Friday 11/8/19- Kobe is throwing up a slimy & white foamy substance multiple times today. Saturday 11/9/19-Kobe has terrible diarrhea. Sunday 11/10/19- I woke up to let Kobe out and found blood all in his crate. Rushed to Reidsville Veterinary Hospital. I was well aware it would be a higher cost because it was during emergency hours. The vet assistant was short, had shoulder length dirty-blonde hair, and was extremely rude. I cannot remember her name. She took Kobe to run blood tests, xrays, and a stool sample. She left the door open so we heard her contradicting us tell her about blood in his stool. She claimed she never found any. I have photos of his crate from that morning. She came back with Dr. Shinew and said that he has pancreatitis and showed us an xray indicating blockage in his stomach. She gave us an option to let him stay or we take him home. Of course my dog is in pain , so I agreed for them to keep him and figure out what was wrong with him. The vet assistant asked twice what our financial limit was and we didn’t have one, at the time. She said they would insert Barium into Kobe to see if he truly does have a blockage and that would determine if they need surgery. They charged me $1,000 for a down payment to keep and treat him. Dr. Shinew called me back around 5pm and said the Barium indicates a blockage because it hasn’t moved like it should. She stated they would have to do surgery to remove the foreign objects. At 5:33pm they called back and said they need a $2,000 down payment before the begin on surgery. At 7:34pm I received a call from Shinew saying surgery went great. There was no foreign matter to remove (which is what the surgery was for), but his stomach lining was rubbery so they took a sample to send off to the labs. Dr. Shinew stated it was unusual for a dog to have a rubbery stomach lining. She never said what it could be or what she was testing for. She mentioned that I would receive a refund due to her not having to remove anything foreign. I personally feel that they removed a sample of his stomach lining to make it seem like the surgery was necessary. What happened to the foreign materials we were shown in his xray? We asked numerous times and nobody could give a solid answer. Monday 11/11/19- I called to check on Kobe at 11:35am. They said he’s doing fine , except they are syringe feeding him. They said if he keeps up the good work that he will be able to come home on Tuesday 11/12/19. Tuesday-I called at 9:28AM to check on Kobe. They said he pooped and he’s doing great so I can pick him up no later than 8pm. I was told that he was still being fed by syringe and they would show me how to feed him properly. At 5:30pm I tell the secretary I’m there to pick up Kobe. She calls to the back and tells them I’m up front. A very sweet lady with tattoos on her arms and long hair in a ponytail came up front to bring us to the back. We asked her about the xrays and she said she wasn’t knowledgeable about them. She went over the discharge instructions and walked us back up front. We get back up front and the secretary tells us we have a remaining balance of $58.53. We became furious. We told them that we were mentioned something about a refund. They secretary said she would notify her office manager, Kathe Nagy. Ms. Nagy came up front and asked why we were upset. We said we were promised a refund so why do we still owe and that the surgery was pointless because he was opened up for something we never agreed on. The point of the surgery was to remove foreign materials. Magically, there wasn’t any foreign materials when the surgery occurred. If he had a bowl movement, why continue with the surgery? Do another xray(they’re way cheaper than surgery.) Ms. Nagy, the office manager, then said that they removed a sample of his stomach lining to test for possible cancer. WHY IS A OFFICE MANAGER TELLING ME THIS. The vet never said ANYTHING about this when we communicated over the phone, multiple times. Ms. Nagy refused to give a refund or even apologize for anything that was conducted wrongfully in that office. When Kobe got into my arms, I could feel his spine, literally. His upper body was bigger than his lower body. When he first arrived there he weighed 7.4lbs, even after his diarrhea and vomiting episodes. When he came back into my care, he weighed 5.6lbs. Nearly a 2lb weight loss! How ridiculous. I am NEVER returning to this office to participate in ANY future business with them. Read Less

We understand when your pet is sick you want competent and immediate care. When you brought Kobe to our office he was vomiting and had diarrhea. Test were ran and the doctor concluded from the results that it looked like the barium was not moving completely out of the stomach. From that point she felt the best course of action was to do exploratory surgery to see if there was foreign body. You were contacted and agreed to the procedure. Dr Shinew did not find a foreign body, but during the procedure, she did notice an abnormality in the stomach lining and took out a sample. You were contacted and approved the histopathology. The biopsy was sent to the lab for a pathologist to review. When we do an exploratory surgery, we are never sure what we will find. When you arrived to pick up Kobe, you questioned the receptionist about a refund. There was no mention in the doctor's notes, so the receptionist asked me. I read through the record to see if I could figure out what you were referring to. Doctor Shinew was not here when you picked up Kobe, so I asked one of the other doctors if she was familiar with the case. She said that the stomach did not look normal and they had wondered if it was possibly cancer. That was what I relayed to you. I asked why you were expecting a refund since Dr. Shinew did the surgery and sent out samples for analysis. As far as I could tell, since there was no foreign body you were expecting a refund. I thought you understood that even though they didn't find a foreign body they still preformed the surgery. You paid for the services that you agreed to so, I am not sure why I was expected to apologize for anything. As far as Kobe's alleged weight loss, I went back to his records and checked when he came in, he weighed 5.4 not 7.4 which was corrected the day he came in, so he actually gained .2lb probably from the IV fluids. I am sorry if there was a miscommunication or if you felt that we somehow charged you for services that were not preformed. I love this place! I live about 30 mins away and most of the time go to a vet, much closer. But I have only been there twice, the first time my yorkie was pregnant and we wanted an ultrasound. I'm giving a 5 star review. I made a house call appointment for my furbaby Cuttie. Dr.Baltutis and her assistant Katelin were nothing short of amazing. They were very gentle and loving towards my baby girl and i. Cuttie got her wings today and she is at peace at the RAINBOW BRIDGE. I'm very pleased that things went well and my baby is no longer suffering. I truly appreciate all the things they did to make this experience the best for my baby Cuttie and i. Dr Baltutis and Katelin, are the best and truly appreciate and understand what the owners are going through. I was informed of each step that was going to take place. We traveled to the area for our sons to compete in a sporting competition and we were unable to find a hotel that allowed pets, so we arranged to board our 11 pound Havanese at Reidsville Veterinary Hospital. We were extremely pleased with every aspect of their service. Communicating with them was easy and always very friendly, and sending our pet's medical records to them was also very easy. They had everything entered before we arrived so check-in was a breeze. Most importantly, the staff was very caring towards our pet, asking great questions about her preferences, helping us understand what care she would receive, and spending some time with her and us together before we had to leave. The facility is impressive - very clean, spacious and odor free - and also very modern. It looks better than most human clinics! Rates were very reasonable, and there was a menu of extra services to select - we opted for a bath and additional play time beyond what they already provide. When we picked her up, she was happy to see us of course, but she also seemed like she'd had a great time - not straining to leave or shaking. This weekend I hit a dog while driving to church. I called this place and they told me I could bring him in. He was pretty bad, broken legs and a lot of open wounds. It's been 5 days and he's looking so much better, they think he's going to make a full recovery. Everyday someone has given me a update on his health and recovery. I couldn't ask for anything more, they have been amazing! I have decided to adopt the dog once he gets out of the hospital, I've been searching for the owner for about a week. I am going to name him "Joe", since the doctor who saved him is named "Joe". My new dog Joe will always be a client of this place, we are lucky to have a vet hospital like this in our surrounding areas. Read Less

Very disappointed!! There is no words to describe the love of your pet. My story goes like this. My dog is 5 years old he has been going there since 2011 for all his needs. He even gets groomed there which is $45.00 each time and he goes about every month or every other month. He gets a physical every 6 months. I guess my sign should have been when I got him neutered at the animal clinic in 2012. They were offering it for $30.00 so I took them up on the offer. However, he went to a vet in Greensboro only to get a call to say that my dog had a herna that needed repaired. Which he has been to Reidsville vet 1week before going to Greensboro to get updated shots and his well check needless to say no one ever told me he had a hernia. But this place has lost my respect I have spent thousands of dollars there. My dog had kidney stone surgery. I can't help but think something went wrong. They keep him for 5 days and 4 nights.. The staff even stated to me I wondered why he was still here!! The staff is very nice. However, my dog will be check out this week by another vet to make sure he has no damage to his uretha and bladder!! And for this place to be so concerned about my dog not one phone call about how he is doing has come from this office. The office manager has yet to call me regarding my concerns about the amount of money that I paid and or to explain the bill to me. Not sure how they charge $44.00 for a room fee then keep your dog and charge you $54.00 all in the same day. And yes some of the staff is trained however all of them are not certified. Very disappointed in this facility. My 14 year old bloated at 3am in the morning and she did not have much time and was suffering bad. I called and begged for them to see her because we did not have time to make it anywhere else. They refused and my poor dog died shortly after. UPDATE: I read your answer and you are wrong!!! I did talk to a vet and begged to at least euthanize my dog so she wouldn't suffer anymore and he refused. You are not telling the truth. Read Less

Recently I have been on the phone "A LOT fixing problems" .... I had a rabbis tag and collar to go missing off my Great Pyrenees...... NOT GOOD , these dogs roaming around our place is 22.2 acres and it is not big enough for them. They go to creeks to swim, we have to walk a lot to check on them with the goats. Getting to the point, being on the phone for HOURS to get something done it just wears you down, and well, at Christmas wanting to do other things, well, you have a very efficient worker Ashley just did the work, just did the work, well THAT'S GREAT!!!! This angle fixed the problem and I was on the phone.... what 5 minutes and it was done .....And I did not have to repeat myself, call back to office, get anything, ....and it did not cost me a dime. My fur babies Mandy, Brandy, Tandy Missy, Bailey and Meisha loves going to the clinic for their check ups and vaccines. Recently my oldest baby Mandy was terribly sick and I immediately rushed her to Reidsville. They discovered she was severely sick from eating duck poop out of my yard. They needed to empty her stomach instantly and started her on fluids. Later that evening she was feeling so much better. A couple Years ago my dog Missy Broke her back when getting struck by a vehicle. Dr Kinnarney saved her life by repairing her broken back. Needless to say, I've got many wonderful stories about reidsville vet clinic. Two of my Baby girls are due for their check ups next month and I can tell you both girls will be very excited to head there. I wish I could post the actual names of the personel that I had the displeasure of dealing with today, but I know I'd get in trouble. I took my cat in because he wasn't feeling well and suspected some sort of minor infection and asked for antibiotics for anUTI. To my utter amazement, the very unprofessional and uncaring "vet" wanted to put my cat to sleep because she "thought" he had pancreatitis .....this is even BEFORE any bloodwork and urine tests were done. Then she wanted $400 for tests which is nothing short of obscene profiteering, so I asked for the blood and urine samples and took it to my work in Burlington and ran a bllod count, urinalysis and CHEM24 test. Results came positive for leukocytes and protein in the urine which indicates a UTI. Ithen took the results back and asked for the antibiotic for which they charged me $30. I hope you read this....YOU KNOW WHO you are. $200 for and office visit and $30.00 for an antibiotic. Shame on you, you're pathetically inept, rude and unqualified to be in practice. I had called around for pricing and availability for getting my "Stormy" spayed, she is a Irish Setter so naturally I wanted the best for her, when I heard that Reidsville Veterinary Hospital was doing Laser Surgery I knew right then that this was the best thing around my area, and I would even wait to get an appointment. I spoke with a very helpful young woman named Jennifer that took care of everything, she even squeezed me in for that very same week, I could not believe it! Stormy stayed overnight and came home the very next morning, she had less bleeding, less pain, and less swelling because of the laser surgery they offered. What was even better was the fact that it only cost $35 more than a regular spay, which is fantastic!!
