The staff is extremely courteous and caring!!  This is an emergency hospital so if your pet has a non- life threatening injury or illness it's possible to have to wait (especially in the event of a true emergency case coming in).  For those who've left reviews after coming in and having to wait, you must be understanding of that concept at a facility such as this.  My dog had ruptured her ACL and required surgery... could not recommend anyone better!!  I'll always trust these folks at having my sweet girl's interests best interests at heart!!  Thank you CVS!! Horrible place. We took our dog in around 8:30pm after a coughing fit that left him short of breath. Checked in (paid $104) and sat in the waiting room for a few moments until we finally got in a room around 9pm. 35 minutes go by and the tech comes in to take some vitals. 2 and 1/2 hours later the vet shows up to do a 5 minute assessment. Didn't explain much and kept trying to hurry out of the room when we still had questions. She seems pretty annoyed that we even had questions.. One of the meds she prescribed him had to be compounded and stated she would call it into a local pharmacy for next day pick up. I called back the next morning and got a horrible tech on the phone with absolutely no manners and rude behavior. Said "I don't know about any script, Dr. Rice isn't here." Surely some sort of note should have been left. Didn't offer any resolution and just seemed smug as hell. My boyfriend ended up calling a few hours later and got the same attitude. He informed management and another location about the lack of compassion and effort. Our pets are like our children and this kind of service is crazy to me. We wait hours for someone to rush us out and take our money. We ended up following up with our regular vet the next day who finally sat down and explained to us what was going on with his treatment. CVS never explained what meds they were giving him, gave him a shot of something without discussing that with us first, and the follow up was horrific. Never again will I ever bring any pet here. On Monday 10/29/early Tuesday 10/30 I visited the Huntersville location with my Jack Russell. I explained to the receptionist that Darla was bleeding heavily from her rectum and that the blood was ranging from bright red to burdundy to dark red. Darla was very lethargic and it was apparent to anyone who looked at her that she was gravely ill. I had Darla in a box lined with a sheet and a couple of doggie pads. I paid my $104 and was told the Vet would see me shortly. The Receptionist/Vet Tech took Darla to the back and brought her back out and told me Darla's vital were good and that what I was seeing was poop and not blood even with there being blood all over her backend and hair. I sat there for a very long time watching my dog get more ill by the moment. A lady came in after I had been there for about an hour and checked her dog in. When she saw the shape Darla was in and observed the bleeding for herself she asked me if they knew my dog was in that bad of shape. When I explained to her that indeed they did she immediately left with her dog. I sat there for about 20 more minutes and finally left at 215AM telling the Receptionist that I was offered no explanation as to why I was having to wait so long and that my dog was literally bleeding to death while I waited. She still offered no explanation and just shrugged her shoulders. She didn't even say she was sorry! I took Darla home and watched her all night thinking by the time my Vet opened she would most definitely be dead. I got her to my Vet first thing Tues and her vitals were horrible and they did agree to me that she had lost a tremendous amount of blood. She stayed with them for 2 days having IV's run into her and they wasn't sure she would make it. I am absolutely appalled at the treatment (or lack thereof) we received from Carolina Vet Specialists. The thing that upsets me the most is there was only 1 other pet there the entire time we were there.  It has been quite the road back for Darla and up until yesterday I still wasn't sure she was going to make it. What do I expect from Carolina Vet Specialists? I would love to have the $104 refunded to me since nothing was ever done for Darla. An apology would certainly be in order but to make myself perfectly clear, I have been to this Vet more than once for emergencies involving my pets. I will NEVER set foot in there again. If there was anything less than 1 star offered I would certainly give it to them. If you have an Emergency save yourself the pain and wait for you Vet to open. My appointment was at 9:30 this morning. Staff is very friendly, however, I'm still here over two hours later for a simple consultation. Waited about 25-30 minutes in the lobby before being brought back to a exam room. My baby girl had her vitals taken & then we waited for about 35-45 minutes to finally see the doctor. Dr wolf was very nice, personable, knowledge, and definitely someone I would trust with Zoey's knees. After seeing him we waited another 30 minutes for our estimate. It's 11:50 & we're finally on our way home now. Maybe they're just understaffed today, but the human ER doesn't seem to take this long. Read Less

I had to wait quite a while, but after all its not like I had an appointment. Dr was wonderful. He spent a lot of time with my pet. Fortunately my dog and I had a good outcome. I was glad that they were there to provide services during hours that my regular vet was not available. Sent home with very clear discharge instructions. Lab is on site so I was able to get blood work results right away enabling me to make informed decisions about my pets care. Read Less

My husband and I were visiting my grandmother when we found a poor little squirrel that appeared to have been paralyzed from the waist down and couldn't get back up it's tree. We felt like we couldn't just leave it there to be eaten or die of starvation, so my husband made a couple calls and we were directed to bring it to this vet's office. The people at this vet's office took the squirrel and said they'd take care of it, at no cost to us. Such wonderful kindness, how could we not give them a great review and recommend them to anyone who wants kind and compassionate people to take care of their own little fur babies! Read Less

Understaffed it seems . Not much of a choice for those that live in the north . Very expensive. I had to bring my cat here as my Vet didn't have the appropriate facility. The compassion shown at a time of emergency was very comforting. For anyone that has pets, it’s hard to hand them off to a vet for treatment or surgery. At Carolina Vet Hospital it was easy for me to trust them that they would give the best care to my dog. They charge me around $1000 to treat me dog . my dog was sick and only in they care for 24 hours and died. Dr Rice told me this unapologetic and gave me my dog in a box. Don't go here they are money hungry people. Read Less

Unfortunately, our visit was for euthanasia on a Sunday afternoon, as our regular vet isn’t open on Sundays. Everyone at the clinic was very kind and loving towards us. The vet who administered the medication was very gentle in explaining to my 11 year old daughter what would happen during the process. They allowed us as much time to say goodbye as we needed. I am also pleased with Good Shepard, the company they recommended for cremation. Pricing seemed reasonable for emergency care. Overall, I would not hesitate to use them again. Read Less

I have been to the Huntersville location a few times.  My last visit was several months ago. It is a horrible place to have to go, but a god-send when you need it.  It is expensive, but it is a specialty/emergency practice that is open 24/7/365, after all.  I was there late at night.  When I walked in, there were no other people in the lobby.  My wait was pretty long, and I was getting irritated by the fact that I was the only one there and it was still taking so long.  My dog was admitted and when I was taken to the ICU area to say good night, it became abundantly clear why it took so long.  There were no people in the lobby, but the ICU was slap full of patients!  There were probably 15 or 20 dogs and cats, monitors beeping everywhere, and what looked like a comatose dog on a large bed on the floor with two nurses working on him.  Other nurses were working with other patients. I couldn't believe my eyes.  They were slammed.  I am so sorry for being mad!  I had no idea at the time just how overwhelming it can be behind the scenes.  I had never been to the back area before this night.  Despite all of that, the doctor took all the time I needed to answer my questions.  He was wonderful. This is the only emergency vet near me that sees birds, but they don't seem to understand what "emergency" means. I called because my Conure has injured his leg (suspected break) and wanted to have him seen ASAP.I was told there was "no room" for him (as an emergency) and was told to schedule an appointment. I am furious that they're claiming to be an emergency vet but are refusing to see my bird, who needs medical care. I can understand sometimes it gets very busy, and that maybe you don't actually have time for another patient, but still. The earliest appointment I could get is in 5 days (at another vet) and I'm hoping he'll be able to make it that long. I would not suggest this vet to anyone, unless they're in dire need, but even if they are, this vet probably won't see them Read Less

This place really takes care of you and your pet. With such genuine people and caring staff , my Pitbull felt comfortable and at ease amidst being in pain. I traveled 18 miles to come here instead of my local vet ER in Cabarrus emergency vet because they treated us beyond poorly!!!! We were the first ones there, yet were brought into a room to get removed from it, while my dog was urinating/bleeding on their floor. They also assumed to muzzle my dog because she is a. Pit! " she looks aggressive so I'm gonna muzzle her so she's not crazy" UGH!!!!  But at Carolina Veterinary Specialist she was greeted with love and hugs. I love it here! Thank you all! Read Less

I would only visit this place again if it were an emergency and there were no other options. The two lady's at the front desk were not helpful and made it seem like we were inconveniencing them when trying to check in. We were put in a room and waited about an hour before anyone helped us. I brought my 9 year old Mexian Rosy Boa in for a checkup. The ladies were all so nice, the vet was not only extremely knowledgeable, but she was loving and kind with my snake. The only draw back is the price was very expensive, but it was worth it and if my snake is ever sick I will take her back! Read Less

Due to profiling from the staff as soon as we walked in the door a bi-racial family with a pit bull they allowed my 180lb happy, friendly, and very well taken care of pit bull die. First before any testing was done they said the cost is $8000. We told them several times we wanted X-rays we new what was going on with him and what they were saying was wrong. Finialy after doing the X-rays turned out we were correct but then again she changed the price for the treatment. So told us at this point maybe we should put him to sleep. Not due to his illness but due to his size and his breed. We took him there needing help and after being there 5 hours and leaving 3 hours after that my happy 180lb dog was died. Read Less

How do you call yourself/business an "emergency hospital" if you don't have certain tools or can't do certain procedures??? My puppy died today because of your lack of equipment and/or ability to do your job, you should be ashamed of calling yourself an "emergency pet hospital".....such a disgrace. Anyone looking to take your pet here, I would suggest not unless it's your last resort. If you do have to take your pet here DO NOT take "no" for an answer, make them run every test (that they can) again and again and if they tell you that something you notice different about your pet is from a "procedure", don't believe them and make them run another test. We recently visited Carolina Vet twice with our sick cat. Unfortunately, he was put down, but that was our choice as the best option for him. The attentiveness of assistant/associate/staff members was 5 on a scale of 1-10. However, the attentiveness and compassion of the veterinarian was exception (10 on a scale of 1-10). I was comfortable having my cat visit this facility. I am not giving them 5 stars because of the costs involved. In addition, I know they are trying to be compassionate when suggesting additional tests that should not really be performed. It was me query that flipped the switch to putting my cat down as he was much to weak to withstand any additional probing or palliative care. Read Less

Was cautious about visiting here at first after reading some reviews. After the visit I can honestly say that the staff and the vet were very professional. Our dog had swallowed something and we were afraid that there was a high risk of our dog not being able to pass it. The staff treated me and my dog with compassion and respect. After a quick shot my dog vomited the item up and things were back to normal. The price was reasonable for an emergency vet at 10:00 PM at night. Read Less

No detailed bill stating what was paid for when you paid in installments... they said they didn't have the ability to do that. If I could give this place a negative star, I would. I brought my cat in, frantic, because of excess bleeding following his sterilization surgery a week prior. The staff was incredibly unsympathetic and only seemed to care about me paying the initial $100 for the vet to even look at him. The vet told me he needed emergency surgery and made it out to seem like he was there was no other option. After debating for 2 an a half hours, I very reluctantly told them I won't pay the $900 total an it was only then that the vet offered the option of getting the antibiotics and taking him to a regular vet in the morning (thanks for telling me that 2 hours ago while you and your staff watched me cry and debate what to do). I paid for his medicine and took him to his regular vet in the morning. She said that my cat is fine (he simply developed an abcess), doesn't need surgery, and will be okay- my cat is doing wonderful currently. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised considering they didn't even clean him up or even take a good look at him to realize that there wasn't even anything for them to preform surgery on?!?! Scam, scam, scam! Do not take your pets here. They'll also advise you sign your pets over to them if you "can't afford to take care of them". We run a pet hotel and spa and recently had a guest develop bloat over the Thanksgiving holiday. We transported the pet to CVS in Huntersville, calling ahead to alert them. They were very responsive...meeting us at the door, quickly checking in and assessing the situation and prepping for surgery later that day. Dr.Thompson and the staff communicated with us and the pet's owners at every step and the dog came through fine. Great service--so fortunate to have them nearby and available 24x7. Read Less

My chi mix and our family traveled from Ohio to vacation and Lake Norman and immediately showed signs of a collapsed trachea.  Everyone at this facility from the greeting staff to the MDs and the techs were very knowledgable and handled our situation urgently and were SO kind and loving towards my little boy.  Luckily tho he did have a slightly collapsed trachea he was able to be released with meds and is doing almost 100% better thanks to the great care he received from Dr. Katy Boger and her phenomenal staff! I had great service from these guys over the past few days.  They had great respect and sympathy for my 15 year old Shepherd as she was near her end, and clearly explained all of my options so I could make an informed decision.  They were great about communicating with me both during the night and again in the morning, and I was thankful that they allow you in anytime to see your pet if they require an overnight stay.  I felt that they really cared for her.  As far as pricing goes, it was what I would expect to find for the level and quality of care that she received so it was not sticker shock.  When I read the other reviews, I realized that most people are not aware that the staff at the front desk are not vet techs, they are there to check you in but can not legally direct you in health and welfare.  I thought that was worth saying since they were extremely sympathetic and sincere during a very emotional time. My lab mix had a nail injury while playing in the yard. Half the nail wa having by the quick:( Since it was a Saturday and my vet was closed I went to the Huntersville CVS. The vet tech was disengaged and apathetic. She was in and out quickly... taking my dog to the the exam area without telling anything. I heard a few cries and prayed that it wasn't my girl. When the tech returned with my dog she didn't say a word. When I asked how she did she just looked at me with a smirky smile and with attitude told me that the vet would be back in. I was so upset... my girl has been to the vet a lot in her 4 years with me ...for intestinal worms, giardia, mange, ongoing allergies and bilateral knee surgeries. Everyone has loved over her. Yes, her paws are red, raw, inflamed and infected at the moment and therefore very sensitive so she may not like you touching them... she deserves TLC and sympathy... not attitude!The vet was a little more talkative but I had to ask her about how to care for the nail! She was going to discharge us without any instructions?Alot of money for very poor care.I will NOT be going back. Read Less

We've had to use this emergency vet a few times. We have small dogs so it doesn't take much for them to get dehydrated if they start vomiting. One of my dogs had to get Fluid replacement once. They were fine with this. However one time the vet told me that she thought my dog had a liver shunt and that her glucose level was low. I took her to our regular vet who quickly determined that she did not have a liver shunt and her glucose level was low due to the vomiting. Most recently our dog had obvious pain with chewing and drinking from her bowl. Since our dogs can apparently tell time and know when the regular vet closes, this was on a Saturday afternoon. She was becoming more distressed the next day so I took her to Carolina Vet. The vet couldn't determine the cause of her pain and suggested that we have her regular vet perform dental X-rays since they didn't have this machine. Our regular vet diagnosed her with myositis of the jaw muscle in 5 seconds, said she did not need X-rays, gave her a steroid and soft food for about 5 days and my dog was fine. I'm glad we have this emergency vet close by, but I will try to wait out most things in the future as I'm concerned about their diagnostic abilities. Read Less

My Golden had ingested a human pill that had fallen on the floor,no 5 second rule with a Golden,the techs and vet checked his vitals every hour and the vet was very accommodating on a super busy night.Praise God all turned out just fine and the staff was so wonderful to a very worried "mom" A HUGE plus is that they only charged for the initial exam. 5 stars for dr powers and her team, 1 star for front office staff. I have taken 4 animals hear and am amazed that these people are still employed. They are lazy and rude and act like they're doing you a favor when you pay $500 a pop. Dr powers is a professional and clearly loves animals. Otherwise I would never come back. Read Less

THIS PLACE WAS HORRIBLE! I brought my sick dog here thinking this was an honest animal loving VET! After about 2 hrs and $100 of dollars later a nurse came to me to tell me that they had given my dog floids and there was "NOTHING" else they could do. That at this point the best thing to do would be to put him down! Because he would not make it to morning!!!! BECAUSE IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT this was the only place open! The lady then proceeded to give me the cost of putting my dog down and gave me and my husband a few moments to think! Something in my gut told me this was wrong it could be I wasn't ready to let him go. I decided to take him home to try and hold out for our family vet. I checked my boy every hr and got him to sip some water. First thing in the morning I rushed to the vet where I was told my dog could be saved! Had I gone along with these money hungry people Idea of SAVING! I would have lost my dog. People please get second opinions before believing what you hear! Read Less

I will never go here again.My cat Rooney has asthma and severe allergies, and the last time he went to our regular vet (Birkdale Animal Hospital--they are fantastic), our vet heard a heart murmur. We needed to get a cardiac ultrasound to rule out heart disease, and since BAH doesn't have that particular machine, we had to go to Carolina Vet Specialists. Unfortunately, the staff there doesn't know how to read a referral, so they shaved Rooney's abdomen and part of his side for an abdominal ultrasound, and then tried to get us to pay for that test since he was shaved anyway. That test is upwards of $250, and the cardiac ultrasound is $550. Their apology was halfhearted and insincere. They tried to blame our vet and us rather than owning up and accepting that the mistake was theirs. Rooney constantly licks the bare skin that he is developing a rash in one spot. Then, Dr. LeGrange told us that our cat has nasal tumors and after diagnosis, cats usually pass within 3-6 months. She completely lacked empathy and was so clinical about her explanation, saying that we could get a CT to definitively diagnose his illness. A CT is over $1000, and she did not seem willing to entertain other possible factors that might contribute to Rooney's symptoms. She seemed to view us as a way to make more money, not people whose cat needs compassionate care. Since then, we have gone back to Birkdale Animal Hospital. Rooney was sedated and Mark at Birkdale did find a mass. He performed a biopsy and found that Rooney's mass was not cancerous, but a polyp. The polyp will be removed and he can live many more years.  My advice? Don't go to C-Vets if you can help it. They will likely try to get you to pay for superfluous tests and give your pet a negative prognosis. Read Less

We went in last night with our 7 year old Morkie who collapsed and could not walk. I have mixed feelings about CVS. I am grateful that they have 24 hour emergency service, however, the front desk staff did not exhibit much empathy or personality. Jodi came to get the vitals while we waited and she was very kind. Dr. Herbst was very kind, took X-rays and took us in the back room to explain them.  She wrote up a very detailed, comprehensive report, gave us a disc with the X -rays and immediately sent the email to our vet. This was at 1:00 in the morning. I realize that there are only two emergency vets in the area and they are extremely busy, I just wish the front desk staff could work in tandem and have a heart. I cannot even believe that this place does not have five stars from everyone. They are absolutely amazing! Without these doctors my cat would have died months ago. They saved her life and I have had several months with her that I'd never thought I would have. They always answer the phone and are eager to help. I have emailed the oncologist I have been dealing with several times and she is always very quick to respond. They are very sensitive to my feelings and emotions during very difficult times with my cat. They gave me multiple treatment options and we discussed the pros and cons of each of those options before I made a decision. I very very highly recommend these vets to anyone with special needs for their pet. Read Less

The absolutely worst service ever. Here is a summary of my experience:We have a 10 year old golden retriever we brought in last night at 11pm.  It's now 10:21 am the next day. This is on a weekend (Saturday night - Sunday morning). We have been waiting since 8am for a "specialist" to examine our golden who was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma last night (that's cancer around the heart and other areas). After arrival at 8 we were told by the lady up front (worthless) that it would be 20-30 minutes for the specialist to come speak with us. Hour and a half later I go to ask her what's an ETA.  Her answer is exactly the same as it's been since we arrived (minus the one expectation of 15-20 minutes). "She's working her cases and I don't know what time she will be to yours".  In the meantime we have seen at least 8 customers come in and out being treated.  Suggestion to those reading this- go to another vet if you want "service". I'm not sure if it's the lady at the front desk not caring about her job or if it's a broken communication between "the back and the front".  As a customer I really don't care. Just let me know if it's going to be 6 hours or 20 minutes.I'm glad this place is for emergency service only (for us). I will never come back here. brought our kitten here after a spay operation became infected.  Original vet sent me away saying 'it's just herpes'.  she spent the night on IV antibiotics but in the end, the infection was too much and we had to put her down.  Through the whole thing everyone was so kind and caring, informative and they listened to me - I cannot say enough about this practice - made one of the worst night/days of my life bearable with their compassion. This place saved my pets live! Very friendly, caring, courteous and compassionate staff. Experienced vets. This is a great place for exotic pets. Visit Dr. Lauren Powers- she is the best in town and she is the one that saved my pets live (a Netherland Dwarf Bunny Cookie, who after two years is a happy healthy bunny). It was nothing short of a miracle for Cookie to survive a bad infection! Dr. Powers fussed over Cookie every day, called all her Doctor friends for expertize and kept me in the loop.I saw many customers very happy with the care in this place and many saved lives Read Less

I have mixed feelings about this place.  There are only two avian vets in the Charlotte area that I am aware of.  Neither are convenient to where I live in the Dilworth/Sedgefield area.  This one seemed more recommended by the bird store I visit.  So I ended up here when one of my birds broke their leg.While the leg seems to be fully healed, there was another issue that occurred during the watch.  See my bird was forced to wear the Elizabethan collar which she hated.  The first fitting they put it on facing down over the wings.  the edges were sharp and my bird cut and injured one of her wings.  While the bird doesn't seem to mind it, you can't help but wonder if it will ever heal since it hangs down.I have had birds all my life and this is the first time I've taken any of them to a vet so I have nothing to compare the experience to.   But I can't help thinking that they screwed up and the collar should have been put on facing up like you see on on a dog or a cat.  For the most part, the staff was friendly but I think some of the staff needs people skills.  Is that why they get into veterinary science? so they don't have to deal with people?  Actually you have to deal with both animals and their owners here.  Pets are part of the family and you need to be able to comfort the owners when the pet is hurt.  Still, the jury is still out here for me.  I may still check out the other avian vet in the area. Beware of this place. We had a mini-dachshund that had a bleeding ulcer. Test after test after test they were still not sure what was wrong with this young 7 year old dog. Ultimately after about $3400 worth of tests they wanted to operate to see if there was something that they were missing. How much? Another $5000. Unfortunately he had already lost too much blood, so surgery was definitely too risky and they knew that. We would up bringing our pup to another vet for a second opinion and the fix was not as invasive or expensive as CVS. Please bring your animal somewhere else! They will make you go broke and play on your feelings. Very sad that there are people out there taking advantage of per owners. To add to this, we have had other friends and family members that have had similar experiences. So yourself and you pet a favor and don't go to these "specialists". Read Less

Super qualified professionals who clearly "Get It" when it comes to diagnosing your pet's needs without the pressure of feeling like you are being taken to the cleaners as far as your wallet is concerned.  It isn't cheap but what vet is these days? This would be the first place I would return to in a pet emergency. I brought my dog to Dr Arnold for a initial exam for a torn CCL and to ensure he was ready for surgery. During the visit, Dr. Arnold agreed that it was a torn CCL and then we discussed which surgery to do. We agreed on a surgery and set a date for 3 days after the initial exam. I dropped my dog off at the hospital for his surgery and received a phone call about an hour later from Dr. Arnold. Basically, my dog has an infection and he recommended waiting to do the surgery until the infection was gone. I agreed with him but then was shocked with a $400 vet bill when I picked him up. I felt cheated because I thought the infection should have been something discovered in the initial exam to say he was ready for his surgery. I felt like I should get refunded the money which was only $132 after I was going to spend $3500 total. There reasoning was that it was only a consultation so the doctor didn't really put his hands on him to check him out. My argument to that is that if it is the first time you have ever seen a dog wouldn't you want to check him out thoroughly to make sure there will not be any complications during the surgery. They did agree to refund $40 of the $132 that I felt that they owed me. I have total confidence in Dr Arnold but will not use their services again due to the way they conduct business. There are plenty of great vets around that due surgery. Try somebody else. Read Less

Will never come here again!My cat has cancer and was experiencing some new symptoms that needed possible ultrasounds. We came to this CVS location because it was after hours and the CVS I usually go to in Matthews wasn't going to have the ultrasound tech as soon as needed, so we drove 30 minutes in the opposite direction to this location in Huntersville.When we walked in around 10PM on a Friday, the place was packed to the brim. All the exam rooms were full and there were about 10 people in the lobby. Okay, so maybe that night we just had bad luck?No. Our greeting at the front desk was awful. The secretary didn't even make eye contact with us and acted like we were inconveniencing her. She was appalling and rude. We were told we would have to wait at least an hour because they were overly busy, which we understood. After a couple hours, we asked if we could just check our sick kitty into the ICU for the night and leave because we knew she needed overnight supervision.  Well, the secretary didn't even come relay the NO response to us.Luckily, not all of the staff were as dreadful as the secretary. But we ended up waiting over 5 hours (until 3:30AM), only to be told that they were admitting her into the ICU overnight and running tests (exactly as we requested before). I know the protocol was to have the doctor chat a moment in person before we left, but we felt that common sense wasn't being put to use at this facility. Read Less

Very kind and caring staff. . . Our dog began limping a bit on Christmas eve and by Christmas day we were very concerned that she was not putting any weight on the sore front paw. I was worried that there would be some sort of additional "fee" charged bc of the holiday / but there was not. We were there for three hours and fifteen minutes (but we know that they were very busy with a lot of other more urgent cases than ours.) We waited about 45 mins for a vet tech to come weigh Lady and check her vitals. They we saw the vet at about the 1 hour and 45 minute mark. We agreed to allow the vet to sedate Lady so she could shave her front paw and really get a better look at what was going on / she came back at the two hour and 45 minute mark to say that she suspected an abscess, but after trying to drain fluid out she found the swollen part just swollen flesh and no real pus to drain.All told, we were there for 3 hours and 15 mins, but I believe that is quite out of the ordinary wait time as they probably had given the holiday off to as many staffers as they could. We were grateful that the staff that was there was very kind and considerate (even gave me a nickle to get a snack out of the machine b/c I was five cents short.) Read Less

They are very good in an emergrncy and the fees for emergency service actually did not make me think twice- quite a pleasant surprise. The staff was friendly and good w/our fearful pup. I highly recommend to friends in need of emergency care or more detailed testing (ie: CT scan.) So why only three stars? CVS is quite often the after hours emergency referral for all other local vets. When our dog had a swollen/itchy reaction to his annual shots I needed to know the correct dose of Benadryl for him. Mind you, we are previous clients. I had all the info re: that day's shots, weight, etc when I called. They would not tell me anything w/out a personal visit. I'm not driving 45 minutes and paying nearly $100 for you to tell me a dose my vet would normally give me over the phone. I said no thank you and called another vet who was more than happy to help. Fyi: dogs get 1mg of Benadryl per pound up to 3x/day (once every eight hours). Read Less
