Today I took my hyperactive Australian Shepard for his check up and prevention medication. The appointment went by so fast! Dr. Charles staff was friendly and professional. We didn’t sit waiting for any length of time really, and Rhett was excited at each stage of the visit. What I appreciated the most was; I made a comment about my daughters love for animals and Dr. Charles made a point to describe what he was doing and the different anatomy he was checking with our dog. He further showed us his care for his patients and their owners when he offered to let her hear our pups heart beat and showed compassion for Rhett and his attention seeking behaviors! Read Less

I hate seeing Dr. Jones and staff getting reviews of being uncompassionate and only out for money.  I've had a completely different experience with them.  Dr. Jones and staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and sweet to our animals.  They give you an estimate of the cost for the visit prior to doing anything, and then go through the items and explain which are necessary and which can either wait or are at my discretion.  I've never felt pressured to spend money unnecessarily for treatments, and Dr. Jones was very understanding and helpful with alternative options when I couldn't afford to bring our pet to an eye specialist. Mercy Animal is one of the least expensive vets in the area, and I appreciate Dr. Jones offering exceptional service at a reasonable cost. I know people get very attached to their animals, but they can't expect expensive procedures to be done for minimal charge, on payment plans or for free.  I would never be able to afford cancer treatment for a pet, and I would opt to euthanize rather than treat.  I know I wouldn't be judged at Mercy Animal Hospital for making that choice, and I greatly appreciate their understanding not every person can afford to or wants to spend thousands on a sick pet. This by far is the BEST Vet in Union County!! The staff is wonderful and so very Helpful! Dr Jones and his Wife are outstanding. Our three dogs have been going to Mercy for 8 years (2 GS and Yorkie) Never did it feel like we where being taken advantage of. We boarded the dogs several times a year. Just an OUTSTANDING place!!! Don't take your animals here. All this vet cares about is the money not the animals. He tried to tell us our dog was in full renal failure and so we paid to get a ton of injections over a year's period and put him on special food and the. he said he made a miraculous recovery and was cured. Then, he removed a cyst on our other dog and told us if we didn't spend 10k on radiation that it would spread and our dog would die. We decided to take a wait and see approach and two years later he is just fine, but the final straw was after seeing both dogs and six of our kids dogs that we got hung up on, force disconnected, and finally referred to an outside mobile vet to come out and conduct euthanasia on our 17 year old Newfie/ Shepherd mix that lives 2 1/2 miles from his office and who was his patient since we lived here because he couldn't be bothered to do it - no compassion for your animals AT ALL because it's all about the benjamins with Dr. Jones so if that's what you're looking for then go here! Dr Jones and Mercy Animal Hospital,has been our vet since 2000. We gladly drive 45min to see them because they're that good! They care and it shows! They've treated our animals from shots, cutting off growths, to surgery removing tumors. If he only treated humans!! I decided not to go to the cheapest vet near me. We have been taking our dogs here for the past 13 years. We've had amazing results and the staff was always friendly...recently I was completely turned off by this place. I took my dog here because she was suffering from Pyrometra, which is extremely fatal if not taken care of. They told me the surgery would cost about $2600 and I couldn't afford to pay that. They gave me no options as to make payments or anything like that. Her time was quickly passing and I was panicked about losing my baby just because I couldn't afford it. They turned us away with no help. We then went to Brown Creek Animal Hospital, but time had run out and she passed away in the lobby before they could take her back. It was heartbreaking. Nice facility, but very expensive and inefficient. The Dr. was a nice guy (appeared to be very distracted though) but he tried to push unnecessary, invasive and expensive procedures on my dog, such as toe amputation by a specialty vet surgeon. To my surprise he also outsourced to a veterinary radiologist reading and consultation of the X-ray of my dog's paw - an absolute overkill. It cost us about $500. So I went to a different vet who can actually read his own X-rays. He just clipped off my dog's broken nail, recommended to continue the antibiotics prescribed by the previous vet and in few weeks my dogs swollen toe was fine. For less than $100. I was not happy with the Mercy Animal Hospital, because they used fear tactics to recommend expensive and unnecessary procedures. Read Less

I was pleasantly surprised by the service I received when I called. I needed to get cost of a test my pet needs to have done and the lady on the phone was very helpful and very pleasant to talk with. I recently moved out here a few weeks ago and I have been trying to find a vet near by I can take my pets to. After calling a different vet down the road from me and seeing how unhelpful they were just over the phone I decided I will need to travel a little further and take my pets to a place I feel comfortable. I would recommend anyone to bring their furbabies here. The staff is always welcoming and friendly, they are extremely informative but if they don't know they never hesitate to find any information I need in regards to my dogs. Dr. Jones takes his time to talk to me to make sure I understand everything going on or answers any questions I may have. He always walks in with a smile on his face. Took our dog in for a well dog visit and routine vaccinations.  Our dog got very sick after the visit.   Mercy took X-rays and was baffled as to what was wrong with our dog.  We switched vets and the new vet took a sonogram which showed cancer throughout the liver and spleen.  Wish Mercy would have been more diligent in diagnosing our poor dog who passed away this January. Since December 2016 I brought my boxer/lab that I rescued from Union County Shelter. I brought Molly in for a overall check and to have her spayed. The problems I have the most with Mercy Animal Hospital is that my Molly was never put into the system like I asked time and time again. Every time I brought her in for her nails to be clipped no one seem to be able to find me or much less molly in your system. Seemed to me we were just numbers. MY last experiece was the worse and my final straw! I called to see if I could bring not only MOLLY but also another dog I own to have their nails trimmed. I was told by one of the girls at the desk to just bring them in @ 3 on 3/31/17 and we can trim them for you. Also my other dog is with another vet and I asked could I bring him too. I was told sure just bring in his RABIES records. I called my vet and they faxed over to them immediately. I brought both my dogs for their nails to be trimmed @ the time of the appointment. When I signed in ONCE AGAIN they could not find Molly under my name(owner). I had to give the Union County Shelter name, I've asked each time I've come in to please put in your system My name and that I am the owner. Never has this been done according to my several requests. After I went through that problem we sat there and we sat there, and by the way sat there till 4:00. Never did anyone look at me, talk to me, I had to ask how much longer to have my DOGS toe nails to be trimmed since I had been there for an hour waiting for them to JUST TRIM my dogs nails. I was told at that time after I HAD TO ASK it would be another 10-15 minutes. Sorry my time is valuable too. I left. I will never go back and I will make sure anyone I know doesn't either. Terrible front desk service!!! Perhaps Mercy Animal Hospital should train their front desk people to be more kind to their clients and to at the very least show some respect. Thanks for nothing! I have had to visit this vet often lately for one of my pets and each time the staff in it's entirety has been very pleasant, and Dr. Jones has been amazing. I'm not sure how to rate this place. Overall the staff were friendly and answered questions, the vet I saw was courteous and easy to talk to. But my dog almost died because they didn't diagnose him correctly. They said he had arthritis/ hip dysplasia, turns out after countless seizures and a trip to another vet, he has cancer and was on the verge of hypoglycemic shock and death. I told the vet his symptoms ( collapsing, high gait, acting drunk) then said they come and go, and he seems better after he eats. Arthritis doesn't just disappear for days at a time and is cured by my dog eating.They tried to charge me 600+ for tests that only really looked into arthritic diseases. I told the vet I truly did not think that was what he had, but I couldn't convince him otherwise. They did blood work, which revealed low glucose, but they said hypoglycemia was not an issue ( it was) and that other things than his glucose would be low/ high of there was a problem. That was not the case. About a week later I saw him have a full blown seizure, then he stared to not be able to stand. We took him sycamore animal hospital in mint hill, they immediately diagnosed him with neurological issues, brought on my something, and instructed us to take him to the e.r in the morning, unless he deteriorated overnight. They had all the equipment to test for what could be wrong. He almost died that night, and I feel like he would never have gotten so close to death if mercy had not tried to push a diagnosis on me that would make them money. If you have a truly sick animal, take them somewhere else. Healthy animals should be fine here, but I have a hard time forgiving the diagnosis they gave my dog. Read Less

Dr Jones was wonderful with my Wally. Wally was on the elderly side when we first met Dr Jones, he treated him for a urinary tract infection and diagnosed him with pancreatitis. He told me what to feed Wally due to the pancreatitis. When Wally developed other problems and it became clear he was in pain he discussed my options with me. I chose to have Wally put to sleep, Dr Jones let me stay with Wally till the end. I know Wally is out of pain and didn't suffer. Read Less

Staff and doctors were super nice. HOWEVER, I was not taken seriously with my dog's storm anxiety. Even after showing pictures and videos. I was given drugs I did not need and paid $25 for a prescription that only costs $4 at walmart pharmacy. Very disappointing. Took my dog to Matthews Animal Clinic and was given the PROPER prescription with the correct dosage for my 66lbs pit-mix. Turns our Mercy was giving my dog something that wouldn't even effect a chihuahua. Never going back. Read Less

Love... Love... LOVE Dr. Jones. He has provided great care for our two dogs. We had an elderly beagle and a young Pup and needed the full spectrum of services. He assisted us through all care needed and his staff is great. Pricing seemed fair and was never excessive as described by others. I will say that this is not the cheapest place around, but you get what you pay for and the prices are fair and the care is excellent. We just brought our kitten there for boosters, and Dr.Jones was amazing and so was his staff!! We waited about 5 minutes to be seen, that's it!! We had him look at Sebastian ears, he had ear mites. Dr. Jones was so awesome he asked us if we wanted to see what they looked like under the microscope which I have to say was interesting and slightly yucky, but what Dr is that laid back? We thought he was so down to earth, and made us feel very comfortable. Prices are what they are but I didn't think they were excessive. I had an emergency today with my four-legged family member. Dr. Jones was so amazing. My Mai-li had been attacked my a coyote and he quickly did what was needed to stabilize her. Dr. Jones went out of his way to make necessary calls in order to get the continued care she required...keeping in mind I had no appointment and had never seen him before. Because of their greed, they sent me and my dog who desperately need surgery away because I didn't have $2000, I offered to make payments and they wouldn't work with me. My poor baby ended up dying. Obviously animals are not their # 1 choice, MONEY talks ! Shame on you, you have lost a customer and hopefully many more will check around first! Found a place near peachland (Brown Creek )that was going to do the same surgery for $500-700, but unfortunately since Mercy sent us away, they delay cost us her life. I found out about Mercy Animal Hospital through a friend when I moved back to Charlotte from Boone, NC. I was looking for an affordable, upfront vet that cared about each animal, and I definitely found that in Mercy Animal Hospital. I have recommended them to several friends who now take their animals there too, and love it. My cat is a total nightmare at the vet and has to be put to sleep just so the vets can work on him- they are so patient about it! Dr. Jones is awesome and all the techs are great too. I have been looking for a great vet for my dog, Hudson, for awhile now... Someone that truly cares for our fur babies, instead of the amount of money we spend each visit. I must say I was blown away by the ladies here at Mercy Animal Hospital. The girl at the front desk was warm and welcoming, our vet tech, Debbie, was absolutely amazing with Hudson, and the vet herself was fantastic as well. Dr. Jones has been my family vet since I was 15, now 32. He and his staff over the years have cared for all eight of our pets and he is beyond awesome! Every time I see him he asks how my family is doing and more importantly how our animals are doing. He has been there for my family and me during the good and bad times and is always putting our pets needs first. After just now moving from the Charlotte area I am sad to need to have another vet see my pup and two kitties for regular appointments, but I will always return to Dr. Jones and his wonderful staff for anything major my pets need. Dr. Jones and his staff saved my dog's life. There is no two ways about it! When I brought my dog in he was very sick. Dr. Jones diagnosed him and had a treatment plan in place the same day. Unfortunately, the cost of care to get him to himself again was well over what I could afford (over $3,000).So we set a limit as to how much we could pay for care. Once we reached the limit, Dr. Jones and his staff covered what they could, gave discounts, didn't even charge for the boarding and hospital stay and one staff person even donated $100. They worried over him, gave him attention every day, prayed for him at night, rushed in to work the next day to care for him. I know, without a doubt, without the staff and Dr. Jones my dog wouldn't have made it. He is now home with me and doing better than ever! He will always have medical problems now, but I will not bring him to ANY other vet! He actually ENJOYS going back to see the staff at Mercy Animal Hospital! Read Less

Dr Jones is a very skilled vet, he worked on my 10 year old boxer Sam (now 12) it took him 3 hours to complete a exploratory abdominal surgery to correct a blockage.  It was Sam's 5 the surgery, I am a RN and Sam's incision looked better and healed faster than most humans. Read Less

We shopped around when we moved and found Mercy to be the cheapest and friendliest in our area.  The staff are courteous and Dr. Jones is wonderful with animals.  Our big dog had surgery to remove a tumor and the price was reasonable.  They always explain procedures up front and don't make you feel like a loser if you can't afford something that isn't really necessary.
