I don't think I can recommend this place enough. I do independent dog rescues and have been taking mine and my foster dogs here for 5 years now. They know my dogs and know my voice when I call to make an appointment. They treat every dog I take in incredibly well, to the point that one of mine gets so excited to go see them that he has escaped my car when I opened my door just to run straight to the front door and whine to be let in. They go over every option with you to choose the right course of action for you and your dog; they don't try to push unnecessary procedures or add-ons on you to raise your bill, and their prices are the most reasonable I've found in Wake County. They haven't made a single choice or diagnosis in those 5 years that I have felt was wrong or not in my pups best interest. Dr. Urtel and Dr. Preston are both incredibly smart, compassionate veterinarians, and their techs and desk help are all the same. They've been happy to answer any and all questions or concerns I've had, even silly ones. I will never go anywhere else as long as I live in the area. And to think I found them on a whim because they were the closest to where I lived at the time for a simple broken toe nail. Finding them was the best luck I've ever had for my pups and me. Knightdale Animal Hospital is AMAZING! We recently relocated to the area and had to take our cat in for a sick visit. They worked us in the same day and they were so good to our baby. I will forever be grateful for a TEAM of accommodating, caring, supportive staff. When I moved quite a distance away from my "babies" former veterinarian I knew I had to find another before their annual check up. As life would happen, I noticed my oldest baby had a lump growing externally so I took him to Knightdale Animal Hospital (after researching, looking at reviews and asking around). I was pleased from the moment I walked in to a clean, beautiful and calming atmosphere--same day service! After getting the lump biopsied, the doctor and nurse came and explained everything, gave me options and hope...after I stopped crying. My Dane had surgery the next week and today he's on the road to recovery, full of strength, happy AND with a new support staff of caring, upfront and honest individuals = FAMILY! Read Less

I typically had ok service with the staff; my biggest issue was the cost. They are more expensive than most vets, and they try to pressure you into committing to high priced "necessary" tests and x-rays. If your pet is sick, you're already in a vulnerable state of mind and I think they take advantage of that. I had to make the decision to transfer to a new vet because the costs were astronomical and I don't like to be made to feel like I'm a bad parent to my fur baby if I can't afford thousands of dollars for treatment. Has been a great vet for several years but things have changed over the past year or so. Suddenly, they talk like they have a corporate owner, wanting to enforce their policies that cost you more money and give unnecessary or overly priced treatments. Took our dogs in for teeth cleanings, advised an hour before pick up that teeth cleaning qualified as boarding so they needed to have bordatella, we declined, they said they would check into it, did not call back, and administered without our approval, again, an hour before pick up. Both dogs got sick, one got loose stool and blood in her stool after their treatment and the other stopped eating and has been vomiting. They took the charge off our bill but we are looking for a new vet in Knightdale that is not owned by a corporation. When we started with KAH, they had an understanding of establishing the expectations for vet care, now it is the most expensive route possible without discussion of options...from things like ear infections, to mites, to any small service that should cost around $12 or so, you're going to be paying $75 and up. If you like a boutique vet experience, this is the place for you. I liked the down home country vet that this place used to be when we moved to Knightdale in 2007.Read Less

We have been taking our pets to this vet for several years. From the folks to the front desk to the doctors, and everyone in between, we have always felt our pets have been in the best hands. They're always very honest, trustworthy, and patient. I've even referred a co-worker and she also speaks very highly of the staff at this office. I agree with the previous post. This vet has horrible customer service. One woman in particular at the front desk makes you feel like she is the all knowing queen bee when it comes to what you should do about your pet. She is very rude and made EVERY visit unpleasant; I complained but felt like she had tenure there or something because they did nothing. After a year, I had enough of this treatment and transferred vets. I am VERY happy with Smithfield Vet in Knightdale. The staff is friendly and the doctor there is more like a real person. I am happy I don't have to see the crotchety old woman anymore.Read Less

First visit was a success! My dog gets very nervous and scared with vets and can become pretty aggressive when strangers come around poking and prodding him. Past vets have made me feel bad about him doing this but Dr. MacCormac and staff were very understanding of his reactions and tried their hardest to calm him down and get him relaxed.
