I highly recommend Brentwood Animal Hospital. The staff was very courteous, very clean facility, and they have a heart. We had to put our beloved family member to sleep. This was our first visit. They were caring and understanding from when we called to make the appointment all the way through the end. Both Doctors are great - especially Dr. Hild; she even called once after a visit to check back and see how my dog was doing. Dr. Steve has been helping my furry loved ones since the 80's and there is no one else I trust more than him and the rest of the BAH team to take care of my fur babies whenever they need it. Steve has been there when I have had to put my loved ones down, from old age, or other health conditions and he has always been very supportive as well as the rest of the staff. Shelly always is there to lend a hand and give helpful advice and is just so warm and trusting, and I love that in a receptionist! The whole staff really gives me a peace of mind! Dr. N, Shelley, and the rest of their team are all wonderful to work with and very friendly and understanding. Dr. N is humorous but blunt, and very no-frills - he won't suggest unnecessary tests and does a very good job of explaining things. I've been taking my geriatric (16 year-old) cat to them since autumn 2015 and am very pleased. An office visit and exam is less than $50, and all other procedures are reasonably priced as well from what I can tell. I plan to continue going to this vet as long as I'm living in the area, and would suggest him and his team to anyone. Read Less

I had to bring my dog in for a routine visit and was wowed by the outstanding level of customer service I received from the lady at the front desk and the young lady who took the information once we were in the examination room.  We were seen at our scheduled time and there was no waiting. We have been going to Dr. Steve ever since we moved to Raleigh. Our little dog is not thrilled about going in (understandably so), but they provide an excellent care for their patients and their parents, not just the doctor, but every single person that works in the office, starting from front desk to the veterinarians. Dr. Steve does not sugarcoat things and provides you with the best information about your pet for you to make an informed decision about treatment plan for the said pet. Although it takes us now some distance to see our vet, having multiple vet offices in 1 mile radius from our current location, we still drive miles to see Dr. Steve specifically, because he is one one we feel we can trust. Love this vet! Dr. N takes care of all of our pets and has now for nearly 14 years. Does what is needed and explains why it is needed, never orders tests unneccessarily, and keeps our pets in top form. My youngest pup will 12 this year and he has helped me keep her in top form! Read Less

This is the worst vet I've ever been to. Here's our story:It looked like our cat was bleeding everytime she walked on something white. So we took her to the Brentwood Animal Hospital. After describing the problem to the vet, he suggested we put her under and they scope out her esophagus. Turned out everything looked fine, and to the tune of $80 we were told to keep an eye on things and let them know if something else turned up.In the coming days we saw the "bleeding" continue, and we took her back in. This time we showed him pictures and gave further description of what was going on. Another $40 later, another diagnosis of everything is fine and let us know if something goes wrong.Two weeks later, "bleeding" is still sporadic, and so I decide to google. I type in "cat bleeding at sink."  What comes up? First result: she has fleas. FLEAS. This vet could not diagnose the most common problem with pets. So now I have a flea problem in my house that's gone on unchecked for more than three weeks due to this vet's inability to diagnose. We've called them, and they refuse to refund any of our payments. I have an 11 month old German Shepherd I have been taking here since she was 3 months old. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Every time I call in with a concern they advise me on whether or not the issue is serious enough to bring her into the office. If I do have to bring her in they are always courteous and on-time. I went to Brentwood Animal Hospital for about five years with my two dogs. I would still be going there if I hadn't moved out of state. I think some of the poor reviews have to do with the fact that Dr. Steve is not overly emotional. However, I always appreciated his plain speaking and straightforwardness when explaining what the best care was for my pets. I Never felt like they were trying to "upsell" me. I have since moved to Rhode Island and I have Never been able to find a vet that is even close to Brentwood Animal Hospital's reasonable pricing and excellent care of my pets.  The heart wormMedicine alone is about twice the price here in RI.  Shelly who is the office manager, or similar was so friendly and she, Dr Steve, and all the vet techs were so helpful to a new dog owner!  Farley and Matilda miss going there! I've been a patient at Brentwood Animal hospital for over 25 years. Dr. Neuschwander and his staff are some of the most compassionate people I've had the privilege of knowing over the years. We have been though everything with spaying/neutering our pets, to treating injuries, to dealing with diabetes and other chronic/acute diseases, but most of all keeping them in a state of optimal health for their age and condition. Dr. N has also been with us at the very end of life, when sometimes our beloved furry friends are suffering and we have had to say good-bye. They even send caring sympathy cards signed by the staff. If and when that hard day comes, it's essential to have someone that really cares. The BAH staff is also amazing. Shelly is always so kind on the phone and in person. The vet techs have always been professional and friendly. Dr. N is extremely competent and professional when assessing our pets, but he also always smiles and asks about our human family too. The prices are very fair. And the fill-in vet Dr. H--she is also very kind and thorough. I have never had any desire to go anywhere else. We have always found them to be compassionate, caring and patient. Dr. N. and the whole staff at Brentwood Animal Hospital literally saved my dog's life! We had just rescued our beautiful Shepherd from a breeder. She had never been socialized and is quite the nervous nelly. Unfortunately her tummy turned (bloat) and she was in a life threatening situation. Dr. N. operated on her, pinned her stomach to keep it from happening again, and gave the best post op. care you could dream of. His staff LOVED and cared for my girl. I truly believe she is alive today because of them. They continue to provide excellent care when she has trouble (recently diagnosed with ulcers...those nerves), and I appreciate Dr. N.s straightforward, yet kind, approach. He is an excellent experienced Vet. and his staff (Shelley and the team) are caring, kind and conscientious.Read Less

When my dog goes to the vet, she doesn't cry and whine. She doesn't even mind getting on the scale (ok, it takes her a minute to get comfortable but she doesn't dread it) We have had the opportunity to meet with both Doctors here and they have different personalities which I think, running a business is needed. (different strokes for different folks) Dr. Hild after bring my pup in to get checked out a couple of weeks ago, was able to talk with me openly about what might be happening with her (She had a bacterial infection that was spreading down her legs and she was given an antibiotic for it) she even followed up with me the very next week to see how she was doing and to see if there have been any changes. She is very nurturing and down to earth.Dr. Steve, though be might come off as cold, has the no BS demeanor. He tells you like it is and is honest.I love the staff here, they are very nice and always willing to give advice and I know that my pup is taken care of when we take her there.Sometimes, people don't always write the positives so I thought I would. Staff was very caring, however, the vet was not. Dr. Steve was unable to diagnosis my pet after 2 visits. At the last visit, he literally laughed and said "I don't know what it is" then walked out and still charged full price for the visit and medication refill. Didn't think I would be paying a "doctor" to look confused. He provided no suggestions and was apathetic and aloof about the situation. I am never seeking advice or treatment from him again. I took my newly adopted cat here, who had oozing eyes and was sneezing.  Dr Steve was very unfriendly during the visit and prescribed her just eyedrops.  I questioned him, asking if it would solve the problem, since she was sneezing as well.  He kind of brushed me off and said yes.  Well, sure enough it didn't solve the problem, and I went to another vet a week later who said she had a very bad upper respiratory infection.  Also during the visit, in response to a question about her being sick, he nastily stated that infections like this are the risk you run when adopting from a shelter.  I thought that vets should encourage adoption, not act like you're second rate for not buying from a breeder. Finally I have settled on Dr. Steve N here at Brentwood, who is very professional and talented. His staffs at the Animal Hospital were professional as well; I never felt he was condescending or patronizing.All except for the fact the hospital is located in the corner of New Hope Church and Atlantic, which always seem to be the busiest corner for traffic when I bring my pups in or pick up my pupsAlso check out the website, which informs you the monthly specials they have going on, for example, for this month of February it's 20% off dental cleaning. The whole staff is caring, supportive and wonderful!  Dr. Steve takes the time to sit down with you, explain what needs to be done and why.  He explains things in a way that everyone can understand and explains the reasoning behind it.  I've been bringing my kids there since 2005 and I'd never consider going anywhere else.  I know Dr. Steve and trust him immensely.  His prices are very good, his service is excellent and their kennels are the cleanest I've ever seen.  I can't say enough good things about Brentwood Animal Hospital! Wow. I wish I had found this vet a long time ago.  After searching for months to find a vet I feel comfortable bringing my pets to, I finally found myself at Dr. Steve's door.  Dr. Steve N is very low-key and quiet but never leaves doubt he has your pet's best interests in mind. The staff is friendly, helpful, and kind.   An added plus and an important one for me, his prices are far more reasonable than his counterparts in the Cary area.   I've been searching for a vet who shares my philosophy -- expensive doesn't mean better -- I found it refreshing to find a vet doc who just wants to practice.  Dr. N offers choices but always with a dose of folk-wisdom practical.  A bit of a drive for me right now, but worth the time and trip. My husband and I have been using Dr. Steve for over 15 years through 4 dogs and 4 cats. He gives straight-forward answers and advice, but does not use a lot of high-tech gadgets. He knows where to send you if you need that equipment and doesn't  mind working with specialists to find out the best thing for your pet.  They are also one of the most reasonably priced vet around. Mostly they are good people that remember you and your pets when you call, and go the extra mile to help. When our house caught fire, they came and got our cat to take him to be boarded while we dealt with everything else. Then they worked with us while we found someplace else to live for the next six months.  You don't find that kind of service very much anymore. Read Less
