I'm not one to post reviews but in this case I feel compelled to let people know how amazing the staff was when my puppy cut his leg! After calling two other vets in the Lewisville/Clemmons area with less than positive vibes for their concern to help my son (one wouldn't even entertain helping me and said I needed to go straight to the emergency vet without seeing his injury???), the friendly and extremely helpful/reassuring voice of Angela offered their assistance WITHOUT hesitation even though I was NOT a current client. When we arrived, EVERYONE was extremely kind and immediately started tending to my boy's injury, which required surgery to suture the wound. I am very grateful for their compassion and willingness to take care of and to mend my pup! Dr. Eads and his staff took care of my Yorkie, Hercules, for 4 days. It was a grim outlook and we didn't think he would make it but with their diligent and professional care, he beat the odds and made it. Without them, my sweet pup wouldn't be here today. Dr. Eads was upfront and honest and kept us up to date on everything he was doing and treating Hercules with. I was recommend by my friend who is a vet tech, she said they are great with cats and that's what I was looking for. I switched over to Shallowford Animal Hospital a few months ago when Dr. Eads bought the practice, and I am so glad I made that decision. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. Dr. Eads is wonderful with my collie. You can tell he honestly cares about not only the animals, but also the client. He does whatever he can and gives his honest opinion. Recently i had to make a tough decision and put my cat to sleep. it was so easy to make an appointment. They brought me right back and were very sweet. You could tell Dr. Eads and staff really cared and made the appointment, although very sad, go smoothly. Dr. Hermann cared for our cat, who lived to 19 with her help, and now cares for my best friend, my dog Radar. We call Dr. Hermann "the James Herriot of Lewisville" because she is so kind, gentle and focused. The entire staff, especially Amy, have been wonderful. Melissa always asks about my mother even when it's been months between visits for meds and services. It's these little things, plus the quality care, that make Shallowford our favorite for vet care. Moved to Lewisville in March, me an my wife was pleased with them, but the woman that answer the phone seems to have a attitude problem, wife called to say we like 2 minutes out, just cause we was going to be 3 minutes late, she trying to say we probably need to reschedule, but the kicker we get there, no one there, I sat like 30 minutes while are cat was looked at, an still never had anyone come in. Dr. Herman took it upon herself to fix the sutures, prescribe the appropriate antibiotics and topical ointment and board our dog for the entire day, completely free of charge to us because we had been loyal customers of theirs. My wife and I will be lifetime patrons of Shallowford Animal Hospital, not just because of this exceptional level of care they have shown us, but rather because this is exactly the kind of care they show ALL of their customers. Dr. Hermann and her very fine staff have been like family to us throughout the years. Our flat-coated retriever LOVED going to the vet. She knew that she was loved and cared for there. Dr. Herman is absolutely the best. She and her great staff have cared for three of my dogs and two of my cats. Over the years we've shared the joy of healthy animals, a rescue and return to health of one of my dogs and the merciful and compassionate chore of sending several to a better place when the time came. Dr. Herman has taken care of all of our animals (three dogs and two cats). There is no one I would TRUST more. From providing free care to a dog we rescued, to the compassion she and her staff demonstrate every day, to the rapport, empathy and connection she has with animals (and their owners) there is no veterinarian like Dr. Herman. I take great exception to a comment about their fees in one of these reviews. I have found their fees to be very reasonable and not at all excessive. Plus when you consider the quality of care, responsiveness of staff and the genuine caring Dr. Herman provides, they, in my opinion, should be charging a lot more. Personally, when we had to put our rescue dog to sleep, Dr. Herman and her staff came to our home to make it easier for the dog. As we all kneeled beside my dog to put him to sleep, there were tears in all of our eyes. Taking care of animals is not just a profession with Dr. Herman, it's a life's calling. She's the best. We took a sick cat to be examed.  Dr. Hermann was NOT there.  We saw the new vet.  This cat, the wandering stray "neighborhood" cat, had a broken jaw or possibly a dislocated jaw from being hit.  The vet said she wouldn't charge us the office visit if we immediately took the cat to a specialist.  The surgery would roughly be at least $1000+ ..... We don't have that kind of money laying around for the "neighborhood" cat!  She said we were making excuses.  This cat could be "fixed" and she refused to euthanize him.  The cat cannot eat or drink and is suffering, but she REFUSED to help us help him.  It was either $1000+ or nothing. This is not the first time I have heard that this vet will not euthanize animals.  If your pet is sick and euthanasia comes to mind, don't go here.  They won't help. Read Less

So we've spent over $1k here in less than 3 months for my 2 dogs... Dental work, infected paws, ear infections, spider bites, you name it. They know the girls by name (they should after all these visits!) and are super friendly every time. We are always sent home with preventative measures on how to help for future cases as well, and are educated on vacs and medicines that might not pertain to their individual situation. (bordatella shot, for example)  They all go above and beyond to ensure our visits are a learning experience for us! Love these people!!! Read Less

The two vets here are very nice, kind, and treat animals well. However, in my experience, they tend to order unnecessary tests and charge MUCH more for shots/treatments than the same service at other veterinary hospitals. Their obvious greed is why I won't be returning. Read Less

Dr. Hermann and her staff are stellar examples of what a veterinarian's office should be.  We have an older dog that has a torn acl and cushings disease and Dr. Hermann always makes the visit less stressful by her gentle, attentive, and calming presence.  We also have a very agressive dog that has to be muzzled for his trips to the vet, but even with him, Dr. hermann and the staff always take their time with him and try to make each visit as calming and stress-free as possible. Dr. Hermann is amazing!  She is the most caring, calm, and thorough vet I have ever visited.  I have lived in New York City for years and still make a point to schedule my dog's annual check ups with her when I come home to visit family.  Our little poodle has also had a couple of emergencies and health issues that needed attention in NYC but each time I have consulted with her via fax and phone to make sure she agreed with the NYC vet's course of treatment. She always makes herself available for these consultations and she has always steered me in the right direction.  Her knowledge is amazing and the genuine concern for the animals she treats (and their nervous parents) is wonderful. My doggie has been in their care for about 2 yrs now. Dr. Herman is GREAT--calm, caring, gentle, informative, and you can ask her anything! All the staff is very friendly and helpful, except one. The nicest vet I have ever met is Dr. Margaret Hermann. She is always attentive and the visits are never rushed. She takes her time with each animal and become the animal's friend before the tender places get poked.Several years ago, our cat had a heart attack. Typically cats never recover from heart attacks because it kills them almost instantly. We got out cat to her in time. In those days, there was no treatment plan for post cardiac event domestic cats, so she put her vet skills to work and the cat made a full recover.It turns out the cat with the heart attack is allergic to all the vaccines she was required to take.If you visit this vet, tell her HardCore Hobie says, "hi."
