I recently came in to RAH for the purpose of having my 13.5 year old lab put down. This was the first time I had to do this with a pet and I'd like to say thank you to all the staff for their demonstration of support and kindness. Knowing this is not an easy thing to do, both me and my lab were treated with dignity and respect despite the fact I was not a client of theirs. I'm sure we will have another pet down the road once we are ready, and when that time comes we have already pledged out loyalty to Dr. Sabins and his staff to care for pets. That's the kind of impression they made and the deep appreciation we have for their professional yet personal handling of this matter for us. Thank You! Read Less

The female vet didnt bother to call us or even look in my dogs chart to see this was nothing new.  I have meds for this problem.  Something i could have told her had she bothered to call before charging me. Been going here for years even before owners changed. My girlfriend called to ask them why he had blood in his urine and she was told he needed antibiotics and it would cost $160 for the exam and medication. We carried him up there a completely healthy little puppy and he came home with these issues. She called another vet and they said they would do the same thing for $30 so we took him there. In my opinion they should have treated him after what they did created this problem. It's ridiculous to know they were going to charge us that much money to fix there mistake. All 3 of my pets, Zeke, Beau and Katy Scarlett are patients of RAH. I highly recommend the Canine Health Plan both Beau (4) and Katy Scarlett (9mo) are on the plan and I cannot begin to tell you the money I have saved. 10/3/2016 Katy Scarlett had been sick vomiting and diarrhea for 2 days when she started to pass blood. I called first thing Monday morning and she was seen at 11:30. I was hot mess, crying and consumed with worry when I arrived. The staff was wonderful by calming my fears and ensuring that every thing will be ok. The outcome was a nasty virus that aggravated her colon, she was sent home with antibiotics and 24 hours later my puppy is back terrorizing her fur siblings. I would also like to note that with all of my anxiety I left my pocketbook at work and didn't have a way to pay the invoice but instead was able to call them back with payment once I retrieved my pocketbook. My puppy was his by a car while under someone else's care while I was out of town. His leg was broken and he was taken to Roxboro. 1. They said they knew it was broken but wouldn't provide help until we made a 450$ deposit. 2. Charged us 40$ 3 days later to literal look at it and say it was positioned right. 3. Told us it didn't need to be changed for 3 weeks ( over vets have told us it should have been changed weekly) 4. Them not having us bring him for weekly change caused infection. Now in two meds and a change 2 times a week 5. Called to schedule change because it got wet( can worsen infection) Dr. Said it was not priority and could wait a week. 5. Wanted to sedate him just to change bandage which is an unnessisary 120$ extra. 2 other vets changed it and did x rays without the need to sedate. Been taking my Boxers here for 10 years and used to receive great service. However since they built there new building the customer service has been declining. I just paid them $1200 to remove 3 tumors and complete some dental work on Gunner only to return 3 days later to have the stitches re-done and another $200 + dollar bill for something I feel was not done to standard. I addresses theses concerns when we picked him up the first time and was told he will be fine just bring him back in 10 days. We asked if he was on an antibiotic and was told no he did not need it... After the 2nd visit today he was given an antibiotic and the vet stated his leg would not heal with out it... Why did you not give him this the first time??? To be clear we did not see Dr. Sabins as he is Gunners usual Vet and has always been great. He cared for our dogs and treated them like they where his own He has always provided a level of service we where comfortable with and come expect, however the new Vet does not live up to the level of service we have experienced in the past from Roxboro Animal Hospital. Our cat Odie, became suddenly ill and we rushed him to Roxboro Animal Hospital. While there lab work and a x-Ray was completed in hopes of finding out what was going on. He was kept at the hospital under observation. After an uneventful day he was sent home as we were waiting lab results. The next day, Odie had not gotten better, in fact his condition had worsened. This required a return to Roxboro Animal Hospital and they promptly took him back to the exam room. During the day he required more intervention, (warming blankets, IV fluids, lab work, x-ray and medications). During the day and night we were provided detailed updates on his condition. While there Dr. Sabins and the dedicated staff did all they could to ensure he was well taken care of and ensured his last days were as comfortable as possible. New to the area & in need of a vet. when our 90 lb. Labradoodle took very sick and very quickly on a Sunday afternoon during off hours (we almost believed him to be bitten by a snake or possibly poisoned as quickly as all occurred). We were relieved to see cars in the lot as were were in route to an Emergency Care Vet in Durham & coming from Semora the emer. vet was still far away. Obviously due to the distance we took a chance on stopping by the closed office. The sweet young vet. techs called the vet & had one on the phone. They relayed the information given by me to the vet. The vet didn't even consider coming to the office. Is their not a 2nd vet. with this practice that might have come had a call been made? Having been in the Dental field for 30 years, We are in the business of "keeping people healthy" but when emergency's arise (which is why they are called "emergency's") and which by the way, happen all the time, we need to remember exactly the oath we have taken as health care professionals. INCONVENIENT SOMETIMES! BUT............"REWARDING NON THE LESS TO HANDLE THE SITUATION AT HAND"! My ole boy won't be around much longer. His medical history was irrelevant from the time he was turned away @ Roxboro Animal Hospital. He was eventually handled by TRUE PROFESSIONALS who were KIND, CARING & THOROUGH in their diagnosis! Our ole boy has given us many years of delight! We have another little guy at home & last Sunday (once again off hours) dealt with probably one of the sickest strays or dogs we've EVER seen in our lifetime. Starved beyond belief & describing him as skin & bones would be an overstatement, he also had no hair. It was an ugly turn in our Father's Day events but we handled the situation & celebrated another day. (Roxboro closed) Yep none of our $$$ will EVER come here! BIG THUMBS DOWN FOR THIS PRACTICE! I'd like to make a suggestion for this practice. It would be beneficial in such a Rural area to not only have someone "on call" but to get involved in the "good Samaritan program" offered thru the ASPCA. It was explained to us that the program would "assess the strays situation" and barring any bad sicknesses they would nurture the stray "back to health". Apparently this is where fund raised $$ go to! They did take a small fee from us which we graciously contributed upon surrendering the stray. I sincerely hope ya'll take some time to "make a difference"! In our world in general & with our overpopulation epidemic & stray concerns of country living. Signed "the little person in the world" Read Less

For this we will always be grateful!Read Less
