I've had a hard time finding a "great" vet in Alamance County. Where are they? Mebane Vet is as good as I can find and I'll stay. I take my dog and he gets adequate care but I always have to remind Dr. Brady what what the test said when she suggests said test performed a year ago (when we repeatedly come back about issues pertaining to the results). I have to call to find out test results, instead of getting calls about them, like cancer testing. If a medication has to be ordered, I call to find out if it's ready to be picked up a few days after my visit, but it's typically a reminder them to place the order. The front desk staff is mostly nice and they have cute kittens available for adoption. Read Less

Yesterday was a regular office visit and Dr Brady is the real deal!! If your looking for a vet who is an animal person with compassion and kindness to your animal this it the place. Mebane veterinary hospital offers excellent care at good rates. Our two dogs have gone here for years and we're very happy with the attention they get. We also had a cat, now deceased, who was seen here. We have worked primarily with Ann Brady, who is professional, kind, knowledgeable, and very good with animals. My most important metric of quality is how they perform during non-routine circumstances (e.g. sick dog) followed by what they do to prevent those situations from happening. ---------------------Summary (2.5 years)---------------------1. Minimal contact with DVM; the Vet Techs have conducted most of our visits2. Physical exams were not thorough. 3. Missed findings and insufficient counseling efforts contributed to bad outcomes for my dog.4. They did not accept my sick dog when he was sick and in pain even though he was an established patient and I contacted them during normal business hours.---------------------Details---------------------1. Minimal contact with the DVM, mostly Vet Techs conducting visit.Veterinarians have barely said any words to me in the nearly 3 years that I have been taking my dog there and I have never seen the same vet twice. Vet techs are knowledgeable but I expect to see a board-certified DVM if I'm paying $140 per visit for that level of service. I'm paying so that a DVM knows my dog when he's normal and isn't seeing him for the first time when he's sick, and theoretically they'd be more willing to help him when he's in distress (see #3). 2. Physical exams are not thorough and findings are missed.Standard of care on a first visit is for a veterinarian to do a comprehensive physical exam. In my dog's case, this is important because he was adopted and did not have a known medical history. Instead of placing my fella on the exam table, the exam was done haphazardly on the floor in less than 2 minutes. My tail-wagging, happy-face dog allows strangers and kids to pet him with zero fuss and he demonstrated no signs of distress during the visit, so I found this to be substandard service.3. Consequences for my dog due to inadequate service.The vet stated she had inspected the dog's teeth and that they were fine. Later, a friend pointed out that the dog was missing a tooth which appeared to have been surgically extracted. This places my dog at increased risk of subsequent infection and there are certain measures that can be taken to reduce this risk. The vet neither told me the tooth was missing nor provided the counseling measures I could have taken. The dog subsequently developed an infection (see next point).4. Was not available to help my dog when he was sick and needed to be seen urgently.My dog developed a severe infection under his jaw that increased to about golf-ball size over a matter of hours.  When I called they acknowledged he needed to be seen but they would not see him because people had already called in and filled the schedule. This was surprising because I had called 30 minutes before the clinic opened and the dog was an established patient with a relatively urgent medical need. After 8 hours they finally saw the dog and, by that point, he required a surgical procedure to drain the abcess. During this process, they also forgot to take care of a separate, minor issue that required anesthesia, necessitating an additional anesthetic ($300) at a later date. Read Less

I have been coming here for almost 15yrs! Dr. Brady is the best! I have had 5 dogs come through here for treatment and when 2 had to pass away they help me go through a hard period with this, they even sent me a letter of condolences that was touching! As always, our visit to Mebane Veterinary went smoothly. This visit was to update shots for our cat, Rufus. Rufus was one of Dr. Brady's rescues and spent his first several weeks of life at the clinic. You'd think he'd be happy to visit his former home, but he never is. You could look a long time for a more caring and knowledgeable vet than Dr. Brady and not come up with one.  She and her staff are simply the best.  Over a period of 16 or 17 years we've taken five dogs and five cats to Mebane Veterinary for routine care and a few pretty unusual situations.  Several times she's called us at home just to see how one of our patients was responding or to tell us she'd found some new information that might apply.  We've never felt like the clinic was too busy for our pets' problems and that hasn't always been the case at other vet clinics we've used in the past.  Mebane Veterinary Hospital is worth a little drive. Had a wonderful visit with my dog, Jarvis, today! He is a very scared, nervous dog, but they really worked with him and got down on his level to ensure he was as comfortable as possible! We first started coming here when we brought a lost dog we found here and the little guy was treated very well. They scanned him for a microchip, took a look at his broken leg, and then gave us donated medicine and food while we cared for him while looking for his people. We now bring our three dogs here for all their needs. They are open on weekends and usually able to make a last minute appointment for things that come up. They genuinely care about animals and make our dogs feel safe, even when they need to have unpleasant treatments. Having had to put one of our dogs to sleep - we could not have asked for more caring individuals to be there during the hard time. They helped us confirm we were doing the right thing and were incredibly kind and thoughtful during the entire thing and after.
