Around thanksgiving I noticed that my oldest Sulcata had a snotty nose. Through the holidays it got worse, she was coughing and sneezing, sleeping A LOT, and barely eating and not very active. I brought her (along with my other juvenile sulcata) for checkups in February because I read about respiratory infections leading to pneumonia...and death.
Dr. Eckermann-Ross and staff were great with my girls! They did indeed both have upper respiratory infections, and we're treated with antibiotic injections. The nurse stayed with me and showed me how and where to do the injection on Smallz, then aided and guided me while I gave Shorti hers. They definitely take care of your pets, and care enough to make sure you can handle giving medications at home. If I couldn't do it, or had trouble, I could bring back them in and they would do it for me! I even received a follow up call from the desk staff a few days after, and Dr Eckermann-Ross herself cheking in around the 3 week mark to see how they were doing and if I needed more antibiotics.
I don't like seeing all the posts saying they're expensive...this is an exotic pet clinic only. Of course you'll pay a little more because they're specialists. Who else could I take my African Tortoise to and have the specialty care they need? Plus they do boarding! Boarding for exotic pets! That's awesome. I'm lucky that my wife has a good friend with 3 boys that take care of our pets while were gone. But I wouldn't hesitate to let them keep my girls for us. Who better than a veterinarian to leave them with!
Overall, a first visit for 2 juvenile Sulcatas, fecal test, bacterial test, and antibiotics for both for 3 weeks, out the door cost was $350ish. I don't think that was bad at all. And my girls are doing so well and I love seeing how playful they are now that spring has come! Read Less
