Oak Island Animal Hospital

Oak Island, North Carolina
General Info
Oak Island Animal Hospital in Oak Island provides specialized breed-tailored veterinary services to address pet health trends and seasonal needs throughout North Carolina. The appointment typically starts with questions about the cat’s daily movements, such as climbing, resting position, jumping tolerance, fatigue levels and social behavior A head-to-tail examination Appraises weight and orthopedic symmetry as it examines range of motion, coat health, breathing comfort, oral condition and sensory response. Knowing the pet’s history, a veterinarian needs to analyze the signs of breed predisposition to health issues such as hip problems or spinal weaknesses, allergies, and heat intolerance. The Oak Island Animal Hospital strives to better the health and well-being of animals by providing the following services: vaccine programs, lab work, lameness checks, nutritional coaching, dental exams, and pain evaluation. Rechecks are scheduled based on the individual patient’s needs and breed predispositions such as joint stiffness in large dogs during winter, spring pollen flare-ups, or exercise intolerance in heat-sensitive breeds. The planning process might focus on the age stage development or activity-based conditioning recommendations. Every household receives a comprehensive set of visit reports with precise home alterations to implement, such as traction tips, harness type, weight targets, temperature awareness and monitoring notes. Return timelines can be planned based on the achievement of athletic milestones (in cases of injury recovery tracking) or weather conditions (for arthritis-prone and aging pets). Pet owners in Oak Island and the neighboring North Carolina areas receive a movement-, time-, and breed-specific health management framework from Oak Island Animal Hospital, which is well coordinated. Services provided at Oak Island Animal Hospital include Thermal Imaging, Endoscopy, Internal Medicine, Boarding, Bloodwork, Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, Dental Care, Puppy and Kitten Care, and Oncology. This range of services ensures that local pet owners in Oak Island and surrounding areas have access to everything they need, from routine checkups to advanced procedures. The clinic has earned the trust of Oak Island residents by ensuring that pets live long, healthy, and happy lives.

Very compassionate and caring Veterinarian and staff. They were able to fit me in on a very busy day to tend to my ailing senior dog. When the bloodwork was delayed by the lab due to our coastal weather, Dr. King gave Nugget another exam and B12 shot to help him with his appetite and energy during the delay at no charge to me and gave me all the emergency numbers should we need them. The bloodtests did not reveal good news for us and Dr. King gave us all the options available and the pro/cons in a very kind but straight terms. Nugget's liver failure was so severe that we decided to help him pass on. I've had many dogs in my lifetime and have been fortunate to have good vet care for all of them, but have to say, Dr. King and his staff were the most caring, respectful and kind throughout the process. The cremation service was professional, fast and again, very thoughtful. Thank you, Dr. King and Oak Island Animal Hospital staff. Highly recommended. Read Less

We were at Oak Island for vacation and my service dog chipped a tooth.  Since he needs to be in peak health to assist me, we decided to take him in ASAP.  I called them in the morning and they were able to get us in within 30 minutes of my call.It is a small clinic and may not look like much from outside but both the staff and the veterinarian are wonderful.  They were attentive and kind and took us back to an exam room right away.  I was treated as any other person would be, despite my obvious disability (which often makes people treat me like I'm less intelligent than I am) which is wonderful.  My service dog was at ease and clearly enjoyed the attention he received from all the staff. If your pet needs veterinary attention while on Oak Island, I can't recommend Oak Island Animal Hospital enough!
