My 1st visit was very good.  I will say the facility is clean and the techs are nice.  Sadly my calls regarding follow up care and concerns were ignored for many days while my dog became progressively worse. When my call was returned days later,all I got were grade school excuses for the lapse and zero compassion or acknowledgement for dogs condition.  I have changed my recommendations of this clinic to my friends and will seek vet care else where. We needed a Vet late at night and are new to NC. We found Wake and they took care of our suddenly I'll 10-1/2 month old Shih Tzu as if he was their own. No rushing, lots of listening and qualified excellent care. The prices are fair and we couldn't be more grateful. He had to spend the night for observation and fortunately they don't capitalize on that opportunity to hike up the prices. He's good as new now and we didn't worry for one second leaving him for the night in the care of Wake. Wake is very, very clean and there's absolutely no scent of a typical vet. The reception/lobby area is warm and inviting too. Fortunately we've found a vet for both of our Shih Tzu's. Our daughter who has lived in Clayton for over 2 years is going to make the change for her dog as she knows we don't play around when it comes to quality services. We took our cat in, who despite their efforts, passed away. What saddened us was the fact that the admin person and NOT the actual vet brought our cat out. We didn't get the personal touch of compassion that you would expect. Next, our cat was crammed into the cardboard "coffin box". Her head was cranked at an awful angle. These people are great at communicating. Sometimes it's hard getting bounced around from doctor to doc but they really care and have knowledgeable doctors. The vet techs could be more careful with general pet handling, and giving wrong advice without double checking. They're a little more exspensive but if I ever have an emergency I would definitely trust their care. They took great care of my cat when he was struck with a mystery condition. He's still in treatment but they not only helped me with my budget but also my schedule. My favorite vet in the area. Read Less

Took our pit/boxer mix for an emergency visit after he cut his foot pretty bad. Dr. Shannon Ghniem was AMAZING! He addressed all of my concerns, and took excellent care of our baby. He even let us go back and be with him while he was sedated and watch him clean him up. It was by far the best experience I’ve ever had a vet’s office. The prices were extremely reasonable, and he explained exactly what everything would cost. The receptionist was also really nice and understanding, even though I was upset and worried for my dog. Dr. G has been our vet for 9 years now. Our dog, Tandi, is the love of my life and he's the only vet we've ever been comfortable taking her to. He docked her tail for us when she cut it badly, he has come into the hospital in the middle of the night when she had an upset tummy, and he's talked me through some really hard decisions while he's been at very important events. He's only a text message away from us at any given time and he's treated us like family. He's even seen Tandi walking around downtown with her dog walker and ran across the street to say hello.Recently, he made the shift out to Wake Veterinary Hospital and it is an absolute no-brainer that we are following him over there. He was the one to treat T as a puppy, and he'll be the one to help us with her end of life plans when that time comes. I will be a customer and loyal fan for as long as we have dogs in our home. We brought our dog in on a Sunday evening after she suffered a bad experience with another dog.  Everyone at Wake Veterinary Hospital was not only professional, but very concerned for her care.  They explained everything thing that would be done to help our dog.  Also, when we came to pick up our dog, everything was written down explaining what needed to be done for her recovery.  I would highly recommend Wake Veterinary Hospital they were wonderful to us and our little dog. My 4 month old puppy decided to destroy his incoming (human) sisters swing. He knawed at the wiring and ate pieces of copper wire. I was very concerned for his health. When we arrived at the hospital we were greeted by a friendly staff. We were not charged an arm and a leg for unnecessary procedures. My older of my two cats is like my baby. She and my younger kitten were still adjusting to each other and it seemed that her eye fell victim to a rough wrestling match. The next day her eye was swollen shut and her third eyelid covered a large portion of her eye. I was beside myself, so my husband and I rushed her up to Wake Veterinary Hospital prepared to pay a crazy weekend urgent vet visit fee. Molly isn't much of a cuddler with anyone but us, but she immediately nuzzled with the tech and we could hear everyone in the back making a fuss over how cute she was. They took GREAT care of her and didn't destroy our wallet! As a matter of fact, the after hours urgent care visit cost less than a well visit at our normal vet! We are so thankful for this vet! My cat had a urinary blockage on a Saturday night, so we brought him here because it was the closest place open. They estimated the cost would be 1000 - 1400 dollars, but we wanted to save our cat's life. We were told cats will typically stay there two days and be catheterized for that entire time. After about 15 hours, they called and told us we could come pick him up. When we picked him up, we had to pay an additional $200, and the girl couldn't even tell us where the extra charges were coming from. He was there for a total of 19 hours, probably only 15 or 16 of which he was catheterized. Not even 12 hours after he got home, he was blocked again. Luckily, this time it was during normal business hours, and we took him to Smithfield Road Vet, where they kept him for 3 full days and we paid 1/3 of what we paid at this place. The vet at Smithfield Road mentioned that cats will typically block very soon after being unblocked if they are not catheterized long enough. We were completely gypped by this place, and our cat was treated a million times better at Smithfield Road Vet. I would not recommend bringing your pets here. Read Less

We took our 14 year old Pom in on Saturday due to profuse rectal bleeding. The staff immediately took her back and began working on her and were able to get the bleeding under control. We were referred to a couple of other places that could possibly conduct the necessary procedures to address the root cause since they were not equipped to do these procedures. A couple of days later they called us and asked us how she was doing. They were very nice, and treated our pet with kindness and love. We were surprised when we got the call checking up on her and greatly appreciated it. They seemed very genuine in their love for animals. This is a great place to go. Read Less

My parents had been taking our dog here for years then stopped about 8 years ago. I now know for myself why. Wake Veterinary Hospital has become a careless, money hungry practice. I just recently got a lab puppy. I got her at 6 weeks and she is now 5 months. Every visit I have had, they've been horrible. They gave her shots without ever asking or telling me. They just charged me for them and when I questioned it told me it was done behind closed doors. Which I have never known a vet to do anything so shady. As well, some of these shots weren't even needed. I work at a pet boarding facility so I'm not clueless on these immunizations. They kept giving my dog shots she didn't even need just so they could make more money off of me. They've also never given me an option on heart worm or flea prevention, they just charge me for whichever one they want to give. Which I've found out now that I've gone elsewhere, should've never been the case. They also have horrible customer service. I called to get a quote on my dogs hernia repair surgery. I was told $300 then once I spoke with other vets about the same thing they clued me in on the need for blood work, medication, etc. I therefore went to Wake Vet in person to ask if the quote I was given included that or not. They sent me away due to pure laziness. I waited a week before I ever got an answer which was a new quote for about $500 adding in the medication and operations needed. I wasn't surprised. They were going to throw those charges on me last minute like always. I've had many friends that were loyal customers that have had these same type of issues and many of their own complaints. We have been doing to Wake Vet since we moved to Knightdale, almost 3 years now. Choosing a vet is a difficult task as there are always so many mixed reviews online, but I have never once doubted my decision. I absolutely love this place. My doggie is my baby and they take such good care of her that I feel reassured we are in good hands. She is always nervous coming in but they are so friendly and gentle with her no matter why we are there. We use their regularly veterinary services twice a year for our routine check ups and have never had a problem. Dr. Kahdy always recognizes our pup and calls her by name when she sees her. They are always willing to talk through things with us so we understand the care we are getting. Unfortunately we have had to use the Urgent Care that is there after hours more times than I would like. But despite the circumstances they are very responsive, reassuring, and will quickly help you through any situation. I am so thankful we have this option at the Vet office we are used to! Also I have used their boarding facilities and had a great experience. I hate having to board our pup and always bring her along when I can. Last year over the holidays I had no choice and was panicked. I looked into all the nice pet resorts in the area but they were so expensive and I didn't feel like she was going to get the attention at such a large place. I was worried about going to the vet for boarding as I assumed they would have small kennels but the staff invited me back for a tour of the boarding facilities and I was impressed. Because there weren't as many kennels as the larger pet resorts, I knew she would get more attention and their walk policy was more times a day than any place I called around to. Not only that but they have the urgent care staff there all night who will do check ins and they don't charge any extra for special diets, foods. You can even bring your own bed and toys. Out of pure desperation I decided to use this place, I dropped the dogs off and okay I understand that you have to not only charge me for the boarding but you also have to charge me a doctors visit for each dog, plus shots, plus anything else you would like when you know someone is desperate, so I knew I was in over $300 just for a weekend of boarding. I get to this place and ask if I can pay before my dogs get back, you know so I am not getting dragged around by dogs while trying to pay, they insisted NO you cannot pay first even though I already approved their extra costs ahead of time, well they made me wait for my dogs to come out and sure enough, I get home where I can pay attention and they charged me twice. How much more cut and dry of a scam does this sound like? I talk to the "site manager" who insisted it was a computer glitch, yes a computer glitch that would have just stolen money from me if I didn't pay attention, wonder who else they get away with and they don't figure it out? Any why are my dogs eyes all red?? Unless it is a dire emergency, which it was in my case, find someone else to look after your dogs. Read Less

We called a ridiculous amount of times to check on him, and there was ALWAYS someone there to gladly take our calls and talk with us about everything! Had to bring my dog in for an infection in his genital area.  The staff was very nice, knowledgeable and quick but effective.  We got any questions answered and everything was clearly explained.  They gave us his medication and any other things we needed and we were on our way.  They even called a couple of days later to see how he was doing.  Very happy with the service and staff!! I have been taking my dogs and cats to Wake Vets for over 15 years. When the original owners sold the practice I was nervous. I decided to call Wake Vets yesterday because my dog was not feeling well and they gave me an appointment that same day. When I came in I notice the inside was freshly painted and decorated. I was greeted promptly and with a smile. I sat down and only waited a few minutes before I was called back. The tech was very nice and through. She wrote down the symptoms my dog was experiencing and said the doctor would be in shortly and she was. Dr. Stout came in and checked my dog very thoroughly and did not try to push any un-needed tests. She was very kind and patient to both my dog and myself. I am so glad I took a chance and came back to Wake Veterinary Hospital. The change has been good and I will not hesitate to make an appointment whenever my dogs to go for a check up or for an illness. I was a bit disappointed with my experience at Wake Vet today. Wake Vet came highly recommended from a friend who takes her 2 dogs here. I took my dog this morning for a 2nd opinion about his limping issues over the past several months. Scheduling an appointment was very easy; however, the staff at the front desk was not overly friendly. In fact, neither was the vet tech. I was relieved at the end of the appointment when nobody took my dog out of my sight. The 8 minute visit today cost me $50. This included walking into the facility, getting my dogs weight and temperature taken, the vet tech asking a series of random questions, the vet feeling my dog's knee and watching him walk down the hall. Xrays were recommended for another $250 dollars which I politely declined. The extent of the physical exam was approximately 30 seconds. When your pet is your child, you expect a bit more service for the price you pay. I will not be taking my dog back. Read Less

We felt very confident in the doctors knowledge, and would allow them to work on our animals at anytime (which are like my kids). Please do not go to this hospital! I have been there a twice but I will NEVER go again and plan to tell everyone I know how bad this place is. While I was sitting in the lobby I heard a lady in the office speaking loudly and rudely to an employee. When I asked the receptionist what was going on she said that's our office manager handling an issue with an employee. That was so unprofessional and no one should be talked to like that. Then, the man who took me back jerked my dog onto the weight scale and was short and rude to me. The exam the vet gave was horrible. All he did was look at my dogs eyes, pretended to listen to her heart, which I know he couldn't have because he was talking the entire time, and then tell me I needed to get her teeth cleaned. I left in tears. There's no way I would let them near my dog again, especially after reading the other person's experience with his dog dying during the dental. STAY AWAY!! Read Less

The office is very clean and the Vet we saw was so kind but the vet tech is not nice. I was not happy with the vet tech on our first visit but decided to give them a second chance. It was just as bad the second time. I was disappointed. The entire staff was friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and everyone I encountered there gave me the sense they really cared about me and my dog. I am new to the area and have been shopping around for a vet. My shepard mix Simba is my baby and I am very particular about his medical care. I went to two other vets in the area both of whom with which I was semi-satisfied. Wake Vet was the nicest veterinary hospital I have ever been in. It was so clean and bright and the staff was not to busy to smile and greet a new customer. There are many vets there but I had requested Dr. Kahdy who is one of the owners. He was so warm and best of all did not seem to be in a hurry to see me out the door. He was great with Simba who is very timid around new people. He even took me on a tour of the clinic.
