It has taken me several months to write this review as the devastation one goes through upon the death of a pet has been difficult. Simply put, my one and a half year old yorkshire terrier died after months of vet visits with CareFirst that begin in February where the vet informed me during every visit that she was, and I quote, "perfectly healthy". They have very nice front desk people but frankly, I don't need nice people; I want intelligence, care, and competence in my vet and someone who will do everything in their power to save my dog's life. I very incorrectly assumed that CareFirst would possess the "caring" quality that their name inappropriately suggested. We took my dog to CareFirst multiple times between Feb to July because we noticed diarrhea and a decrease in activity and every checkup revealed nothing. Every single visit ended with the vet telling us she was "perfectly healthy". The diarrhea continued day after day and every checkup produced no results. We gave her dewormer once and then antibiotics. Nothing worked. We went on vacation for a week and left my dog in the caring hands of my mother. That Friday, my mom could tell she was very sick so she took her to CareFirst. They told her that she was dying and that she would need to pay several THOUSANDS of dollars for an overnight stay. Upon the vet's consultation with my mom, she was extremely rude to her and even referenced a medicine for my dog that she had said was a dewormer but was actually a completely different medicine alltogether! My mother caught her in the mess-up wherein she became even angrier and unprofessional. Her name is Dr. Lisa. My mother left and chose to drive the 5 hours to TN to visit her longtime vet there. I will be writing a review of Kingsport Veterinary Hospital's wonderful, intelligent, kind, and competent veterinarians very soon as I appreciate everything they did during that time. Not just one but three different vets saw my dog in Kingsport and immediately put her on IV. Not once did they give up on her, holding out hope that they would be able to heal her. She got a little better. She had auto-immune disease, enlarged liver, low blood count, the list goes on. On July 3, during my ride to TN to visit her, 4 hours in and 1 hour away, I get a call that she had a seizure and would not make it. She passed away and I wasn't able to see her. She would still be with me today if we had caught the illness sooner and CareFirst did their job correctly. She was my first dog and I miss my beloved pup dearly. I am very disappointed that I did not seek an alternate opinion after multiple visits with this terrible establishment that seeks to reassure the owner rather than inform and treat our animals' illness. Please do not make the same mistake I did; stay away from this vet hospital and seek the many other options of animalcare elsewhere. I will never return to CareFirst nor go to any of the chain locations in NC for fear of experiencing the same staggering incompetence of this Glenwood CareFirst Vet Hospital. Read Less
