The most deplorable treatment ever from the girl who answered the phone. I will never step foot in their office again! I called to ask if an abandoned 7 day old kitten should be seen that I had been taking care of since the day it was born along with litter mates that didn't make it. After asking what I was feeding them, she flat out told me that I had KILLED the ones that passed. I get that in the rescue world there is a debate between replacement milk formula and g...oats milk, however both have many litters surviving and thriving and failing on either and feeding either is NOT a death sentence. (Many rescue, info sites promote one or the other or both) I couldn't believe what I had heard. So I stated that multiple sites from rescue organization put up the recipes etc and asked if I really had heard her just accused me of killing the kittens and she said YES it was my fault. It is now several days later and I am still absolutely appalled by what was said. That woman has no business at all EVER talking to anyone like that !! Dr. Cotten and his entire staff has been like family to us and our animals, I completely trust what they tell me and believe me my dog is like one of my kids, Dr. Cotten understands this and helps me keep him at his best. The front desk staff and fantastic Vet Technicians are always on the ball and ready to greet you and your four-legged friend. All the prices are reasonable, and you won't be pressured into procedures or tests. The medical staff always answers your questions with simple easy to understand treatment plans. I've been a loyal customer of Brookwood Vet and Dr Cotton since 2000. I've brought every pet of mine here. 12+ dogs and 3 cats. Even when the outcome is unhopeful to save some of my elderly rescues, Dr. Cotten always handles this professionally and truly cares. He never recomends medicines or treatements that are unnecessary or harmful. I've visited other vets after hours in emergency situations and always have followed up with Dr Cotton. Several times he has caught things the other vets missed. He also has donated to the ASPCA in the name of everyone of my fur babies that has crossed the rainbow bridge.Read Less

I have never been treated so poorly by anybody in my life. It scares me a little if they treat me like this to my face. how did they treat my pets for YEARS when I wasn't there to protect them or when they had to be sedated. I still can't get over how unprofessional they are. Read Less

I have been a client of Brookwood Vet since 1979 and Dr. Cotton and his staff are always happy to see me, helpful, concerned and caring. When we first moved to Garner, Dr. Cotton cared for our large animals, too. Now he just takes care of all my small animals. Through the years we have faced many surgeries, new pets, old pets, illnesses, triumphs and tragedies. Most recently, my 12 year old cat, Felix, was diagnosed with lymphoma. Unfortunately, his condition quickly worsened and his quality of life suffered and I made the decision to euthanize. Dr. Cotton and the staff were very sympathetic and caring. Dr. Cotton even gave me a hug and they always send a card. I can't say enough good things about them. We had our pet put down here because of her suffering and what a mistake it was. She was in our family for 15 years. Dr. Cotton, or whatever his name is, was the most insensitive individual during the process of seeing our loved dog leave us. I will never be able to drive by this place without thinking how much better our dog deserved when leaving us. I hope this man chooses a different profession, because he surely doesn't deserve to place his hands on another animal based on the way he talked and treated us and our dog today during this horrible process. We have been bringing our pets to Dr Cotton for years. The Staff is caring and always kind. The Dr.'s are knowledgeable and do really well at making it easy to understand the diagnosis and treatment options. When the time came that we had to help our fur babies on to the rainbow bridge, they were attentive and sensitive during the process. We have moved several times, and right now drive over 30 minutes to continue seeing the Dr's and staff at Brookwood. Making the appointment was easy and I got such good service on the phone that I felt safe and happy to take my pets to Brookwood. Once at the clinic we were treated well and everything went smoothly (it helped to fill out the online patient form!) we didn't have to wait long before it was our turn. The vet and the nurse were both sweet, caring, so calm and professional with the pets. We left, with two calm (considering the circumstances!) freshly vaccinated, thoroughly examined pets and two happy owners. We WILL go back. I wish I did not need to contact Brookwood but I did. I needed to put my dog down. I had been to Brookwood before and my family still takes all their pets there but since I moved I wanted a vet closer to my house. I am going back to Brookwood! I don't care how long of a drive it is. Back to my experience....I called the office first thing, the kindest most understanding lady answered my call. She asked me what time was best for me, didn't try to talk me into lab test or a way to "fix" my dog. She understood. I went to Brookwood with my dog, it was a drive I had dreaded only because I knew I was driving home alone. From the moment I went in I felt like family. They were the kindest most gentle staff I had ever seen. I stayed for the procedure, I couldnt let my dog go at it alone. They explained what was going to happen, his possible reactions so I was ready. It was the most calming, peaceful way to go and they held and rubbed him with me during the procedure. It was sad, I cried but I am more than grateful for what the staff and vet at Brookwood did for me and my beloved Max. A few days later they sent me a sympathy card in the mail and it just reenforced that they care. I will be taking my other dogs to them, it is well worth the few extra miles from home.Read Less

They mourned with me over the loss of my 19-year-old cat, and celebrated the ""adoption"" of my new one.
