Our dog was hit by a truck on a Friday night. He has a gash in his leg and it could possibly be fractured. On Saturday morning we took him to his vet, Arcadia Veterinary Hospital. After coming to the car to check on him, they advised that it was possibly broken and we would need to take him to a specialty Vet clinic so as not to pay twice. They recommended Thomasville Veterinary Hospital in Thomasville, NC, which was about 30 minute away. We called them on the way and alerted them we were coming and of Kane's injuries. They got our information and said we would need to pay a $350 DEPOSIT for their services. We were willing. When we arrived, we found that they had moved to a new address from what Arcadia had given us and the new building was magnificent. I saw dollar signs. We went in, leaving Kane in the car so as to check him in and keep him off the leg. It seemed like the staff cleared the waiting room, taking people that came in after us before calling us up. Odd, yes. When we were finally called, we were told that after speaking to the vet, they would now need a $1000 DEPOSIT to assess Kane. Obviously, my response was not pleasant and we asked how a normal person could afford to pay that kind of deposit without even seeing the animal. They offered us a Care Credit application and offered to run it for us. LOL. There was no compassion for animals or humans shown to us. We inquired as to why they did not call us back to tell us the difference in deposit required and they claimed to have tried but got our voicemail. Funny they didn't leave any voicemail and we had no missed calls. We immediately left and were distraught trying to understand our options. There were none except to wait and leave Kane in pain until Monday when we could see a normal vet. We decided to go back to Arcadia and tell them what happened and if nothing else, make sure they did not recommend Thomasville Veterinary Hospital to any other family. They were shocked and dismayed at our experience with Thomasville Veterinary Hospital, who they had recommended. Even though it was getting close to closing time, they assessed Kane, took and X-ray (with sedation) and found that it was not broken. They wrapped his leg, gave us a couple of prescriptions and scheduled a follow up next weekend. After a $292 bill, we were on our way and he is recovering nicely. Unless you are independently wealthy, do not try to seek help from Thomasville Veterinary Hospital in Thomasville, NC. They have no compassion for animals, only cash. Read Less
