I would not recommend this vet clinic ever!! They work closely with Greater Charlotte SPCA. The problem is if you adopt from SPCA,  you are told to take the dog here for spay/neuter and heartworm treatment in order for the fee to be paid for by SPCA. The SPCA told me my dog had "mild heartworms" and had appointment set with Pressly. The dog had seizures and breathing issues. I took the dog in for the appointment, my first impression was the receptionist there is not friendly or helpful at all once she knew I was bringing in rescue dog w/SPCA. I thought that was very rude, as I could have been a future client for all she knew. Once I took my dog in and relayed she had breathing issues/seizures, they did a chest Xray and found she had an enlarged heart with bullets actually from the previous owner. They moved forward and did the heart worm injection as well as spaying her. They gave me a bottle of heart medication she would need to remain on and sent me on my way. No further instructions as to do I have my vet follow up with this dog? Do I keep her on this heart medicine? etc. Nothing just a get in and get out attitude w/her. I took the dog in to be checked out after another seizure and my own personal vet explained the dog had "high positive heartworms" she did not have a "mild" case of them and she would need further treatment. My vet also mentioned that Pressly should have taken into account her enlarged heart issue. 3 weeks later I had to put the dog down, as she went into heart failure. The problem with this clinic is when they get a rescue dog from SPCA they need to be looking at the individual dog's health not just running the dogs through a mill with spaying and heartworm treatment because they have a contract or agreement to offer free services to the SPCA. Another outside vet also told me this dog was a candidate for "slow kill heartworm treatment" that takes place over a year's time using medication because she had other health issues going on, that actually this heartworm treatment killed her. This vet told me she had done this process with many rescue dogs and was very successful. After this experience I will NEVER adopt from SPCA nor would I EVER take an animal to Pressly. Read Less

We brought our dog here when we moved to the area. Our first visit with Dr. Drake (just an annual well check with vaccinations) was "ok" but we stuck with them as they are very close to home. After our second annual well check, we received a call from Dr. Drake that our dog's labs showed significant kidney failure. We tried to discuss the possibility that there was a lab error as our dog seems completely healthy, in fact was deemed so by Dr. Drake at the time of her exam. This concern was completely blown off and Dr. Drake said we need to start a special diet, prescription meds, and he recommended an herb that we could purchase "on the side" from him, not as part of the office charge. We were so uncomfortable that we took our dog to a different office for a second opinion. Labs were run there and came back completely normal. Our dog is completely healthy. Obviously not going back to this practice. I wrote a letter to Dr. Pressly, who I understand is the practice owner, explaining what had happened and why we would not be returning. I never got any kind of response. I would recommend that anyone with a pet avoid this clinic. Read Less

The front desk staff is shockingly unprofessional and always in a foul mood, to the point where I feel like a burden when I come in. The techs in the back were impatient and aggressive towards my rescue dog when he was nervous about a nail clipping. They came out complaining about him amongst each other and turned to reprimand me for him being skiddish. I repeat he is a NEW RESCUE. Dr. Pressly was especially unprofessional to me AND to the techs at my family veterinarian when discussing the need for the dog’s vaccination history in order to care for his injury. I’m HORRIFIED. The Vets and Techs actually love pets! Dr Pressly comes out and greets our dog in the lobby or in the back, even if we are only there just for a quickie tech visit. I hear him in the back asking outloud "how is she? how's she walking on that leg, etc, etc.) Always on top of everything and the phones ALWAYS GET ANSWERED (3 cheers!) during business hours as well as every email getting answered and trust me, I have sent quite a few. I can't say enough about how helpful, supportive & responsive this place has been for our first and very trying year as pet owners! I did not realize they spay & neuter as well for a very reasonable price. We were with another Vet at the time and in the midst of looking for a new vet when I made the assumption all Vets will rake you for that procedure and without properly researching, we took her to a clinic (which was fine) but definitely would have used Pressly for it had asked!! So use them! Read Less

I would give zero stars if it was possible. Took my bulldog mastiff mix in with after a simple google search and another vet was an obvious yeast infection. Here's a list of disappointments:1. His main priority was to get me to submit my dog to $500 worth of allergy testing, the next vet diagnosed his problem in 30 seconds just by looking at him. 2. After declining the test he reluctantly prescribed an antibiotic but the dosage he recommended was barely enough for 40 lb dog, my dog is 65 lbs. 3. Also prescribed steroids but didn't recommended a dosage that would ween him off slowly, just 2 pills a day then cold turkey. 4 days later he was in worse shape than before with his neck bleeding, ear infections, and raw skin between his toes. 4. Our 20 lb terrier mix also went in with anxiety issues. Drug Pusher Pressly prescribed a freaking tranquilizer ( at about $50 of course) w/ a dosage for a dog twice his size. He took one pill and 20 minutes later he literally couldn't stand up, was hobbling around dazed, and bumping into the walls like he was drunk out of his mind. It was heart breaking. A simple Google search found us a herbal calming supplement that works like a charm for about $7 a month. This Pressly guy is nothing more than a lab testing and pharmaceutical salesman that does not care or does not have the ability to truly find out what is wrong with your pet. Read Less

Pressly Animal Hospital is a wonderful practice! I highly recommend them for anyone looking for excellent care of their pets. We have been using them for 4 years with multiple animals including 3 dogs, a cat and even a hamster. Both vets have approached our animals with experienced, realistic and compassionate care. Not only have they been great with normal, routine care but with more complex situations as well. Recently we brought a new dog into our family that had been abused by the previous owner and had a broken leg. Unfortunately it had been shattered and could not be saved. Pressly Animal Hospital has helped our new dog through her recovery and she is doing great! Their continued care and concern for our animals is clear. The staff has been awesome as well and bend over backwards to help. We also had to have our 15 year old lab put down in 2013 and our Max was treated with gentleness and compassion until the end. Finally it is so incredible to know that our vet works with the local SPCA and rescue groups giving their time and expertise to sick and abandoned animals. Thank you PAH!Read Less

Sorry to disagree with all the reviewers, but this office doesn't seem to have their act together. We adopted a rescue and used this vet for several weeks until shots and treatment were complete. Unfortunately we had to make extra visits because the staff neglected to administer shots or treatments that could/should have been managed on a prior visit. A phone call to inquire about some of our pet's medical records resulted in a 15 min hold (we finally had to hang up and call back) and a request for records to be faxed wound up with no receipt of the records.

Read Less

They have since seen our newly adopted kitten and today we were able to bring our other dog in after an accident at the house. They had us come in right away and were able to squeeze us in.

Ugh, this was really a tough few weeks with the Pressly staff. We will need to find a new vet. Read Less
