I have went to Randall Veterinary Hospital for the past 8 years, thankfully during that time I only had to take my baby for basic check ups, shots and occasional allergy issues. I can only think of one time prior to my most recent experience that it was for a more major issue. I now regret that I did not have more experience with this vet in the past as I could have found another vet before it was too late. A major issue with this office is there are 3 different vets, but they each only work a few days a week, so if you have to make more than one visit for an ongoing issue you will more than likely see a different vet each time and I feel that one vet doesn't want to step on the other vet's toes and their "opinions." Dr. Robinson is by far the most thorough, knowledgeable and caring out of all of the vets there. However, due to my schedule I had to see Dr. Rambo and I took my baby in for a constant cough. I left that visit with no clue what was going on as she threw about 10 different possibilities at me and requested a heart ultrasound be done. I left with medication for congestive heart failure and antibiotics, but NOTHING for the cough. Over the next week I called and went into to vet begging for something for the cough, but instead I was told I had to bring him back in if I wanted cough medicine, even though I was just there and nothing had changed. So I took him back in and now saw Dr. Robinson and had more xrays taken and new medications added, but still nothing for the cough. After further contacts I was given prednisone and since the cough did not improve over the next few days after that I was finally given cough medicine, but I believe it was too late. His old age and the constant, literally 24/7, coughing for a month straight was too much on his little body. He collapsed and I rushed him to the emergency vet. After more xrays and a consult with a radiologist there I was told that he was NOT in heart failure and basically all of the medicine aside from the cough medicine and prednisone was doing nothing for him...so that was three and half weeks of unnecessary medication and I feel if only something was given for the cough sooner he may have recovered. My other issue is when I called to schedule the ultrasound it was a month wait, which did not seem to be a big deal to the vet. When his condition did not improve after the appointment was scheduled I advised I found another office that could see him sooner, but the initial office was still the preferred choice. I do not understand why cough medicine was not given sooner, why did he have to suffer for so many weeks without someone trying to stop the cough and why was it okay for him to wait a month for the ultrasound when he was so bad. These are questions that I will never have the answers to. I called and provided updates continuously to the vet and typically had to leave a message with the receptionist because the vet was busy and I would receive a call back several hours later. I stopped in one day around 1:00 because I still didn't get a response from my 8 am phone call, but was advised the vet was on lunch and would be back in an hour and a half. I got a phone call back at 4:55. I last spoke to the vet on Thursday, which was the day after the ER visit and we spoke about his upcoming ultrasound that was scheduled for Monday. Sadly, my little guy passed away on Friday. To date, which has been just over 6 weeks I still have not heard from anyone at Randall Veterinary. I did not contact them to advise of his passing and I did not tell the ultrasound office either. I would think that they would have called to check on how the ultrasound went or if they had knowledge that it was cancelled then I would think they would call to check on him and if they assumed he passed away I would think after taking him there for 8 years they would at least express their condolences, but I have not heard anything at all and that is disappointing! I feel that this office is more concerned about making a buck, versus a dog's life. My dog, which was my life, is gone now and I question if only I took him somewhere else would he still be here. I would not recommend this vet to anyone and I personally regret not finding a better vet for my baby. I am thankful that I only had to take him in the past for basic check ups, but now also regretful as if only I could have learned sooner about how they care for pets (or lack of) during illness I could have went to a better, more qualified, caring vet that potentially could have treated him for the cough from the start instead of adding the necessary medications weeks later and additionally they treated him for something that was later determined that he in fact did not even have. I wish someone could have told me to look elsewhere and since I did not know any better I am hoping that I can help someone else not make the same mistake that I made... Read Less
