Very disappointed in the services I received from the vet doctor when I took my Boston Terrier for an examination after he suddenly fell ill and collapsed. I was informed by the vet doctor that they needed to take a full body X-ray in order to diagnose what may have caused this and how to treat the problem. After taking the X-ray, I was told by the vet doctor the X-rays they took was not clear enough for them to precisely read because of their outdated equipment, but the vet doctor thought he may have a chemodectomas but she was not sure. Without an ounce of care or compassion for me or my sick fur baby, she bluntly told me, "there is nothing we can do for you here" and blew me off, and walked away! I asked to speak with the vet tech and she kindly suggested that I take him to a veterinary specialist hospital, where they have more updated medical technology, ie: X-ray equipment, ultrasound, cat scan, etc. to be properly diagnosed and treated. I did take my dog to NC Veterinary Specialist where they had to take another round of X-rays because they could not read yours and was able to definitely diagnose my dog with pulmonary hypertension and chemodectomas from their updated X-ray equipment and tests. Since I had to pay to get another round of X-ray done that were clear enough to be properly read, I am requesting that I be reimbursed for the cost of the X-rays ($500.00+) that your vet doctor was unable to read. THAT IS THE LEAST YOU CAN DO TO MAKE ME WHOLE! I have been a satisfied customer of Banfield for over ten years, and for me and my very sick dog to have been treated so poorly with no care or compassion was abhorrent! Read Less

I am very happy with everyone here but especially the vets. As a new patient (my former vet retired), with a sick elderly dog they got us in quickly and provided me options to help my old boy live his best life possible all without costing a fortune. I signed him up for the best wellness plan and considering that at his age he needs a lot of extra(and expensive) care, it's worth every penny! At 12 yo, I thought they wouldn't be able to do much (that I can afford anyhow) but they showed me I was wrong. With the right medications, he went from very sickly to running around and chasing our cats like he was a puppy again within 2 weeks! The meds are a little expensive but they have been great working not only with me but also with online sites so that I can buy them for a price that's within my budget. I've gone three times so far, and each time every staff member has been pleasant and caring. I did sign up for the wellness plan and unlike other reviewers, I actually read what the plan covers, the terms of the plan, and the fine print (I.e. the automatic renewal date. Honestly, if you want to take care of your furbabies why wouldn't you want it to renew?) like with any plan you have to decide if it will be worth it and for me, it is. We have an 8 y/o who needs dental work done and if it wasn't for the plan our out of pocket costs would be well over $600 dollars (who just had that lying around to drop on your animals? I'll take the 32$ a month payment plan instead, tyvm) and with the plan our expenses we will be paying will be about a hundred (anesthesia, medications etc). We were going to book her appointment this month but we just found a very sick kitten on the side of the road in a thunderstorm, and signed her up for the plan and it reduced all our medicine costs by %20 and her spay will be 100% covered and her office visits are covered. (Each visit is about $40 bucks, I've had three visits already and with the wellness plan it has Β basically already paid for itself) Dr. McKain is very compassionate and you can tell that she cares. She even told me she will look into more research Bc I don't want our new kitten to get a complete hysterectomy, instead I want her to just have an ovarianectomy. We will continue to go here. The convenience of the hospital right in a PetSmart can't be beat. Read Less

My last two dogs went from puppy to end of life with Banfield. Felt a connection at first but by the end it was a corporate thing and no warmth for my struggle for what's best for them.

Dr. McKain, Imani and Susan were the team that supported me as I laided my beautiful companion of 11 years (Yogi) to rest, May 4th. They were all so loving to Yogi, and were absolutely there for me as well. Dr. McKain helped me stay grounded with what was in Yogi's best interest related to his quality of life. The team showed compassion and love for both Yogi and I. I am so greatful they chose the professional they are in at Banfield. They also never ever know what your pet illness is.but they will charge you for any test and still my pet went home still sick for 3 days and counting. Read Less

I really should have read previous reviews before choosing this hospital for my puppy. Please beware before purchasing a wellness plan. This hospital uses shady business practices to get customers to purchase. It is not verbalized that if you purchase a puppy plan it will automatically renew to a different adult plan the following year unless you prohibit it. How is this justifiable? Something like this should not be legal or at the very least it should be verbalized very clearly to the customer. My overall experience was terrible and I would never want to work with them again. The employees are poorly trained and give misinformation that is very costly to the client. Would never recommend and highly discourage anyone from taking their pet here. Read Less

We have been bringing out kitten Pepper here since she was 6 weeks old. We use the Wellness plan and it has been amazing. I am always quickly welcomed when they see me and the vet and vet tech have answered any and every question I have ever had. When she was 10 weeks old they had to do an ear cleaning and she was not happy about it. They did an excellent job of calming her down so they could finish. I was told why she had to have the ear exam how much it was going to be and how much the meds were as well. They showed me the proper way to put her ear drops in and even had me try to make sure I did it correctly. Next month our Pepper goes in to be spayed and I am excited to see how well they do. Had a dog that needed to put down due yo cancer. My boyfriend's mother crying due to this. One employee did not want to give a receipt and tried to take advantage of her. The bill was 159.35 and 200$ was given they tried to keep the change due to her situation. She asked for her change and receipt but, the employee there said it was not in their policy to do so. He then got frustrated and used the f word in anger towards her. She replied she was going to call the police, he said go ahead and just as she was going to a lady inside said wait 2 minutes we will search for it as soon as she left she quickly came back with the change and receipt. Beware of this place they will try to take advantage of you if they notice you are distraught. Read Less

Well one thing's first I started my cat on a wellness plain about a year and a half ago not knowing that it would automatically reinstate Β its self but at first every thing was good until I got him fixed when I picked him up that day his Dr said she would call and check up on him in a couple day to she how he is doing but we got nothing a few months later I did receive a call telling me to pick up his 2ed round of flea meds witch I did and at that time I asked when his last comprehensive exam was I was told that it was still a ways out and that I would be contacted witch I was not i didn't know about the reinstatement until i saw the balance change on my statements. I called up there to tell them the issue and I was told that it was fine they would use my last comp. Exam leaving me with 2 more for this term, ok great ! Well 3 months later I got to the point where I needed to put a hold on the account the guy that I spoke with told me that o had to buy out my plan witch he told me would be over 200 dollars so he told me to call up to the vet to see if they can fix it, I was then told that they didn't know who told me they could have told me the last visit would roll over but I had to eat that charge anyway and completely refused to admit any type fault her staff had caused even though her computer showed 3 messages showing no one attempted to contact me for his last appointment, in short they are just after money and don't really care about your fur babies! I would recommend this Banfield if you have animals like the ones I grew up with: generally healthy pets that live long and happy lives and just need a check up every so often. Unfortunately our kitten was not one of those--she had an incurable disease which ultimately led to her untimely death. It was terribly frustrating--for over six months we spent over a thousand dollars bringing her in and out of the vet, doing different tests, trying different approaches (eventually we signed up for the insurance package, which didn't end up saving us much, if any, as a lot of tests she needed were off the plan.) The cost was not a factor, however, what concerned us is that no one seemed to care--we kept bringing her in again and again, telling anyone we could how sick she was. No one listened! I know the disease she had is hard to diagnose (and nothing could have been done if she had been diagnosed), but we did feel sad about the lack of attention she received. That said, when we were finally able to get a diagnosis (a week before her death) people were very kind to us. Read Less

I have been using Banfield for many years now as a Wellness plan customer and was to the point of finding another Vet for my two dogs. I found the staff at the two locations that I use; High Point NC and Winston Salem (Hanes mill), to be very impersonal and non-apprising of my pets visit. I would arrive to pick up and be handed a host of printed material and sometimes medication with no explanation of its necessity. I rarely was addresses by the veterinary Dr. and the receptionist was rushed. I decided to give them one more attempt at securing my business on 11/30/2016 at the Winston Salem (Hanes mill) where I took one of my dogs in for his annual dental and checkup. Banfield has adopted a reworking of both their intake and discharge procedures and I must say it is refreshing. During intake they take the time to ask questions about the overall health of the pet, as well as probing for other concerns. I received a call from the Vet after the dental procedure where she took the time to discuss with me all her findings and addressed my concerns assuring that all my queries were answered. At discharge I was given medication with admin instructions and a paper that identified all personal who came in contact with my pet during his stay. They followed up with me the next day with a phone call to assure that my pet was doing well. I hope these procedures remain and that Banfield continues to improve on its €personal€ approach to its clienteles and their pets. Ok, things have changed at this location. I would normally give a better review but not now. I have used Banfield in High Point before because of Dr Bowen who used to be Lawndale years ago. He was compassionate and seemed to care. Well he isn't at Banfield anymore and no notice was given. They have one vet and are swamped. If you aren't a wellness member they don't seem to care about you? We called yesterday to make an appointment for our dog who we just noticed had swelling on her face. We figure being older it is a tooth. They told us to bring her in at 10:00 this morning. We went and could tell they were busy. The receptionist was rude and said they tried calling us 30 mins before appointment to say they couldn't do it because they were to busy. We live in Greensboro it takes 20-30 mis to get there! I was like :o Not happy, she didn't even say sorry nadda. Said we would have to come back Monday morning. I asked if there was anything they could give us for the pain if she had any etc...she said not without an examination. I also read a review on another site that said they did they same thing with a cancer patient who was going on for surgery. So I'm thinking they just want to be a wellness clinic and not a surgical/diagnostic clinic. Time to find a closer vet who cares. They should have already hired someone else too if they are that busy. One vet can't handle all that. Very mad at the moment. Read Less

Took our lab for his annual checkup. This was our first time at Banfield Pet Hospital and can I say, ""WHAT a pleasant surprise! The staff, technicians, the Vet, ""everyone involved"" just super courteous, and super professional. Totally caring. Can't say enough good things about the experience, and they do not waste a person's time. You'll be in and out and on with your life in no time flat, and you pet will be happy as a clam. I am very happy with everyone here but especially the vets. As a new patient (my former vet retired), with a sick elderly dog they got us in quickly and provided me options to help my old boy live his best life possible all without costing a fortune. I signed him up for the best wellness plan and considering that at his age he needs a lot of extra(and expensive) care, it's worth every penny! At 12 yo, I thought they wouldn't be able to do much (that I can afford anyhow) but they showed me I was wrong. I did sign up for the wellness plan and unlike other reviewers, I actually read what the plan covers, the terms of the plan, and the fine print (I.e. the automatic renewal date. Had a dog that needed to put down due yo cancer. My boyfriend's mother crying due to this. One employee did not want to give a receipt and tried to take advantage of her. The bill was 159.35 and 200$ was given they tried to keep the change due to her situation. She asked for her change and receipt but, the employee there said it was not in their policy to do so. He then got frustrated and used the f word in anger towards her. She replied she was going to call the police, he said go ahead and just as she was going to a lady inside said wait 2 minutes we will search for it as soon as she left she quickly came back with the change and receipt. Beware of this place they will try to take advantage of you if they notice you are distraught. Read Less

Well one thing's first I started my cat on a wellness plain about a year and a half ago not knowing that it would automatically reinstate Β its self but at first every thing was good until I got him fixed when I picked him up that day his Dr said she would call and check up on him in a couple day to she how he is doing but we got nothing a few months later I did receive a call telling me to pick up his 2ed round of flea meds witch I did and at that time I asked when his last comprehensive exam was I was told that it was still a ways out and that I would be contacted witch I was not i didn't know about the reinstatement until i saw the balance change on my statements. I called up there to tell them the issue and I was told that it was fine they would use my last comp. Exam leaving me with 2 more for this term, ok great ! Well 3 months later I got to the point where I needed to put a hold on the account the guy that I spoke with told me that o had to buy out my plan witch he told me would be over 200 dollars so he told me to call up to the vet to see if they can fix it, I was then told that they didn't know who told me they could have told me the last visit would roll over but I had to eat that charge anyway and completely refused to admit any type fault her staff had caused even though her computer showed 3 messages showing no one attempted to contact me for his last appointment, in short they are just after money and don't really care about your fur babies! I would recommend this Banfield if you have animals like the ones I grew up with: generally healthy pets that live long and happy lives and just need a check up every so often. Unfortunately our kitten was not one of those--she had an incurable disease which ultimately led to her untimely death. It was terribly frustrating--for over six months we spent over a thousand dollars bringing her in and out of the vet, doing different tests, trying different approaches (eventually we signed up for the insurance package, which didn't end up saving us much, if any, as a lot of tests she needed were off the plan.) The cost was not a factor, however, what concerned us is that no one seemed to care--we kept bringing her in again and again, telling anyone we could how sick she was. No one listened! I know the disease she had is hard to diagnose (and nothing could have been done if she had been diagnosed), but we did feel sad about the lack of attention she received. That said, when we were finally able to get a diagnosis (a week before her death) people were very kind to us. Read Less

I have been using Banfield for many years now as a Wellness plan customer and was to the point of finding another Vet for my two dogs. I found the staff at the two locations that I use; High Point NC and Winston Salem (Hanes mill), to be very impersonal and non-apprising of my pets visit. I would arrive to pick up and be handed a host of printed material and sometimes medication with no explanation of its necessity. I rarely was addresses by the veterinary Dr. and the receptionist was rushed. I decided to give them one more attempt at securing my business on 11/30/2016 at the Winston Salem (Hanes mill) where I took one of my dogs in for his annual dental and checkup. Banfield has adopted a reworking of both their intake and discharge procedures and I must say it is refreshing. During intake they take the time to ask questions about the overall health of the pet, as well as probing for other concerns. I received a call from the Vet after the dental procedure where she took the time to discuss with me all her findings and addressed my concerns assuring that all my queries were answered. At discharge I was given medication with admin instructions and a paper that identified all personal who came in contact with my pet during his stay. They followed up with me the next day with a phone call to assure that my pet was doing well. I hope these procedures remain and that Banfield continues to improve on its €personal€ approach to its clienteles and their pets. Ok, things have changed at this location. I would normally give a better review but not now. I have used Banfield in High Point before because of Dr Bowen who used to be Lawndale years ago. He was compassionate and seemed to care. Well he isn't at Banfield anymore and no notice was given. They have one vet and are swamped. If you aren't a wellness member they don't seem to care about you? We called yesterday to make an appointment for our dog who we just noticed had swelling on her face. We figure being older it is a tooth. They told us to bring her in at 10:00 this morning. We went and could tell they were busy. The receptionist was rude and said they tried calling us 30 mins before appointment to say they couldn't do it because they were to busy. We live in Greensboro it takes 20-30 mis to get there! I was like :o Not happy, she didn't even say sorry nadda. Said we would have to come back Monday morning. I asked if there was anything they could give us for the pain if she had any etc...she said not without an examination. I also read a review on another site that said they did they same thing with a cancer patient who was going on for surgery. So I'm thinking they just want to be a wellness clinic and not a surgical/diagnostic clinic. Time to find a closer vet who cares. They should have already hired someone else too if they are that busy. One vet can't handle all that. Very mad at the moment. Read Less

Took our lab for his annual checkup. This was our first time at Banfield Pet Hospital and can I say, ""WHAT a pleasant surprise! The staff, technicians, the Vet, ""everyone involved"" just super courteous, and super professional. Totally caring. Can't say enough good things about the experience, and they do not waste a person's time. You'll be in and out and on with your life in no time flat, and you pet will be happy as a clam.
