The best care for the type of animals they care for! They are very knowledgeable about the animals that come in to their facility. the techs and front desk, absolutely amazing! We only have had guinea pigs and when we heard about them and started to take them here, they fell in love with our pigs! Loved to hold them and very fast with non critical visits! They really look for all the possibilities to keep your bill down and know what's best for your babies! Griffin exotics is hands down the best exotic vet around. I have 5 ferrets with 1 that is very sick and requires at least once a month visits and takes medications daily! They are always caring and truly love the animals they treat. My son wants to be a vet and did his senior project on them and they were excellent mentors to him! He loved the experience. I dont know if I can adequately express how kind and caring the office staff and doctor was when our pet rabbit Sebastian became ill. They worked us in immediately and did not rush us. They did not make us feel silly for loving a rabbit. I truly wish they treated dogs. Unfortunately he was beyond medical care and the card they sent was not stamped. It was hand signed and personal. My visit to Dr. Griffin's office was my first visit ever to any veterinarian of any kind...as prior to having my pet parrot now I never had a pet. I found out about Dr. Griffin's office on my own by doing some searching on the internet; I wanted to visit a doctor that specializes in birds as opposed to a Veterinarian office which specializes in dogs/cats primarily and then advertise that they also see "other" animals. Firstly, Dr. Griffin's office's decorum and ambiance was warm and inviting. Secondly, the very first greeting and welcome from a staff member upon my arrival was equally warm. This is important. Upon seeing Dr. Griffin he was warm and amicable. For any pet owner and for the pet itself... We travel from Greensboro to Kannapolis to bring our bunny to Dr. Griffin, Dr. Edgerton and the Griffin Exotics staff. They have cared for all of our rabbits including our little old man a Polish who lived almost 12 and 1/2 years before he was too tired and feeble to continue on. Our current doe, who we adopted was a rabbit whose life was saved against all odds by Dr. Griffin. For us there is no better choice than to make the trip. We love Griffin Exotics. Read Less

Never been here yet but i did have the honor to meet them at repticon in charotte and i must say they are some amazing people!!! They are all so very friendly and had allot of free sample stuff and told everyone that if they seen anything that would help them to take it and thats amazing i talked to them for quite awhile about my sugar gliders and hedgehogs!!! I got my finch a toy and some bird treats and few other things and also was lucky enough to get one of the zilla tanks that my snakes is going to LOVE!! I have not personally been here but my daughter woke up to a very sick bunny this week. This veterinarian was recommended to her and when she called they told her to be safe but get him there. My daughter just turned 18 and has always had me to lean on in emergencies but I was unable to go with her. Griffin Exotics were the most caring and compassionate people I think that she could have came in contact with. I am so thankful to the doctors and staff here for being with her through having to euthanize her furry baby--my heart was breaking not being able to be with her but I will be forever grateful to them for the way they treated her. I lost a rabbit because I didn't take him to an exotics. While searching for an exotics vet Griffin was highly recommended to me. He did my Scooby's necropsy after he passed and helped us learn that he died due to complications with the neuter he had just recieved. We now take our new rabbit, Luna, there because he is the best. His care is expensive but as far as we are concerned the money is worth keeping our new baby alive! Read Less

Dr.G is NOT all about money. He cuts costs to make care affordable! If an animal dies under anesthesia doesn't make the vet bad .Anesthesia is a risk in itself. If the animal has any undetected problems this makes anesthesia even more of a risk. As for emergency hours, this vet has met me after hours at midnight when I would have to bring my pets in during an emergency and he never even made me pay that night! Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had the misfortune that has set our funds into total depletion.I still owe alot of money and I am embarrassed that I have not sent him any money in over a year and not ONE TIME have they called and hounded me nor have they sent me to collection. Because he cares!If he was all about money I would have been sent to collection and had been forced to pay. I am going to be getting disability and the first person that will get a check is Griffin exotics. I have no vet for my exotics I am too embarrassed to face him and let me tell you there is nobody out there that can compare.I know people that drive three hours for his services. Read Less

i've been to several ""exotic vets"" in town and no one even comes close! i've never been turned away and have been squeezed in any time i need. i have mutiple reptiles,and of all the vets i've seen, dr. griffin is the best. he really cares and knows his stuff when it comes to reptiles. in the time that i have been using griffin exotics, i have lost several animals but absolutely to no fault of dr. griffin.his staff is very kind, compassionate and actually gives a damn. i will never go anywhere else. just look at his website. he may not be as big as some of the others like petsmart or carolina veterinary specialists, but those places are general exotic vets and specialize in nothing.( in my opinion) and in response to the previous review that i read, dr griffin is not interested only in making money, he really cares. most people dont have the husbandry skills needed to care for exotic pets nor dot hey take the time to investigate these animals before purchasing them. no matter who you chose, do the research and know your animals habits and needs before you purchase. most important of all, always purchase from a reputable breeder and not some big name pet store. the differences will floor you! these animals are part of your family and when you need help, i recommend griffin avain & exotics. Although the staff and Vet. are friendly and the facility is very clean. Be aware of certain things. I do not consider the care that my rabbit received to be good. I took her there for over a year and she continued to have runny eyes until I stopped taking her there and caring for her eyes myself. She has been symptom free since.She was put under anthsesia one time to have her teeth trimmed, it took her over 5 days to recover from being put to sleep for the procedure, at which time we were afraid we might loose her. (she is young and strong), during that visit a front tooth was broken length wise from the root and NEVER grew back. I cannot say that I had problems there with my parrot. But he only had a physical. It was evident that he did not like the place, as he would not talk while there, but talks at all other vets. During this time, the Vet. had a rabbit in his clinic that was""dropped"" off, he kept it for a short while and when I inquired about the bunny later, I found out that he had put it under antithesia and it died as a result. (he has no pets of his own, which makes me wonder) His hours of operation are the same as working people 8:30-5 M-F so it is immpossible to take your pet there without taking a day of vacation in order to do so. He has no emergency hours, and the closest one is in Huntersville, where that Avian vet. is also hard to find available if not during normal working hours. The Vet. is very concerned with making money, and continually complains about his working hours despite not working a 40 hour week, they only work a half day on Wed. Do not buy the parrot DVD, it is useless and contains wrong information.Be aware he cleans heavily with bleach products which are not good for most exotics. On the plus side his assistant April is excellent!!! Dr. Griffin is a nice guy, but not my first choice for the care of my beloved pets. Read Less
