This is a fantastic animal clinic. The front desk support staff are courteous and sweet to our pup, Max and cat, Kiki. All the technicians we have encountered have been exceedingly nice and helpful. Dr. Reed is patient and takes his time to make sure our fur-balls are doing well and to answer any questions we have. We don't feel like just another number here. Oddly enough, my biggest endorsement stems from a miscommunication I had with one of the veterinarians. Long story short, my wife took our pup in and was told something different than what I had understood from the previous visit. Of course, I immediately called to try and understand what had happened and why. The front desk tried to help, and then put me on the phone with the tech who had just been in the room with them. Best veterinarian care around.  Dr Reed has taken such good care of my 14 year old dog and help us determine the best medical care options for her when she started having seizures.  I have since moved away from Matthews but refuse to take her anywhere else.   I highly recommend this veterinary clinic. I'm not too sure what it is, but it appears veterinarian offices are popping up on every corner these days.  I got my new girl from the Rowan County shelter last week and she needed a check up badly.  After seeing the reviews for Plantation Animal  Clinic I decided to reach out to them.  You know a good place when you contact them (via Yelp by the way) and they respond.  THEY RESPONDED FOLKS!!!  I knew right then I was going to check them out for my puppy's check up.I called them and the sweetest southern lady took all my information and set my puppy up with a check up appointment the next day.  The complaint I have (which they cannot help) is the parking lot is too small.  It was jammed packed with cars.  I came early (because I always do) and luckily someone was pulling out.My puppy was greeted by that sweet southern lady...and everyone was thoughtful.  The vet tech was very friendly (I wish I got her name) and never did she push unnecessary vaccines or procedures on me.  Nothing worse than be guilted into something.Dr. Ryan was the nicest lady.  She pointed things out, explained everything that was being done and even gave me some resources to take my puppy to some puppy training.  I cannot say enough nice things about them.  I am making them my home vet. What a truly compassionate and caring place!! I brought my sick dog in, who turned out to be much sicker than we knew, and Dr. Sullivan calmly explained what was going on and educated us about his condition, and that Murphy needed to go to the hospital asap. That day, and for the next few days, Dr. Sullivan went above and beyond by calling to see how Murphy was doing!! Each of the staff members we have interacted with have been nothing short of professional, caring, and always pleasant. Went here for the first time today and was very happy with everything. The receptionist was very friendly and got me in the exam room quickly. The technician was really sweet and listened well to what I wanted for my dog. Normally my dog is very fractious at the vet and has to be muzzled and sedated, but not today! The staff was so patient and friendly with her that they were able to get blood for a heartworm test and cut her nails with no issues! The vet was able to check her ears and teeth without a muzzle or any restraint. I am so happy with how the visit went and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet in the area! All of the doctors and nurses here are amazing with both my crazy energetic Border Collie and my not so sweet male cat. Whenever I go there the doctors spend time with my animals and not only give great advice on animal care, but also are very knowledgeable about the surrounding area for dog parks, trainers etc. I have also boarded my Collie  there a few times and he always seems to be happy when I pick him up. We've lived in Matthews almost 10 years. After our favorite vet retired and sold her business, we asked around for options. We started frequenting a smaller office near us with 1 of our dogs - leaving our cat and other dog at the previous vet. This new vet wanted to perform surgery to remove fatty tumors. Up to that point, about a year, we were happy with the service. Then it went south. Let's just summarize as it was a negative customer experience.We called a friend who has been with Plantation for 6 years and loves them. We took a chance and called on a Thursday early afternoon. They were able to fit us in Thursday. After assessment they said not to remove the fat tumors but a cyst needed to be removed - something we had planned to do the following week with the old vet. They got us in Friday! Picked up our fur baby who seems pretty good so far. Here's the best part. The vet called us Saturday morning for his home to cocky on our fur baby. Now we have transferred All of our pets to Plantation Animal Clinic. This place cares for your pet, and for you. Read Less

My first visit to Plantation Animal clinic was due to an emergency need to put down our 13 yr old dog--his organs were just shutting down and it was time. I called around and had the most compassionate responses from Plantation as well as them being able to get us in the next morning--they took us walk in, but our wait was not too long. We sat in a comfortable room with a couch and a quilt/rug on the floor where I was able to spend some tender time with Daylin before saying goodbye. The vet was so compassionate and tender with both the dog and our family. It was a sad experience but one that was handled so well I determined to bring my other dogs here.Today was the first time I did that. My 6 month old Labradoodle got himself a staph infection. Lucky boy--he was insanely hyper and everyone from reception to the vet tech to the vet herself were all so great with him! I didn't feel rushed or pushed to make decisions. I felt the vet was thorough, friendly and very giving of her knowledge and her time. She took the time to listen to my concerns and help me understand what I needed to not just about my puppys infection but also his upcoming neuter AND she gave me referrals to trainers she trusts since I mentioned I was struggling with that. I felt she went above and beyond--taking care of us as a professional and a friend, which for my fur babies is exactly what I want, and in my experience a rare thing to find. We will be back. Love love love this place!!!! The staff is wonderful.... Especially Dr. Murphy!!! The first time we came in he made my dog feel so comfortable! They all make you feel welcome and are super sweet and knowledgeable!!! We just boarded our dog for the first time this week ... And they were amazing!!!! I picked Tanner up and he had a blast. He was only there for 2 nights and they gave him a bath and put an adorable bandana around his neck. He looked so handsome when I picked him up! And seemed super happy. Recently I encountered the need to seek prompt medical assistance for my dog and was unable to visit his regular vet due to hazardous road conditions. I had the great fortune to be able to visit Dr. Murphy and Susan at PAC. On a day when they may have wished to close their office early, they agreed to allow me to bring my dog to them. Dr. Murphy promptly reviewed the issue at hand, and without hesitation, offered the remedy that I had expected. Their willingness to assist us in our time of grief and need allowed my pet to pass on without further suffering and with the dignity that I had sought when I made my initial contact with them. While the pain of losing a good friend may linger for some time to come, it brings us great comfort knowing that we were cared for by folks that displayed tremendous compassion and professionalism at a time when we needed it the most. My dog and 2 cats have received wonderful care here for 11 years. The staff truly love animals and always take a measured approach to any treatments. I originally reviewed Plantation in August 2014, right after I brought home my family's newest addition, Gucci, the energy-filled, Great Dane puppy. I was recently told that, with their new location, Yelp has insisted that Plantation start from scratch with their reviews. This makes no sense as they are the same Vet as before just in a different building. So, I felt I needed to repost my original review and add an update. Here is the original review:"Can't say enough about the wonderful staff at Plantation. Convenient, prompt, friendly, loving to your pet, and real people looking out for you...not your wallet."Since then, I have returned for periodic checks, flea guarding, microchipping, and boarding. The new location is further away from me, but is very convenient and much nicer. But those are just superficial items. The MOST important thing to me for my dog - my other "child" - is the care, professionalism, and compassion the staff provide. This they have in spades!  They are incredibly patient (even with a high-energy, powerful puppy and some rambunctious children in tow), eager to explain any issues and what options are available, and treat me like a friend, not a "customer."I would not hesitate to recommend these professionals to anyone. I, and my family, have been bringing all of our babies here for YEARS (12+).  I would not trust anyone with my kids other than Plantation animal hospital.  Boomer, the family Shih Tzu, was basically snatched from the jaws of death by Dr. Murphy when another animal clinic in Matthews misdiagnosed him. When his time finally came years later (years that Dr. Murphy added to his life), Dr. Murphy was wonderful, kind and compassionate to my family and went above and beyond what anyone could anticipate. Gracie, my calico cat, has been going to Plantation since she was a kitten,11 years ago. Dr. Murphy took care of her as if she were his own pet, taking the time to comfort a scared kitten and talk to her before examining her.  In her later years, she developed some issues and Dr. Reed took the time to explain options and costs to me, do tests to pinpoint the causes and treat her so that now she acts like a kitten again instead of a mean old lady that pees everywhere.Daisy, my cross-eyed ginger rescue cat, has been seeing Dr. Reed for 2+ years.  She recently had her yearly check-up and, as always, Dr. Reed took the time to comfort her and love on her until she was cuddling with him like she does me, even though he had to pick and poke at her.  A poor little stray cat, who had obviously been a much loved pet at sometime, showed up on my patio looking underweight and pitiful.  I brought the sweetie to Plantation to have him checked out in the hopes of getting him re-homed.  Paula, at the front desk, is the BEST (and has been for all of the years that my family and I have been taking our fur-babies to Plantation)!  Super kind and efficient and makes you feel immediately like your "child" is going to be very well taken care of.  I made 3 visits for this guy and the vet techs were amazing.  When they take your pet to the testing/weighing/poking area, you can hear them talking to and comforting the animal.  Dr. Reed thoroughly examined the little guy, did tests and then later called and discussed options and possibilities (along with costs) associated with caring for him once his blood work was done (which was the very next morning, first thing).  He spent quite a while on the phone with me, answering my questions and listening to me sniffle.  Their new space is awesome and clean and doesn't smell 'pett-y'.  I find their prices to be inline and fair (maybe even slightly less) with what friends share with me about their vet costs at other places.  They do laser surgery as well as dental work.  They also take CareCredit, which is a huge benefit to folks like me (on a budget) who are trying to keep their pets healthy.Everyone from the reception desk, to the vet techs to the veterinarians are friendly and professional - Plantation Animal Hospital is the BEST!!! Stay away from this place!!! They care more about $$$ than pets!!! Brought my 5yr old kitty there for surgery for multiple tumor removals around her mammory glands and upon dropping her off for surgery they stated she's required to have all vaccinations up to date. That would b fine and understandable IF she were a HEALTHY pet!!! And they also were requiring her to have a leukemia shot and she is a indoor only kitty she has never been outside! The receptionist was very rude and wouldn't even let me speak to the dr regarding this matter myself so I left! But y would u vaccinate an animal w cancer!!???and on the morning of her surgery!?? I am very disappointed in this place! I will never bring my pets here again bc it's obvious what they care about! Read Less

Always hard to move to a new area and find new doctors including for my fur-babies. We just picked up my three dogs that had to be boarded for over a week and we couldn't be happier with their care. Besides the doctors getting on the floor with the dogs to get to know them and do most of the examination, receiving update emails from them during their stay this week that they were fine, and a phone call after teeth cleaning to let me know all she woke up and was doing great, I was so impressed with the compassion of the entire staff for the care of my trio. They took them outside at the same time in the exercise yard so they could be together and we received them all clean and beautiful! My Boxer, Lily, of 11 1/2 years was my better-half and now I know she was more to me than I could have ever imagined. She was sick and Dr. Reid and Amy helped me put her to sleep on Dec. 3 @ 4:30. What a comfort those two wonderful people were to Lily and me.. Tears ran down faces as if Lil was their puppy. Dr. Reid and Amy are a blessing and a tremendous credit to their profession. This is the most wonderful place to take your pets! I had to board my dog when going out of town. I am the first to say she is not always the easiest dog to take care. That being said I was so nervous about leaving her. The staff was second to none. My dog bonded with one technician and she took it upon herself to personally care for my dog. They gave me updates on her stay everyday and had no problem answering any questions I had. I still board my dog here every time I have to leave town and receive her veterinary care here.
