September 23, 2018 - I have used Riverbark many times in the past, even when it was named Manchester Animal Hospital, and I have always loved Doctor Jenny. In the past, she has been very kind to my dogs and treated me with respect. However, this last time I took my dog to her, she wanted to simply brush me off with a couple of pills and send me on my way.
My dog had been coughing and unfortunately, it sounded like either heartworms or possibly heart failure. Doctor Jenny wasn't even going to run a heartworm test! I asked her about the test, and she was going to brush me away again by telling me that it was very expensive. I pressed the issue, and she said it was $45. Too expensive???
I told her that I wanted the heartworm test, so an assistant took my dog out of the room, and I guess they ran the test on him. (I mean how do you really know WHAT they do with your pets since they no longer treat them in your presence: They take the pets away from you and to a different room to treat them.)
Doctor Jenny came back amazingly quickly (too quick for a blood test if you ask me....) and told me that there were no heartworms. So...I proceeded to ask her about heart failure, and she smiled falsely and talked to me as if I was child saying that if it were anything to do with the heart, she would hear a heart murmur, and she did not hear a heart murmur.
I wanted to press the issue of getting an x-ray done because I was not convinced (as Doctor Jenny seemed to be) that my dog's problem was no big deal. He had been coughing, acting like he cannot breathe at times, and had lost a LOT of weight. But when I started to ask her about it....she simply began walking towards the door, told me to try the pills she gave me, and call her if they did not work.
ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! If they do not work, my dog could die! Well, it has been six days, and my dog is STILL coughing and acting like he cannot breathe at times. But I will NOT be taking him back to Doctor Jenny. I will be taking him elsewhere. I truly felt like Doctor Jenny treated me like some poor, ignorant person that did not deserve her time. Well, believe me, I will not be "wasting her time" anymore. My dog is my baby, and I was willing to do whatever it took to get him better. I will be taking him somewhere else where the people will treat me and him with respect and dignity.
For many people, their pets are their babies. I am one of those people, and it only takes one bad experience such as the one I described above for them to take their business elsewhere. Just as parents would not allow a second chance after a bad experience with a medical practitioner, pet parents will not either.
October 27, 2018 - This is an update to my review. The medicine that Doctor Jenny gave me for my dog did nothing, and in fact, my dog got worse. He got to the point where he was coughing almost constantly. True to my words, I did not take him back to Riverbark: instead, I took him to Reilly Road Animal Hospital. Unlike Doctor Jenny, who did not listen to anything I said, Doctor Stephenson actually listened to me and took my concerns seriously. He listened to Meepster's heart, and there WAS a heart murmur!! He did a blood test and a chest x-ray and determined that it was, indeed, heart failure as I had feared.
The time I wasted taking Meepster to Doctor Jenny and waiting to see if some stupid cough pills and antibiotics would help him, only made his condition worse. Furthermore, the money I gave Doctor Jenny ($156) could have paid for Meepster's heart medication for a month. I will never, ever take any of my dogs back to Riverbark, and I will never, ever recommend them to anyone either. Meepster is now on three different heart medications, and his coughing has stopped. However, his condition went on too long without medication, so...he likely does not have long left to live.

Dr. Jenny and her staff are awesome. I was not happy with the vet I had been using. They were not getting to the root of my kittys issue, but were charging me a pretty penny anyway. A coworker suggested Riverbark and Dr. Jenny. I've never looked back. She is a caring and compassionate veterinarian, reasonably priced and does not recommend unnecessary treatments. The office always accommodates me, even when it's a last minute request. She is the best in this area and I highly recommend her.

If you care about your pet....DON'T VISIT THIS PLACE!! On my first visit to Riverbark Veterinary Hospital, Kim, the Vet Tech, wanted to use the biggest poop sample tool on my toy poodle. I had to tell her that the tool was too big for him and to go get a small one, which she proceed to tell me that they don't usually use the small tools, but went to "search" for one, mind you my dog only weighs 1.5 lbs. Today on my second appointment for the parvo shot, Kim the vet tech, grabbed the needle and she pinched the skin. The needle went through his skin and she didn't notice and all the liquid ended up on the table. My dog was crying in pain. She then went back to get another needle to retry the shot. This place is very disorganized, not hygenic and their staff seem either untrained or they are uncaring. I also called them after my appointment today and asked for the supervisor and I was met with attitude and disregard for my concerns. I would never visit this place again. If you care about your pets then this place is not for you.

We are coming from a different vet, and wow my dog was so much calmer. The dr came in and my dog was so calm and not even scared. They are so gentle and great the dogs. I 100% recommend riverbark to anyone.

I will NEVER take my animals anywhere else. The staff is awesome/friendly/welcoming from the time you walk in to the time you walk out, the facility is clean/spacious/organized, and Dr. Jenny is the most kind/gracious/welcoming/loving veterinarian I have ever met. I've had dogs and cats my entire life and have encountered tons of veterinarians and clinics alike, but none as special as this one. If you live in this area, I would very highly and only recommend Riverbark (and I've used others in the immediate area). What more could you ask for in regards to your pets care? A friendly staff? Check. Affordable prices? Double check. A dependable and trustworthy vet who will undoubtedly make you feel like she loves your pet more than any other pet? I can guarantee it. I was super nervous going here because we just moved to the area and had seen an AMAZING vet in our last home, so my standards were high. I have two cats and one is pretty old & high maintenance so a good vet is important to me. Dr. Jenny is phenomenal!! Excellent bedside manner, was super sweet to my cats and comforted the one very anxious cat, gave me some good information and answered all my questions, and then told me a really cool story because I am "a cat person too" and wanted to share her excitement. It was a great experience and I am so glad I took my boys to meet her.

The boarding suites have cameras that you can watch while you are away. The dogs are let out pretty regularly for an extended length of time so they aren't cooped up all day. I highly recommend this place if your doggies need a place to stay.

Best vet I’ve ever been to. Dr. Jen is great. We have 2 German Shepherds and one is pretty aggressive. They took great care of her and weren’t forceful in any matter. They’re compassionate vets and they take their time. If you have a scheduled appointment you’ll be seen at that time not waiting in line for an hour like some vets. We recently moved back up North and it has been impossible to find a vet as good as Riverbark. Some vets just do it for a profession and for the good money. These vets genuinely care about your animals and will do anything to their power to help you. Highly recommend!

I'm very disappointed in the vet techs and the ladies at the front desk of Riverbark. Not every dog comes in will be the happy-go-lucky type. Every dog reacts differently to stress of a being in a new place. They are ill equipped to deal with different dog behaviors. They couldn't read body language of my dog at all, and completely misinterpreted his nervousness as aggression. My dog fed into their nervous vibes, and it went down hill from there. If you want to work at a vet clinic or pet resort, make sure you understand how to deal with dogs, to make the situation easier on everyone. If your pet doesn't fall into the "not a care in the world" category, this vet is NOT for you!

The dogs in our house love Dr. Jenny and the people in our house love Dr. Jenny, she's just fantastic! My little boy was TERRIFIED for our dog to go to the vet so I took him with me and he promised me all the way there that he did not like vets and our dog should not have to go have surgery. We dropped him off, my little boy met Dr. Jenny and on the way home he said "Mom, I like her like she's our family!" It melted my heart and I know if she can win his approval then she is top-notch! Thank you Dr. Jenny for everything you do! The blonde receptionist (I am sorry, I don't know her name) is wonderful as well, she's very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. If you are in this area or anywhere remotely close, bring your animals here, I promise you won't regret it!

I recently moved here and one of my dogs was acting abnormal. I took him to this vet and explained he had been panting, was moaning, and shaking his head. The vet did a fecal and blood sample and while in the back the vet gave him a shot for pain without a diagnosis on what was actually wrong with him. The results
came back and they did not see anything wrong in the blood work and then next step she said would be an X-ray but explained the price would be much more so I decided to wait and keep an eye on him to see if he got better. I asked what about his ears and she said he had a yeast infection but she never even looked inside his ears... On top of that she explained to me that she did not test dogs for heart worms because even if they tested positive for them she would give them heart guard to fix it, I am no vet but i know that if you give dogs heart guard and they are positive for heart worms it can kill the dog ( this is why all of the onlin retailers make you provide a statement that the dog has been tested)
On top of the issues with giving pain shot without a proper diagnosis, telling me he had a yeast infection in his ears without even checking, and then telling me her procedure on treating heartworms, when I was being rung up the price was a lot more than I expected for what had been done. I was really in shock of the price and told them there was no way I could pay that. I asked for a detailed report to see what i was actually paying for but the receposist didn't know how to do this, so she went and talked to the vet a few times she easily dropped the price $150, but I was still not presented with the detailed report. If you can easily drop the price of a vet visit by that much they are overcharging a lot. I still was not happy with the price and the service, so I was forced to be setup on a payment plan so I could be able to pay it off.

River Bark was recommended to me by a friend. I will say after going there 3 times now, I really know why. Everybody goes the extra mile for you. When I brought Sadie in for a booster shot, another person rushed their dog in that was hit by a car. The staff was cleaning the blood out of the gentleman's truck while he was waiting for his dog to go through surgery. This was just to help him. Amazing!

We have been coming to Riverbark (used to be Manchester Animal Hospital) for about 20 years. We used to go to the old location. Dr. Jenny came along quite some time ago and joined the team. I can't say good enough things about her. She has gone out of her way for us on multiple occasions and always done whats best for our pets. She is awesome! Just took our Maggie to their new spa facilities this past weekend and had an awesome experience. Were given the tour and Miss Maggie stayed for half a day and came home so worn out! Thank you so much Dr. Jenny and to all the staff for loving and taking care of my Maggie!<3

We've been going here for about 10 years. Our dogs get the BEST care and Dr. Jenny is the best vet you could ever find. Two emergency surgeries for our dogs and all their regular check-ups. The rates are very reasonable, with the ability to drop-off and pick-up making it super flexible for work. They open pretty early too which is also great.

Here's my bullet list why:- Location - If I didn't go here, I would have to go to Southern Pines or Raleigh to get the same services that I'm receiving here at Riverbark in Spring Lake. I was taking my dog to NC State in Raleigh every other week for months, and I am so glad I gave Riverbark a shot after seeing the business featured in a Spring Lake city magazine. Also, the long drives were not easy on my already handicapped dog.- Price - okay, $65 per visit is not pocket change. But hey, I was paying $115 + a Daycare Fee per visit when I was going to Raleigh for nearly the same exact service package. Now I'm saving time and money, wear and tear on my car... etc. Drumroll, please! And.....- Service. The Physical Therapist on staff here is very knowledgeable and personable. She has years of previous experience, a variety of pets of her own... she has professional and personal experience. I have learned more from her so far about my dog's welfare and condition than my trolling of the internet and my dog's enrollment at NCSU combined. At Riverbark, I am allowed and even encouraged to stay for my dog's therapy sessions to support him. This is such a privilege since this is something that wasn't feasible at his previous location for therapy. - Results. My dog has Degenerative Myelopathy (like ALS in people) and InterVertebral Disk Disease. At the start of therapy at Riverbark, he was dragging his back feet at a walking gait, had trouble posturing for defecation, was intermittently depressed, moderate back pain. After a few appointments (in combination with beginning a simple exercise regimen at home - about 20 min per day plus 2 daily walks), his confidence went up and he regained specific abilities that he had previously lost. He could get up on the couch again, something he hadn't done in about a year. He began defecating on his own again without my support - truly a blessing! :) He started consciously lifting his back legs again, during exercise and as needed (stepping over log, up the stairs, avoid fire ant mound, etc). My dog has been to therapy at Riverbark about 8 times so far, and every time has been a good experience. There has always been at least one person at the front desk. The lobby is large, and has been clean each time. Checkout has been easy, accurate, and swift. I have been offered an itemized receipt each time.My dog LOVES coming here. TIP: Take your dog to Dairy Queen right down the street after you're done at Riverbark and get him a peanutbutter sundae. :)

First off, the staff and doctors here do their jobs very well. I have never experienced any attitude from any of the front desk receptionists. They are always thorough and treat my baby, Jelly, with joy and love!We come here to get her flea and heartworm meds. It always goes smoothly!We also called in about tapeworms, and they said we can pick the meds up any time!I came back to CA for my sister's graduation, so I had to stay Jelly with them through their boarding service (not the pet resort). So, once I pick her up, I will give a thorough review on that service! :)Overall, clean and spacious, great staff, and convenient/affordable services.

I take both my dog, and my cat here, and I couldn't be happier without driving to NCSU's Vet Hospital in Raleigh.

Dr. Jenny was great and answered all of my questions. Also, the wait for the appointment was very short and the office is pretty clean. The front desk receptionists were very polite. I will definitely be going back!

First off, I am copying and pasting a section from a previous review that is VERY TRUE! This review has nothing to do with the Doctors and Vet Techs. Unfortunately, the front desk girls solidified the fact that I would not be returning to this establishment!
This is from a previous review and is 100% accurate. I couldn't write it any better. See below.
"I actually have multiple friends that have the same complaint about these two girls. I have never been in an environment where the front desk has had more of an attitude problem or as rude as they are to customers. I have only been 2 times but each time was put off by these girls. They are snooty in their responses to questions and treat you like an inconvenience to them."
The owners of this establishment should take note to these reviews. I and many others feel the EXACT same way towards River Bark. Therefore, I am taking my business else where! IMO, it is time to let this staff go and find others who enjoy their job and working with PEOPLE. I wanted to be greeted with a smile, not an attitude.

When I first got there, the cleanliness was sort of subpar. Not bad, but not great. This was my first red flag. The receptionists are all always in a bad mood, not friendly at all. On the phone they were rude, & in person they were rude.
My dogs just needed to be UTD on shots. When I took my boys back to a room to wait on the vet, a lady came in, said no more than 5 words to me, then took them out of the room. I have NEVER had a vet do shots on my dogs not in front of me. This was my next red flag. I don't appreciate them taking my boys behind closed doors at all. They didn't disclose with me any information about the shots they were giving, either. I never even met with the actual vet, it was just the vet techs.
When I went to check out, I always fell over when I saw the bill. Almost $300 for shots. Absolutely ridiculous.
I recommend to just find another vet. We will not go here again. Looks appealing on the outside, but they are unprofessional in all areas of their staff.

Went to pick my pet from boarding and noticed that they gave me paperwork for another owner with the same pet name. I politely asked the receptionist if she could correct the issue since I like to have receipts and copies of services that are performed on my pet since we move frequently. I also was concerned if I was charged incorrectly since they had apparently been putting all my information under this owner's name. Also noticed that since the correct information wasn't entered under my account my pet was given vaccines that were not needed yet. The receptionist was rude and disrespectful when I tried to ask questions regarding the error they had made. I requested to speak to the owner or office manager but was told by the receptionist that she doesnt know whose number to give me since she will intercept my complain anyway. This definitely does not make me feel as if my pet is in a caring, supportive or safe environment since the receptionist feel they can do what ever they want and we as pet owners will not have a way to express our concerns and they will just fall onto deaf ears.

I tried dropping off a friends animal today and the receptionist or the Grinch basically sucked the very joy from my bones. She was horridly rude and disrespectful the whole 10 minutes I was trapped there. Her hatred for people dropping other peoples animals off to be boarded was expressed very vividly throughout the entire process of checking in the animals. However aside from the reception witch ruining my morning the gentleman who took the animal from me was about the happiest person in the area. But I would recommend just taking your animals elsewhere because if the receptionist staff hates most aspects of life the other staff behind closed doors must as well. Take my warning there are way better places close by with way better staff.

I honestly don't understand why there are so many good reviews for this place. I have nothing but terrible experiences every time I take my pets here. Normally I go to their sister clinic, Northgate in Fayetteville, but I am much closer to Manchester so if I have a busy week or Northgate is booked I will just take them here. The last experience that I had was the absolute worst. I took my 5 month old Newfoundland mix in for his third series of vaccinations yesterday. I had many questions for the vet but she came in appearing to be very rushed. We were the only car in the lot so I'm not sure what that was about. She never took the time to say hi to my dog or love on him to get him to feel a little more comfortable like other vets do. She had her tech grab him right away, she poked him with three vaccinations very roughly, and headed out the door as I was trying to get my questions in. My pup is a big dog, he's never even flinched with previous vaccinations but she was so rough with him that when I asked her to come back in to at least check his testis to see if I could schedule him to get neutered she bared his teeth at her. He is a very docile dog. I have a three year old and he has never shown any aggression at all. I couldn't believe it. She was terrible. That last visit was just the icing on the cake of bad experiences with this place. I will never go back...not even in an emergency. Don't assume that just because Northgate is a good place to go that Manchester is also. Apparently they are not run by the same people, only owned.

You can't beat the friendly service and convenient scheduling offered by Manchester. I can usually call and get a same day appointment. The staff is amazing and treat my pets like their own. Its like having a family reunion each time I take my animals in. I wouldn't trust any other vet to take care of my pets. Dr. Jenny goes above and beyond when taking care of my animals. She always returns phone calls in a timely manner and does a great job of explaining procedures and outcomes. This office has been taking care of my 3 fur babies since 2010 and I have always been very happy with the quality of care and the range of services provided.

I boarded my dog and he received a parasite from the place. Worst place ever. I had my dog in the boarded for two weeks here while I was on vacation. While I was gone, I called every other day to check on my dog; I was told he is doing fine ( eating and playing with his toys). When I picked my pet up it was obvious he was not eating nor drinking any thing. I asked the staff member what happened to my dog. My dog rib cages were literally sticking out. To make matters worse his balls were dark red and he had sores on his elbows. I immediately took my dog to his vet. The vet explained to me that my dog received Giardia which is an infection of the small intestine that comes from waste and water. The vet performed a intestinal fecal exam. The small sores on his elbows are from laying on the cement floor. Manchester staff members could not even put a blanket down for my dog. WTF. Really???? I was pissed off. If you truly love your animal take them to a different kennel. Also, I told them about my dog receiving giardia and they did not care. The office manager was ignorant and rude. She had the nerve to say Giardia does not show up in an intestinal fecal exam. According to the Vets I have taken my dog to, I was advised that it does show up in the fecal exam.

This animal hopsital is the best animal hospital in the Fayetteville, Spring Lake, Ft. Bragg area. I have personally been back in the kennels and they are one of the few places that actually keep them off the floor. Each dog gets a blanket when the nicest kennel staff in the world are done cleaning their cages. To my fellow reviewer Disgusteddd you don't know what you are talking about because Giardia can only be contracted from drinking contaminated water. So basically if you take your dog outside and he happens to drink out of a puddle that had been there a few days your dog could have contracted it form there as well. So If your dog had contracted it from the kennels at Manchester Animal Hospital every other dog kenneled there would have it as well. Like I said I have personally seen the kennel conditions back there and each dog is given fresh water daily so I don't see how that would be possible. So to Disgusteddd I would take a look at the vet who told you your dog contracted Giardia and make sure he is qualified to be giving that kind of diagnosis. Of course some dogs will probably go home skinnier than when you left! Not because the staff doesn't feed them but because they are away from home and are having anxiety and stress. Everytime I would board my dog he would come home and have the runs for about 2 weeks because he gets so upset he's away from his family. As far as the new office manager goes... Everytime I have been in there I have not had any issues and the new office manger(her name is Amy) is very capabale and professional and if you had a problem with her it probably was not her, more than likely it was your attitude. If you really have a problem with this animal hospital take your animal to another vet in town compare and contrast and you'll eventually figure out that if your having a problem with them its you and not the animal hospital. So Mancheser Animal Hospital is the BEST EVER!!!!!! If you take your pets there you won't be disappointed the staff is incredibly nice and very professional and they work with you any way possible!

When you take your pet here for surgery, she pretends she is the one doing the job but in reality, they TRANSPORT YOUR PET WITHOUT CONSENT across town to North Gate where one of the other doctors does the surgery. They then drive the pet back to Manchester, unrestrained, where you pick it up...not knowing it ever left. Ask for details about your surgery and see how Dr. Rodriguez doesn't know the answers BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T PERFORM IT!! Is this even legal?! Edit - Delete

I moved here from suburban Philly and I never thought I would find a vet for my cat, Sasha, as wonderful as we had. up home. I was wrong; Manchester is a very caring, compassionate animal hospital and I am so pleased to have found them. The first time I met them, I had to put my beloved Sasha down, a very difficult time to say the least. Everyone was so caring to her (and me) - a new patient - yet they treated us with all the compassion of someone they had known forever. I have since brought my new little girl, Maggie, for declawing and she received wonderful treatment. She was jumping around the next day, so different from all the other cats I've had declawed. There was practically no recovery time. I cannot say enough about this vet hospital. Dr. Jenny and her staff love their jobs and it shows - from the time you walk in to when you leave. Even if I didn't live in Spring Lake, I would drive the distance to take Maggie to Dr. Jenny. Thanks so much....Judy and Maggie!!

Doc Jenny, Stacy and the entire staff of Manchester Animal Hospital are the most caring, compassionate and knowledgeable people in the Veterinary industry!!! We have 3 dogs and a cat, all with special needs, and they receive the best care at Manchester. Doc Jenny is an outstanding surgeon and the facilities/equipment are superior to any we have visited. The boarding facilities are spotless and our pets always come home happy & clean. We have many friends who also take their pets to Manchester Animal Hospital and wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have taken my animals to Manchester Animal Hospital for about 3 years now. I absolutely love them. They are very friendly and always willing to answer my questions. There has been several times that they have allowed me to bring in my animals right away for multiple reasons. They have always gone over and beyond to assist my animals needs. I also use them for boarding frequently, and again, they are so nice and treat my pets like their own.

We have a 65 lb Lab who really likes to eat. I woke up from work & fed Molly & she ate just as normal as any other day so I went on to work. My wife woke up a few hours later & when she went down stairs to let the dogs out Molly never came which is not normal. If you were to know Molly she loves to eat, she knows where all the neighbors dog food dishes are in their house. My wife called me at work & said Molly is not acting normal, she puts food, a squeker ball & treats in front of her to try & get her to come down & she wont come. She will not move out of her spot. I called Manchester & spoke to Stacy & proceded to tell her what was happening. I did tell Stacy that we are almost a month into changing over dog foods, she then said "oh, that is the reason she wont come down & is not acting normal" I kept stressing that it is not normal for her to not want to eat. I told her over & over again that she is not acting right. Stacy said they can fit Molly in in a few days "not to worry, give it a few days". I called my wife back & she is now telling me that Molly is defacating all over the house & can barely walk. I then called the Vet back & got Stacy again & told her what Molly was now doing. I asked Stacy if we can bring Molly in now for an emergency visit,she told me "they have no time to take care of her. I would need to take her somewhere else". I searched the internet & called 'All Animals Hospital in Sanford' & they said no problem get her here ASAP. Molly ended up having a blockage at the end of her stomach that was not letting anything pass. They said she probably only had about 12 hours to live if we would not have brought her in. Molly had very intense surgery & is recovering. Manchester Animal Hospital is supposed to have emergency service, I guess they really dont & you are taking a big risk going there. The next week Manchester called & said they really had messed this up. We told them "Molly almost died". Manchester=BIG RISK, Very Unexperienced.

Their prices are also very good especially considering the treatment your pets will receive. Their new facility is state of the art!! They also remember you and your pets when you make return visits, not too many places can say that these days!!! It is the personal touches that make this Vet Hospital an A+ in my opinion!!!

In the past, she has been very kind to my dogs and treated me with respect. However, this last time I took my dog to her, she wanted to simply brush me off with a couple of pills and send me on my way.
My dog had been coughing and unfortunately, it sounded like either heartworms or possibly heart failure. Doctor Jenny wasn't even going to run a heartworm test! I asked her about the test, and she was going to brush me away again by telling me that it was very expensive. I pressed the issue, and she said it was $45. Too expensive???
I told her that I wanted the heartworm test, so an assistant took my dog out of the room, and I guess they ran the test on him. (I mean how do you really know WHAT they do with your pets since they no longer treat them in your presence: They take the pets away from you and to a different room to treat them.)
Doctor Jenny came back amazingly quickly (too quick for a blood test if you ask me....) and told me that there were no heartworms. So...I proceeded to ask her about heart failure, and she smiled falsely and talked to me as if I was child saying that if it were anything to do with the heart, she would hear a heart murmur, and she did not hear a heart murmur.
I wanted to press the issue of getting an x-ray done because I was not convinced (as Doctor Jenny seemed to be) that my dog's problem was no big deal. He had been coughing, acting like he cannot breathe at times, and had lost a LOT of weight. But when I started to ask her about it....she simply began walking towards the door, told me to try the pills she gave me, and call her if they did not work.
ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! If they do not work, my dog could die! Well, it has been six days, and my dog is STILL coughing and acting like he cannot breathe at times. But I will NOT be taking him back to Doctor Jenny. I will be taking him elsewhere. I truly felt like Doctor Jenny treated me like some poor, ignorant person that did not deserve her time. Well, believe me, I will not be "wasting her time" anymore. My dog is my baby, and I was willing to do whatever it took to get him better. I will be taking him somewhere else where the people will treat me and him with respect and dignity.
For many people, their pets are their babies. I am one of those people, and it only takes one bad experience such as the one I described above for them to take their business elsewhere. Just as parents would not allow a second chance after a bad experience with a medical practitioner, pet parents will not either.
October 27, 2018 - This is an update to my review. The medicine that Doctor Jenny gave me for my dog did nothing, and in fact, my dog got worse. He got to the point where he was coughing almost constantly. True to my words, I did not take him back to Riverbark: instead, I took him to Reilly Road Animal Hospital. Unlike Doctor Jenny, who did not listen to anything I said, Doctor Stephenson actually listened to me and took my concerns seriously. He listened to Meepster's heart, and there WAS a heart murmur!! He did a blood test and a chest x-ray and determined that it was, indeed, heart failure as I had feared.
The time I wasted taking Meepster to Doctor Jenny and waiting to see if some stupid cough pills and antibiotics would help him, only made his condition worse. Furthermore, the money I gave Doctor Jenny ($156) could have paid for Meepster's heart medication for a month. I will never, ever take any of my dogs back to Riverbark, and I will never, ever recommend them to anyone either. Meepster is now on three different heart medications, and his coughing has stopped. However, his condition went on too long without medication, so...he likely does not have long left to live.

Dr. Jenny and her staff are awesome. I was not happy with the vet I had been using. They were not getting to the root of my kittys issue, but were charging me a pretty penny anyway. A coworker suggested Riverbark and Dr. Jenny. I've never looked back. She is a caring and compassionate veterinarian, reasonably priced and does not recommend unnecessary treatments. The office always accommodates me, even when it's a last minute request. She is the best in this area and I highly recommend her.

If you care about your pet....DON'T VISIT THIS PLACE!! On my first visit to Riverbark Veterinary Hospital, Kim, the Vet Tech, wanted to use the biggest poop sample tool on my toy poodle. I had to tell her that the tool was too big for him and to go get a small one, which she proceed to tell me that they don't usually use the small tools, but went to "search" for one, mind you my dog only weighs 1.5 lbs. Today on my second appointment for the parvo shot, Kim the vet tech, grabbed the needle and she pinched the skin. The needle went through his skin and she didn't notice and all the liquid ended up on the table. My dog was crying in pain. She then went back to get another needle to retry the shot. This place is very disorganized, not hygenic and their staff seem either untrained or they are uncaring. I also called them after my appointment today and asked for the supervisor and I was met with attitude and disregard for my concerns. I would never visit this place again. If you care about your pets then this place is not for you.

We are coming from a different vet, and wow my dog was so much calmer. The dr came in and my dog was so calm and not even scared. They are so gentle and great the dogs. I will NEVER take my animals anywhere else. The staff is awesome/friendly/welcoming from the time you walk in to the time you walk out, the facility is clean/spacious/organized, and Dr. Jenny is the most kind/gracious/welcoming/loving veterinarian I have ever met. I've had dogs and cats my entire life and have encountered tons of veterinarians and clinics alike, but none as special as this one. If you live in this area, I would very highly and only recommend Riverbark (and I've used others in the immediate area). What more could you ask for in regards to your pets care? A friendly staff? Check. Affordable prices? Double check. A dependable and trustworthy vet who will undoubtedly make you feel like she loves your pet more than any other pet? I can guarantee it. I was super nervous going here because we just moved to the area and had seen an AMAZING vet in our last home, so my standards were high. I have two cats and one is pretty old & high maintenance so a good vet is important to me. Dr. Jenny is phenomenal!! Excellent bedside manner, was super sweet to my cats and comforted the one very anxious cat, gave me some good information and answered all my questions, and then told me a really cool story because I am "a cat person too" and wanted to share her excitement. It was a great experience and I am so glad I took my boys to meet her.

The boarding suites have cameras that you can watch while you are away. The dogs are let out pretty regularly for an extended length of time so they aren't cooped up all day. I highly recommend this place if your doggies need a place to stay.

Best vet I’ve ever been to. Dr. Jen is great. We have 2 German Shepherds and one is pretty aggressive. They took great care of her and weren’t forceful in any matter. They’re compassionate vets and they take their time. If you have a scheduled appointment you’ll be seen at that time not waiting in line for an hour like some vets. We recently moved back up North and it has been impossible to find a vet as good as Riverbark. Some vets just do it for a profession and for the good money. These vets genuinely care about your animals and will do anything to their power to help you. Highly recommend!

I'm very disappointed in the vet techs and the ladies at the front desk of Riverbark. Not every dog comes in will be the happy-go-lucky type. Every dog reacts differently to stress of a being in a new place. They are ill equipped to deal with different dog behaviors. They couldn't read body language of my dog at all, and completely misinterpreted his nervousness as aggression. My dog fed into their nervous vibes, and it went down hill from there. If you want to work at a vet clinic or pet resort, make sure you understand how to deal with dogs, to make the situation easier on everyone. If your pet doesn't fall into the "not a care in the world" category, this vet is NOT for you!

My little boy was TERRIFIED for our dog to go to the vet so I took him with me and he promised me all the way there that he did not like vets and our dog should not have to go have surgery. We dropped him off, my little boy met Dr. Jenny and on the way home he said "Mom, I like her like she's our family!" It melted my heart and I know if she can win his approval then she is top-notch! Thank you Dr. Jenny for everything you do! The blonde receptionist (I am sorry, I don't know her name) is wonderful as well, she's very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. If you are in this area or anywhere remotely close, bring your animals here, I promise you won't regret it!

I recently moved here and one of my dogs was acting abnormal. I took him to this vet and explained he had been panting, was moaning, and shaking his head. The vet did a fecal and blood sample and while in the back the vet gave him a shot for pain without a diagnosis on what was actually wrong with him. The results
came back and they did not see anything wrong in the blood work and then next step she said would be an X-ray but explained the price would be much more so I decided to wait and keep an eye on him to see if he got better. I asked what about his ears and she said he had a yeast infection but she never even looked inside his ears... On top of that she explained to me that she did not test dogs for heart worms because even if they tested positive for them she would give them heart guard to fix it, I am no vet but i know that if you give dogs heart guard and they are positive for heart worms it can kill the dog ( this is why all of the onlin retailers make you provide a statement that the dog has been tested)
On top of the issues with giving pain shot without a proper diagnosis, telling me he had a yeast infection in his ears without even checking, and then telling me her procedure on treating heartworms, when I was being rung up the price was a lot more than I expected for what had been done. I was really in shock of the price and told them there was no way I could pay that. I asked for a detailed report to see what i was actually paying for but the receposist didn't know how to do this, so she went and talked to the vet a few times she easily dropped the price $150, but I was still not presented with the detailed report. If you can easily drop the price of a vet visit by that much they are overcharging a lot. I still was not happy with the price and the service, so I was forced to be setup on a payment plan so I could be able to pay it off.

When I brought Sadie in for a booster shot, another person rushed their dog in that was hit by a car. The staff was cleaning the blood out of the gentleman's truck while he was waiting for his dog to go through surgery. This was just to help him. Amazing!

I can't say good enough things about her. She has gone out of her way for us on multiple occasions and always done whats best for our pets. She is awesome! Just took our Maggie to their new spa facilities this past weekend and had an awesome experience. Were given the tour and Miss Maggie stayed for half a day and came home so worn out! We've been going here for about 10 years. Our dogs get the BEST care and Dr. Jenny is the best vet you could ever find. Two emergency surgeries for our dogs and all their regular check-ups. The rates are very reasonable, with the ability to drop-off and pick-up making it super flexible for work. They open pretty early too which is also great.

My review is of the Physical Therapy services at Riverbark Pet Retreat located in/at Riverbark Animal Hospital.Definitely "Woohoo! As good as it gets!". Here's my bullet list why:- Location - If I didn't go here, I would have to go to Southern Pines or Raleigh to get the same services that I'm receiving here at Riverbark in Spring Lake. I was taking my dog to NC State in Raleigh every other week for months, and I am so glad I gave Riverbark a shot after seeing the business featured in a Spring Lake city magazine. Also, the long drives were not easy on my already handicapped dog.- Price - okay, $65 per visit is not pocket change. But hey, I was paying $115 + a Daycare Fee per visit when I was going to Raleigh for nearly the same exact service package. Now I'm saving time and money, wear and tear on my car... etc. Drumroll, please! And.....- Service. The Physical Therapist on staff here is very knowledgeable and personable. She has years of previous experience, a variety of pets of her own... she has professional and personal experience. I have learned more from her so far about my dog's welfare and condition than my trolling of the internet and my dog's enrollment at NCSU combined. At Riverbark, I am allowed and even encouraged to stay for my dog's therapy sessions to support him. This is such a privilege since this is something that wasn't feasible at his previous location for therapy. - Results. My dog has Degenerative Myelopathy (like ALS in people) and InterVertebral Disk Disease. At the start of therapy at Riverbark, he was dragging his back feet at a walking gait, had trouble posturing for defecation, was intermittently depressed, moderate back pain. After a few appointments (in combination with beginning a simple exercise regimen at home - about 20 min per day plus 2 daily walks), his confidence went up and he regained specific abilities that he had previously lost. He could get up on the couch again, something he hadn't done in about a year. He began defecating on his own again without my support - truly a blessing! :) He started consciously lifting his back legs again, during exercise and as needed (stepping over log, up the stairs, avoid fire ant mound, etc). My dog has been to therapy at Riverbark about 8 times so far, and every time has been a good experience. There has always been at least one person at the front desk. The lobby is large, and has been clean each time. Checkout has been easy, accurate, and swift. I have been offered an itemized receipt each time.My dog LOVES coming here. TIP: Take your dog to Dairy Queen right down the street after you're done at Riverbark and get him a peanutbutter sundae. :)

They are always thorough and treat my baby, Jelly, with joy and love!We come here to get her flea and heartworm meds. It always goes smoothly!We also called in about tapeworms, and they said we can pick the meds up any time!I came back to CA for my sister's graduation, so I had to stay Jelly with them through their boarding service (not the pet resort). So, once I pick her up, I will give a thorough review on that service! :)Overall, clean and spacious, great staff, and convenient/affordable services.

Dr. Jenny was great and answered all of my questions. Also, the wait for the appointment was very short and the office is pretty clean. The front desk receptionists were very polite. First off, I am copying and pasting a section from a previous review that is VERY TRUE! This review has nothing to do with the Doctors and Vet Techs. Unfortunately, the front desk girls solidified the fact that I would not be returning to this establishment!
This is from a previous review and is 100% accurate. I couldn't write it any better. See below.
"I actually have multiple friends that have the same complaint about these two girls. I have never been in an environment where the front desk has had more of an attitude problem or as rude as they are to customers. I have only been 2 times but each time was put off by these girls. They are snooty in their responses to questions and treat you like an inconvenience to them."
The owners of this establishment should take note to these reviews. I and many others feel the EXACT same way towards River Bark. Therefore, I am taking my business else where! IMO, it is time to let this staff go and find others who enjoy their job and working with PEOPLE. I wanted to be greeted with a smile, not an attitude.

When I first got there, the cleanliness was sort of subpar. Not bad, but not great. This was my first red flag. The receptionists are all always in a bad mood, not friendly at all. On the phone they were rude, & in person they were rude.
My dogs just needed to be UTD on shots. When I took my boys back to a room to wait on the vet, a lady came in, said no more than 5 words to me, then took them out of the room. I have NEVER had a vet do shots on my dogs not in front of me. This was my next red flag. I don't appreciate them taking my boys behind closed doors at all. They didn't disclose with me any information about the shots they were giving, either. I never even met with the actual vet, it was just the vet techs.
When I went to check out, I always fell over when I saw the bill. Almost $300 for shots. Absolutely ridiculous.
I recommend to just find another vet. We will not go here again. Looks appealing on the outside, but they are unprofessional in all areas of their staff.

Went to pick my pet from boarding and noticed that they gave me paperwork for another owner with the same pet name. I politely asked the receptionist if she could correct the issue since I like to have receipts and copies of services that are performed on my pet since we move frequently. I also was concerned if I was charged incorrectly since they had apparently been putting all my information under this owner's name. Also noticed that since the correct information wasn't entered under my account my pet was given vaccines that were not needed yet. The receptionist was rude and disrespectful when I tried to ask questions regarding the error they had made. I requested to speak to the owner or office manager but was told by the receptionist that she doesnt know whose number to give me since she will intercept my complain anyway. This definitely does not make me feel as if my pet is in a caring, supportive or safe environment since the receptionist feel they can do what ever they want and we as pet owners will not have a way to express our concerns and they will just fall onto deaf ears.

I can safely say that the hospital portion with a lack of better words sucks. I tried dropping off a friends animal today and the receptionist or the Grinch basically sucked the very joy from my bones...

I tried dropping off a friends animal today and the receptionist or the Grinch basically sucked the very joy from my bones. She was horridly rude and disrespectful the whole 10 minutes I was trapped there. Her hatred for people dropping other peoples animals off to be boarded was expressed very vividly throughout the entire process of checking in the animals. However aside from the reception witch ruining my morning the gentleman who took the animal from me was about the happiest person in the area. But I would recommend just taking your animals elsewhere because if the receptionist staff hates most aspects of life the other staff behind closed doors must as well. Take my warning there are way better places close by with way better staff.

I honestly don't understand why there are so many good reviews for this place. I have nothing but terrible experiences every time I take my pets here. Normally I go to their sister clinic, Northgate in Fayetteville, but I am much closer to Manchester so if I have a busy week or Northgate is booked I will just take them here. The last experience that I had was the absolute worst. I took my 5 month old Newfoundland mix in for his third series of vaccinations yesterday. I had many questions for the vet but she came in appearing to be very rushed. We were the only car in the lot so I'm not sure what that was about. She never took the time to say hi to my dog or love on him to get him to feel a little more comfortable like other vets do. She had her tech grab him right away, she poked him with three vaccinations very roughly, and headed out the door as I was trying to get my questions in. My pup is a big dog, he's never even flinched with previous vaccinations but she was so rough with him that when I asked her to come back in to at least check his testis to see if I could schedule him to get neutered she bared his teeth at her. He is a very docile dog. I have a three year old and he has never shown any aggression at all. I couldn't believe it. She was terrible. That last visit was just the icing on the cake of bad experiences with this place. I will never go back...not even in an emergency. Don't assume that just because Northgate is a good place to go that Manchester is also. Apparently they are not run by the same people, only owned.

You can't beat the friendly service and convenient scheduling offered by Manchester. I can usually call and get a same day appointment. The staff is amazing and treat my pets like their own. Its like having a family reunion each time I take my animals in. I wouldn't trust any other vet to take care of my pets. Dr. Jenny goes above and beyond when taking care of my animals. She always returns phone calls in a timely manner and does a great job of explaining procedures and outcomes. This office has been taking care of my 3 fur babies since 2010 and I have always been very happy with the quality of care and the range of services provided.

I boarded my dog and he received a parasite from the place. Worst place ever. I had my dog in the boarded for two weeks here while I was on vacation. While I was gone, I called every other day to check on my dog; I was told he is doing fine ( eating and playing with his toys). When I picked my pet up it was obvious he was not eating nor drinking any thing. I asked the staff member what happened to my dog. My dog rib cages were literally sticking out. To make matters worse his balls were dark red and he had sores on his elbows. I immediately took my dog to his vet. The vet explained to me that my dog received Giardia which is an infection of the small intestine that comes from waste and water. The vet performed a intestinal fecal exam. The small sores on his elbows are from laying on the cement floor. Manchester staff members could not even put a blanket down for my dog. WTF. Really???? I was pissed off. If you truly love your animal take them to a different kennel. Also, I told them about my dog receiving giardia and they did not care. The office manager was ignorant and rude. She had the nerve to say Giardia does not show up in an intestinal fecal exam. According to the Vets I have taken my dog to, I was advised that it does show up in the fecal exam.

This animal hopsital is the best animal hospital in the Fayetteville, Spring Lake, Ft. Bragg area. I have personally been back in the kennels and they are one of the few places that actually keep them off the floor. Each dog gets a blanket when the nicest kennel staff in the world are done cleaning their cages. To my fellow reviewer Disgusteddd you don't know what you are talking about because Giardia can only be contracted from drinking contaminated water. So basically if you take your dog outside and he happens to drink out of a puddle that had been there a few days your dog could have contracted it form there as well. So If your dog had contracted it from the kennels at Manchester Animal Hospital every other dog kenneled there would have it as well. Like I said I have personally seen the kennel conditions back there and each dog is given fresh water daily so I don't see how that would be possible. So to Disgusteddd I would take a look at the vet who told you your dog contracted Giardia and make sure he is qualified to be giving that kind of diagnosis. Of course some dogs will probably go home skinnier than when you left! Not because the staff doesn't feed them but because they are away from home and are having anxiety and stress. Everytime I would board my dog he would come home and have the runs for about 2 weeks because he gets so upset he's away from his family. As far as the new office manager goes... Everytime I have been in there I have not had any issues and the new office manger(her name is Amy) is very capabale and professional and if you had a problem with her it probably was not her, more than likely it was your attitude. If you really have a problem with this animal hospital take your animal to another vet in town compare and contrast and you'll eventually figure out that if your having a problem with them its you and not the animal hospital. So Mancheser Animal Hospital is the BEST EVER!!!!!! If you take your pets there you won't be disappointed the staff is incredibly nice and very professional and they work with you any way possible!

When you take your pet here for surgery, she pretends she is the one doing the job but in reality, they TRANSPORT YOUR PET WITHOUT CONSENT across town to North Gate where one of the other doctors does the surgery. They then drive the pet back to Manchester, unrestrained, where you pick it up...not knowing it ever left. Ask for details about your surgery and see how Dr. Rodriguez doesn't know the answers BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T PERFORM IT!! Is this even legal?! Edit - Delete

Knowledgeable and kind and listens when you speak and shows compassion for your issue and offers many answers and solutions when available. I moved here from suburban Philly and I never thought I would find a vet for my cat, Sasha, as wonderful as we had. up home. I was wrong; Manchester is a very caring, compassionate animal hospital and I am so pleased to have found them. The first time I met them, I had to put my beloved Sasha down, a very difficult time to say the least. Everyone was so caring to her (and me) - a new patient - yet they treated us with all the compassion of someone they had known forever. I have since brought my new little girl, Maggie, for declawing and she received wonderful treatment. She was jumping around the next day, so different from all the other cats I've had declawed. There was practically no recovery time. I cannot say enough about this vet hospital. Dr. Jenny and her staff love their jobs and it shows - from the time you walk in to when you leave. Even if I didn't live in Spring Lake, I would drive the distance to take Maggie to Dr. Jenny. Thanks so much....Judy and Maggie!!

Doc Jenny, Stacy and the entire staff of Manchester Animal Hospital are the most caring, compassionate and knowledgeable people in the Veterinary industry!!! We have 3 dogs and a cat, all with special needs, and they receive the best care at Manchester. Doc Jenny is an outstanding surgeon and the facilities/equipment are superior to any we have visited. The boarding facilities are spotless and our pets always come home happy & clean. We have many friends who also take their pets to Manchester Animal Hospital and wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have taken my animals to Manchester Animal Hospital for about 3 years now. I absolutely love them. They are very friendly and always willing to answer my questions. There has been several times that they have allowed me to bring in my animals right away for multiple reasons. They have always gone over and beyond to assist my animals needs. I also use them for boarding frequently, and again, they are so nice and treat my pets like their own.

We have a 65 lb Lab who really likes to eat. I woke up from work & fed Molly & she ate just as normal as any other day so I went on to work. My wife woke up a few hours later & when she went down stairs to let the dogs out Molly never came which is not normal. If you were to know Molly she loves to eat, she knows where all the neighbors dog food dishes are in their house. My wife called me at work & said Molly is not acting normal, she puts food, a squeker ball & treats in front of her to try & get her to come down & she wont come. She will not move out of her spot. I called Manchester & spoke to Stacy & proceded to tell her what was happening. I did tell Stacy that we are almost a month into changing over dog foods, she then said "oh, that is the reason she wont come down & is not acting normal" I kept stressing that it is not normal for her to not want to eat. I told her over & over again that she is not acting right. Stacy said they can fit Molly in in a few days "not to worry, give it a few days". I called my wife back & she is now telling me that Molly is defacating all over the house & can barely walk. I then called the Vet back & got Stacy again & told her what Molly was now doing. I asked Stacy if we can bring Molly in now for an emergency visit,she told me "they have no time to take care of her. I would need to take her somewhere else". I searched the internet & called 'All Animals Hospital in Sanford' & they said no problem get her here ASAP. Molly ended up having a blockage at the end of her stomach that was not letting anything pass. They said she probably only had about 12 hours to live if we would not have brought her in. Molly had very intense surgery & is recovering. Manchester Animal Hospital is supposed to have emergency service, I guess they really dont & you are taking a big risk going there. The next week Manchester called & said they really had messed this up. We told them "Molly almost died". Manchester=BIG RISK, Very Unexperienced.

Dr. Dale and Dr. Jenny are simply great!!! I would not take my pets to anyone else in town. The care and commitment they show and demonstrate is the best I have ever seen. Their prices are also very good especially considering the treatment your pets will receive. Their new facility is state of the art!! They also remember you and your pets when you make return visits, not too many places can say that these days!!! It is the personal touches that make this Vet Hospital an A+ in my opinion!!!

Manchester AH may be a little more expensive than some other animal hospitals, however Dr Dale and Dr Jenny will take their time and show love when taking care of your pet. Their new office is fantastic and they are state of the art. You may pay a little more, but your pet will get the best care possible - a value it and of itself.
