We decided to try out this vet with our newest addition to the family. We took our puppy in for all her normal stuff two months ago and spent around $200. They were nice and seemed good, promising to call and remind us when to get her boosters.
I never got any reminder calls and ended up calling to find out we were two weeks over on her booster. The morning of her booster, we realized she had Happy Tail and promptly spent another $160 trying to help it. They're solution was to cone her and put her tail in a cover, which held a ton of moisture and despite the antibiotics, we had to return a second time after it got an infection and were prescribed more broad spectrum antibiotics, steroids (despite the risk of diabetes. I never gave them to her. I wanted it to be last resort since it holds so much risk.) and some solution (more money spent on all these drugs!). Then after buying all these drugs and solutions, I was told they almost never save tails like this and it will most likely be amputated. I asked about doing narrow spectrum antibiotics to kill the actual bug infecting her wound and was told that would be $100 and would be pointless since we had to wait for cultures. I was then told it was very expensive to amputate, and they wouldnt even tell me how much. I had to talk to a surgery technician person that wouldn't be available til Monday. That was a Friday, and they were expecting her tail to probably have to amputated Monday or Tuesday.
Well, I couldn't accept that and I made my own tea tree/lavender spray, stuck her in front of a fan and watched it heal. Never once did they call to see how she was or see how things were going with her even though they were expecting it to so bad by Monday that it would need the surgery.
Fast forward to today, about a week after our initial visit. We've spent almost $500 on this dog and we haven't even had her spayed yet...we've got her tail almost healed (no more infection or amputation!!!) no thanks to them since they just wanted to cut it off for a bunch of money. Then today, she poops some horrible looking black, hard stool with a HUGE worm in it. We had just had a fecal test done a week before, that we paid for, come back negative, yet a week later there are massive worms in her poop that certainly don't grow over night.
I called to see what could be done. They offered to run fecal test again, at our expense of course, despite them having just run one that they said was negative (obviously not). I explained to the woman on the phone that we had already put in almost $500 on this dog, part of which for issues that we were basically left to fix ourselves or amputate for a bunch more money. I told her, my school money had been delayed due to a processing error of the school's payment company, and my boyfriend got paid in 6 days. We had depleted all the money we had left on the month on all the problems popping up with the new dog. I asked if they would possibly be willing to bill us for the $20 fecal test just to make sure there wasn't something seriously wrong that would need to be taken care immediately. I told her we receive salaries in a week, but was promptly told they won't bill and hung up. I realize that not every vet should be expected to do this, but after already spending so much money, having her tests come back wrong, no reminder or check up calls, and pushes towards expensive surgeries for problems that I fixed myself, I got the feeling they really don't care about you or your pet, just how much money they're making off you. We'll definitely be looking for another vet's office.Read Less
