Creekside is a good place. The staff are friendly and some of them are very passionate and caring about pets.., I recently rescued a kitten and while I was happy about the visit with the vet and the staff taking care of him.. However, I wasn't content with how they handle follow ups. I returned the vet's call if I had any questions with a message. She called back and left another message. I tried again and I was told she was in surgery and would call back within an hour, and it didn't happen. I tried calling and asking if I could speak to ANY vet there about my questions regarding the kitten and the receptionist said they're busy. I don't know if there's some kind of miscommunication issue between the receptionists and vets. Read Less

The receptionist and the techs are very cordial, as one would expect. However, the vets themselves are extremely patronizing...the two I have dealt with seem to have been cut from the same cloth. I'm sure it was the sight of my tattoos (perhaps coupled with my very thick southern accent) that made them assume I would have no clue how to care for my dogs. Coming in for ambulatory care, I didn't expect to be peddled anesthesia-assisted dental cleanings, but that likely should've been my first clue. The suggestion to buy grain-based prescription food to "cure" a horribly seething systemic yeast infection should've been the second (of course, they carry said food). The third clue, being told that my dog's very swollen yeast-ridden ear could only be remedied with surgery. Of course, after the proper regimen of an appropriate antifungal, the ear is perfectly fine, sans surgery. But after all of this, I still called back to request a refill when my dog, while much better, still had a few hot spots after one month on ketoconazole. Instead of refilling the medicine, they made me bring the dog back in and do another expensive round of testing to "confirm" she had yeast. The vet, in all her infantilizing wisdom, attempted to explain to me that the original 30-day supply should've cured the yeast infection. If any of you have ever had any type of difficult-to-treat epithelial fungal infection, you know treatment may take as much as six months or more on an antifungal such as ketoconazole. I will never bring my pets to this money-hungry clinic again, and I have recommended against them numerous times. Read Less

UPDATE: After my review/complaint I received a telephone call and several emails from the owners of Creekside Animal Clinic notifying me that they took my review and my situation seriously. They profusely apologized for the whole ordeal and are in the process of rectifying it. I was told they had recently had staff development training and used my experience with them to assist in better training their staff. When a company takes the time to contact an unhappy customer and rectify the situation, you know they take their customers seriously and care. I have updated my review to reflect their customer service and care to fix the problem. ORIGINAL POST: My cat was an established patient of Creekside Animal Hospital. I called to get information about a surgery and specifically asked if there was a fee for the referral. I was told no there wasn't a fee for the referral so I didn't take my credit card with me to the appointment. I took the afternoon off from my job to take the cat in for the referral mind you. Once we arrived we were taken back for our appointment. Then before the vet came in for the referral the front desk personnel came back to tell us there was a charge for the referral and that my cat would need this and that shot before the vet would see him. I explained that I was told over the phone there wasn't charge for the referral and that I knew he had already had all of his required shots because we had just brought him in and had him neutered. I also explained that I didn't bring any money because I had specifically been told that there was NO CHARGE for the referral. The person checked with the vet and said I was given the wrong information over the phone. I said ok, how much is it for the referral. I've already taken ahalf day off from work to bring the cat in. She said it would be $28 for the referral. I went out to my car and dug around and found $25 in cash and asked if I could bring the additional $3 in later. Now mind you we were NOT new customers. Our cat had been seen here several times. She again checked with the vet and came back out and said the vet was using her time to see us and that we would need to have such and such done and the total was $109 and if we couldn't pay that today, we would need to come back another day. Are you serious? Not only was I told on the phone there was NO REFERRAL FEE, but was now being told the cat needed this and that and we would need to do that before we had a referral. My cat was just neutered in August and had his rabies, feline leukemia, checked for worms, distemper, bordatello, etc. we spent well over $250 at his first few appointments! I was extremely upset because I had taken time off work and not once did the vet even bother to come out and speak to us. She was relaying everything through the girl up front. I was upset and said, "We'll just take our business elsewhere!" The front desk girl rolled her eyes at me and we left. The first vet we saw was great, but this second vet whom never even bothered with was rude and condescending. I would NEVER recommend this vet to anyone. Evidently its ALL ABOUT THE DOLLAR with this office. Not to mention someone needs a lesson in customer service.Read Less

6/15/15 From my crotchety old cat, to fosters, to arthritic dogs, and my post-op babies, Dr. Swanner and his assistants have helped treat their pain and discomfort. He diagnoses the cause of the pain, treats it, and tweaks our home care plans to meet each critter's needs. Thinking outside the box is so very important for my hoard (hoarding horde) of animals, and Steve Swanner is better at it than most. Recently, my old cat who is tolerated by the household, and he, the prince, allows them in his castle, had a strange, prolonged episode of aggressive behavior we worked to diagnose the cause. Ensuring he wasn't painful or suffering from a cause of such unusual behavior, we did bloodwork, ultrasound by a radiologist, Xrays, and started some medication. Dr. Swanner pinpointed his source of discomfort, noted other symptoms a couple other docs had difficulty noting, and individualized our treatment plan at home. He also treated my younger dog, Eleanor, for some early onset osteoarthritis post-op. His acupuncture skill and handling is better than the other 2, longer certified and experienced, vets we've used for acupuncture. He teaches his staff calmly and positively how to handle patients for acupuncture, maximizing its efficacy and patient tolerance of the process. After 6 visits, we rarely need her NSAID anymore, and rely solely on supplements from Paws at the Corner and The Other End of the Leash, as well as Nutramax products, to keep her joints happy. I leave my pets in Creekside's care often, not needing to be present for all treatments, knowing and trusting the Creekside crew will take good care of them, handle and restrain them well, and help, not harm, them. As a seasoned critical care and surgical veterinary nurse, this speaks volumes of Swanner and his team's level of care. Thank you so much, all of you, for keeping my family in top form, keeping all of our sanity at a manageable level, and doing so much to help others, either clients, or the community at large, to better care for the animals entrusted to us! 2012 :Charles Xavier's intervertebral disc disease finally meets its match in Dr. Steve Swanner's multifocal approach! I love that he is a wise man, bringing my wee babe frankincense and myrrh. The symbolism as Charles' savior is not lost on us. Acupuncture and electotherapy expands Creekside's ability to serve its patients and knock pain and inflammation out. Thank you Steve, Julie, and crew for providing comfort and calm, helping us rest easier! We've utilized other local vets and none compare to Dr. Swanner.Read Less

I've been a dog owner for most of my adult life, so I've seen my share of vets. And I highly recommend Creekside! Although I know Dr. Swanner is very busy, I never feel like he is in a hurry to be finished talking with me. He always answers my many questions, returns calls quickly, and he knows what he is talking about. And the receptionist, Ashley, is super helpful and efficient. And one of the best things about Creekside is that I know they are not recommending products and services that are unnecessary, just to make money. Their fees are very reasonable and I really do trust Dr. Swanner's judgement. I hope this clinic is very successful and gets lots of business, because they deserve it. Read Less

Dr. Swanner and his staff have always been excellent to our pets. If something comes up and one of them is not feeling well I am able to come drop them off and know that they are in good hands. One of my dogs is extremely fearful of new people and places and all 60 pounds of him has to be carried in the office. Dr. Swanner is one of the only vets I have experienced with Kodie that makes him comfortable to be examined. I would suggest his office to anyone. Read Less

Read Less
