Fisher Veterinary Hospital cleaned my little 14 yo Yorkie's teeth without putting him to sleep.  I brush his teeth but he still gets lots of plaque. Dr. Fisher is the most ethical vet I have come across.  He will not take advantage of you and he does what is best for your pet.  This is NOT just another vet.  My previous vet wanted to do some things to my dog that Dr. Fisher said was unnecessary.  My dog is a healthy 14 year old but has had a few issues over the years.  Their pricing is very reasonable too. The vet was an hour late seeing me for my scheduled appointment. No apologies. It appears that only their time is valuable and no one else's. It also appears that everyone there is easily triggered. Emotionally charged atmosphere from the entire staff. As long as you do not do or say anything that "rocks the boat" you will be fine. Nothing earth shattering from this place. Read Less

Dr. Fisher is amazing. Caring, thoughtful, friendly, efficient and doesn't try to scalp you. We have been going to him for 8 years based on a friend's recommendation and would never go anywhere else. We never feel like he is trying to upsell us on procedures and he seems genuinely concerned about your pet - not making a buck. His staff is great, too. I cannot express enough how awesome this place is. My neighbor recommended him and said, be careful he'll kiss you pup. Sure enough he let her climb all around him and by the end of the visit she would rather sit with him then us!We were getting robbed by a different vet in town and he helped set things strait for us and for the first time since I got to Raleigh my bill was less than 75$. Best vet in the USA by far! I grew up taking care of horses in Ireland and was used to the "family farm Vet" who built a relationship with you and your animals as opposed to the business orientated Vet that is so prevalent nowadays. Dr. Fisher puts animals and people first, closest thing I've come to the "family farm vet". I would highly recommend Dr. Fisher for all your pets and animals needs. My fiance and I took our 9 week old husky puppy for her first visit to the vet today since we picked her up last week. A friend recommended Dr. Fisher. The experience couldn't have been any better. As soon as we walked in he treated us and our puppy like he had known us for years. He was informed and informative, reasonable as far as prices and really cared about all of us. He gave us advice on rearing a puppy and told us to ""call anytime with questions and that no question with a new puppy is a stupid one"". Our puppy loved him too. He took time to develop a rapport with her before just giving her shots and us the bill. She didn't feel a thing. I feel lucky to have stumbled across this vet. Read Less

We had recently arrived in town and realized we were out of our dog's arthritis medicine. We called Dr. Fisher's office to ask to have the prescription filled. We were told the first available appointment to see the vet was in four days as they would not prescribe the medicine until she had been examined. We agreed but asked if our dog could have four pills to get her through until the appointment. The receptionist refused and the manner in which she did so was extremely rude. We would not recommend this office based on telephone/ receptionist service alone! Read Less

I'd vote for this man for President. He's bright (Tufts), funny, compassionate, really wonderful with his furry patiennts, a good business manager, and someone you might want as a good friend. His staff have been with him for years, and so have many of his patients. I'm in my 60's. I've always had pets, both dogs and cats, and for some reason strays seem to find me. I've taken Dr. Joel a few lost souls along the way and he's been gracious enough to find them really wonderful homes, although I know it was a bit of an inconvenience - he's always very busy. When I discovered a 2-week old kitten under a pile of trash in an abandoned house I was inspecting -- half-furred, eyes not open yet, no sign of mom, and squalking like a wounded sea-gull -- I slipped her into my pocket and headed straight for Dr. Joel's office. He set me up with a tiny little bottle, a recipe for some sort of kitten pudding, and instructions to feed her a few drops every few hours. Now she's 13 and sleek, healthy and spunky as can be. Dr. Joel calls her ""pooter."" This Vet Hospital is not fancy, and it's not on the way to anywhere I usually go - matter of fact its several miles out of my way, but I wouldn't go anywhere else if you paid me. We have taken our Miniature Schnauzer to Dr Fisher since he was 5 weeks old (he is now 10 yrs old) He and his staff are the best! They seem to really care about the animals and are always willing to help. We now have a 5 month old malti poo we take to Dr Fisher as well. Read Less

Fisher Vet rocks. If you're looking for a place to take your favorite 4-legged pal, I recommend trying Dr. Fisher and his staff. They are great to deal with and are very happy to answer any questions. Dr. Fisher even returned my phone call after hours one night! He is a no-nonsense vet -- he believes in doing what's necessary for your pet's well being, but not pushing procedures, etc. that aren't needed. When you first visit the facility don't be alarmed that Fisher Vet is not the "Taj Mahal" of vet offices -- it's nothing fancy to look at; however, you will reap the benefit of that in the way of much more reasonable prices than other area vet offices. The vet owns the place, it's a one-man shop, and it's clean. Fisher Vet does boarding as well, but they are getting so busy in that regard that they're moving to a policy of "clients only" for boarding. They also do grooming and sell various pet items. I am so relieved that a friend of mine recommended Dr. Fisher and his staff to me. He spent almost an hour meeting with me and examining my English bulldog. I left his office with such a wonderful feeling of calm and I am confident that Dr. Fisher's advice will help me to keep my dog in optimal condition. I went to him with my cats at the recommendation of 2 friends. He was all they said - he made a fuss over the cats. I was impressed that his charges were so reasonable and that he wasn't pushing things like yearly ""senior citizen"" pet tests, heartworm tests, etc. He said he uses ""common sense"" and is upset by what people are being charged for elsewhere. I just moved here from NY and asked around for a good vet because my pup needed x-ray. I was quoted $450 in NY because of anesthesia cost. Dr. Fisher didn't need to put him under and didn't take more than he needed so it cost me $50!! Also I haven't brought in my other dog yet but I called to ask a question about him and he was willing to answer it with out saying ""I need to bring him in"" and waste my money! 100% recommend him even if you have to travel an hour! Dr. Fisher and his staff are absolutely the best! I appreciate that Dr. Fisher has kept his old but very well kept building instead of building new and charging exorbiant rates. The staff know all the animal names, ages, what they like and dislike. Dr. Fisher treated our old Pug for cancer and I came in one day and he had put ice cubes in Gus's water because ""he likes it that way."" Which I did not know. Even though Gus did not make it I always felt he got the best of care with Dr. Fisher. So, keep those dogs and cats and other pets coming to the best vet in the USA! Read Less

As soon as you walk in the door, Dr. Fisher and his staff know each of our pets by name, which is quite a feat considering we have 2 dogs and 6 cats. Dr. Fisher and his staff are gentle, knowledgeable, and understanding of both pet and owner needs and concerns. We take both of our dogs there for boarding and grooming.
