Purchased a voucher through the humane society to help out a dog we found on the street. He marks and we were hoping fixing him would prevent this so we could find him a forever home. My friend brought him and forgot the voucher the day of the appointment, but tried to provide a confirmation email as well as proof of payment, and then offered to bring the voucher to pick up. We even offered to fax the voucher over. She was denied. I understand policy is policy, but the staff behind the desk was rude to her and basically told her that without the voucher she needed to leave when I was about to bring the voucher to her. The wait here is horrible. They never see us at our appointment time. I'm always kept waiting well past the appointment time. They also always have problems with their appointment system. The time I'm told my appointment is when scheduling never matches the appointment time I'm given when they call/text/email the appointment reminder. I thought the whole staff was kind of cold. I left there feeling like I spent more than I should have. Then after giving my cat the medication they prescribed, she did not improve. I'm constantly frustrated coming here. The price I'm told online is never the price I'm charged at the end and is always much more expensive than I was told. My sweet 15 yr old cat needs to be euthanized and they charge $150. The other best in the area charge 29-40. My pets are like my Little babies and I will not leave them with just anyone. She was spayed this week and everyone was so friendly. Even the ones who weren't working on my baby. We have taken our pets here for years and they have always delivered consistently friendly and compassionate care. The process of euthanizing my dog was handled in a very caring way. Starting with the talk with Dr. Jordan weighing my options for treatment vs. Euthanasia then making the decision in the latter direction and then his walking me through the process gave me the support I needed. I felt he and his staff were not only wonderful with my dog, they were serving as grief counselors for me as well. The paw print in clay to remember her by as well as the card they sent me later were very thoughtful. The comments in the card were all heartfelt but I was particularly touched by their male vet techs comment because he had a fondness for my dog. He could calm her like no other person outside our family and she had serious anxiety issues. I've seen all three vets there and they are all great. Dr Jordan took incredible care of my sweet Bella during her 2 surgeries there. I felt as if he & the staff took care of her like she was one of their own. Her first surgery even though a success was complicated by something out of their control prompting for a second urgent surgery to remove her tail. They kept her for a few days to ensure the beginning of proper healing & monitoring of her health along with the remaining bit of her tail. Dr Jordan sent me text & video updates of my sweet girl while she was in their care. This eased my mind greatly as I was super anxious not having her home with me. They take great care of both of my dogs, I couldn't imagine them going anywhere else. The previous vets office I came from was not concerned at all for the welfare of my pet just that my credit card worked in their machine. So not the case with this group, they recommend only what is needed for the best possible care of your pet. The girls at the front desk are awesome also, they always follow up with me the next day or several days out. The techs are awesome too, there have been two that I have mainly dealt with who my dogs love. The one that had surgery recognizes one of the techs immediately by her voice & her tail starts wagging. I have been going to AHOM for many years and I love Dr. Jordan for he is so caring and understanding and will leave no stone unturned to find whatever problem you pet may have. He is very compassionate to your feelings, for he knows that our fur babies "are" our babies. They are family. I recently have had to go about 3 times for many tests for my little Yorkie Torri. We found out that she has a very enlarged heart, and cancer on major organs. Unfortunately the cancer is inoperable. She is doing good on her meds and I am praying for a long time with her but as age 13, I am just thankful for each day with her. All of the staff there are also very caring. I have not seen Dr. Doug as a patient, but I hear from others that he is a "super doc" also. I would recommend everyone to take their pet to AHOM. I won't go anywhere else. They know your pain and concern about your pet and do everything they can to help you and to do everything they can to give your pet a good quality of life. We have taken our pets here for years. Dr. Jordan is so compassionate with our dogs and treats them as his own. There is only one vet technician that can handle one of our dogs, Dwayne. He is so great with our difficult little dog! All of the people that work the front desk are very friendly and enjoy helping the clients! Fantastic for vet care and grooming; knowledgeable and friendly staff and doctors who truly care about your pets well-being. In reference to the one bad review on here...I have never experienced anything but top notch service as soon as I walk in the door. The lobby is always clean and there is never a smell. My dogs are on prescription diets (which I purchase there as they have the best price I've found) and they are groomed monthly as well as receive all their vet care there so I stop by the office a couple of times a month for various things and have never had any issues. We just moved in June and have taken our one yellow lab Cody there thus far. We had a good experience . Dr. was very nice and had previous records from surgeon who did TPLO surgery and vet who took care of him last year. I've taken my Cat to this Vet since it was 8weeks old and when it came time for spade surgery I went thru the Human Society for help with costs. My Cat was only given 2 stitches after surgery when the area was big enough for at least 4 stitches. Couple days after surgery she got an infection from the stitches possibly but unknown. I paid $31 for visit that day along with payment of antibiotic shot, antibiotics, and more pain meds costing me $74 dollars extra and they took the stitches out that day. a couple of days after that visit my cat got swelling in another area due to post surgery (while I had kept e collar on and follow every instruction by this Vet) and they wanted me to come back in to have a look at it. They told me it looked good and to wait a week to take the e-collar off...then I directly asked if I need to keep the initial recheck appt made at day of surgery which was 2 days after I already had taken her to get rechecked. The vet doctor told me to go ahead and keep appt. Today, they took my cat back in the office without asking me to come with them and they scrubbed her surgery area without my consent and tried to charge me for it and the visit ($18). The human Society said they shouldn't have done that. After a 30 minute debate conversation over the phone with the office manager in regards to the $18 charge they tried to have me pay. I had the wipes to scrub the area but I just took her to this vet 2 days ago so I hadn't scrubbed the area completely yet but I had wiped it clean away from past infected area. The office manager tried in every way possible to make this charge seem legit, when I really didn't need to take her back b/c I had just taken her 2 days ago for a re-check and the area was healing fine. The vet also wanted to make ANOTHER appt for next week so they can tell me to take the e-collar off which would cost me $18 more just for that. PLEASE PLEASE be aware that this vet will charge for everything possible that they can charge for. ALSO, the area was big enough for more than 2 stitches and possibly could have made this experience cheaper and better for my cat if they had put more stitches in. They had not communicated with me at all in regards to the payments they were going to charge me, NOR did they ask if they could do extra stuff that they tried to charge me for. After I explained that to the office manager, she responded that she wanted me to talk with the Tech I dealt with today because she didn't exactly know what was said. I was happy to talk to the tech b/c I was telling the office manager the Truth...and from a personal standpoint...I was completely offended by the Office Manager even saying that. I've had cats before I have NEVER been through this kind of experience, nor had my other cats had to go through it. Unfortunately they got me for all they could, financially wise. From what friends are now telling me today, there are better and cheaper vets in the area like Creekside...if anyone is looking for a vet in the Mebane area. I'm very disappointed and frustrated with this whole experience when I put my trust in a certain vet and had taken my cat their since she was 8 weeks old. :(I gave it 1 star because the vet Doctor Jordan was very nice and thru visits took time to explain certain things to me, however, it comes at a high cost so be warned. I have found that Dr. Jordan and his staff are very caring and very professional. Our dog Max has had two serious illnesses and every time we took him to Dr. Jordan. I can't tell you enough how compassionate, knowledgable, and capable this vetenarian is. He takes his time to explain all that is going on and encourages questions.His staff is also very caring and knowledgable. From the front desk person to the techs in the back, you know you are in the right place. I believe the Animal Hospital of Mebane is the best place for anything you need to have done to your pets.
