We have used both the veterinary and boarding services for several years. We were extremely awakened back in January 2018 to the neglect we witnessed. 2 weeks prior to a trip we planned to Florida we made boarding reservation for our 2 dogs. They called to confirm the day before our planned drop off. 1/18 we experienced a light snow. When my husband arrived that morning around 11:00 there was no one there. No tire tracks, no foot prints. No one called us. We called left messages, we texted - no replies, we emailed - no response. We immediately had to delay our trip plans and find another boarding facility. I worried about the pets that were already there, not fed, some likely missing medicine doses, others not being taken out to relieve themselves. TOTAL NEGLECT on so many levels. We received a call from one of the handlers the following day in the afternoon. He apologized for the "executive decision" to closed the office and wanted to know if we still planned to board the dogs. Heck no!! We filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and needless to say immediately moved our business to a reputable caring vet and boarding facility. I can't believe this was an isolated incident. I wonder how many other times they have received money for neglecting others' pets. All it takes is a phone call - right?? Give people notice - a choice. 0 stars here!! (had to put one star to post) We tell everyone we know how neglectful Lake Norman Animal Hospital is. Read Less

One morning my couple months old dog acted strangely (disoriented, falling, fainting just like a drunk person would). I immediately took her here and saw dr Mary Alexander who was always sweet to us, but this time also took advantage of us what I think is very unethical. She suggested to run a blood test without informing me the high cost of it close to $200. I was so scared for my dog's well being I agreed without asking because I trusted her that she is the doctor, she knows what is necessary, she will help my puppy, she must have good intentions and good morals. I realized those are non of her qualities. She is as greedy as the rest. The test of course came back just fine, puppy was healthy. And then she informed me what she should have started with: that my dog has low blood sugar, which is very common with small breeds and by rubbing some sugar on her gums can easily fix the problem. What a heartless person! She left my dog for an additional 20-30 min to suffer while that lab result came back, while she knew exactly how common and simple our problem was but wanted to make money out of us. Read Less

My one star rating is specifically for the fact that this vet says they see exotics, i.e. Reptiles, birds and others. False, the vets here have no experience in exotics at all. Took my Chameleon in just for them to look at his eye, because he had something in it and it needed to be flushed. The vet was telling me information about my animals species that was totally false and incorrect. So, I would never take any of my lizards there. They also say they do birds, I first hand see someone's birds who had been taken there for a simple wing clipping, and the birds wings were butchered and completely clipped wrong. The cockatiel was bleeding terribly, couldn't eat or do anything for days. So any one looking for a vet for a car or dog, maybe go here. But the office was dirty, the exam rooms were full of hair and smelled, the eye wash they wanted to use for my Chameleon, the lid had been sitting open and I told them not to use it. They were unprofessional and very ill experianced in exotic pets. Read Less

I had an unbelievably good experience with everyone at Lake Norman veterinarian hospital. I am new to the area and first called Banfield clinic in Mooresville and they were not able to see me until Tuesday with a very sick dog I called Lake Norman hospital they got me in with in the hour spent two hours with me and got to the root of the problem causing my Shiloh Shepherd's diarrhea! Dr. Mary spent over an hour with me and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating! I am so glad I found a vet clinic that I am so comfortable with here in Mooresville! Not sure how the Banfield Mooresville vet hospital stays in business with such incredibly unaccommodating staff. Read Less

I left my dog here to be boarded for 4 days. As you can imagine dogs are very loyal and get stressed out when apart from their owners. It's important for them to be somewhere that try's to make them as happy as possible. Well unfortunately for my dog that wasn't the case. When I picked up my dog he was bleeding and very upset and couldn't get out of there quick enough. His entire snout/mouth and nose area was extremely swollen, this was very noticeable, obviously this was self inflicted(possibly trying to get out of the fenced in area). But weather it being self inflicted is way beside the point, it should have been very evident that he was stressed and or not happy with whatever situation he was in and some sort of action should have been taken on the animal hospitals part, and unfortunately wasn't. When I said something to whoever was working they acted as if it was no big deal. My dog is a part of my family and if someone who's job is to care for animals can't have a degree of concern for my family I want nothing to do with them. I will never take my dog back. He was traumatized enough Read Less

When we moved to LKN finding a vet was a top priority for us.  Our little dog has several terminal conditions and staying on top of her care is a priority for us.  We were spoiled by our old vet who just gave us such great care so we were nervous when it came time to find a new vet.And I am happy to say those concerns quickly melted away when we went to Lake Norman Animal Hospital.  The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating.  The staff's own dogs lounged behind the desk making for the cutest scene ever.  My dog, as skittish and antsy as she is, was greeted in the exam room by 3 amazing techs.  They were kind to me and my dog, so thorough when trying to comb through her medical records (of which I failed to provide fully) and before they even did anything to her, they spent a solid 10 minutes just soothing and loving her.  When it came time to draw blood the nurse helping hugged and kissed her while the other tech drew the blood.  I really felt like I was surrounded by animal lovers that not only took their work seriously but connected with the animals.  It may sound silly and dramatic but when you love your pets and they are sick, it warms your heart when others show commitment and concern to their care.  I couldn't be more thrilled with the care we got.  And the price... it's more than half of what we used to pay at our old vet!  We would pay anything for the care of our animals but it sure helps when its not as hard on your wallet.  I highly, highly recommend Lake Norman Animal Hospital. Do NOT bring your hedgehog here. Dr. Heinen was actually leaving the room to look up information because he was so unsure. Also, he told me that it "didn't matter," if my hedgehog has cataracts or diabetes because there's nothing I can do to treat either of them. Which is untrue, if a hedgehog has diabetes diet changes could help manage it. I basically paid $63 to have my hedgehog weighed because he was clueless. Twice they have made inaccurate billings and/or billed for items that have already been paid for on my bills. After placing a stop payment on the check for the 2nd time after reviewing the bill, I contacted the office simply asking to be billed the proper amount and I would be more than happy to take of it. After waiting for a call back from their accounting person (Lisa) that works part time she informed me they were going to charge me a fee for stopping payment on the check on top of the amount due. She was absolutely completely clueless to the fact it was their billing error in the first place. It was like talking to a complete idiot. All they had to do was correct the bill and be done with it. This took place in December of 2009 and they still can not seem to get this corrected and referred it to a credit agency. Which isn't in a position to do anything because of the inaccurate bill in the first place from Lake Normal Animal Hospital. Just complete incompetence for something that could have been resolved in 24 hours. Read Less

They were unwilling to help during an emergancy, they handled my 8 week old puppy very roughly. They were rude to me when I asked how much their services cost. I left and took my pets to Mooresville Animal Hosptial on Hwy 21 and those people had MUCH better prices, they were very friendly, they treated my dogs like their own, were very gental and caring and explained things and answered questions in a language I could understand. We bought a 6 week old puppy for our daughter who's pet just died of a liver defect. A couple of days later, the puppy started to get sick. We took her to the Lake Norman clinic the first time and they did a few tests then sent her home. The puppy was not getting better. My wife took the puppy back as she was getting worse and requested to have a Parvo test. The puppy ended up having Parvo. We were told that to treat the disease would cost possibly over $1,000. It was Christmas time and we were very short. We decided to get the treatments anyway and were at first begging for a payment plan. We could not let another pet of my daughter's die. The Vet would not work with us and was getting ready to refuse the pet. I guess that the health of their patients is not the most important thing. We ended up figuring how to get our puppy to stay and get treatments. She was sent home with us the next week saying that she was improved enough to go home. When she came home, she started getting worse. We called and was told that this sometimes happens with Parvo but to keep an eye and make sure that she did not have nausea or diareah. Our puppy did not want to eat and seemed to be getting weaker. We forced her to eat and drink and hoped that she was only recovering. One thing that concerned us was that the Vet did not give our puppy a bl00d test even though they had her on an IV. I guess that they were trying to save costs. Last night , our puppy went into a coma. We immediately brought her to an emergency clinic. It turns out that she had some other underlying problems that could have been detected through a bl00d test and probably fixed if they would have been looked into then. The clinic restored her vitals but right now the puppy is still in a coma. Thank you Lake Norman Clinic. Your lack of caring and concern may make us have to tell our daughter she has lost another pet at Christmas. I guess we realize what is really most important to you.

Read Less

My family and I have taken our pets here since moving back to North Carolina in 1998.  I will NEVER take my animals anywhere else besides here.  They are trustworthy, caring, and straight forward...  I love this place for taking such good care of our furry loved ones.    Holly (up front) is always such a delight to see and speak with... And all the vet techs are amazing as well.   They understand pet ownership and the love/bond between owner and pet.  I love this place.

I do NOT recommend this place for hedgehog owners.Read Less

Read Less

You want a good vet? Try Mooresville Animal Hosptail. DO NOT GO TO LAKE NORMAN ANIMAL HOSPITAL! This place was very rude, not friendly towards me or my dogs. They were unwilling to help during an emergancy, they handled my 8 week old puppy very roughly. They were rude to me when I asked how much their services cost. They said I shouldn't ask if I couldn't afford it. I've had dogs for over 30 years and I have NEVER met a vet so uncaring and unfriendly as these people are. Read Less
