I've seen all the doctors at Hemlock Bluffs since moving to NC 2 years ago. My dog had cancer prior to moving here and I've felt extremely comfortable with the treatment and follow-up she has received since seeing the docs. LOVE LOVE LOVE DR SNYDER! My dog is alive today because of her. He has congestive heart failure and my previous vet gave up on managing him and said he had months to live TWO YEARS AGO. Thank god my neighbor recommended Hemlock because I really believe Dr Snyder saved his life! She just would not give up! And every time my baby is sick she gets me in no matter what the same day, no waiting. She stayed over her lunch last time just to work around my schedule because I couldn't get in during regular hours... and then to top it off called me at 8pm that night just to check on him because she was worried about him! And I KNOW she wanted to get home!! Always feel like I am her number one customer....exams are always so complete, she takes her time to examine every part and piece. Prices are very reasonable, my previous vet in Holly Springs gave half the value at twice the price! And the office is incredible....staff is always smiling and laughing, they even help me out to my car every time when I have my kids with me as well. You just don't find service like this anymore! This will be my second review in five years. We just love this place!!!Just incredibly nice, nice, nice location, surroundings, doctors, technicians, and the front desk staff are all just wonderful! Jen, Jenny, Justine ...the upfront staff are just super nice and fun! And the office is always so clean! I love the fact I can get my Keurig coffee fix there in the mornings too when I bring in Rocky. The technician staff in the back that work with the dogs are just so sweet to my doggies. I feel like they are family as I am in this veterinary office every week, twice a week for the last year + having Rocky get fluids under this skin for his chronic kidney disease he is being treated for by Dr. D. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. We never have a problem getting an appointment or even just speaking to someone on staff for a question over the phone. We started with Dr Snyder and Hemlock Bluffs Animal Hospital 4 years ago after adopting our rescue puppy Kolby. I asked for a recommendation from a good family friend and veterinarian (currently practicing with NC State/farm animals), and she immediately recommended Dr Snyder 😊. Kolby has been well taken care of now by all the staff at Hemlock Bluffs, and couldn’t be happier. This held especially true just a year ago, when we had a stray showed up on our doorstep. The whole team was wonderful trying to help. Jack needed medical attention and tried to locate an owner. In the end Jack joined our family. What has endeared Dr Snyder and Hemlock Bluffs to us is how they work with Jack. He’s a bit skiddish and can get overwhelmed. Dr Snyder is wonderful with him and loveingly works within his needs. The entire staff at HBAH is wonderful. So much so that we continue to take our dogs there even though we’ve moved to Wake Forest. After I rescued my Wheaten we saw four different vets trying to resolve his skin allergy issues. Dr. Snyder came up with an action plan and its worked. It’s not a magical miracle and he will always struggle some (notorious breed issue) but it’s under control and his quality of life dramatically improved. It's difficult to find a vet for small pets like our hamster. Many places offer it but have a hard time handling them and resort to anesthesia for small things like teeth trimming. I'm so glad we went here- this place is very professional and reasonably priced, but also showed great care and affection for our pet. I was impressed with the service and care at Hemlock Bluffs. We have always taken our 5 year old and 4 year old Pit mixes to a vet in North Raleigh as we don't trust just anyone with our dogs and their well-being. We switched to Hemlock Bluffs a few months back, as we now have a newborn and driving to N Raleigh just isn't in the books anymore, and I am so glad we did!Our older dog has had chronic incontinence for the past two years. The first medicine the old vet put her on made her sick. The second medicine worked but it was too harmful to organs to keep her on it long term. That vet told me the only other option was surgery, but that the surgery sometimes doesn't work. We ended up just giving our dog the second medicine when the incontinence got too bad.Fast forward to HB - I took our older dog in to get her checked and assessed for the incontinence again as it had gotten bad. The doctor spent about 20 minutes with us, checking my dog and clearly explaining to me all the options. He didn't even need to ask me about her history because he had read her entire file that was faxed over from the old vet. This blew my mind. My own doctors don't even do that when I switch practices! It was so nice to know that he actually cared enough to learn about my dog before coming in the room. I had asked him if surgery was our only option since the medicine hadn't worked and he said there isn't even a surgery to fix incontinence. Good thing I didn't trust my last vet  He put my dog on a new medicine and sent us on our way. The medicine ended up not working so I called them two weeks later and left a message for the doctor to ask what to do. To my surprise, the doctor call me back, not a nurse or front desk person, and talked me through more options. This is serious customer service! We finally have my dog on a medicine that is working and I am thankful that HB helped get her in such a great place. We have never had anything but 100% positive experiences here. We've been taking both of our dogs to this practice for the last two years, and absolutely love the care that they receive. The staff is friendly, courteous, and most importantly very caring toward our animals. Any charges that may appear on the bill are explained upfront and in great detail. When we took our cats here, the doctors were great and I've got nothing but nice things to say about them. The staff however are a different story entirely - they were rude and unwilling to accommodate simple requests. For example, when we needed to board our cat, I asked for photos to be taken during play time, which is an extra charge that we paid for. They wouldn't do it because "they don't have a camera at the vet." When I suggested that perhaps they use their cell phones to take pictures, they said "it's not really appropriate to use personal property for that purpose." Wow... seriously? Furthermore, we had given them just enough food to cover the boarding period. When we came to pick up our cat, we got some food back. We didn't give them any extra, so they must have missed some meals. I have no reason to think our cat didn't spend 3 days straight locked in a cage and hungry. And this wasn't our only negative experience here... needless to say, we won't be back. Read Less

We had been bringing 4 animals to this vet for a few years but switched a couple of years ago.  They are definitely very expensive and push a lot of tests.  They also don't seem to be up on the latest or most economical meds and care practices.  We spend hundreds of dollars with them for a thyroid ear pen med because it was difficult to pill our cats.  Our new vet recommended a suspension of the med in tuna oil given with a dropper, which the cats love, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper.Our saddest experience concerns our 13 year old dog.  She has had a hacking cough for years.  Hemlock Bluffs was never concerned and said it could be "reverse sneezing" and nothing to worry about.  After a few years it finally got so bad we took her to an old country vet who suspected a collapsing trachea and/or congestive heart failure. We took her to a specialist vet hospital and they determined it was CHF, which is always fatal.  She has (and has likely had for years) leaky heart valves and one side of her heart is severely enlarged.  The hacking was caused by water collecting in her lungs (for years).  They immediately put her on several meds to slow down the advancement of the disease.  They give her another, plus or minus, to live.  Had the disease been caught several years ago the meds could have been administered and slowed down the progression.Needless to say we are deeply saddened by Hemlock Bluff's dismissal of the abnormal cough.  Since then we have heard what "reverse sneezing" sounds like and it's nothing like our dog's cough.  Had Hemlock Bluffs paid more attention, recommended another opinion, and been less concerned with pushing unnecessary expensive meds, and moving the animals through quickly maybe they would have caught it and our pets life may have been extended another couple of years.  They are also fairly young and might lack the experience required.  We entrusted the care of our pets to an expensive vet and they blew it.Do not use these people and always get a second opinion. There are so many reasons I love this vet clinic I don't know where to begin. The staff are extremely friendly and so loving to our dog. They are compassionate, knowledgeable and thorough. We feel like they love our pet as we do. We love the décor and the cleanliness of this hospital. The boarding facilities are fantastic and I love the attention my pet receives when we have to leave for the weekend. We travel a lot now and i'ts comforting knowing the attention she gets while we are away. I know she is in wonderful care and gets plenty of playtime and love. The staff kiss on her and treat her with open arms upon our arrival everytime!! She thinks its her home away from home. So happy we found this vet and my kids even look forward to our visits here. This is one of those vets that push "practice building" unnecessary tests for your pet. For example they pushed a heartworm test for my dogs and cats. There is no effective treatment for heartworm in cats, so if the test is positive you have very few options. They push two complete exams a year because a pet's life is "shorter" than a human's. They push many obscure tests and get you to do bloodwork many times if there is a slight problem. We have spent thousands on our pets since switching to these guys. Ridiculous if your pet has no symptoms and you are providing the basics. To me, the basics are what is required by law -- rabies (and get the 3-year, not the one-year, whatever a kennel may require, and monitoring your cats health youself.. Now we are using a sensible vet who does the basics, monitors general health, and tells you the real story Read Less

My two little girls are chihuahuas. One is very particular who she will allow to be her friend. From day one she has accepted the people at Hemlock Bluffs Animal Hospital. Kim is her favorite. My other girl is much more accepting, but is still mammas girl when we are away from home. She contentedly goes to anyone there and I can see the entire staff truly care for all the babies that in their care. I have boarded them there, the first time they were ever away from us, and they were very well cared for. This is by far the best vet around. We have moved around Wake County over the last 20 years and switched vets several times and have never been as impressed as much as we have with Dr.Snyder. We had to have our Yorkie put down six years ago and this practice went above and beyond helping us thru this most difficult time. Finally a year ago, we brought in a new puppy unexpectedly. If it wasn't for Dr. Snyders advise, I'm not sure we would have known how to handle this breed with small children. We love this puppy and she now has the best temperament that I TOTALLY contribute to this wonderful vet!!! We have been very happy with Hemolock Bluffs taking care of our Guinea Pigs over the past 2 years Stormy and Simba. Stormy has had 2 teeth filings with them with good success. The second filing recovery didn't quite go as well but we brought Stormy back for a follow up a couple of days later and with some medicine is now getting back to eating his usual Cucumbers and Parsley again now. We had been coming here for two years and they've got a top notch group of people.  Dr. Snyder and Dr. Midkiff both took good care of our two dogs.  The vet techs we worked with are really caring, helpful, and knowledgeable (Javier, Cindy, and Lindsey).  I feel a good sense of trust when our dogs are released in their care.  Since we have one senior dog, a lot of diagnostics and tests have been done lately so it is getting very expensive each visit.  Hemlock definitely charges more for their tests, meds, and general visit costs than other vets.  Also recently, we have had differing philosophies on the quality of life for our senior dog versus the vet's recommended approach.  We didn't feel like we had any options every time we sat down and talked with them.  Unfortunately, all this put together, I had to seek out another vet to work with and get a fresh second opinion.   I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars for them, but it's the high costs that are a major turnoff.  Otherwise, they are a sound hospital.  Note:  They recently moved offices from Cary to Holly Springs which is a bit more out of my way now. The staff is very courteous, professional, knowledgeable and the vets are just the best I have seen in a long time. They walk you through and inform you through the entire physical exam of the pet and treat you as if you are part of it just as much as they are. We were looking for a vet in Cary to transfer our pets from after using the same vet in Durham for the past 10 years. After one bad experience at another practice, I was very happy to find Hemlock Bluffs. The staff was incredibly helpful - even helping me walk my dog to the car as I carried a new baby. The doctors are very knowledgeable and genuinely concerned with our dogs? health. They also understand and respect financial constraints and helped us to find an solution that fit our budget when our dog?s seizures worsened. They repeatedly called to check on our dog to make sure new medications weren't causing problems and really went out of their way to educate us on the disease and treatment options. Our guinea pigs had a check up and one was examined for hair loss. All the personnel at HB were kind, courteous and very knowledgable. Though the tests and proposed treatments were quite pricey we were able to work out a reasonable option that both served our budget and our guinea pig's needs. I adopted my first puppy back in February and was concerned about his health since he was the runt and came from a shelter. Dr. Snyder and her staff were very welcoming and answered any and all questions I had regarding his health (and I had a lot of questions)! We first brought our dog to Hemlock Bluffs looking for a second opinion for a paw problem. We had a good relationship with our current vet, however, the issue was costing us a lot of money and had the potential for a lot more pain and money. I saw Hemlock Bluffs on Citysearch and decided to try them due to their good ratings. They welcomed me and my frightened puppy and made us both feel very comfortable. After the exam, they confirmed our current vet's opinion. I want to point out that the exam was very thorough, meaning the vet and all the staff spent alot of time with me, explaining things, they reviewed the films I had brought and they even called a specialist to review them. Everyone in the office was very professional, knowledgeable and great with my scared pup. Afterward, they followed up with a phone call and a letter. I was very pleased with their obvious concern that both me and pup were happy and doing ok. I would highly recommend them. P.S. My pup's paw is fine now, no additional expense or pain was incurred. Hemlock Bluffs is a great vet. We stumbled across them because they were so close to our house, but thank goodness we did. Both doctors are thorough in their examinations of our cats, and they are also very kind. You can tell that they, and the staff members, love animals. Their hours, being available on Saturdays, make them convenient. They were very helpful with making sure we were up to date on our vaccinations and had all of our records in place before our recent move to the west coast. I highly recommend them. Read Less

One of the best in Cary, these guys have always been great with my cat. Dr. Snyder in particular is a great vet,  she seems to love my little cat even when my cat isn't always the easiest to get along with. This place is my vet of choice for location and service. They've got a great location in Cary, and a well trained and personable staff. One thing that sets them apart from other vet hospitals in the area is that the staff is required to attend weekly training sessions. Dr. Snyder and the staff at Hemlock Bluffs are amazing. This is the best experience I have ever had with a vet, and believe me, we have seen our share of them from Seattle to SF to LA. Our dogs are our entire world and I feel like Hemlock Bluffs gets this. On our initial consultation/check up, Dr. Snyder spent at least 30 minutes asking me questions about both dogs health histories and she noticed something about Fredo that has been overlooked by other vets that may very well have saved his life. The assistants are very friendly, knowledgeable and compassionate. They specialize in dental work/ cleaning and have state of the art laser equipment that is less invasive and results in much faster recovery. Recently Fredo went in for a minor surgical procedure and the doctor called me once before she went into surgery to let me know he was fine and doing okay with the anaesthesia, and AGAIN after the surgery to let me know he was doing fine post-op.The doctor!  I absolutely need this kind of reassurance when it comes to my dogs.There is no shortage of vets here in the Triangle because of the NCSU vet school, we exhaustively checked out a LOT of vets when we moved here, and there is a reason we pass by 5 other animal hospitals (I counted)  on our way to Hemlock Bluffs.
