2 AAHA accredited veterinarians in our area so I decided to call them for an appointment. Scheduling an appointment was easy, and they were even able to reschedule my appointment for the day I chose when I had to cancel at the last minute. Everyone at the clinic was very nice and they even gave us a welcome bag and welcomed us to Greensboro. I had them enter my other 2 dogs into their system as well and I look forward to using Southwoods for as long as we live in Greensboro. Read Less

After adopting my little girl Allie in 2006, I looked for a vet in my area. I was so lucky to find Southwoods! The counter personnel, assistants, doctors and groomer Misty were always so attentive and made me feel like they loved Allie like I did. Allie passed away on October 25 and they were all so caring in comforting me and helping me to make final decisions. Allie was a scared little girl and Misty was extremely helpful in getting her used to the grooming process. I had a female and male German Shepherd both of which were patients at Southwoods. My shepherd's were so close that if we had to kennel them they always put them in a kennel together. They were just that close all the way up to when Sasha passed away. They were furry friend's till the end. I worked there for over a year and they cared for 3 of my animals, when my dog of 14 yrs passed away Dr. McGregor who had been taking care of him didn't even give her condolences to me after his loss. I found Southwoods online for a quick emergency visit when I found a tick on my pup. They worked me in and reassured me everything would be okay. I decided to make them my vet and groomer and they've been wonderful! Every vet I've met with has been personable and great with my wiggly and super nervous dog! The office staff is great and also very kind. As someone who acts as their dog is their child, I love seeing people in the veterinary field that also play along with my obnoxious overprotective helicopter dog mommy behavior. Thank you! Our beloved Golden Retriever had a baseball size tumor inside her lower abdomen. I knew it had to come out and reached out to our Veterinarian Dr. Kelli Paschel at Southwoods Animal Hospital to see if she would feel comfortable in removing the tumor. This is not a typical operation that they would do because of the size and location. The compassion and love everyone has shown my pets at Southwoods gave me the confidence Darby would be well taken care of. Dr. Paschel removed the tumor, Darby spent one night and came home the next day. She is doing really good. Doctor Paschel is my Super Hero!!! Darby made it through the operation which I had been told she may not. I can't say enough good things about Southwood's staff and veterinarians. This was not an operation they usually would undertake and it took hours. They have always shown compassion and love to my beloved pets. The entire staff is wonderful. We have three dogs and two of the three have had surgeries at Southwoods. In fact, we first came to Southwoods after having a poor experience with another area practice when our smallest dog needed a tumor removed. We immediately felt at ease with Southwooods level of care and knowledge. I highly recommend the practice. We recently started using their grooming and have been pleased. Have been bringing my furbaby to them since we first brought her home and they never fail to do an amazing job. Everyone is polite and truly loves their job. Prices are extremely reasonable. Also, they handle filling out and sending in my pet insurance which saves me the time and frustration, so that is also a plus. They really care. I've been taking my pets there for years. I do want to warn people though, if you leave your pet there and run errands due to a high wait time, they do CHARGE you 10 dollars. My only other concern if their wait time. If you have an appointment, and they have an emergency case that  comes in, they will treat the emergency first, which is MORE than understandable. But they won't tell you that your time has been increased due to the emergency. Which is a little inconsiderate of my time. But I stick with them because they have EXCELLENT vets that really know how to fix a problem or medical condition. I don't typically have to take my pet back twice for the same medical issue. They are so friendly and nice to my family and my pets...Dr.Clark is a amazing doctor...I would recommend him to anybody...Dr.Joe is a great doctor to...They are a little pricey but so is every animal hospitial....The take care of all my animals needs...When you go out of town and need somewhere to leave your animal leave it here they even spend quality time with the animals while your gone they let them out and feed them! They take care of any animal that you can name....rabbits ,dogs, cats, hamsters, anything! I would love to have another one of these maybe in archdale where I live...Even though Southwoods is in Greensboro and I live in archdale I go all the way to Greensboro just because that's how good they are! you should definitely go there! Dr Joe is the most compassionate and skilled veterinarian in Greensboro. He has helped my dogs immensely. I had an old golden retriever he treated for cancer then arthritis and using acupuncture he helped my dog live a long and minimized the pain in his life. He has laser equipment that is state of the art and is using it to minimize pain in my other dogs.
