Only come here if you: 1) have an appointment and sit there for an hour and still not be seen or talked to. 2) love the smell of cat urine & dog hair. 3) liked to be put in a private room with your pregnant wife and german shepherd dog (that is not misbehaved AT ALL) just so another patient can wait in the waiting room with their two dogs that hate other animals and people and are obnoxious. While vacationing in Surf City, our family's dog got into a scuffle with another dog on the beach and was wounded. After calling multiple vet offices that refused to take walk-ins -- instead suggesting we drive an hour away to an animal ER -- Surf City understood our plight and quickly worked us into their schedule. Here on vacation during the Thanksgiving holiday and my baby boy, Ruckus, decided to break his nail off badly needing emergency care. Well, Mama is immediately distraught because we are away from home and his regular doctor, but Google sends me to these lovely people. We didn't have an appointment, I just walked in asking for help and they immediately called my regular vet to verify his records and we were seen. He ultimately had to be sedated and the nail removed and I had a few rough "Mama" moments but he is now safe and comfortably sleeping off the anesthesia beside me. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!My dog fell ill a while ago and I was really worried that she wouldn't make it. I scheduled an appointment with Surf City Pet Hospital and felt immediate relief. They checked her out, ran a couple of blood tests, clipped her nails, and gave her some medicine. They were very gentle with her, too. She's a nervous dog, so I'm sure she appreciated it. They offer all the flea and tick and heartworm treatments you can imagine. The prices are about the same as any vet and they DO take Care Credit if you need to use it. My pup got a 6-month heartworm injection, some antibiotics, a fecal test, and a basic examination for $151. Well worth it.There have cats everywhere! It was a kitty heaven! And they were so well-behaved and chill. There were a few up for adoption, too. If only, if only... I would have taken them all home with me.This happened back in May or so. My baby is doing much better thanks to them and I'm looking forward to making this her primary vet. Thank you again so much! Read Less

My dogs don't usually have any problem going to vets, but they are scared to death of this place. They are rough with our animals and have poor attitudes over the phone. They do a poor job of clipping nails. Last time we went, we ended up cleaning blood spots off of our tan upholstery in our car. Still stained.Read Less

Bentley had to be sedated and have a nail removed and I was a nervous wreck but it helped knowing he was in good hands. The staff was and is incredible. They were incredible to my dog and my daughters dog. Unfortunately my dog passed away and I won't be coming here. My experience at Surf City Pet Hospital was wonderful! The staff was friendly and welcoming and "Dr. Sally" was kind, caring, attentive, and very responsive to mine and my dog's needs. After giving Dr. Sally some background information about my dog, she examined him and gave him the test that he needed. The next day she called to follow up and give me the findings of the test results. She mentioned she had spoken to a specialist about my dog's condition, and then gave me her recommendations for treatment. I was very impressed and pleased that Dr. Sally had taken the time to inquire more about my pet's needs, before calling me give me to give her recommendations. Had to take my kitty in for vaccines and teeth cleaning (she is only 3 1/2) I noted bad breath and some gum swelling. The Dr. was kind and patient with both of us. My baby had to have 3 extractions but she had pain medication and tolerated things ok..a little stubborn on not wanting to eat. 10 days later and she is back to her old self. I want to thank the Vet and staff at Surf City Pet Hospital for the tremendous care you gave to my dog Cal and our family when he became terribly ill several weeks ago. He passed away very suddenly but the warmth and empathy you showed made this so much better than it could have been. The staff gave me time with him at the end and lit a candle in the room.
