I was very pleased with care and customer service for my dog Buffy. Doctors are very attentive and explain everything in detail.
Vet tech lady was amazing, very professional, it was the first time I met a professional vet tech. The environment is warm and friendly. Including two beautiful smart kitties who greet customers at the door. Very clean. Bathrooms for customers are very well maintained. We were waiting in the lobby to be seen. It’s not like in Emergency hospital in Fayetteville, where we were supposed to wait in the car for 4 to 6 hours.
I recommend Small Animal emergency services clinic in Vass to everyone who cares for their pets. Thank you so much. Read Less

From the moment I called to make sure they were open, then watching "Nurse" Alan Rose carefully kneel down with my beloved Westie and take vitals, and then having the opportunity to speak with Dr Tony Ioppolo and hear his thoughts - and his honesty - I felt that we were being given the gentle care and attention of an established client, not someone who had just rushed off the highway. Brought our dog in because of a venomous snake bite. I knew odds were it wouldn't be fatal but I came in for information. Treatment is adequate but the problem is it seems like they're more interested in the upsells rather than talking about what's going on. I asked both the vet tech and the vet "How bad does it look comparatively to other bites you've seen? Is that amount of swelling indicative of dry bite or a bite with a big venom dump?" Instead of answers I get well we can run a blood test but its 200. We'll also toss her in a kennel for the night just in case. I would have paid you 200 for a legit professional opinion of what is NEEDED not a McDonald's menu of random things you provide. If you want to upsell unnecessary things don't make us wait an hour. Obviously if you thought it was a real problem you would have rushed the vet in. I'd also like to note that the staff is nice and mostly helpful I assume its not their fault but maybe its the owners business model or some sort of incentive system driving their actions. *edit after response* I said if you want to upsell things don't make us wait an hour. I never said waiting an hour was an issue. My point was that obviously if you thought something was really bad it wouldn't have taken an hour to get the list of possible treatments. I understand there are financial constraints on some. My issue is this- I wanted to know what the expert thought was NEEDED. If something is optional then I want to know what it helps and or effects. If you offer me a service like a blood clot test you should explain what info it will give and what follow-up treatment based off results will be. The problem is you offer a one off standard treatment and don't base it off that dogs particular situation. Cost isn't the issue the issue is effectiveness of treatment. Also for you to say I can't find you in the system is ridiculous do you think I'm making this up? I bet my wife's name is in the system. It's my opinion that your vet knew the bite probably wasn't bad but still offered unnecessary services to increase the ticket total disregarding that an uneeded overnight stay would be more stressful to the dog. If my dog needs to be kept just simply say. We need to keep her overnight period. If you go to the dentist he says "That cavity NEEDS to be filled" you can ignore it but it doesn't change the need. Your vet said we can keep her but never told me how much need there was for that service. Read Less

This clinic left my Italian Greyhound in a cage for nearly 2 hours with a badly broken leg without stabilizing the fracture. She was trying to stand on the leg before I brought her in, so locking her in a cage without splinting her leg would have been like me leaving her out in the yard to try and walk on a leg literally broken in half and flopping. They were very compassionate, and gave my dog pain medication. They helped me figure out where to take her to get the leg repaired. However, they only reduced and splinted the break after calling NC State veterinary hospital who told them they absolutely had to do this for my dog to travel up to NC State for care. Failure to splint the leg can cut off blood supply. My other IG broke her leg in Alabama, and that emergency vet knew to immediately stabilize and loosely splint the leg to prevent additional damage. I cannot say if it was due to not stabilizing the leg, but NC State discovered that my dog had splintered bone fragments at either end of the break upon arrival that were so bad, they were unsure if they could even do surgery using multiple plates. Fortunately my dog got to keep her leg, and can walk, but we will not likely go back to this emergency vet for this type of issue. Maybe they are better with different types of emergencies. Read Less

I had taken my dog here back in 2009 when the office was in Aberdeen. Back then we got great service. I had to rush my dog there again the other night. Different staff than his visit in 2009. No compassion, no empthy whatsoever. We received an estimate and were expected to pay half of the money right then and the other half by 7:45am before they closed for the day. I had enough money to cover the up front half but would have to borrow the rest of the money to cover the remining balance. No banks are open that early for me to be able to get the remaining money before they closed. We asked if we could bring the money after 9am or when they opened back up the next day but they kept giving us some policy crap. My dog, my baby's situation was bad and recovery would not be a quick fix. I think because we couldn't pay the full amount before they closed that they kept giving us updates to make it seem that he was worse than we thought. I feel like because they couldn't wait past closing to get their money, they forced me to make the decision to put my baby down. The only thing nice that they did was give me an ink print of his paw and neatly wrapped him before bringing him out to our car. Only then did we ever get an "I'm sorry" for our situation. Read Less

My puppy had a blockage in his intestine. We took him to Vass emergency vet. They said that he needed surgery for an object to be removed. They went to tell us that they do this kind of surgery all the time and even did this type of surgery on one dog three times. They did not explain all the risk! They were in a big hurry for us to agree on the surgery and to take a deposit. . They made us believe that everything would be fine. They did the surgery and within three days my puppy was not doing well. I took him back and they did more X-rays and said that he needed a second surgery to see what was wrong well my puppy did not make it through the second surgery. They said he was septic!!! My puppy was the joy to our lives which they took from us at Christmas!! Feel free to form your own opinion about this place but I do not trust this place at all. This place should be ashamed of themselves. I don't know how these vets sleep at night. My persian cat ate something he shouldn't have and needed to have surgery to extract whatever was lodged in his intestine. Banfield said they don't perform those types of surgeries so they referred me to Small Animal Emergency Services. They quoted me a rough estimate of $2K for the surgery, which I cannot afford. The next morning I made some phone calls and found another vet in Fayetville who just did the surgery today for less than $500. It is such a shame that vets like this live to cash in on other people's misfortunes. Don't go here unless you're rich and money is no object. Read Less

My English Bulldog got very ill over a week ago and we took her to Small Animal Emergency Services in Vass, NC. Unfortunately my little girl died before arriving there. Vet could not tell us what the cause was, suggested a Necropsy, but said that doesn't always determine cause of death either. The main reason for this review is that I just wanted to thank their staff and the compassion they showed from the time we arrived. They were very sympathetic. The offered to wrap a blanket around my dog, Daisy, to transport her back home. I asked them what I owe and they said nothing. They even sent a sympathy card a week later.Read Less

Dr. Ann Turner is the most competent vet I think I've ever met. I've worked as a vet tech for several doctors. I don't work at this clinic and never have. I love her though. She's very compassionate and very gentle with the animals she cares for. It doesn't matter to her if it's a small issue or if she needs to do some major surgery. Each animal gets the same amount of care and attention. She also takes you seriously as a pet owner. The office is nice and neat. It has no strong unpleasant odors. The back of the hospital is very high tech and the operating suites are amazing! They have the ability to do x-rays there and the pharmacy is very well stocked. This is an emergency hospital, so you can't get your flea or heartworm prevention there of course. The staff is very friendly and very competent as well. I believe they are all licensed vet techs, so they are very knowledgeable. I haven't met the other doctors there yet. Hopefully you will never need to visit their office for anything other than a tour. If you do find yourself bring your four legged family member in, I really think you'll feel good about your decision to take them there. Read Less

Also I like to add they are very military friendly and give discounts for those who served which I found very grateful.Read Less

I feel all they care about is money!!!! They did not care about my puppy or my husband of I. They even asked for the medications that we paid for back. Sorry place in my opinion!!!! Read Less

Terrible, non compassionate Dr! Acted as if she could care less that our dearest dog was sick and eventually passed away here. She was inconsiderate and quite frankly very rude at a very emotional and sad time. There was a male tech there that was very compassionate and caring to our sweet 3 yr old dog. Overall it was a terrible experience and will not go back if I ever need emergency dog services. Read Less

Read Less
