Our cat and his brother have been patients here for 10 years. He had to have emergency surgery for removal of a kidney stone on Saturday night. The emergency clinic in Myrtle Beach where we took him has no facilities for evening care during weekdays andiron discharge suggested post op care with regular vet.We could not care for him at home because he was being given IV antibiotics and was catheterized. We called Brunswick and told them of our need for postoperative care for our cat and explained why. The person we spoke with said they could not take him since they had no overnight staff to care for our pet and would not suggest a suitable facility. They have kept our pets overnite in the past. We found another vet to care for him. We will not return to Brunswick. Read Less

I've been taking my 2 dogs and cat here for over a year. Looks can be deceiving about this place as it's not the best looking building or rooms, but in SE North Carolina, this is the best medicine and affordable treatment in the area (including Wilmington). In my time here, I've been to 2 other vet practices, one corporate (Wilmington) and a private owned in little river. Let me say this, Brunswick Animal Hospital is the best when it came to preventative care, illnesses, and surgeries. Staff truly cares, they always educate on the medicine based on the environmental factors down here. They've helped me through some hard times with the animals and they always had other solutions if I wasn't comfortable with the treatment plan. Sadly, some people try taking advantage of their kindness. Some information, no they don't take payment plans. If you agree to pay, have your animal treated, then refuse to pay and complain, they won't keep seeing you, which why would they?! It's pretty much theft. Anyways, as long as I have animals in my life, which will be until I die, I'll be taking them to the best Vet practice in the area, which is here. Read Less

I have been going to dr rabon for 12 yrs.  last year I lost a job of 24 yrs and my 13 yr old lab had to go to the rainbow bridge.  I was on unemployment and could not pay all at once for her remains.  they let me pick her up anyways.  ive have never been in bad financial terms with them and thought that they would help.  on 4-2-19 my sweet bella was ill and brought her up there, they were going to refuse me but  we worked out something.  she automatically said that bella was sick and gave me meds and steroids for her.  She had to be put down on Thursday of that week. very emotional. She was sent off to be cremated and I knew I couldn't get her remains until I paid them off and I have been paying them. I recently adopted a new baby from animal shelter so my 5 yr old pitbull Duke woulnt be alone.  I tried to make an appointment for the puppy for next shots which are covered by the animal shelter and would paid what ever voucher didn't cover.  They said "NO" you have to pay off balance.  I then said I would like to leave a message with dr rabon and she proceeded to tell me that wouldn't make a difference and he would not call me back.  I am very upset with how they treated me apparently they do not care enough about animals.  Besides that only 2 faces I recognize when I go there. needless to say I will not be going to them anymore and apparently dr rabon doesn't care about keeping his loyal customers that had a small bump in there life.  they were always paid!!!!  I recommend looking into another vet for your needs. This vet has NO IDEA what they are doing are are extremely RUDE!! I had been seeing Dr Rabon for at least 4 years for a bacterial infection for my dog and not once did he prescribe an antibiotic!! All he said that whole time was give him baths  every week which has been hard on me and him for all these years I have scoliosis and he has a fear of water but maybe if he gave a antibiotic to begin with the bacteria wouldn't be in his system for so many years which maybe now caused seizures, ear infections,  allergies, and a thyroid problem which he had him on wrong mg thyroid med for at least 2 years so I got fed up of no help and switched to Dr Read and she was NO better...she tried to treat his allergies with Prednisone which gave him seizures, treating his ear infections with steroid shots which made him gain weight which he is a 8 lb dog and a extra pound is alot on a tiny dog so I said no more steroids!! Why she didn't give antihistamines I don't know and antibiotic drops in his ears but she never suggested a antifungal, antibacterial liquid I found online MYSELF that they use also that can be used on skin and ears and no one told me about it which makes me mad!! Dr Read took a swab of his ear and said he had yeast and bacteria in his ears (which he always has) yet she did nothing for him except tell me to treat it myself at home with the stuff I bought myself online which I didn't need an appointment for that information yet she decided to charge me a regular office visit as if she did something to help him but she did not...now I had just gotten finished telling her I was financially strapped because my rent was raised and I no longer have help paying for my appointments and they know I am on a fixed income and I told her my phone just got hacked but she charged me anyway which I thought was pretty heartless!! I would of been happy to pay the visit if she put antibiotic drops in his ears but she didn't so I called and complained about the situation and I asked for my money back and they got mad and told me to never come back but I wish I would of went somewhere else much sooner because then maybe my dog wouldn't be as sick as he is now so I would say go somewhere else that knows what they are doing because these guys certainly don't and the girls at the front desk pretend to be nice but they are rude and fake and will turn on you in a second Read Less

Anesthesia is tricky and I'm guessing that he had a stroke because we got him home and he was groggy from the meds but he never was able to walk with his back legs again. That night we had to make an emergency trip to Wilmington so he could go peacefully. I called the next day to let them know and not to order the medication, while they were caring on the phone and wished their condolences the Dr was out (she does not work there on Thursdays) and they said that they would let her know. Usually I love going here, but I lost my beloved Chloe on the 19th of Dec. four hours after I left their office she died. They that she had a bladder infection on Monday and then ran some tests on her on Tuesday after I disagreed with their Monday report. After doing xrays they found she had cancer and gave her a steroid shot to slow down the bleeding. They drew some blood and sent it out for testing. Those results showed she had diabetes. She was so healthy on Sunday and dead on Tuesday. The clinic was surprised she passed so quickly. She would of been nine this month. I miss her so much. Read Less

While on vacation at Holden Beach our dog became sick. We took him in on a Saturday to Brunswick Animal Hospital to be checked and was sent home with medication. The office was very disorganized and this should have been a red flag but here is where things go horribly wrong. On Monday morning our dog was still having signs that he was not getting any better. I called and left a message for a Vet Tech or the Vet to return my call as I explained that we were there Saturday and our dog was not responding to the medication and wanted to discuss if this was normal for the delay in responding or should we bring him in to be seen again. I was told that Dr. Anderson would return my call. Well, NO CALL BACK. Later that evening we took our dog to Wilmington to the animal hospital and discovered he had eaten a plastic tennis ball and chunks of the tennis ball was lodged in his intestines. All turned out ok and now our dog is returning to normal. I called this morning to address there was no call back and was told "we are very busy and we have to take a lunch" I understand you are busy but asked why no one could have returned our call to advise there would not be a Vet or a Vet tech able to call but give me names of local Animal Hospitals. I was told again how busy they are.  I would not recommend anyone who LOVES their pets to visit this facility. Very shocked how this was handled by their office staff. Read Less

Unfortunately the Dr. did a procedure on my Cat and he died as a result of the procedure. We never heard back from Dr or even received a condolence card from them.  This vet had been working with our pet for over a month as he was getting sick and we heard nothing.  They had been seeing him regularly for almost 2 years but only regular shots.  I would not take Cats there as I just think they are better suited for Dogs.  They might care but we never heard back from them so not sure about how caring they really are, maybe just too busy not sure.  Very disappointed and I would not take my pets there.  I would drive to Leland  at Cape Fear Animal Hospital where there is a great vet or Wilmington.

Read Less

Went here when our dog had an ear infection on vacation. Staff was friendly and efficient. It was nice that they had separate entrances, waiting areas, and exam rooms for dogs vs cats.

We have seen Dr Rabon at Brunswick Animal Hospital since 1985. We have had several pets over the years, dogs, cats, bunnies ect. He has been great at every vet visit we've had. His diagnosis is always accurate, his treatment is always benificial/ problem solving, and his fees have always been more than reasonable.
