This is one of my favorite vets offices for my dog. They seem to genuinely care about animals and try to help. Plus, most of the staff are friendly. The heads up I want to share is that this is one of the few vets who also offer a discount for veterans year around. This is one of the cheapest vetranian in the area including most within 30 miles. The office is usually clean considering the amount of animals that goes through the doors. The rooms are small but again, animals don't require a lot to examine. The staff is always friendly and pretty easy to understand and work with. Prices vary depending on what services you get with what animals. This vet even accepts birds while most others won't. I have an African grey that only gets her wings trimmed up a little. My only major complaint so far is their parking lot, turning into the business you clearly see painted lines for parking that if taken, would leave you with no way to enter on one side because of the angles. Please be careful with your dogs when you let them use the bathroom outside, the parking lot is extremely close to the main side road so can be hit if you aren't paying attention. Read Less

The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door of Surry Animal Hospital is that everyone loved my kitty! They made him and me feel comfortable and welcome. He recently passed away, after 14 years with our family, and they were so compassionate and considerate of us while they were caring for him and when he died. Do not I repeat do not go here. I have 2 dogs, one young female and one older male. I took the older male in because I was concerned about him looking too thin and he had some red bumps on his back and I just wanted to make sure that everything was okay with him. I got to the apointment and the doctor barely looked over him and told me that everything looked fine and it was nothing to be too concerned with, just to keep an eye on his bumps. I of course payed my $50 bill and returned home. He still hasn't gained his weight back and the bumps are still there so I decided to go to another vet. First thing the vet noticed when she walked in was that he was way too skinny for his breed and since I feed him properly that there must be something wrong. She checked his heart beat and temperature and he had a fever. She suggested doing some tests to figure out what was causing this and my dog has numerous parasites including heart worms and also Lyme disease. Now I am not a vet so when this vet told me that everything was okay I believed them to a point. But when I go to another vet and she immediately noticed that there is something wrong and something so serious then that is a problem. So please people do not take your animals here, it seems they don't actually care at all. I just wish I would have went to the other vet first since they actually care. There is no telling how long my dog has had this problem and it should have been dealt with sooner when they seen him. So do not go here. I recommend the vet on West Lebanon street. The doctors and staff are so loving to my dogs/cats and always work me in for any emergencies, no questions asked! They love my fur children like their own and that is just one reason why this veterinary office the BEST!!! Also... I brought my kitty Esme in today and she was completely anxious. We weren't even able to get close to her because she was hissing and growling, but everyone was SO nice and understanding. They took great care of her and even though she was scared to death and I was embarrassed, they made me comfortable. I had a horrible experience dealing with these people. They have no common sense and cannot think for them selfs. I was coming home to get my service dog so my husband had taken the dog into them to get his vaccinations. At the last minute the USDA changed the requirements so I had to get a Corona virus booster. Here is how the conversation went. SAH, dont got that shot but we can call around town and see if the other vet got it. Me, can you check with the vets is Winston? SAH we dont got a list of their phone numbers. Me, Do you have the internet.. So I get a call back nobody in town carries this vaccine. So I type Buy Corona virus vaccine into google and three clicks later they have the vaccine the next day. They know this is my dog because I have called then about 5 times now including from Peru. I go in the next day and tell them this is my dog again and they give the dog the shot I bought a worming tablet that I had to administer myself and the vet signs the paper $150. This part is my fault I should have known by dealing with them that they are not too smart but I didnt double check the papers due to the fact that I told them multiple times this dog belongs to me and I have to take it out of the country. I overnight the papers to Albany New York because I only have ten days from the time they vet signs the papers till I pass customs in Peru. I get the papers back and they put my husband down as owner. I called them up and blessed them out and all they could say was the account was in my husbands name. Really airheads? Are you really dumber than a box of hammers? I was so mad at that point blessed them out because I dont look good in an orange jumpsuit. Do not go there, they are stupid. This is Dr. Lewis. I ranted on this place for being incompetent. That was wrong I should have rated on the Vet and not his staff. He has incompetent staff and he is not much better. When I realize I have hired stupid people I just fire them and pay the unemployment. I must be stupid too because I didnt check behind him to make sure he was doing his job. Not only did they put the wrong owner down on my dog but the vet signed the paper work complete when the dogs chip number was not listed. This is my service dog. I got loads of grief over this when I arrived in Peru. If I hadnt been listed as handler own my own dog they would not have let us in the country. So I should not have called and yelled at the staff I should have called and yelled at him for being stupid. Here is the best part he called my husband and said he would have the police remove me from the property if I ever came back. I wouldnt go back there if you paid me. The vet and the staff is incompetent. It must not be hard to get a vets license.Read Less

I normally don't write reviews, but when it comes to something as important as your pet I feel people should be informed. I am new to the area so picking a vet was like rolling the dice. the initial visit was because my 13 year old dog was feeling bad, with a cough, and no energy. the coffe was not clearing up and she began to wheeze at night. I took her in at my appointment time and was quickly brought back to an examining room where I waited for at least 30 minutes while what sounded to be 15 dogs in a kennel barked at the top of their lungs. I understand where I was at, but it is a little upsetting to the animal you are bringing in. after 30 minutes the doctor came in and decided he needed to do an xray. he said he saw something on our lung he didn't like and gave her an antibiotic and cough medicine with the instruction to come back in a week. $212.I was to come back to do a lyme disease panel which I mentioned to him. The doctor is probably a good doctor and I understand they cannot figure everything out the first time. My neighbor told me of a very good vet closer and a lot better priced and with great reviews. Well since nothing had came back positive test wise, I decide to go to the new recommended vet to start again. As I go to get my xrays from Surry animal hospital the first staff lady up front was very nice but said I would have to come back because nobody could get the xrays that was there. She also said I could speak to the doctor when I got back to get the xrays. I come back proceed to tell the doctor that I am going to go to another doctor due to financial reasons and they are closer. he understood tried to justify the and handle things very professionally. as I go to the front desk to get the 50 cent disc that my X ray is on, they charged me $12 that was never mentioned before. when I spoke to the first lady I talked to about the charge this lovely red headed nurse chimed in,with her comments about the price of thé disc.all I had said to the first lady was that they don't charge us to get are xrays at a regular doctor and before I could get anything else out the lovely redheaded nurse that nobody was talking to chimes in on how expensive they charge you for the regular xrays at the doctor.so if you would like to go to a vet where if you say anything about your bill and they add to it with an attitude coming from people you're not talking to you will love this vet.the doctor I'm sure knows what he's doing but if you want to be treated poorly for saying anything this is the place to go.
