I've been taking my cats here since I moved to Raleigh about four years ago. Before that, one of my cats had chronic digestive issues that made her vomit and have diarrhea regularly. No other vet could figure out how to control it. Like the other vets, Dr Duffy diagnosed her with IBS, but unlike the other vets, Dr. Duffy knew how to treat her. It was an unconventional regimen of medication (now only given every other week) and food that treated completely the opposite problem (obesity), but at that point, I was willing to try anything. So happy to say my cat's weight finally increased and stabilized, and she's been a happy kitty for several years now. Meanwhile, my other cat got his paws on some toxins, that we still can't identify. He was initially treated at a hospital and sent home. He wasn't recovering, so I took him to Dr. Duffy. Unfortunately, his kidneys were failing past the point of recovery. Dr. Duffy let me come in on the weekend to spend my last time with him. She was so supportive and caring; she really felt the loss personally, unlike any other vet I've known. Dr. Duffy and her staff really care about their patients and their parents. I couldn't recommend this place more. Read Less

I'm posting simply to inform others that this vet does not service cats who eat a raw food diet. When I made the appointment for my cat, who is sick and needed to be seen asap, I was NOT informed that this was a policy. If the doctor is so strongly opinionated about it, it should be made clear to new patients over the phone. Instead, I was rudely talked down to and informed that I was being an "unsafe" mother by allowing my child to be in the same home as an animal that eats raw food. Now I have to haul my sick cat back home and find someone else to help us. Please note, I am in no way rating her skill, but I believe the situation could have been handled better. She is entitled to her opinion on raw food, as I am mine, but I felt verbally attacked. That's never ok. Just so no one else gets their time wasted, make sure you know they do not accept patients who feed their cats the biologically appropriate diet of raw food. Read Less

Dr. Duffy's is the best vet I've ever been to! This is the first "cat only" practice I've been to, and I highly recommend it. My cat is always scared enough when she has to leave the house, and it's so much nice to not have to contend with barking dogs. I was very impressed with Dr. Duffy. I took my cat in for a bladder issue that she was experiencing as a result of a recent diet change. Dr. Duffy did a thorough check-up, administered IV fluids in the office(other vet never did this), and explained everything in great detail(or this). What impressed me most was that she knew WHY my cat was responding poorly to certain foods, and offered a real solution rather than just pumping her full of antibiotics and shuffling us out of the office(looking at you Banfield). She also immediately recognized a heart murmur that the previous vet failed to, as well as a bone deformity. You can tell that Dr. Duffy is passionate about helping cats live their best lives. She spent nearly 45 minutes with me, was fantastic, and the visit still ended up being nearly $50 less than my other vet, and that included the visit, a prescription, a bag of food, and treats. Both she and her vet tech/receptionist were very kind. I will definitely be switching to her for all of my cat's future needs. Read Less

Looking for a second opinion on a thyroid issue we went to the Raleigh Cat Clinic.Dr Duffy, took some bloodwork, she said the same thing as any other vet about my cat. Took him off the thyroid medicine for a less than a week, then called to tell us to put him back on it.A month later, when we called for a script refill the person that answered the phone said they would fill it at our local pharm. The next day I went to pick up the script and it had been cancelled. I had to call the vet for an explanation. They said my cat needed to be seen again before the script could be filled. I told them my I had no meds for my cat now after two days of goose chasing at the pharmacy. She agreed to fill it for 10 days, Dr. Duffy informed me she would do this. I happened to be enroute to an ER vet because my cat wasnt having a good day. I told the ER vet about my experience with Dr Duffy.  The ER vet offered to fill the thyroid meds for me, I declinded because Dr Duffy said she was filling it. later that night back at the pharmacy, it had been cancelled again. I brought my cat in for vaccines and pre surgery blood work for a dental cleaning. Dr. Duffy conducted the examination and while doing so, I mentioned that my cat was eating a raw diet. She immediately stopped what she was doing and said that she wouldn't be able to see him anymore because of a contamination risk to she and her staff. She immediately told her technician to wash her hands and they were already beginning to disinfect the room. I felt that they couldn't get us checked out fast enough. While I understand that not all veterinarians may agree with the raw diet, I felt the situation was handled very inappropriately. If feeding my cat a commercially prepared raw diet is unacceptable, then this question needs to be asked upfront when a new patient requests an appointment so as not to waste my time and theirs. I was very disappointed in the way my cat and I were treated in this situation. Read Less

The couple became irrational and irate (the female screaming repeatively "i wish i could sh*t on your floor) when sean informed them it would take just a moment before the restroom was ready since he needed to move Dr Duffys cat out of there. Dr Duffy then tried to very professionally defuse the situation by explaining that her cat was in the restroom for the day due to her being a very shy girl. It was a very intense and scary situation i was greatfull for sean being there helping keep us safe. Finally Mrs Rineharts husband had to drag her out of the office she was so irate. She truly cares about the cats she treats and advocates for them no matter what. Her prices are excellent and she has never once tried to "upsell" or convince us we needed something unnecessary just to make money from us. Absolutely recommend this vet! We've been taking our cats to Dr. Duffy for about 10 years, and couldn't be happier. We also have a dog, and although we could take our cats the the vet that sees our dog, we appreciate the fact that taking our cats into a dog-free environment when they're already stressed from going to the vet is a huge plus. Dr. Duffy and her staff have always displayed compassion and care for our cats. This was especially evident when our Siamese was diagnosed with carcinoma of the lung years ago. Dr. Duffy helped with the referral to the specialty veterinarian, and was there to answer questions when we were dealing with some tough decisions. We also had one of our cats develop severe urinary cystitis eight years ago, and thanks to Dr. Duffy emergently seeing him and immediately diagnosing the problem, he's still with us today. He was in critical condition when we got him to her, and are so thankful that we had an experienced feline specialist to diagnose and treat him. We've never waiting more than 5-10 minutes after arriving to see Dr. Duffy, and her office is clean (a big plus). We always enjoy the resident cat sitting up by the front counter :-) Our family highly recommends The Raleigh Cat Clinic. We wouldn't take our cats anywhere else. Read Less

My cat is sick and is suddenly losing weight, but I decided to try this vet out since it was closer to my home than my old vet. This turned out to be a mistake, because things went wrong from the very beginning. After taking my information and cat's history in the LOBBY, we were directed to sit in a very sparse exam room. I was also instructed to keep my cat in her carrier, which my cat doesn't like, but I figured we wouldn't be waiting long, so it would be ok. 40 minutes later, Dr. Duffy finally came in. She didn't introduce herself or apologize for the delay. She asked me again what was wrong with my cat, then read read my cat's file, making me wait for her while she did so. She obviously wasn't prepared for my visit. When it came time to check my cat, she opened the carrier, waited for literally seconds, then dumped my cat out of her carrier onto the table. My cat is extremely calm and cooperative, so there's no need to force her out of her carrier when she would've come out with a few more seconds. (She was lying in the carrier with her legs tucked under her--it takes time to unfold herself!) Dr. Duffy then manhandled her during the exam. After a less than five minute physical exam, she shoved my cat back in her carrier. Dr. Duffy then outlined her course of treatment, which included bloodwork, x rays, sedation, an overnight stay, and something she described as a ""black liquid that will clean out your cat's bowels."" She didn't even know if anything was obstructing my cat's bowels, but she recommended something to clean them out? That doesn't make sense to me. All in all, it was over $350 in services. I asked her to explain why my cat needed all these procedures, and she evaded my question. I paid the $46 visit fee and left, thinking that I just paid $46 to wait for 40 minutes and a 5 minute exam. I'm going to find another vet. Read Less

This vet has the worst bedside manner of anyone I've ever seen. She was not a good listener, and she became argumentative when I tried to explain my cat's history. She was arrogant and treated me as if I was a child. She became obviously angry and upset with me - apparently because I could not give the dates of my cat's 10 year history. At various points she implied that I was telling lies about my cat's prior treatment. She never explained why she was so angry with me. She was actually shaking (!) with anger in the exam room - and I do not know why. I also do not know how a vet could get that upset. She did not curse at me (thank goodness because my toddler was with me) but her tone was definitely loud and rude. We both agreed that she was not the vet for me; however, by the time I left I was in tears. I have never felt compelled to write a review on a business before but this was the worst experience I've had in a long time and do not think others should have to go through this with her. I do not yet know where to recommend as I have not found one yet.

My mind goes numb thinking about this experience.I cannot recommend this establishment. Read Less

Read Less

We had a diabetic cat & we were there a LOT, trying to keep her diabetes under control. Dr. Duffy & her staff have been WONDERFUL & obviously cared for our cats. Her rates are reasonable & her staff is efficient. Our furbabies have been treated with gentleness & kindness & don't mind going to see their doctor. While we were out of town, our elderly diabetic cat had a stroke & was suffering. When we were given no hope of her recovery by the local vet, so we had her put to sleep. The staff and even the other clients have come to be friends and even family to me, throughout the years and I always recommend Dr Duffy any chance I get. My cat can be a handful and doesn't like too many people, but is always comfortable around Dr. Duffy and the staff and has always been treated well and taken care of.

Read Less
